"If they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks they're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box" is one of my all time fave lyrics!!!!

The Wall is about a British kid whose father was killed in WW2, and the songs in order tell the story of his childhood, being a mama's boy, ostracized in school for being imaginative and nonconforming, growing up to be a rock star, touring the United States, missing his mom, but feeling free from her at the same time, cheating on his wife who is also cheating on him, being so doped that he can't perform for his gig, so his doctor gives him different medicines that enable him to perform, he ends up losing touch with reality, withdraws inside himself, and builds a wall around himself so he won't have to deal with the things he just can't deal with anymore, so anybody who wants to interact with him personally is out of luck.

Comfortably Numb and Run like hell live from the Pulse concert will blow your mind. I'm dying for when you do it. Trust us it's amazing I was there on that tour and the live versions blow the studio out of the water.
So very true. I saw Pink Floyd in 1972 at Winterland in San Francisco. Best concert I've seen, both musically and visually. BTW, that concert cost me about $3.50, maybe $3.75. Great daze for concerts back then.
Pulse live a Earl's Court london England or The Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour concert my Favourite Pink Floyd's concerts and there both available on UA-cam 👍
What I believe most listeners have missed is, the album is about growing up in a post WW2 England where fathers, teachers, police, politicians and others of authority are all victims of "shell shock" which today is known as PTSD. Having grown up in England, in the 60s, I can absolutely relate. It's not about taking drugs to understand the message within!
@@heinzspuerkel They need to do The Wall movie on their other channel. Otherwise this song makes little sense in the Pink Floyd catalogue, which is generally more psychedelic. Besides, the movie is amazing.
You guys REALLY owe it to yourselves to watch/listen to Comfortably Numb live from the Pulse concert. Widely regarded as the best guitar solo ever recorded. I’ve seen people moved to tears by David Gilmore’s playing.
This is the last song in the Pulse concert and the live version is even more powerful than the studio version...it comes right after Comfortably Numb so it's an amazing climax to an extraordinary concert.
I don't think they know that Pink Floyd have played live and some of their recorded concerts like Pulse are astounding and bring their music to a completely remarkable level!
Seconded! This album has to be experienced in its entirety. With The Who’s “Tommy” and Rush’s “2112” (& “Hemispheres”) it’s the pinnacle of the concept album (organized around a cohesive theme) where it’s a complete story. It’s such an epic introspective journey. I first heard it as a kid, but it honestly took me years to digest it. Every time I hear it I get something new out of it and it never disappoints!
I came to say the same thing, definitely has some good singles but this was an album made with a distinct purpose: to tell a story. One of my favorites of all time!!
I think the album relates more to isolationism and the fear of being abandoned. Everyone has their own take of course but after so many listens for over 40 years, I've come to the conclusion that the character Pink, is Syd Barrett
Agreed. The performance from the Pulse concert is otherworldly. The truest measure of master craftsman at the tip if the spear. It was so transformative that it made me a Floydian in every sense of the word.
Pink Floyd The wall is a concept double album meant to be heard in it's entirety, because all the songs tie into each other. Glad you guys enjoyed this song!
It's a Beatles t-shirt but Amber even wore pink today in honour of her official status as a Floydian Forever! Great reaction you two! I don't know if you have reacted to "Us And Them" yet, but if you haven't please put it on your list!
This was the show closer on the pulse tour in ‘94 and at Earls Court,London, the explosion at the end made EVERYONE jump a foot in the air. Best show I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to hundreds and hundreds.
Ahh - memories of "The Wall" concert. A mind blowing experience. This music was made to be played with a theater-in-the-round sound system. Definitely head tripping music 🎶
I will never get sick of listening to the entirety of Pink Floyd albums. I really appreciate how they changed though the years. From jam band, to psychedelic space rock, to blues based progressive rock.
You'll have to check out their live version of this from the "Pulse" tour. They closed the show with this and it killed. One of the few instances I know of a live version of a song surpassing the studio version. It's available on YT.
I remember seeing the movie "The Wall" in a small theater near a college campus back in the day...can't think of a word to describe seeing it at the time--was definitely an experience! "Comfortably Numb" will always be my favorite song but "Run Like Hell" is fantastic...Pink Floyd ROCKS!!!
This song really captures the sense of urgency of both running away from a moment in time, and towards a destination all at once. Brilliant song structural emoting by a brilliant band: I never expect anything less 🔥🎸.
You really need to react to the Pulse live concert version. It's the last song of the concert and they finish "with a bang". Also react to the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb as well. You won't be disappointed. Pink Floyd are known for their live shows as they incorporate lasers, pyrotechnics, and an insane amount of lighting.
