I've purchased a usb mic and also FL Studio 20 & have been pulling my hair out, hopefully Garageband will be much easier to navigate for my caveman mentally. All I want to do is record myself singing & playing an acoustic guitar simultaneously before I start trying to use tracks.
ha I hear you Jr Bondy, my story is that I started with Pro tools ($600) and couldn't figure it out as a beginner so I resorted to GarageBand (because it was on my computer) and I found it MUCH easier to navigate/learn how to make music. -Dean
@@thesongwritingstudio5783 ;hey thanks, yeah I went with FL Studio 20 thinking that would be easy but I just sit there staring & stumped. First time using it I really had some great guitar & voice setup & was impressed but I could never do it again, I must of just got lucky.
I’ve resorted to garage band on my iPhone now & hopefully will have better success. Wish I’d of kept the numerous cassette & reel to reel recorders that served me well for many years. Definitely will take a look at your videos. Thanks
@@lpjbird ha I hear ya. GarageBand for me is place to learn the craft without having to know the fancy terms or be a tech wizard. If you grow enough to discover limitations then you can certainly step into a bigger program but now you have some knowledge and experience when you do.... and ha yeah, those would be nice! -Dean
Thank you for this video you make everything sound simple I can’t wait to get started also you have a great voice
So glad it was helpful Ray... and thanks! -Dean

ha glad it was helpful! If you want a lot more lessons just like this then check out my GarageBand iOS Masterclass For Beginners dean-davis.mykajabi.com/offers/wTALZzxv which has more than 25 video lessons (and this tutorial was taken straight form that course :P). -Dean
I thought the comments were exaggerating but no your video is REALLY that helpful
Ah that's so kind Cat! So glad the video was actually helpful! :P -Dean
I was going to get a new MacBook, but I got an iPad Pro because I like how I can set it on the music stand for piano. I’m totally challenging myself to see how much I can accomplish on GarageBand for iOS. There’s so much I can do and I’m already feeling pretty happy (I’m not an experienced DAW user at all!).
That's so cool to hear Jeremy, thanks for sharing and have fun! -Dean
dam there was sm more , learned a lotttttt thank youu!!!!
Thank you so much brother
You're very welcome Sharada!
This helped so so much thanks so so much! Even just the auto play helped! 😄👍
Wow! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
That was great, do you have videos for plugging in guitars via interface, and external mics
For those of us who actually play?
Hey there! I do have a video on that for the Mac version but not for iOS!.. but you can check out my friend Pete's channel where he shows you how! ua-cam.com/video/Sc-_LiuqiRA/v-deo.html

Hey there! Here is a video on how to use the computer version of GarageBand! ua-cam.com/video/FZnXhP8PTNM/v-deo.html Hope that helps! -Dean
Thanks for the help. Just got an iPhone and saw garage band. I use cakewalk and some other high-end stuff, but the learning curve is so steep. sometimes simpler is better or as they say, less is more.
Wow how cool is that I learn a lot man thanks
So glad it was helpful Shawn! -Dean
Got really amazed of your voice. 😂❤️👏🏻
I just got my first iPad today and the app is already installed by default.
I haven't been on GarageBand since I was in elementary school and I'm hoping this video is going to be a big help.
Nice, have fun with it!
@@thesongwritingstudio5783
I'm just having a slight issue following your tutorial because it's looks different on the iPhone version than the iPad and my only experience I have with GarageBand was in elementary school.
I don't have any experience with iPads since my first one was from a pawn shop and the only reason why I just recently bought another years after giving away the pawn shop iPad is because I could use the OMB and other similar apps for the OMB device that I had installed on my guitar.
@@gaming4life392 Understood! They do look slightly different but they do function almost exactly the same! If I mention a feature that you can't find on the iPad I would hit pause on the video and do some looking around until you find that button
Nice video! Very clear and easy to understand!
Glad it was helpful David!
Thank you so much. I needed this video right now!🙏
You're very welcome v. chioma glad it was helpful! -Dean

Hey..... Whether are Garage Band is available in Iphone SE?.....
Been sorta hired ( not payed ) to make music for a roblox game.
Been interesting in music but couldn’t really find a good app. The one I used before didn’t really work.
Dude. Thanks so much. Gonna be creating a lot of music from here on out.
I’ve been getting better at ableton live on pc but I’ve noticed I get my best musical ideas randomly when I’m away from my computer so I wanted to find a easy way to put melodies down and demos made for me to redo on ableton when I’m home. Great video!
bundles of thanks
really helps me a lot
Very well done. I'm about as computer proficient as a wild boar but you make this quite easy
