The idea of getting beaten by the same time trial ghost over and over again but never giving up on the day you'll beat them is a really cool plot idea and very relatable if you played racing games alot.
There’s a little internet tale out there of someone playing a rally racing game with their father a ton. After the father passed he found the game one day, decided to race his father’s ghost and would let him pass right before the time could be overwritten.

I agree, infact the stuff that UA-camrs, fans or small studios and Glitch make are so amazing. There is so much that Big companies could learn from and
Initial-D in the later stages had it's fair share of high-octane moments, however the pacing of that series isn't the best for your description. Redline is just... Brain-damaged fun in the best, purest sense of that phrase. I have rewatched that film TOO many times.
At first I was confused but then I remembered I used to race ghosts in videogames too. Never thought they'd make an actual show around that concept, but I'm glad they did.
This reminds me alot of Sebastian Vettel's X2010 challenge from Gran Turismo 5. The OP car you're given, the fact that the ghost is Seb himself, and just one mistake being extremely punishing leading to hundreds if not thousands of attempts to get the gold medal times. He was basically the unofficial final boss of GT5.
So the lore that I’m getting from this episode is that the ghost supra is actually her brother’s record time. At the beginning you can hear the audience surprised that Samurai Blue (who has passed away) returns, but were disappointed shortly after finding out it was actually his sister. Skeptical about Yoko’s abilities, the audience began mocking her saying it was disrespectful to carry her brother’s nickname. That’s why the entirety of this episode is about Yoko trying to beat her brother’s best time, overcoming public pressure and to prove herself worthy of carrying her brother’s legacy.
I pick up this exact same summary from this film. It's such an impactful storyline that could be built up into so much more. Here's hoping this studio gets the funding for a full length series. It's potential is massive.
Another take I got from this is Yoko also feels guilty and/or traumatized from takeshi's fatal accident since they most likely raced together. So not only she's trying to surpass him but also facing her trauma
“It’s not about the car, or what’s under its hood. It’s the driver that counts, and the decisions that make them the driver they are, and will become.”
"It doesn't matter if racing never changes. What matters is if we let racing change us. Every one of us has to find a reason to do this. You don't climb into a T-180 to be a driver. You do it because you're driven."
really! this is by far the most accurate and impactful show iv seen (or short movie/episode) i hope it continues as I relate so much to this, everything was spot on, from the joy all the way to the sadness
This is incredible and as a car enthusiast I appreciate the fact that you included the part where she frantically miss shifts and grinds her gears/synchros at 2:26 this is detail is amazing because some people probably didn’t even know what happened amazing work and I love to see more!
Also the idea of losing to it over and over again but never giving up is oddly relatable. Reminds me of Gran Turismo 5 with Sebastian Vettel's ghost driving the X2010 F1 car and how hard that event was.
This needs a full series adaptation. It is absolutely, spellbindingly, sensationally brilliant. Everyone involved with this film did an absolutely swell job. It is a real indie anime masterpiece. And a big shoutout to the animators, writers and the fabulous, world class voice talent for making this such a joy to watch.

How the protag's trauma is depicted and the expectation subversion at the line MMM There is a startling amount of car nerd specific detail throughout as well even down to the cultural relevance of the location of choice: Angeles Crest is second only to PCH and Mulholland(at least within Cali) for noteriety amongst enthusiasts, I'm from the UK and I know about those road's significance even though no one who doesn't care about driving or motorsport would. The protagonist's choice of vehicle being an interpretation of a Hawkeye WRX STi tracks too, its one of the more accessible platforms to build on. The dashboard, centre console and even the gauge cluster(with some artistic license) are all modelled extremely faithfully. Almost like the talents involved are enthusiasts themselves... Immma need this as a series like *post haste* blud
"I'v already lost" most relatable, emotional and truest thing iv ever heard being said especially because i relate to this alot even the scene where the ghost drove through her hit so hard and close to home even though you would think that a ghost cant collide or bump you its more metaphorical, the ghost impacts you, overwhelms you, makes you second guess, like they say "you are your own worst enemy" (or something like that), the ultimate test is your own self, and with it brings pride and sadness.

This feels like an absolutely BEAUTIFUL fusion of Redline, Initial D, and even just racing games. The music, the characters, the driving, all of it is packed with so much emotion and spirit. Absolutely breathtaking....