“The Wall” is my favorite album of all time by any rock band. This is just a great banger and an underrated gem. I only saw Pink Floyd live once but as of today it’s still the best concert I’ve ever seen. It was such an immersive experience at the time. I’m loving y’all’s choices lately. Shine on you crazy Pink Floyd fans!
Everytime you dont do them live I die a little inside. You should see what is going into these sounds. The bass in this song is crazy and you have to see it.
The first time you hear certain Pink Floyd songs they feel like they have been a part of your playlist forever already. You are sure that can't be true because you know it was the first time you heard it, but they will be on your playlist forever now.
If you ever get the chance to see Brit Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band, run like hell to get tickets...they are amazing! It's like seeing Pink Floyd in 1994. They're touring right now.
The Album, Live Performances and tye Film used the art of Gerald Scarfe, whose favourite subject at the time may have been Margaret Thatcher. It's a very British theme, with all the WW2 and post war societal trauma evoked.
If you have not seen it, you guys really need to watch the movie PINK FLOYD THE WALL , it makes all these songs make a lot more sense, because the double album is a Rock Opera that tells a story of the life of a rock star from childhood to adult. There is very little dialog, the songs tell the story. It is awesome and the imagery is fantastic. Love what you guys do, as an old guy that grew up in the 70's I really like seeing y'all enjoying all these great songs from my youth.
They are masters at evoking certain feelings and painting pictures with the lyrics and music. Please react to Pink Floyd live at Pompeii 1971. This is simply a masterpiece!
When I saw PF at the Oakland Coliseum for their Division Bell Tour aka Pulse they closed the show with this. Was epic. Was with my wife and unborn son at the time. I know he felt this show.
When he was just four, I took my oldest son to his first rock concert in 1980. It was the Floyd's The Wall tour concert at Earl's Court in London. He'd never looked so entranced as he did that night. The intro riff of Run Like Hell was the first thing he learned to play once he had his first, miniature electric guitar, three years later.
This song in the movie "Pink Floyd's The Wall" is absolutely terrifying. The main body of the song follows a gang of Pink's fascist followers (known as "Hammers") as they wreak havoc on innocent citizens. It switches back and forth between that and watching one of his "concerts", which are really just Nuremberg-style Hitlerian fascist gatherings, where the "fans" stamp their feet while doing complicated hand gestures that end in a straight-armed salute. (Notice the chant "Hammer! Hammer!" at the end of the song. They're not cheering the band - they're psyching themselves up for mayhem after the show.) It's horrifying, a thousand times more NOW than it was in 1980 when this came out. Watch the film some time - it'll freeze your blood cold.
I think this scene was modelled after Kristallnacht during world war 2. In the context of the movie I think the main character's father was killed in World War 2 and may have something to do with this scene. But then again Roger Waters has been criticized through the years for his political views. I think the scene is posted on UA-cam.
I bought that album when it came out when I was 12! I still have it! Every song on it is great! Babylon, Shake That Fat etc. They formed out of the ashes of Spirit. Jay Ferguson went on to do the song Thunder Island.
Now sometime in the future you'll have to watch the live version from the Pulse concert!!! Pink Floyd are one of the rare bands who can take their epic studio versions and turn them into a masterpiece live! Just sayin' guys. Ray from Oklahoma 😀
Thank you guys for this great reaction to an amazing track! Can't stress it enough though...you guys definitley need to listen to this entire album from start to finish! Otherwise, it's like reading a novel just picking out certain chapters. Cheers!!
There's one scene in it too, that has music that isn't on the album. Oh, it's called Empty Spaces. It's the scene, or one of them anyway, where the wall is racing across the countryside, and you see that BMW in the wall, etc. When that extra bit really gets ramped up, which is very short, it's almost impossible to make out the lyrics without an online guide.
It is just crazy how Pink Floyd put you in a trace with every song. Every song is a master piece! You don't need to take the drugs to feel what they are saying, It insanity colliding with reality. What ever they where on worked!
One of my first jobs was running an amusement park ride that was enclosed in a dome with lights and music. All manual, bring your own music. So every ride was a unique experience. This was my favorite song to play.
At some point you guys are going to need to listen to "The Wall" in its entirety from beginning to end. They are telling a story about a guy named Pink and his relationship with the world and his Mother. Preferably vinyl as there are no breaks between songs - only from one disc to the next. 😎
So was this song. There's only a couple of songs from the original album that didn't end up in the movie, and one that was written specifically for it.
