the fact that it was made by students is beyond me, this directing, characters, action and sound design is mind-blowing and phenomenal
honestly this 16min episode got me more hyped up for than most mecha shows nowadays.
this prologue and a bit of XEBEC can take it to Argevollen level of smoothness with a new story line , even if it has to be absorbed by Bandai / KADOKAWA

熱意だけでは作品を支えられないのはファン側もなのかもしれないし、熱意で上回るから価値が追いつくのが遅くなってしまうのかもしれない。
These guys need a studio where they can create masterpieces like this. This is top tier mecha anime than most of the current mecha ones.

ハル機が着陸後にいきなり胸部装甲引っぺがしたの、冒頭でルイとリリーの居る基地が「戦域とは地球の裏側」って説明されてて超遠くにあるから、そこにたどり着くまでに全エネルギーを消費して停止寸前で、停止するとハッチを開く動力も喪失して閉じ込められちゃうから急いで装甲ごとハッチ剥がした（ので機体も完全停止した時バランスを失い倒れこんでる、きちんと降着姿勢とる時間すらもう存在しなかった）んだ、というのとそんな長距離・長時間を操縦してハルも疲労困憊なので機体から出た直後にぶっ倒れたってのを反映した一連の演出と描写の細かさに気づいて感動。
戦闘やメカニックのギミック、インターフェイス等だけじゃなく本当に細かいこういう部分も考えて作られてるのは素晴らしい…。
CG技術だけじゃない、ロボットの一つ一つの動かし方、ビームの光らせ方、色んなところに愛情と熱意を感じる。
人型ロボットの浪漫が詰まってるよ。
本当にすごい。

Dear God this puts most current professional studios to shame. You can tell this was made by people with passion for the mecha genre.
You say that as if the professionals in the studio aren't suffering from constant over work and worst oay check. The right management will bring good quality in everything that's why passion project will always be good most of the time because of management

Give them time to work on a project and they will be able to do even better than this... Animation even CGI is not smth you can put out of your ass lol seems like you don't know jackshit about it but still go arround and blame big studios for not being able to be godlike entities kekw
@@pauloazuela8488 agreed, like one punch man for example it's got an average budget (around $70,000 - $80,000 per episode) but has great animation and as far as I remember no CG characters which is a plus in my opinion.

when a 50 meter, 500 tons mech moves, it SHOULD NOT F**KING move like a human sized video game character. things needs to have weight and reasonable acceleration (meaning things will "look" slow, like when the space shuttle lifts off).
some 3d models and liberal application of overlay effects from Adobe Premier doesn't make this "professional".
okay I’m immediately blown away with how they managed to pull off such soft and silky smooth movements from just the intro. Chills, this is going to be insane! :]
It's either computer generated filler frame or just straight up 2,5D animation. The same way nechas are animated in Voltron and, well, almost everything in the new Dragon Price season. It has something uncanny to it, idk...
@@nell2352 definitely algorithmic inbetweening. The smooth movements still jerk between frames, its just that thees a smooth transition between frames now, so definitely automated. Nothing wrong with it, but its not quite in a great place yet

That is the first time I have seen something like that. And I love how much sense it makes. It feels like something an actual military would have it do
Holy crap, how is this not an official anime yet!? The animations, the action, the mechs!? This is literally the coolest thing I've ever seen and it was done by college students! Those kids are going places because I am completely hooked in this.
Sadly it does not have any idol girls singing trying to appeal to the 13 yr olds which will make it harder.

Generally speaking, the only way a project like that is going to succeed is if a bigger studio takes it on. And well, one of the reason anime like this don't do as well is down to production interference. It could lose all the charm it has just because the higher ups in the studio (or worse, the publishers) say they want to take it in another direction. And with the characters being CGI, if the budget for animation is cut, they could become rather lifeless looking.
Oh, and the complexity of that unit at the end would have to be stepped down. You don't get a show like this off the ground without having something to sell, and that looks WAY too complicated to make a figure or model kit of. Too many moving panels.
This kind of work shows that CG CAN look great, so why the hell does it never look good in industry anime? Fantastic work with this, you are really putting the anime industry to shame and I am interested to see where it goes
The best CG anime I've ever seen were done by Polygon, and that's because they don't try to emulate 2d anime animation with a CG format. Way too many cg anime try to do that and they fail all the time.

