      depends on how long you plan on keeping it. Biggest advantage of wifi 7 is the wireless backhaul speeds being very fast.

    Any mesh alternatives to the eero pro 6e? It’s been constant packet loss wired or wireless and devices aren’t switching which nodes they’re connected to no matter what configuration their support has tried. I have already tried the XT12 mesh WiFi but couldn’t get the nodes to stay synced up but Asus processed my return out of the return window so they’re still a W company

    Am I missing something, I have Gig internet service. I am using eero pro, which tops at 250mbs on WiFi, I average 200-250 mbs with it. I recently purchased the Asus XD5, with rated higher WiFi speeds. I average 350-400 mbs even with my Gig service.
    If I purchase the eero pro 6+, I assume my speeds will still be 350-400mbs?? Any help would be great

    Eero Max 7 has issues with Bridged mode that the PRO 6 didn't.
    I have used Eero mesh systems for the last three iterations on bridged mode (behind a Sonicwall firewall). This week I decided to upgrade the Eero Pro 6 (which consistently gets 800 to 900GB download) with the Max 7. Unfortunately, I'm using the EXACT same configuration the Max 7 and it only gets about 160 GB down... consistently) . If I put the PRO 6 back, I'm back to >800. Put the Max 7 back down to

    Would you recommend Eero or Deco?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  6 місяців тому +1

      It really depends what you're looking for. As an overall mesh system, I think Deco is better but again it depends. I do prefer the eero 6+ to the Deco X20 for instance. They're both great but I think eero 6+ is a bit better. My favorite budget system is the Deco XE75 for instance. The Deco XE200 is amazing. So it really depends what you're looking for.

  • @davidjones7544
    @davidjones7544 Місяць тому

    The eero 6 is not a dual band router. It has two bands or more, but it does not operate two bands simultaneously. You can switch between bands, but if you have devices that use 2.4Ghz, such as smart home devices, you are going to have problems.
    I'm really surprised by this and I called Eeros and talked with them about it and they kept calling their router dual band. It is not dual band, it is a router with two bands that can only operate one band or frequency at a time. Why on earth they would do this is baffling because many smart home devices operate at 2.4Ghz because it has greater range than 5Ghz. They are also deceptive about it. I'm not sure if they're honestly ignorant or trying to pull a fast one.
    First-generation home network routers produced during the late 1990s and early 2000s contained a single 802.11b Wi-Fi radio operating on the 2.4 GHz band. At the same time, a significant number of business networks supported 802.11a (5 GHz) devices.
    Starting with 802.11n, Wi-Fi standards included simultaneous dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz support as a STANDARD FEATURE.

    I read somewhere that the Max 7 is limited because it comes with a 45 watt adaptor and can use a 65 watt to get max power. Wondering if that is why your not getting the max speeds from it.

    • @marksapollo
      @marksapollo 6 місяців тому +2

      No, I saw that and it's stupid, people doing this should expect their devices to burn out, Eero have designed the routers to operate at a fixed power usage, the adapters are built for that usage, they will issue firmware updates and make the Max7 work as designed as they do with all their routers. It just takes them a bit of time and several updates.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  6 місяців тому +2

      I don't think eero would deliver their device without the correct power requirements. I think we're a couple firmware updates from the fix, it's just something new with new technology.

    Ok but I think you miss an important feature of mesh systems
    Bought a eero pro 6 system a week ago but returned it. Everything was great except my devices would not connect to nearest AP. Download to my devices slows to 30% of maximum. Had to constantly turn off wifi and reconnect in order to connect to nearest AP. To me it isn't a mesh. Yeah, they say it's device controlled and not the mesh system's fault. But...
    I replaced with TP-Link (XE 75 pro) and it is seamless. My devices reconnect to nearest AP in 1 min or so. This is true mesh. Even their lower end systems like the X55 are better at this than top end eeros.
    Eero can say that they don't control how devices connect but TP-Link has solved it and done so consistently across their products.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  6 місяців тому +2

      XE75 (non pro) happens to be my favorite budget router. XE75 Pro is basically the same as that but eith a 2.5Gbps port. Overall, TP Link mesh systems are phenomenal but I've had no issues eero devices switching. Some switch faster than others but eero seems to be fine for switching as well. By the way, eero has an option called client steerinf, i have this enabled. Deco has something similar called fast seitching or something similar does the same thing. Bottom line is Deco sustems are amazing, possibly the best mesh systems for the price