NO, not Young Lust. There are hundreds of better Pink Floyd songs than that one--my least fave on the Wall album. Hey You, Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky, Comfortably Numb, Little Blackbook, Thin Ice, Waiting for the Worms, Another Brick in the Wall etc...etc.. ALL better than Young Lust.
This on Pulse - Pink Floyd Live in 95 was absolutely beautiful. Great lighting sequences. or Watch the scene from the Wall movie to get Roger's vision of the lyrics.
I went on a trip with pink floyd music as a little kid because of my mom's brother when he lived with us. he had that 90s huge stereo and would play pink floyd music all the time. Brain Damage song scared me as a kid. I love Pink Floyd now I'm 36.
You two said that you wanted to see Pink Floyd live, but you will not react to the Pulse concert. It's by far the greatest live concert ever, and "Comfortable Numb" has the greatest guitar solo ever. Do not close your eyes (the light show is unbelievable), and don't interrupt David's solo. It does my old heart good to see youngsters discover the music I've enjoyed for 55+ years. Keep up the good work.
'Wish You Were Here' is the best Floyd album. Not one clunker. But 'The Wall' has 'Run Like Hell', 'Comfortably Numb', and 'Happiest Days of Our Lives' which are in my top 10 Floyd songs.
Of course, they have more popular songs, but this is my all-time favorite by them. Anytime you want to review a song by Pink Floyd, please feel free. If you haven't reviewed Learning to Fly, put it in the rotation. Also, you should watch the live video of this song. It's a mind blower.
I love pink floyd and I think you should watch there performances from there video album The Pulse ... this is a live concert and is fantastic. Comfortably Numb is in my opinion the greatest performance.
Love when you guys do Floyd such an expansive catalog....would love to see you do some pre Dark Side tracks Childhood's End, Careful with that Axe Eugene, One of These Days, Anything from Piper at the Gates of Dawn so many good ones keep up the great work!
Saw this flick in 1982 when it was released in the U.A. Theater, no one was there except myself and 5 friends. We were 16 years old, all ate mushrooms, then sat in different rows....they cranked the volume. Best movie I've ever seen!
If I may, a suggestion. You really need to check PF out live. My suggestion...the song "Sorrow" live from the Pulse concert 1994. In my humble opinion, one of their best live performances ever. The laser light show in conjunction with the line up is unmatched. Please, please give this track your consideration. Ray
Great Reaction and Feedback on this song....I feel like y'all should really consider reacting to the entire album of 'The Wall' at some point. This is one of those albums that is definitely worth a full listen.
This was the last song in the encore for concerts on the Pulse tour; definitely check that version out! Even though PF did partake of drugs to various degrees at various times, this album is really about withdrawing into yourself so far that you start treating the outside world as full of enemies to suppress. It's more complicated than that, but you get the gist!
It was the last song in both The Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason tours when I saw them. A lot of people had already left when they came back on stage when I saw them at Wembley, the people still leaving suddenly reversed themselves.
@@paulqueripel3493 Yes, I saw them on A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, and I think The Delicate Sound of Thunder is a musically superior performance to Pulse, but I love the whole of Pulse as a show more. Peace.
in the summer of 88 i got to see them in concert at the end of a runway in Mannheim Germany. That was one of the two absolute best concerts i’ve ever seen; flying beds, floating giant pig and all. it’s so sad that that day is gone. theo other best was at the same place in 87 seeing Genisis on their Invisible Touch tour.
"If they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks they're gonna send you back to Mother in a cardboard box" is one of my all time fave lyrics!!!!
It's the core issue for Pink right? The song Mother is the baseline for all the rest of the album?
Same here!
Isn't it rocks, or was the lyrics from the album changed? Locks makes more sense.
And as a teenager in 1979, I got the lyrics wrong and heard "cardboard box" as "Concord bus," which also makes sense.
will we get to see these 2 watch The Wall?
Movie reaction night will never complete without you two watching the movie. It will give you the whole story, and an even bigger appreciation for the musical genius of Pink Floyd.
From what I've heard it's really hard to find these days, but I could be wrong. I have it on DVD from way back when DVD's were new.
Yeah, I have the special edition DVD and it’s an amazing film but is hard to find and I’m pretty sure it’s never been on streaming.
@@stanmann356 The DVD & BR are available on Amazon. I just ordered one. I only have it on VHS.
Absolutely! Individual songs from the album are far from complete without the context. The film would be a great way to pull that all together.

I bought that album when it came out when I was 12! I still have it! Every song on it is great! Babylon, Shake That Fat etc. They formed out of the ashes of Spirit. Jay Ferguson went on to do the song Thunder Island.