From a car guy standpoint. The sound design was INSANE! Gave me chills at points to hear that distinct Subaru burble. On top of that the turbo flutters and tire squeals. All so perfect. Would LOVE to see more.
This video deserves more recognition. I've never seen an animation depicting the sheer sensation of speed, adrenaline and the mix of emotions you'd feel while racing in a single, well made product.
Incredible Job! This has the groundwork to be a successful series if you’re planning on making more. That sequence at 2:30 of her steering or gearshift locking and then a spin out from hitting a patch of rough road to feeling the effects of the “Afterimage” triggering a flashback of her brother’s death was terrifyingly kino! Good thing her friend’s song pulled her out of the darkness.
I'm speechless.... I don't even know what else to say other than perfection. You guys absolutely cooked this to perfection. Everything from the animation, music, VA's, sequences, absolutely everything is 10/10!!!
I've rewatched this too many times. I see a lot of inspiration from a few racing series I love, so this is an instant favorite for short animation. Would love to see more. Also, whoever the voice actor was for Yoko did fantastic. Her scream of terror feels so genuine and is the furthest thing from a flat performance. Honestly this should blow up, I've been spreading it around to other people.
we NEED more of this girl and her blue Hawkeye STI. made me a fan of a car that wasn't even on my radar before, kinda like how 86 didn't become major mainstream until Initial D. also PROPS for getting the Subie rumble accurate, I'm not even a Subaru fan but recognized it right away.
Someone needs to fund these people and let them make a full on show because HOLY SHIT. The art, the style, the driving, the concept, all of this is incredible.
Everything in this video is like I really wanted everything in it. The dnb, eurobeats, initial D and NFS is everything. I can't believe the efforts and the editing in this. I knew it was a MASTERPIECE before I even click. Its a 10/10.
This deserves "best indie short film" of the year instantly. Best piece of media i've seen in a DECADE. I cannot fathom how you managed to make this, or how long this took. Even the starbright song is phenomenal. Get this animation a nomination- no, an oscars, NOW.
I have watched many anime, short films and even films and I've never seen animation and music used in such a way I'd watch this over and over again. 10/10 great job guys
This was wonderful. Thank you for putting so much love into the animation. The music had beautiful, tasteful nods to the peak racing anime that had come out in the 90s and 2000s, which certainly didn't go unnoticed. See you at the starting line, Winterstellar Studios.
I don't know why, but this actually made me tear up which is super rare for me. 🥲 The idea that she's trying to honor and carry her mentor's legacy while also proving herself worthy of the name against her own self-doubt was so powerful to me. Her friend being that guardian angel taking the mic and singing her out of the deep was also dope. I'm reading in the chat that the fallen mentor was the protagonist's brother but my humble opinion is it actually works better if he was just a really close non-romantic friend and not her brother (kind of like Kamina from Gurren Lagann). You don't see that kind of male-female relationship in media and it would make their bond over racing so special. Either way this was an amazing short, amazing conveyance of the story and emotions and amazing that it was done in Blender. Great work. I hope this gets picked up!
immediately got Takumi and his 86 vibes with this girl and her Hawkeye, without a back story we can already feel the connection she has with her car! Can we get more of her and her car? like a series, maybe origin series?
Please make this an anime or a series. This is such an amazing premise and the presentation was just perfect. It really gives me an initial d vibe but futuristic and I love every bit of that.
So happy to see it all together! The compositing team on this project continues to impress me! Congrats to Wyatt for successfully seeing your vision through :)
This is insanely underrated, the animation all around and when the cars are driving is just incredible. It’s evident that a lot of hard work and love went into this. Thoroughly entertaining, leaves me wanting to see more! 10/10
that DEFINITELY sounds like a Subie... got the engine sounds down !!!! Animation and VA fantastic. Music on point. This has the makings of an epic show.
This deserves more recognition, commenting here to hope and try to help this video. Good luck and beautiful pilot! Here's hoping it develops into a even more beautiful and awesome series!
Oh my god Im utterly in love, words can't even describe the emotions this made me feel in just a short 8 minutes. 100000% buying a shirt and supporting ya'll. For anyone wondering check the description im sure the proceeds of the shirt they sell goes to them producing this series!
