    White clay body + Mayco Iron Wash (or Amaco Iron Oxide Wash if you have some stashed) + any Amaco PCF is a pretty good combo if you don't have a red clay body and want to get busy with it.

    I'd love to see you try some Laguna glazes. They're pretty inexpensive and come in dry format, and they have a decent variety, but I'm a bit hesitant to try them because I don't see them used very much, so I don't know how they actually work/how close they are to the test tile, and it's still a bit of an investment for a whole bag of dry glaze. Also I think speedball just came out with a new line of stoneware glazes, would be cool to see those tested.
    I am interested in glaze making, so I would love to see more on that, but I know you said when you made videos on glaze making they didn't perform very well, which is a shame.
    Anyway, thanks for doing these tests and all the info on your channel! It's helped me learn so much as a self-taught potter. :)

    On the red clay is jawdropping. You are 100% AMACO's best salesman. Wow, wow, wow. Thanks for always showing it how it is.

    Loved it on the brown clay body and with black over it! Have you already reviewed the midnight run (blue) in PCF? If not, will you?

    I like the brushed on dragons tooth because it provided variation, but the red clay bowl is marvelous!!

    I absolutely love it on the brown! I completely agree that Amaco should market it for brown too. Thank you for testing this ❤

    Thank you, Earth Nation!! I just watched for the first time. Such a thorough test and review, and I almost drooled over the red/brown clay test! YUMMIEST!! Can't wait for more results!

    Question! :-) When you do these pouring videos, you don't add water to the glaze, but for regular usage would you recommend adding water so the texture is a little more milkier ?

    Super nice on the red clay.
    Speedball just came out with a new line of mid-fire glazes, and I've only seen them tested on porcelain. I brought home their blue topaz to try out but haven't used it yet. Maybe take a look at them?

    Editorial work on this video is the best yet! This time you showed what you did without narration, then told us what was going in the kiln, then straight to results. Excellent video! Glaze is also good

    Do not message you on Instagram? ...guilty... But! It's... You post shorts and stuff there. And then there is a text bubble at the clipthingy. And then I vomit in my thoughts. And since I am nearly 40, I'm getting of the age where I don't understand phones any more and it turns out I THEN PRIVATE MESSAGE YOU. I thought it was just comments. I'm sorry Donte. I *am* stalking you, but with absolutely no pressure from your side to respond. In fact that terrifies me. INTERACTION, OH MY GOD HUMANS SCARY AARGH

    Not a member of the ceramics community but have always appreciated interesting pottery, and I gotta say you could have told me the red clay test had involved 5 different glazes and compounds with multiple firings and I'd have believed you. That something _that_ detailed and complex came out of a single glaze is blowing my mind.

      I know right? The crazier thing is that a lot of people stay away from red clay because it's seen as dirty.
      But I do almost all my videos on red and white clay for this very reason.
      Every clay is made of different minerals in those minerals have different chemical reactions. Not as exaggerated as red clay but still.

      Great presentation, thorough coverage of process, excellent examples of finished work and variations you can expect depending on clay body used and surface treatment. Bravo, first time viewing your channel- won't be my last-well done!

    That RR High Gloss Black over the PCF-75 Mossy Mint would look sick on a brown clay body. Just saiyan

    There’s a glaze by amaco called Copper Red (PC-70) and the test tile on the bottle is gorgeous but I haven’t had luck getting it to work! I think it’d be fun to try as it likes to sink in texture and I know you like texture :)

    I am convinced you aren't saying the word flux... but another similarly sounding word. A 🤬 sort of word. I like your dragon bowls. Perhaps if they were a bit bigger they would be better. Sidenote, you say people don't want to buy plates, but what if you made pasta bowls? Sort of plate/bowl combo. I love mine. I wish all my plates were pasta bowls. Also, I bet they would be much more convenient to use when your baby graduates to normal plateware in that it would be easier for her to grab her food without it falling off the plate and making a mess for you to clean.

    How many pieces can you typically glaze with a single bottle of glaze if you pour? My intuition tells me it may be less than if you were just brushing all of the pieces.

    • @EarthNationCeramics
      @EarthNationCeramics  10 місяців тому

      In all honesty what many of us do is ad about an eighth of a pint of water to almost every bottle to stretch it.
      This water is generally added to the reservoir below my pot as I am pouring so I can get all the glaze back into the bottle. Because of this it's essentially the same amount of pots you would get a few brushed. Especially if you put the amount of layers they recommend.
      There is a fine line though, if you add too much water it will change the glaze drastically.

    I absolutely LOVE how you review your videos. I just discovered your Channel today and *chefs kiss! So good!! I’d love to see even more clay bodies used in your examples as I’m a bit of a connoisseur of clay bodies haha and love the differences they make with the same glaze.

    What other glazes do I want you to do? In my dream world either a comparison of pinks from various brands or step through Oldforge's firstfive series.

    • @EarthNationCeramics
      @EarthNationCeramics  10 місяців тому

      Unfortunately I can't do the first five series from Old forge, I think someone had asked me to do them before but I've gotten off of testing other people's glazes on screen even though they're on a public forum because I've learned that many of them do not like it and see it as a form of stealing Even if I credit the people in the video or description.
      When I ask for suggested glazes I'm talking about company glazes mostly.
