Well we told him, we rent the church, pay the church, for one passed leaving that place for the lastt ime, so this will be played.. High Hopes was the song... after the cermony, vicar came to me, and did say.. I read the lyrics last evening, reading me in to the sermon to give, thought to give the song a play aswell while doing so... Tghank you for introducing me to this, and the lyrics did fir quite well to your father, WOW I was stunned, and thanked the vicar. Dad was a busdriver, a darn proud one to be
This was basically their recording swan song - the final track on their last full studio album (they released one more - basically pieces not used before as a tribute to Richard Wright RIP - only one original song), This one is tracking their history as a band, from early struggles (and dreams of stardom) to their pinnacle and beyond, then back to earth, full of memories on how they got there and what will be next. Ultimately, it is a loving tribute to past (and fallen founder Syd Barrett RIP). The curly haired guy and the huge bust are images of him. An incredible classic, and example of Gilmour's ability to put emotion to music.
I’ve been a fan of the Floyd since the mid 70’s, and gotta say (as an old fart) that it is an absolute joy to see younger generations embracing and loving this band as much as we did and still do. If you get a chance, go see either Brit Floyd or Aussie Floyd - both tribute bands are fucking AMAZING.
A large glass of a good whiskey, a good quality cigar and a good set of headphones then press play for track 1. Chill out and listen to the entire album without interruption. A Perfect evening!
"Childhood's End" is lyrically on point for me. Not as many thrills as you'd find from them normally, but it doesn't disappoint. It truly doesn't matter what year you pick their music from, you emotionally feel some sort of way. I hope you guys are having a great week. -Amber

Songs amazing. First heard it on Pulse. The way it Dave swapped from the acoustic to the lap steel blew my mind. It was my best friends uncle that introduced me to the during a jam session. Absolutely amazing band. Hope you are both doing well.
One thing you'll notice with a lot of Floyd songs is the immortality of the essence and spirit of Sid Barrett. No matter what era, album or sound that the band moves from they always make some kind of tribute to their founding band mate, the fact he disbanded before they even really got world fame yet he is still breathed into life in some of their songs. In this song Sid is once again embedded into a song whether through lyrics or imagery such as the large stone sculpture/bust which is the face of Sid Barrett.
Exquisite. I saw Amber wipe away a tear at one point. This song has me in tears every time. I can't help but think of all that has been lost. One of the most poignant and bittersweet songs ever written.
I love that you reacted this way - this is EXACTLY the way I feel when I hear this song.....one of my FAVOURITE Floyd songs EVER! It always takes me a second or two to come back to earth after listening to this tune.
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

when my father dies, mu brother, sister and me had an argument with the vicar of his church for music played... he didn't want Pink Floyd, because guitars means devil or somthing... Tghank you for introducing me to this, and the lyrics did fir quite well to your father,
WOW I was stunned, and thanked the vicar. Dad was a busdriver, a darn proud one to be
This song and uncomfortably numb are my two favorites from Pink Floyd they're both epic and take you on a journey
This song is like silk....their best song, and their swan song. Last song on the album and the end of Pink Floyd live, in 94.
That four-note refrain Gilmour first plays at the 9:02 mark is his greatest since the one he created for Shine On You Crazy Diamond. A beautiful sigh.
A large glass of a good whiskey, a good quality cigar and a good set of headphones then press play for track 1. Chill out and listen to the entire album without interruption. A Perfect evening!
Probably my favorite Pink Floyd tune. 😊
Pink Floyd-Dogs. Absolutely amazing song.
i will try one more time lol.Nightwish did a tribute to Pink Floyd with High HOPES and absolutely killed it. please react to it. it is CHILLING
I concur!
I concur.
A beautiful song.
"Childhood's End" is lyrically on point for me. Not as many thrills as you'd find from them normally, but it doesn't disappoint. It truly doesn't matter what year you pick their music from, you emotionally feel some sort of way. I hope you guys are having a great week. -Amber
Spot on..Free Four is none too shabby lyrically either
@@PinkFloydKnew lyrics 100% truth in Free Four. Admittedly, when I listen to the album and it comes on, the beginning makes me smile so big. It’s gets overshadowed by the others and it’s a shame in my opinion. I hope you’re having a great week. -Amber
Songs amazing. First heard it on Pulse. The way it Dave swapped from the acoustic to the lap steel blew my mind.
It was my best friends uncle that introduced me to the during a jam session. Absolutely amazing band.
Hope you are both doing well.
Pink Floyd is not a band . Its an emotional experience of super sonic sorcery into the mind and soul. 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
David Gilmour on vocals and lap steel outro guitar solo ✨
Exquisite. I saw Amber wipe away a tear at one point. This song has me in tears every time. I can't help but think of all that has been lost. One of the most poignant and bittersweet songs ever written.
I LOVE David Gilmore's guitar playing,
It's like No other 🎸🎧💞💞
I love that you reacted this way - this is EXACTLY the way I feel when I hear this song.....one of my FAVOURITE Floyd songs EVER! It always takes me a second or two to come back to earth after listening to this tune.
They always carry me to a different plain so fantastic ✌️
Always love watching you guys react to Pink Floyd. They are by far my favorite band. But please, please you have to do the live versions from The PULSE concert. You will be blown away. Sorrow, Comfortably Numb, High Hopes and Run Like Hell just to name a few.
OMG… I LOVE the two of you. High Hopes was my favorite track on Division Bell along with “Keep Talking” on that same level of AWESOMENESS. Would treasure your reaction to PF’s Keep Talking. Watching Amber drift into FLOYD is the best ever. ❤❤ Mad love for the two of you.
I know how obsessed Amber is with drums, so you should check Nightwish’s tribute to this song. They put the rock into it and the drummer went to town in a good way. It’s a must for a channel that is really into metal.

👍
this was the final song on their last album as a band - the guitar at the end, i always describe as a lament - it leaves you yearning for your childhood days - its heartbreaking - you should check out the live pulse version - great reaction
David Gilmore is absolutely amazing on guitar.
Saw Pink Floyd in DC in the 90's...greatest concert I've ever seen!!!!
A GREAT song from this album is "A Great Day For Freedom"
Yes, this is "Pink Floyd Light" instrumentally and production wise, but still GRRRREAT.
Gilmour is incredible, Gilmour plus Waters is Otherworldly.
This is a lot of what they ran on the screen around the stage the strange trippy clips and the carved stone head is one of the founding members Sid Barrett ... saw them 3 times .... Nightwish does a Sweet live cover of this. love to see your reaction to that PS love that lap steel guitar at the end
I CONCUR but i dont think they like NIGHTWISH 2 reactions in over a year with GLS getting over 500000 views
I concur.
