Ok, that doesn't happen on my Ipad. Under LOCATIONS there is only RECENTLY USED. There is no list to choose from. I need your help :/ whenever I create a new track and want to record something there, it goes into a sort of full screen recording mode so that i can no longer see all the other tracks. do you know how to change it so that it looks like in your video?

In one of your previous videos you showed how to use a lightning cable and hook up a interface with a AC powered USB with four ports how do you transfer that to a additional external hard drive
Hi Pete, et al, How would a poor soul like me send the audio output from an iPad to the audio input on an iPhone? Use case: I attend a Zoom meeting on my iPad, but some people don’t speak English. I use my iPhone running Google Translate transcribe feature. Right now I just hold my phone to the speaker. I did some research for a software solution or hardware, but I can’t figure it out. I tried a iPad headphone to TRS to TRRS cable into a Headphone to Lightning jack. I tried a few apps that claimed to be Airplay receivers, but still no luck.
Hey there. The headphone jack on an iOS device will only input mono audio using a TRRS microphone. But will output stereo so if you have an audio interface on the other device to receive the input it will work. ua-cam.com/video/Dbz8sxuy5X0/v-deo.html
Hey Pete I am way late to the party but decided I need to learn this stuff. Thanks for the great intro. Since I’m a newbie should I just skip to logic? Right now most of my stuff is one take recordings or collaboration and I play a few of the instruments or find a friend to send me a part. Referred to you by Thomas Christ and Jade.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete that was my thought as well..From your first video I was able to put a song together fairly quickly., (full credit to your lesson) .I'll probably replace the GB instruments with actual instruments can I import audio as a track ?
Hey from Dublin. Cool video thanks so much for sharing An observation. It seems to me that GarageBand on iPhone (I have a 12 pro max) is limited when compared to GarageBand on iPad. I am specifically referring to the “input” options. I record bass guitar covers etc and I cannot connect my bass signal from my new Focusrite Scarlett 212 (4th Gen) Audio Interface to Garage band on my iPhone as there is limited input options (I believe input option 1 or 2 appears on iPad but not on iPhone) Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cheers Niall 🎸
Hey there. GarageBand iPhone should also have the ability to change your inputs? Make sure you’re using the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter. Http://studiolivetoday.com/gear
@@PeteJohnsMusic Hey Pete. Thanks so much for your response. It is very much appreciated. I’m connecting a non apple USB-C to Lightning cable from the rear of my Scarlett into my iPhone. The only Input Options I’m being offered on Garage Band iPhone is “Noise Gate”. So, I can’t get any further and while I can clearly hear the Bass in my ears it’s not transferring / captured on my iPhone. Maybe, as you recommend, I need to get a real Apple Lightning to USB-C Cable/Adaptor. Many thanks anyway. Niall 🎸

Hi Pete I just got GB on my new iPad and just noticed you have 12 chords on your guitar fret board but I only have 8. Could you please tell me how I can change mine.
Sorry! Unfortunately this relates to your screen size only. If you have a bigger (12.9”) iPad screen you will get more frets. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
@@PeteJohnsMusic Pete I have figured it out . I had 2 identical iPad Pro 12.9 but 1 was set to zoom on the Apple settings that’s why I had 8 frets on 1 and 12 on the other . Thanks for you help.
I record using my Focusrite 2i2 interface into iPad Pro using a condenser mic which take 48 volts , but my IpadPro battery is draining all its batter power. I’m using an Apple USB 3 to plug into iPad. Why does NOT ONE video show how ,and what you need to power the IPAD ? I’m so frustrated that all you people ASSUME everyone should know how to power the iPad without draining your iPad batter !
Hey there. You either need a standard USB A/C power supply in to the Lightning port, or use a powered USB hub. This web page has some info that will help you. studiolivetoday.com/usb
Hey Pete, I tried deleting about 3 GB of old garage band projects today to try to get some cloud storage space back. In the end I probably only got like 100 mg of that storage back. I was wondering if you’ve ever experienced this problem?
Hey there. Hmmmm…. So, jump over to your Files app and check the “Recently Deleted” folder. This video will help show how - ua-cam.com/video/MVp-AxhZkao/v-deo.html&feature=shares
it looks like the 15.5 release has caused a problem for Grageband, midi keyboards that use the USB connection not working. My Yamaha keyboard no longer works as a midi. Bet this is causing huge problems for some. If you have a DIM outlet then it can work with that.
Hello, I wanna ask a question about track view. While you recordIng the battery in the begining the video, there is just a one row of trackview on top of the screen. How did you do that? When I press the record button on my iPad mini 5 track view hiding. If you can answer this, I will be more than happy because now I feel like I am blind while I am playing instruments. Best regards,
Hey there. This will depend on the size of your iPad screen. If you have a smaller device it won’t show the track view at al. But you can use this hack to record in track view if you’re using an audio interface. ua-cam.com/video/qdgd3xpnUgk/v-deo.html
Pete Johns And motivates. Yesterday watched this one, and right after video I got to my project in GB, it was a good session. I didn’t plan to, but at the end of day I did. So, yes. A lot of value.
Hey there. There are ways to determine a key signature, but if you don't know it and won't use the smart instruments to match an imported sample, then you don't need to change it.
Fantastic GarageBand video thanks mate 👍 In the late 80s I was part owner of a 4 track recorder that used compact cassettes, the band I was in bought it so we could record jam sessions and make demo tapes, things have changed so much 😂 Eventually I kind of stopped making music and only occasionally picked up a guitar to noodle around or jam along to something. I never even looked at GarageBand until recently after one of your videos came up in my feed. I started playing with the beat sequencer on my iPad and remembered I had an old iRig thingy that connects guitar through the iPad earphone socket. I dug that out and started making tracks using the virtual instruments in GarageBand and real guitars. Now I’m hooked and thinking about picking up a MIDI keyboard and proper audio interface for external instruments/mic. I owe you a big thanks for getting me back into making music and helping me learn how to use GarageBand 🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely the best garage band instructor I have come across so far. Thank you for the videos!
Very welcome Michael. Thanks for the kind words.
I need your help :/ whenever I create a new track and want to record something there, it goes into a sort of full screen recording mode so that i can no longer see all the other tracks. do you know how to change it so that it looks like in your video?
Unfortunately not. You can upgrade to Logic Pro if this is really important to you. I have a heap of videos on Logic Pro for iPad here. ua-cam.com/play/PLc8Xg_23Wa55Eoyv7FZFhX9URoXxbC3l9.html&si=SjuyBnpTppW5s5Ie
When writing a song, if you have it sectioned out intro-verse-bridge. If the outro is same as intro, do you need to copy intro to the backend of song track, How does this work?
Hey there. So, you can if you want exactly the same audio. Just select all and copy and paste. ua-cam.com/video/ZsCmCcaPeP4/v-deo.htmlsi=GuuO2c8e-Tc21Qkv
Im thinking of buying an ipad as I miss garageband which i used fo use on my Mac, but now i ony have a PC
My question is can i use garageband on an ipad without an iphone? 🙏
Yup. Sure can. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
I can’t figure out how to record garage band instruments over an audio recording? All I get is one loop and it won’t let me record any garage band instruments over it ????
Hey there. You’ll need a new audio track to record over your backing track. Check out my videos and guides here. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
In one of your previous videos you showed how to use a lightning cable and hook up a interface with a AC powered USB with four ports how do you transfer that to a additional external hard drive
Hey there. Don’t quite follow your question sorry? All my USB info is here. studiolivetoday.com/usb
scratch vocal is a keeper, even if the rest gets discarded - feels like the song played over the end credits in some mid sixties italian movie…..
Thanks my friend.
Hi Pete, et al,
How would a poor soul like me send the audio output from an iPad to the audio input on an iPhone?
Thank you so much for this video, it was really helpful.