Me too... Unfortunately my copy got destroyed in a fire in 1975. Great album.@@midnightrambler7716
Cheers!!
I saw them play this song 4x as their final encore. Quite the experience, it was like a fireworks show.
This album needs to be listened to in one sitting and from front to back!
We werre trippen i have played Guitar 60 years Pink Floyd great influnce on me and my brain .
One great way to listen to the whole album, is to watch the movie! It is just great!
Done that many of times on L.S.D
The adrenaline in this song, the violence in this song, remains me of the buzz just before a fight. The film is amazing too.
You should check out live version of this song so that David Gilmore can blow your mind with what he can do with a guitar. Legend!
Mother, live is quite the experience to.
Pulse is such a great version
WATCH THIS LIVE ...!!!!!! SO AWESOME 😎
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Young Lust"!! "Young Lust" was used in their movie 'The Wall'!!
WAIT!!!! Do "Young Lust" together with "Empty Spaces" which is a great intro connected with "Young Lust".
So was this song. There's only a couple of songs from the original album that didn't end up in the movie, and one that was written specifically for it.
Young Lust is a jam!
@@vaskylark and what of they have listened to all those songs already? 🤦
This on Pulse - Pink Floyd Live in 95 was absolutely beautiful. Great lighting sequences. or Watch the scene from the Wall movie to get Roger's vision of the lyrics.
I really missed Roger's passion, anguish, venom - Pulse was good, but original live performances were raw power amazing!
Amazing album. The movie is pretty trippy
I went on a trip with pink floyd music as a little kid because of my mom's brother when he lived with us. he had that 90s huge stereo and would play pink floyd music all the time. Brain Damage song scared me as a kid. I love Pink Floyd now I'm 36.
Pink Floyd takes you to a psychedelic sphere without drugs. Love to see y'all do a live stream with Pink Floyd's "Animals" Entire album is a must❤
can you imagine these 2 listening to The Wall on LSD?
“Do I hear … dogs barking.” “I do.”
I think these 2 are ready for Empty Spaces/Young Lust or One of My Turns
Have to agree with that..."The Wall" is an extremely close second for me to "Wish You Were Here".
That is my favorite Floyd album as well!
Goodbye Blue Skies really sets the tone for the rest of the album
can you imagine these 2 listening to The Wall on LSD?
The video concert PULSE song RUN ending is the best that Pink Floyd has ever done. You don't want to miss seeing that one.
I love Syd Barrett era Floyd. That would be awesome if they do one.
"See Emily Play" or "Arnold Layne"
One of These days for sure. It will blow their mind. So weird and awesome. Haunting and mysterious.
@@ssRocker-nn3tp I agree completely
Saw this flick in 1982 when it was released in the U.A. Theater, no one was there except myself and 5 friends. We were 16 years old, all ate mushrooms, then sat in different rows....they cranked the volume. Best movie I've ever seen!
Wish y'all would watch them live.u r missing out. This is probably one of their best live videos!!Pulse 94!!It was the show finale and it was amazing!!
Pink Floyd has many great songs but if I want to get lost in a killer groove this is my favourite.
If I may, a suggestion. You really need to check PF out live. My suggestion...the song "Sorrow" live from the Pulse concert 1994. In my humble opinion, one of their best live performances ever. The laser light show in conjunction with the line up is unmatched. Please, please give this track your consideration. Ray
This is great but the version on the Pulse concert will blow your mind.
Fearless is a deep track . Needs checking out
Jay & Amber already did a "Fearless" reaction, 4 months ago.
My favorite Pink Floyd song
Great Reaction and Feedback on this song....I feel like y'all should really consider reacting to the entire album of 'The Wall' at some point. This is one of those albums that is definitely worth a full listen.
Another great song to check out by Pink Floyd is One of These Days Live, Pulse, great bass line, light show, band interaction and visuals. 🤘😎🎸💀✊
Peace.
It was an incredible dance song as well. It's great to hear it in a club or at a party with giant subwoofers.
Listen to mother off of the wall album
Always loved pink Floyd 💗
PULSE...
in the summer of 88 i got to see them in concert at the end of a runway in Mannheim Germany. That was one of the two absolute best concerts i’ve ever seen; flying beds, floating giant pig and all. it’s so sad that that day is gone. theo other best was at the same place in 87 seeing Genisis on their Invisible Touch tour.
Hey guys. Love the channel. Have you guys checked out the movie to this album yet? It has a couple extra tracks on it and is a trip like none other.