I absolutely love this! In just 7 minutes you explore trauma masterfully by depicting it as an active experience that can occur; even though the ghost of trauma may be on her tail and can still catch up, it is something she can push past via racing and relationships. The animation is also terrific, every frame is stunning, and the shots excellently depict these themes and the absolute hype of the race.
Bro! It's amazing, a big compliment to the animators of this short film and to all the staff behind the project, you have my support for future projects 🫡
Huge Speed Racer vibes right here. Watching this video actually made me go back to watching the final race in the speed racer movie because I drew so many parallels, from a sibling trying to inherit their brother's legacy, to the flashing rearlights dancing in the dark. This is an amazing film, and you dug up old memories of watching speed racer for the first time for me. Good Luck trying to be blessed by the algorithm!
Bringing back memories of Speed Racer chasing Rex's ghost at Thunderhead. Man I loved that scene, time trial ghosts having a connection to the challenger just gets you hooked.
Bro why is this SOO underrated. I mean the amount of work that has been put in this short film, is absolutely AMAZING, GORGUES. I'd love to see more, keep it Winterstellar Studios
This was so amazing! The visuals/colors, music, voice acting, and themes came together in a perfect harmony. By the time it was done I wanted more! This deserves all the attention and thensome!
Oh I absolutely love everything about this. Seconding everyone else saying that I'd love to see more, but even as it is, it's a top tier experience. The animation, the music, the speed of the racing scenes. The very quickly and effectively established backstory and relationships. Great work! So glad I came across it.
All I can say is, wow. It's definitely worthy of an anime. Keep it up. Honestly, this is the best anime car racing series I've seen in a very long time. It's even better than some of the current anime. So keep going for it. I absolutely love the music added to it as well. Anime should have more of this type of musical action in the background. So, I can't express enough how incredible it was. I really love it.
WOW! I was here in the first 20 comments before you get a streaming deal! The moment at 3:08 was powerful and I couldn't stop watching after that. Congrats to the entire Winterstellar Studios team for creating such a genuine stylistic film in a time where we don't see enough of this.
The idea of Yoko having to beat a time track ghost of her brother is pretty cool, reminds me of some racing games I used to play. I'd genuinely wait a year or more for this series to get more epsiodes.
Very cool! I like how it plays on the concept of a "ghost" like in racing games, where you can race against a translucent past run of yours. I really like the character designs too!
Oh, I've been WAITING for this! Congrats to the crew, I've been keeping up with the behind the scenes stuff since I first heard about this. Peak from start to finish.
This is an immaculate blend of some of the best racing media ever. The dark mountain races clearly inspired from the winding roads of Initial D, or the canyon races of NFS Carbon. The animation style is a perfect mix of the Speed Racer, Hot Wheels Acceleracers and Battle Force 5, and again, the obvious inspiration from Initial D. The idea of racing a ghost in the form of a sibling's record time draws parallels to the opening of Speed Racer as well. The animations of the car's inner mechanisms being pushed to their limits are reminiscent of similar scenes in early Fast & Furious movies. AND ALL OF THIS IS WITHOUT MENTIONING THE SOUNDTRACK!! This is honestly one of the best things I've seen on UA-cam as a whole in quite a while. I will continue to observe this studio with great interest. Bravo.
6:10 NOT A PRETTY CURE REFERENCE, or SPEED RACER!!! This like many other comments said, gives vibes and nostalgia to many different animes, movies and games we enjoyed over decades of entertainment!
See this is the kind of street racing anime we need. Something with real substance that has emotion and keeps it very relatable. This video came on my home page on YT so I am glad I checked it out because I would love to see more! Keep up the amazing work!
Gonna need a OST video for that music. If music, art and a bit of the story is this good, ima camp out and wait for this to come out. Like WTF happened to the driver in the fire, a skeleton with a helmet burnt from a wreck, I NEED MORE!!

Criminally underrated in the views department. Great work, seriously. we NEED more of this girl and her blue Hawkeye STI. made me a fan of a car that wasn't even on my radar before, kinda like how 86 didn't become major mainstream until Initial D. also PROPS for getting the Subie rumble accurate, I'm not even a Subaru fan but recognized it right away.
I'm gonna need 3 seasons, a movie, released soundtracks, fan arts, video essays, a merch of this. NOW.
Check the description, they have t-shirts already!!!