Not sure how this showed up on my feed, but glad it did. This is pretty damned good. I really like the art style, its a nice mesh of minimalistic style with highly shaded edges and highly detailed action-packed scenes. I'd watch more of this :)
Have you seen knights of sidonia? It's got a similar style and great story.
短いシークエンスの中に人類側の作戦、敵の正体不明の恐ろしさと人類を滅ぼせる力、人類の力が通用しない絶望、戦線の崩壊と反撃の芽、という流れが無理なく、わざとらしくないのにちゃんと情報が提示されてて映像としてもナラティブとしてもクオリティ高くて素晴らしいです キャラクターも狙いすぎた感じがないのに可愛くかっこよく魅力的
途中から完全に自主制作って事を忘れて魅入ってしまった。
本当に凄い。映像としての完成度の高さに本当に驚いた。
制作に関わった人達の今後の活躍に期待します。
この神作画が16分でしかもUA-camで何回も見れるってほんと最高だよな

いやはやとんでもないクオリティですね…言うまでもなく学生作品のレベルではない。私も一介のCGアニメーターですが、これほどの作品を作るのは技術だけじゃなくチームとしても並外れた努力と熱意・連携が必要だったはず。

Holy cow, this was really good! Somebody pay these guys and get us a full season. I have so many questions! It's like the beautiful love child of Macross and Mobile suit Gundam. I got like instantly invested in these three kids, I want to know their story.

man.. this is better than half the newer Gundam. You can feel the weight and clunkiness of the mecha. The newer stuff is like acrobatics machines.. they don't feel like heavy mechs.
Well, I love the optimistic but the song composter of this series just past away last year ago and they put the hold on the anime for the moment, soo this will take a while :/

This is one of those things that only a dedicated few people go through with, with utmost detail in mind. Fucking awesome.
The Audio and SFX really detail making all of the scene even more alive .

This was phenomenal for an indie production. Loved the Mecha designs and the dark atmosphere. You can definitely see the Gundam and Transformers inspiration.
I'm excited to see more. Y'all hooked pretty quickly. And the voice work was spot on.

It’s actually insane how high quality this is, I’m really hoping that the creator continues with it and makes a full series. This is absolutely amazing.

I hate that I've put this on my watch later and didn't touch it for so long. The mechs' motions, the premise, the visuals, the characters, the story, everything about these 16 minutes and 17 seconds just makes me want more of it.

Those mechs look absolutely amazing! They look the most 2d out of anything. You guys made the most out of the 3d medium and it shows! I'd want to see more from you guys in the future

Man this was amazing I loved everything about it. The designs, the atmosphere, music, characters,the way the mechs were uniformed, the fact that pilots weren’t perfect they made judgements calls. Reviving my love for mecha.
I found this by chance thanks to watching some random fights from other mech animes. Glad I did because it's amazing, very impressive. If I didn't read the description I would have never thought a student made this. I'm hopeful for another episode and I think you have something amazing here. Best of luck.

戦闘シーンも綺麗だったし、この絶望感堪らんし、先が見えなくなった状況での仲間との会話とかもとても好きです。ずっと綺麗で夢中でした。仲間のところに戻ってきて、その場で崩れてしまうところとかも、なんとも言えない感情になり泣きました。

Saw this on my recommended list and thought, "huh. I don't remember watching any mecha related content on youtube. Might as well see what this is." I watched from beginning to end. I enjoyed everything from start to end. Can't wait for more.

Just from what we've seen this could easily become the flagship series of an entirely new studio. In addition to being an absolute juggernaut of start to the careers of everyone involved!
This is very good indie project, but for become flagship series is still very far. Even in this animation you can still find dna from aldnoah zero, gundam, sidonia, and the story is not unique or stand out.

You have me convinced that the people working on this show love what they're doing. No other sci-fi show pays attention to details like that.
I assume it means "Armor Piercing Fin Guided Discarding Sabot" which makes sense for ammnition meant for long range engagements beyond visual range compared to APFSDS or "Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot"

Amazing for student work...didn't know until I saw comments which prompted me to read the full description.
What's also amazing is that for student work on 3d/CGI this is really freaking good. I mean really good movement, no terribly rigid bodies, the physics work. I've seen RWBY for like 4 seasons and this is much more realistic and closer to real live action with real people/actors.
Seriously, props to you guys who made this.

Good work on the video, this was really fun to watch.Please keep working on this, it has the potential to be an epic story which is different from a lot of the common anime today. The music for this was also well made and the artist should be proud of their work.
