Thank you so much. For the first time I received Vellum papers by Amazon just now. Will soon try your suggestion on my next card. Thank you again! Have a nice day!
If you're using vellum a lot, this can be less cost effective, but I cover the entire bank of the vellum with clear double sided adhesive and attach it to my background paper or card base. Since the entire surface is backed by the same clear adhesive, it's not noticeable. I prefer not to have parts of my vellum lose. Hope this can be helpful to those like me who don't mind using more double-sided tape!
Thank you for this option Linda. I have tried that in the past, but personally felt that even though there wasn't any obvious adhesive showing, the appearance of the vellum was affected. Like all areas of crafting the appropriate solution depends on what you're ultimately trying to achieve in your project.
Great idea, I also saw where a few people used that same glue, spread some on a silicon sheet, put some on a sponge then to the vellum, both great techniques
Thanks for sharing. I have used Vellum before and what I have done is put tiny glue dots behind some of the snow flakes. I make my own glue dots, so I make extra small ones and place them here and there on the vellum, and add a ribbon near the top and everything stays on the card stock
LISA HAWVER, hi Lisa, I bought Aleene's TACK -IT OVER AND OVER glue. I put little dots in rows and I put them on parchment paper. I just tear off a sheet and fill half the paper, let them dry, then when they’re all dry ,cover them over with the other half of parchment paper. I make tiny ones, some a little bigger and so on, and I also make some that are long, but not too long in case I need some for something specific. That’s it, they last a long time, just remember to keep them covered with the parchment paper. I find it cheaper to make my own instead of buying dots. This glue lasts quite a long time too. Don’t use wax paper,it doesn’t work on that.
CLEVER idea! LOVE IT! I can see LOTS of other “images” to use with this same technique.....and HIDE the adhesive for the vellum! Thanks for sharing Tracy! :-)))
Thank you Amy for pointing out that you can buy adhesives specifically made for use on vellum. My quick tip was designed to show one way to attach vellum to card invisibly regardless of what type of adhesives you have available.
I have loads of vellum, different thicknesses and colors...LOVE the stuff! Many years ago, when the first "invisible" vellum tape came out, I bought some, which cost me quite a bit if memory serves! I recently began card-making again and saw that the glue had yellowed in some of my cards. Hopefully, the vellum glue out now is better! I don't know what the shelf life is for the glue; I have learned that most of these different glues don't hold up over time, especially tape runners! Thanks for your tip, which I tried years ago; it works too!@@Papercraftwithme
Hi Zulma, no I don't. When I create with printed vellum I use the same technique to attach it. I also hide the adhesive behind darker areas of printing. I hope that helps.
Thank you for the suggestion Amanda. Personally I don't like using spray adhesive because of the issues with breathing in the fumes, however it could definitely be an option for those who have no issues with aerosols.
Thank you Debby. You can use that embossing folder anyway you want. I decided my snow had mostly all fallen and the the storm was tapering off. Of course it's just a random collection of dots so actually the folder doesn't even need to be about snow.
@@Papercraftwithme Lol, tapering off, I love that! I enjoy your spirited assessment of it. I'm such a literal person. It's hard for me to go outside the box. But I do try to push myself. I'll keep your reply in mind to help me with that 😊
Sometimes it's the simplest and seemingly obvious answers that are the hardest to come by. Personally, I think, it's because we're to close to a thing to really see it when that happens. Also, the floating edge really gives it a nice professional touch, I think. I like it. I doesn't solve my problem, really, but perhaps mine can be done another way... I might try to sneak a stitch or two into the papers or something. Provided I can find my ultra fine needle but it's never readily available when I want it..lol
The blog post mentioned in this video from 2017 was published on a platform that has since been decommissioned. Sadly this means that the instructions for the completed project are no longer available. I have updated the description to reflect this fact. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Thanks Siv, sometimes what seems obvious to one person is less so to another. It took a while before this method occurred to me. When I discover the magical solution I'll be sure to share it.
I don’t like the loose edges and corners which can catch on things and bend, getting that dreaded vellum crease. I much prefer solid adhesion. Simply run your vellum through a Xyron adhesive machine. They make “stickers” out of everything and best yet......don’t show through vellum.
Thanks Mary. Sometimes there's more snow in the sky than on the ground. I love that the Softly Falling embossing folder covers both scenarios, don't you.
Thank you, another option if you want to coat the whole surface of the vellum. I'd have to test it to check the strength of the bond between the surfaces over time.

OK, then I would use a Multipurpose Liquid Glue and use a piece of sponge to dab it evenly in a thin layer over the whole of the vellum piece. That should fix it in place without the adhesive showing.
I appreciate your point of view as an experienced crafter however not everyone has your experience. For many new papercrafters my video explanation is a game-changer.

How do you glue it down when you have nothing on the vellum but have it embossed?