I found this randomly on the internet and I gotta.....gosh I teared up so friggin HARD, bless you for creating this
The voicework and the animation are just super phenomenal. Especially the song at the climax!
This deserves "best indie short film" of the year instantly. Best piece of media i've seen in a DECADE. I cannot fathom how you managed to make this, or how long this took. Even the starbright song is phenomenal. Get this animation a nomination- no, an oscars, NOW.
Man you can just tell this is a passion project. EVERYTHING has SO much thought and effort put into it
I have watched many anime, short films and even films and I've never seen animation and music used in such a way I'd watch this over and over again.
AYO this is genuinely incredible. Id watch a full series like this in a heartbeat.
immediately got Takumi and his 86 vibes with this girl and her Hawkeye, without a back story we can already feel the connection she has with her car! Can we get more of her and her car? like a series, maybe origin series?
just came here to post that, immediately got Takumi and his 86 vibes with this girl and her Hawkeye.
was thinking the same, her and her car's connection has Takumi/86 connection.
6:12 that shot from redline will never stop being cool
OMG now I see it
The attention to detail is..amazing, even the little Intial D whine effect during the ad break is really nice touch.
SAMURAI BLUE, WHOAAAAA, FIGHTING
SAMURAI BLUE, WHOOOAAA, LIGHTNING
Just incredible. The style of animation, the sound design. You don't see this often. Netflix? I think SO.
Even the ghost b58 in the supra sounds good.
it's a GD chassis "Hawkeye"
This deserves more recognition, commenting here to hope and try to help this video. Good luck and beautiful pilot! Here's hoping it develops into a even more beautiful and awesome series!
Oh my god Im utterly in love, words can't even describe the emotions this made me feel in just a short 8 minutes. 100000% buying a shirt and supporting ya'll. For anyone wondering check the description im sure the proceeds of the shirt they sell goes to them producing this series!
Hoping the Speed racer influence in this was not by accident. Had me absolutely grinning from ear to ear, I want more!
Imma NEED THAT SONG on spotify now
Same, it's too good not to have in a playlist
Apple music too
real
It just became available
I love how the anomaly is an A90 Supra
I absolutely love this! In just 7 minutes you explore trauma masterfully by depicting it as an active experience that can occur; even though the ghost of trauma may be on her tail and can still catch up, it is something she can push past via racing and relationships. The animation is also terrific, every frame is stunning, and the shots excellently depict these themes and the absolute hype of the race.
Bro! It's amazing, a big compliment to the animators of this short film and to all the staff behind the project, you have my support for future projects 🫡
this brings back memories of Speed Racer live action, that movie is a banger
I am so happy that youtube recommended me this. I really hope that this gets to be a full blown series as this is awesome.
this could and SHOULD become a series! I love it!
A full series would go insane 🔥🔥🔥
This was so amazing! The visuals/colors, music, voice acting, and themes came together in a perfect harmony. By the time it was done I wanted more! This deserves all the attention and thensome!
Christ almighty THE CHILLS!!!!! The sound design goes utterly perfectly with the visuals, WE NEED MORE OF THIS!!!!
ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!
The colors, the music, the sound design. Brilliant!
WE NEED A WHOLE ANIME SERIES OF THIS NOWWW
the concept of a videogame racing ghost being an actual ghost is so cool
Tears in my eyes dude I had no idea a Time Attack concept for a short film could go this hard.
Oh, I've been WAITING for this! Congrats to the crew, I've been keeping up with the behind the scenes stuff since I first heard about this. Peak from start to finish.
This is the closest we could see a 3d animation approaching anime style. Damn!!! Almost feels like I m watching legitimate traditional animation.
Guys support the studio by donating .
Bravo.
Absolutely amazing 10/10 I'm floored by the visuals, the sense of style and the sound design. Amazing job here,
That nightmare sequence felt straight out of F.E.A.R.
This short is amazing.
THIS WAS SO GOOD PLEASE GIVE US MORE IN THE FUTURE!!!
Gonna need a OST video for that music.
If music, art and a bit of the story is this good, ima camp out and wait for this to come out.
Like WTF happened to the driver in the fire, a skeleton with a helmet burnt from a wreck, I NEED MORE!!
I'm so thrilled! It's even better than I could have imagined 😁
I was literally in full tears. So good. The "Starlight" section where she woke up give me goosebumps! Loved it.
