    Another good video though the difference between PvE and PvP cannot be overstated. This patch, with the increased payouts I’ve been focusing on bounty hunting, trying to improve my skills to the extent where I’m doing HVRT missions in a Avenger with no problem.
    Considering myself an Ace I decided to do player bounties and promptly got my a.. handed to me on a plate.
    The embarrassing conclusion to these episodes is usually my would be target telling me “GG” or so I tell myself, the reality is that they are really saying “Get Good”. :(

      Well I think a lot more of PvP at the moment is exploiting the meta and ship knowledge, so I'm not sure it's the same skillset sadly!

      Sane situation here. While being modestly good myself in PvP, given I’m playing with K&M there’s not much Incan do against joystick players and those battles are usually finished before I can engage :) Also I’ve found that the loadout for PvE missions is rarely the same you’d use for PvP, so even with the same same ship and using some joyatick combination setup, if you’re not specially equipped for PvP you’ll have a hard time fighting the player. Last, it’s usually better to run from an un-expected PvP scenario than play hero and have to wait the reclaim time. As usual, pick the right tool for the right job: if you know you will be doing PvP, choose a ship than can do it and equip accordingly. And of course HOSAS or even a joystick and mouse setup will make a hell of difference.

      I think PVE actually makes you a worse pilot because the AI is so bad. Most of the guys you encounter on the PVP bounty missions are very good players who are looking for fights, so mostly people taking those missions lose. The average pilot in the verse isn't that great. Before 3.0 there used to be a lot of PVP fighting around SPK and most of the pilots who came to try their skills after fighting pirates got demolished.

      @@Farrister It used to be the go to site for learning combat for most players back in the 2.X days, but then Whitesnake got busy and stopped making videos and the flight model went to hell so it wasn't worth it to many players. Noobifier recently put out a video talking about how right they got the flight model originally and how it's declined over the years. I think I would personally be happy enough if they just buffed the strafe so there was the possibility to maneuver in a fight instead of just fighting head to head.

    Nice and calm video that is for sure useful for newer players. Few people mentioned proper explanation about counter measures, but there is one thing that I can't find anyone mentioning at all. You can target lock missiles fired at you and "kill" them before the impact. This is not easy to pull out without something like voice attack, or just knowledge about the ships you are fighting, and this is mostly useful in PVP scenarios as I don't remember AI ships firing missiles at me that often. Thanks for helping new folks out and spreading the word around o7

    Generally a good introduction on the systems. Some corrections: Multiple missile locks has been around for many years. An important correction is that decoy and noise countermeasures are *NOT* flares and chaff: They are not connected to IR or EM. Decoys help you dodge any type of missile, and a noise field will hide you from any type of missile (it will also hide you from the opponent's instruments, so you can break a radar lock and run away). Also, decoys and noise fields relate to your ship signature (in EM/IR), so if your signature is high, decoys and noise fields don't help as much and a stealth ship is helped better by decoys and noise fields.

    Nice video. Couple comments, I guess I would have left out the shield management and stealth as they are more advanced things. Most players don't manage their shields at all and I think it's rare than I think about it (mostly for PVP). I guess I would have added in some flying stuff like using strafe to avoid getting hit in the PVE missions or how to turn efficiently. Most new players I see go straight at the enemy, shoot and blow by 2K past them. By the time they get back the enemy's shields have recharged. The other thing, and maybe I missed it, is talking about the screens that show your shield strength/damage and that of the opponent. You need to monitor that and pull back if your shields are low or know how close the other guy is to popping. There is a ton to know about combat, like how to choose weapons and components, but I think you did a nice overview for new players.

    Nice 101 video! 😊
    However I think you got the part on countermeasures wrong. If I'm not wrong myself, it used to work like you said (flare against heat seekers, chaff against radar guided missiles) but that chanced recently. The new decoys simply present a large signature for any (afaik) missile and tries to pretend a juicy fake target to the missile. The new noise countermeasures (that looks a bit like chaff with a small puffy cloud of stuff ejected from the vessel) actually does not present a fake signature but rather masks YOUR signature. The enemy actually will lose radar contact, target lock and missile lock on your ship for a few seconds (enough to get away or start a surprise maneuver).

    I like to keep my weapons on 2 groups even if I only have 2 guns. I use MxA cannons a lot. And they overheat quickly. So you can give 1 an extra second or 2 to cool while still having 1 active. Or stagger fire, doubling your fire rate, or having a shot ready when you need it.

    A great guide, but you made a little mistake with how missile countermeasures work.
    Ever since the old Flares/Chaff have been replaced by Decoys/Noise, missile tracking has been changed too.
    Heatseekers have been all but removed from the game and Decoys can now distract all kinds of missiles with varying efficiency.
    Noise on the other hand is meant to break up a radar lock, since it will baffle the sensors of all ships caught in its range. That means smaller ships can even hide in the cloud and be completely concealed for the duration.
    Also on a side note: how dare you tell people how to find my glorious Stealth ships? XD

    8:02 can you only lock as many missiles as you have racks (like one per rack) or can you lock, um, all of them at once? I haven’t messed with them much because it seems when you start using them against bounties they start using them too, but if you don’t they won’t.

      I think you're doing absolutely the right thing - doing your research before you buy! Personally, I love Star Citizen, I think it's a great game, especially if you have some friends who play. If you do decide to go for it, my one piece of advice is that you do not need to spend a fortune, so many players buy very expensive ships (myself included) but all you really need is a good solid starter package, and you can probably use that to set you up to buy the rest in-game.

    • @gatorpika
      @gatorpika 3 роки тому

      If buggy gameplay pisses you off, don't buy it. It's still very much in alpha. You can have some good times, but also be very frustrated at times as well.

    • @paulvarn4712
      @paulvarn4712 3 роки тому +1

      Lag targeting isn't the fault of the targeting system, but the sometimes slow response of the servers which are more often than not, overworked. Just keep aiming where the target would have been if the jink didn't happen and more often than not, you'll be on target when the server catches up to the prediction system. This is really what is happening. Continuous position from the server is lost, prediction takes over and after the server catches up, the system tries to reconcile the two.
