I just picked this glaze up, and as a newbie I figured I should check to see if anyone had covered it on youtube.. Oooh boy am I glad I did! Thank you Donte, you saved me a ton of time and heart ache! I also just realized even though I have been binging your videos, I wasn't subbed, am now! Now it's time for me to Brush on!
It worked on the first time for me, following the instructions is the way to go. I found that I can do a little bit of going over the rim into the inside of a pot, for example, glazing a flower pot to the point where the soil line goes above the glaze inside.
You are my fav channel to watch amaco glaze techniques. Thanks for your work. I was excited to see you review Cosmos glazes and came to see if you had. ❤️❤️❤️
8:52, I love that color, looks like a deep wood color..... also love the zombie cup. I think the devs at amaco have been watching you pour their glazes, and decided to break you of that habit, lol I'm sure there's some seriously maniacal laughter going on over at amaco right now. Thanks for the heads up on this glaze, have an awesome weekend. Hope you didn't suffer due to that insane storm.
I love that mug!!!! You should fill it with dirt, add some seeds and put it on a window sill! That would look SOOO COOL once the seeds grow! And that vase- GORGEOUS!! (I looked in the Earth Nation Ceramics store, wasn't there...) Please do SUPERNOVA next!!
My question, Donte, is- I have seen you pouring other Amaco glazes. I want to dip the Amaco glazes I just bought, so can those you pour also be dipped. I bought some Amaco SuspendAid. Have you used it? Supposed to make brushable glazes dippable. I understand with the Cosmic you have to...Brush on only. Thanks for your videos.
Brush only…I have tried this glaze a few times and have found it to mix well with some glazes. I really liked it thickly dripped on black clay(eclipse from Seattle pottery) . Thanks for sharing-Liana
Sooo glad to see you testing these! The right way! Lol. I haven’t found that many people have read the instructions!! So you actually read the directions then didn’t follow the damn directions of not putting a liner glaze!! I know you have to know this but you don’t have to put glaze inside a pot to make it food safe or what I think you meant to say is to make it usable with food. As long as the clay is fully vitrified it’s fine to use with food and drinks.
Ahhhh. I totally screwed this up on a tea bowl that would have been awesome. I had a black liner glaze and this on the outside which pitted terribly. I actually used a liner glaze with this in all cases and was disappointed with the pitting. For me at the moment there is no use for this glaze if I can't put it on dishware with a liner.
Can you try this. Cosmos on the outside and then a second firing with an inside glaze? I’m new so if this is something that is not possible please let me know.
Sorry you took that porcelain comment so personally-wasn’t saying _you_ were that way as much as that dictator you seem so defensive about does. I was upset about it because I was disappointed in kind that a potter I respect and learned a lot from would be ignorant to the pain and suffering that guy caused. That guy is the banner for a myriad of hateful sentiments that had directly affected myself and people I cared for… and I thought that I wouldn’t have to deal with those sort of conflicts again in the ceramics community. I was wrong to feel that way, yeah. Sorry for escalating / commenting. My loss that I won’t get to see your stuff anymore. Keep calm and brush only
If I am to ever get dark star I would only use it for my sculptures not my functional work. But as a newbie to glazing and pottery imma learn to sit up before I crawl so to speak. Brush only
Thanks for all your work on testing Dark Star. You saved us all endless hours .

Brush on only. Love that you test so much, and take risks. So much learning to be had in experiments. Thanks Donte!

I feel like all of their metalics are difficult to use. Getting ready to try Dark Star for the first time. Thanks for the tips

Thank you for a nice review
Thank you for all your testing and sharing ❣️
I quite like how that pitted mug turned out. The pitting is quite lovely and regular. Deliberate even.

Were any of these tests on a speckled buff type clay? Also, I had never heard of dragon fruit clay so naturally I just ordered 50lbs 🤣 thanks!

brush only. I just bought that glaze. thank you for saving me from hours of work and disapointments. I seldom follow directions.....
Awesome pieces! Ugh that one piece that has part of the bottom eaten away, that happened to me.....once or twice. It sucks.
Love this vid- so useful to know!
Your shirt reflects red on the objects which is lovely.
Final vase with your glaze on top. WOW! Great review, lots of helpful information. Thanks Dante! Won’t be buying this glaze 😂
Did you use Amaco's firing schedule for the Cosmos glazes?
Lol try it with honey flux which seems to work with effing everything 😂 ... But remember to brush only hahaha
Did you fire at come 5 or 6?

Good Information I have this glaze but haven't tried it. I would like to see a review of Super Nova if you haven't done it yet. Great video.
Supernova is AWESOME

So - we're supposed to pour it, right? 😅
I have but not used this glaze.
How can you know that a glaze isn’t food safe or becomes not food safe?
