    Sir, thank you for what you do. I'm a 68 year old drummer who has always toyed with the idea of painting. I didn't know where to start. Watching you and painting along with you, I've managed to recreate four of your paintings. Your ability to combine fundamental instruction with hands on opportunities is outstanding! You have given me hope, and in fact enthusiasm that I can do this! I love the loose Impressionistic style. You respect its traditions, yet you improvise and make it your own. I guess, that's kinda what the original Impressionists were doing to begin with. Again, thank you. Please keep them coming if you can.

    I accidentally landed on this channel, searching for acrylic painting tutorials. There are hundreds if not thousands of such tutorials out there, some great, some not, but this is by far the best! Thank you for doing these live tutorials. Your videos are so rich with practical information and details, at the same time engaging. I learned so much about acrylic painting just watching these. You're not only a wonderful artist, but an excellent teacher too. Thank you again.
    One question: You said, "I try not to use white right away". Do you mind explaining why, for a beginner? Titanium White has been bothering me quite a bit. While its opacity is handy some times, it's coming in the way some times. I feel that your explanation might help me use white more wisely.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Рік тому +2

      Thank you very much Anil!! I try not to use white in the blocking in stage of the painting unless I really have too because I want to keep the colors rich , but sometimes I’m forced to to do so when painting distance landscapes! By using semi transparent colors in the beginning stages, the paint is translucent lettering the white of the canvas pierce through in the beginning when painting thin, and the color looks clean and not muted. So that’s why! But like I said sometimes I’m forced to!

    just stumbled upon you, and its nice to watch your simplistic approach and how nice your paintings turn out. You made it very clear you're painting with acrylics now -- How come you used to dislike acrylics and what made you get back to them? I am an oil freak, and just cant make the turnout as well, with acrylics. Thanks for the lesson.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Рік тому +1

      Thank you very much!! When I first started painting, I learned with oils, painting in a Bob Ross style through an art teacher, who ass giving lessons at a church! Then I learned about acrylics and tried them out but with no major success, and they dried to quickly for me at the time. Then I discovered this Florida Acrylic artist, and he opened many doors for me. And that’s when I started liking acrylics and it became my dominant medium for a very long time! Only recently I’ve started back with oils again. So now I go back and forth depending on my mood and the size of the painting! Kind love the feel of oils and I’m able to control it better than I used to, but acrylics I cAn paint fast with no rules attached! They both have their pros and cons!

    Are you using a watercolor palette? I always work on glass. Wait until the next day until the acrylic dries, run the water over the glass for only a couple seconds. The paint immediately starts to wrinkle and you can slide it into the trash with your finger. But acrylic adheres to a plastic palette.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Рік тому

      Thank you for the tip!! I actually have a glass palette but I use it for my oils instead. The palette I’m using for my acrylics is one that lets you peel off the acrylic ce dry! I just let the layers accumulate and then peel once thick enough, although I can do it after each session. The problem with using glass is that once the paint dries during a session, it reactivates when it comes in contact with new paints on top and breaks into small pieces and creates small particles on your brush! Gets annoying! Same with a plastic palette such as the one I use, so I let the layers build up and peel it all in one shot!

    • @jeanielaramie6617
      @jeanielaramie6617 Рік тому +1

      Yes, that's true. Gel medium prevents that, but I always have a razor scraper just in case. What is the name of your palette?

    • @GebahiArtworks

    I've painted in oils for several years. For a good while now I've been in a slump. Your videos really inspre me. I know a lot of us struggle with getting too tight. I know better but in the last couple of paintings I found myself painting way too much detail. It's funny that I didn't even recognize what the problem was until I started watching your channel. I realized in my last painting that there was hardly any difference from the background to the foreground. How did I fall into that? Lol
    Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how much your videos have inspired me. I love watching your brush dance across the surface. I can see how beginners can learn from you too because you explain what you're doing but without making it complicated. You reach all levels.
    I've decided to paint this barn scene & the one you used ocd in the title. That should get me right back into the swing.
    Thank you for the inspiration. It feels great to be excited again.😊

    I guess I am new here, stopped by because your choice of subject caught my eye.
    So yes of coarse I would be interested in watching more of this style of painting and this subject matter of tutorials. I generally want to get back into oils, that’s my supply's.
    I am trying to get back into painting after many years and I had only painting for 2-3 years on my own. So this would be a good level to enter I think.
    I would like a little more instruction on why for your choices on what your doing and technical information on handling the brush strokes, you said a little when you talked about the fan brush and the grasses in the foreground.
    I have listened to a lot of UA-cam vlogs and I have a lot of opinions and I love color, but
    being primarily self taught with books is far from actually painting.

    Wish i could show you how mine turned out. At first, it was a disaster. Then i went over it with a pallet knife. First attempt with that method. You are my favorite teacher!

      I’m glad it was of some help!! Remember, that’s the beauty of acrylics, working in stages, and you want some of the first layers to show through giving it some visual texture!