Hey there Andy. I think there’s benefits in learning GarageBand first. It’s free for starters, and almost all of the skills are transferable.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete that was my thought as well..From your first video I was able to put a song together fairly quickly., (full credit to your lesson) .I'll probably replace the GB instruments with actual instruments can I import audio as a track ?
Hi 😎😒
Hey there.
How much different is GarageBand on the iPad compared to the iPhone?
Not very different. Mostly layout differences due to screen sizes.
Hey from Dublin. Cool video thanks so much for sharing
An observation. It seems to me that GarageBand on iPhone (I have a 12 pro max) is limited when compared to GarageBand on iPad. I am specifically referring to the “input” options.
I record bass guitar covers etc and I cannot connect my bass signal from my new Focusrite Scarlett 212 (4th Gen) Audio Interface to Garage band on my iPhone as there is limited input options (I believe input option 1 or 2 appears on iPad but not on iPhone)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Niall 🎸
Niall 🎸
Can my song get copyrighted if I use Apple Loops?
This will help answer this. ua-cam.com/video/IIqi6TRnTk4/v-deo.htmlsi=JgK-Ce7omFLHIMum
You talk so fast without any pause or full stop. Please talk slowly. Its not race talk competition
This one is from a while ago. I’ve improved my clarity. Also don’t forget you can adjust the speed. ua-cam.com/video/x7fQ5-y-y_s/v-deo.html&feature=shares
I'm too lazy to use a microphone on GarageBand, but I can talk if needed. Sorry about that.
Fair enough!

Jacques Cousteau You may also need to get a new battery for your iPad as well.
This all makes me feel like a fkn dummy! Lol I need somebody to work with.
Just keep working at it and you’ll get there.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks a lot Pete. Very helpful video. You rock 🎸 🤘
it looks like the 15.5 release has caused a problem for Grageband, midi keyboards that use the USB connection not working. My Yamaha keyboard no longer works as a midi. Bet this is causing huge problems for some. If you have a DIM outlet then it can work with that.
Interesting? I haven’t used my MIDI keyboard since updating. Will have to check it out.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Interested to know your thoughts.
Hello,
I wanna ask a question about track view.

Yes I have Behringer UMC22. Almost the same with your um2 in the video.

🤣 Not very intuitive... Understatement of the year!
Er. Ya.
You are the man Pete.....IM BACKKKKKKKK

if you dont know the key signature do you just leave it then?
Hey there. There are ways to determine a key signature, but if you don't know it and won't use the smart instruments to match an imported sample, then you don't need to change it.
Every time I try and save it to iCloud the file disappears.
That’s weird? Maybe provide some info and ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group. createrecordreleaae.com
Thank you so much for the kind comment my friend. This is exactly why I started the channel and it really means a lot to hear that I'm helping other folks create more music.

I’ve been using GarageBand IOS to make music for a while now. No plugins or cables or any of that, all purely from what the app has to offer. There are of course some limitations, but it get’s the job done at the end of the day. And for the kind of stuff I like to make, it’s all I could need 👍
Nice one! Thanks for taking the time to comment. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Can songs recorded on mac be edited on iPad?
Not really. You can go from iOS to Mac but not really from Mac back to iOS. Unless you just send the audio stems.
Enjoying your channel very much - it’s exactly what I need to start recording my own music. Thanks! Cheers - J.D.
Very glad to hear it. Glad to have you on board.
