That’s an awesome fx trick along with the Drummer to midi and the other ones. I wonder what other hidden tricks these developers can be hiding from us. And they probably have a lot
Really cool tips Pete! Especially the merge feature. I didnt know it eases up the processing. Much needed for my maxed out tracks. Once again, you made my production easier. Thanks my friend!
@@PeteJohnsMusic Yeah, I missed a lot of cool things since I was stucked at GB on iPadmini2 where iOS 14 is not available. But now I have modern iPad with the last GB version, specially bought to have all-in-one for making music. And I always happy to find some hidden features for advansed users.
Gain level mixing or gain mixing is also another way to raise and lower volumes without having to move the mixing level itself. So combine the automations with your method and mine and I’m sure it’ll create a good master idea. To gain mix, you have to have audio recordings only, so normalize all your tracks individually or together and then do the gain from the audio track itself, which will be gain mixing, Or as you put it clip gain. Hopefully you see this bc this just answered your issue with the midis and other instruments used.
Once again...a great video Pete! Is it a good idea , if once happy with the levels , panning etc....to merge all tracks before moving to Audio Share, Final Touch Etc. ?
Hi Pete, awesome vid as always. However, I may be slow of study, but your intro where you touch base on using an FX track to use as a master volume control is something I've been trying to do but just can't make it happen. Do you have a link to a video where you explain that? I did searches and found out how to play with FX but could not find how to create a blank FX track meant to do a master volume control. I appreciate your feedback!
Man. I was splitting my guitar tracks into chunks then adjusting them using clip gain to fade in or out. Didn’t realise how to use automation to do it! 🙄
Hi Pete, Good tips, thanks. Question about merging: So, if you're happy with the midi track you created and you know you're not going to change or edit it, can you merge it to a stereo file and delete the midi track? Would you do that to all midi tracks once you're happy with your project? .... I just watched it again and saw how it saves the midi, Thanks!
Hey Phil. Yup, glad the MIDI info made sense. And yes, if you definitely don't want the MIDI info ever again, just merge it and delete the duplicated projects.
My iPad guide is here / studiolivetoday.com/ipad If money was no object I’d go the iPad Pro M1. Probably the 1tb model to get the 16gb of RAM. The base model ipad 2020 model is actually pretty strong too if you’re looking for a budget solution.
Hey there. Look at some audio unit effects like the chorus, flanger and microphaser. Try some of the “riser” effect loops in GarageBand iOS. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Maybe I’m about to learn some magic secrets to change my mind. But as far as I’m concerned, the mobile app GB is such a pain in the ass it’s basically useless.
All comes down to what works for you and your workflow. I find it works great for me and others love it. Some find it really doesn’t work for the way they create. Different strokes for different folks.

It doesn’t seem to do much merging down as opposed to just exporting, at least in my experience.
My recent project section has over 180+ projects so I have a lot of organizing to do
Best of luck!

The Autoplay trick seems not to work for 7th chords…😳
Oh really? Yeah maybe not. 🤔
Is there anyway to start a song in 4x4 and then change during the song to 6x8 or 3x4
Hey there. Yes, there is a workaround for this but it’s not formally supported. ua-cam.com/video/gRPBQovD1D0/v-deo.html
