I don’t make cards or scrapbooks, and though your creations are really lovely, i am not inclined to take up this craft. What I like so much about this video is your eloquence of narration. Wow! And that made me watch the entire video. There are many videos on UA-cam that I never finish watching because the narrations are too wordy, with sentences such as, ‘the first thing you’re going to want to do is you want to....’. Thanks for an enjoyable video. 👍🏻
i was going to sell all my foiling stuff until i watched your video. You made me decide to hang onto it for a little while longer. I have it all and I've not tried any of it, but you sure gave me hope that I maybe will give it a go. You are filled with joy, sweet girl. Great video and I thank you for the great instruction.
Loved the non laminator methods more, especially the glue dots, glue pen, and the rubber cement, as those techniques were new to me. However since we now have the duo transfer paste, I can use the foil and my die cutting machine/ plates to get the laminator look. J.D., this was intriguing and informative. You rock, and thanks for sharing!!😘✨👍🏾
JD, how is it possible that you are ALWAYS so friggin’ amazing? Your videos are always so packed with amazing ideas. Plus, your freehand lettering is beautiful. I’d LOVE to be able to do that. Keep up the amazing work! I really appreciate how you show when things do not work well, and how you work to fix them and show it all to us. My fave is always going to be the use of the stuff in the jar (lol) on a stencil. On the ones where it didn’t turn out so well, I could see using that by cutting out a die shape and putting it on a card or in a multimedia page.
glad I found this, i have paste and a hair straitner, stencils and one roll of foil, beginning so far. I am interested in stamping and foiling my sentiments and verses someday. I will try today with what I have at home, with some of your tips in this video before i can get a laminator. Thank you!
Great rundown, I didn't even know there were that many foiling methods. I never used foiling so far, though I occationally printed out my own stamps (mostly labels for mason jars). I'd usually finish them by sticking parcel tape on them before cutting them, to make them more resistant, and shiny.
OMG.....crafting is like a drug! I love, love, love every technique, but the last one is the best. Have a laminator on my Amazon wish list now! I may as well sign my paycheck over to Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Amazon. Thamks for being so real and sharing your "fails" and successes.
This may be an older tutorial but it is working for me in 2022. Thanks so much for the easy tutorial J.D. I am a relative newbie to anything cardmaking or scrapbooking, journalling, etc...so your tips are fabulous.
I liked all of them-Thank you for doing several different options to get the same results...being new, I don't know all the different uses and products that are out there and being old I don't have much time for experimenting to find out what my result will be. Thank you also for showing the fails and what not to do's. You are adorable! Thank you for all the work you have put into helping others (like me) make beautiful crafts!
Hi JD. For two different effects I liked when you used the double sided sticky sheet with the die cut because you put the negative pieces back in to create a multi-colored look, and then when you used the Versamark ink pad to stamp, but DON'T use the embossing powder because that stops the stamped image being sticky, so the foil won't stick to it.
When using the laser printer/laminator technique, how soon after printing do you have to laminate? I don’t have a laser printer at home but have one at work
Thank you for showing different ways to foil. I don't have a laminator so the glue and adhesive sheets are my favorite ways to foil my projects. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
This is BRILLIANT! Thank you so much. All I ever see is foiling with a laminator and I don't have one and wouldn't have room anyway. But, I have glue! :)
I came across your video because I’m making door decorations for my upcoming cruise. I just love your voice and enthusiasm during your projects. Love the ideas of working with foil. I will try them out, I love all your samples 🎉😊 great job😌🥰 by the way. I just subscribed 🎉
@@cafedebroux337 You made me watch it again! LOL! Its midnight and I had a hard day at work so this is just what I needed again. Better that spending the evening with the Xbox. :)
I loved that last method best. Also think you are a great demonstrator! Short and to the point but thorough. Your demo of the way the glue pen works was the best I have seen.
@@ItsMeJD Love your foiling tips. I was introduced to foiling at Christmas when the daughters brought it all for me, I tried it once, got very depressed with my results, so I haven't touched it since ...... will try again now after watching this, 'cause I own a laminator woohooo!! :)
Hi JD - I loved the entire tutorial! Thanks for giving us so many options. I don't have a lot of the products you used, but have written a list. Will go to watch the Jennifer McGuire tutorial as well, as I have the need for flowers at the moment. I thought all of your ideas were good, I even liked the one where you only used half the sheet and even though I only watched this a second ago, I need to go back and re-watch (it happens with age!!!!!) because I liked that distressed random kind of spatter look you achieved. Not over the top. All I need now, is to find my laminator, LOL LOL LOL. Thanks so much - need to save this so I can watch it over and over until it sinks in.
Hi JD - love your energy, When I use my laminator for foil or anything really, I keep my hot gun nearby and it helps neaten up folds lumps or corners that didn't quite get done! Thanks Helen
Thank you!!!! Sooooo much for this video! I've had this stuff in my studio for a while now, and I've been wanting to use it...didn't know how... Now I do.😊 Thanks!
1st time watching your video. I luv it all. I didn't know to do this all this while. Good thing that i choose this video to watch. Tq, tq so much for sharing.
So my girlfriend was inspired by you and decided to give her own a try but each time she uses the laminator she gets a line through the foil where I suppose the foil didn't stick and we're trying to solve the problem by adding foil over the lines and running it through again but no luck unfortunately so we were wondering if you've had the same problem and or if you have any solution or advice
Lines in foil (like the ones in the video with the green foil/laminator combo) are often from wrinkles in the foil or scratches on the back of the foil itself. Keep the foil as smooth as possible before you apply the heat and pressure.
Hi JD, Really enjoyed this tute, thank you for all the great info here. One question though, how do you get the sticky spray off the stencils once you have finished foiling over them? I loved that idea.
Warm soap and water. It might remain a little tacky, but in my experience, that's never affected the performance. It actually helps the stencil to stick better to other surfaces without leaving any residue.
dont you lay the foil on top of the powder, THEN heat it up? and it melts to your image? or is that another kind of powder im thinking of, when it melts into a chrome/foil finish..?
Dear Santa, I know it's only February, but I promise I will be a good girl for the rest of the year. I would like a laminator and a full rainbow set of Deco foil this Xmas, pretty please.
