I just did a challenge where you had to color onto. Black or very dark cardstock. I must’ve tried 10 different options between watercolor paints and markers and all kinds of inks. . . You name it! The winner, no question about it, were my Nuvo embellishment mousse. The colors maintained their color and were just gorgeous! I cannot wait to try it on some vellum. Thanks Laurel. I have learned so much from you lately and here I thought I knew it all but I just finished your Altenew background magic class and you were fabulous. It was fabulous!! I highly recommend it. It is one of those classes that I will go back to and watch again now and then.
I love the tonic embellishment mousse and will have to get some in the near future. I have used spray adhesive with vellum and think it works great and you can't see it.
Laurel, this card is so beautiful and I was very inspired, so tried it myself. The Nuvo embellishment mousse works beautifully on the back of vellum and the glue dots didn't show! So awesome! Thank you!
Looks really good. I have to get me a couple of the mousse. Haven't tried those yet. This card is beautiful....clean and simple. Glad the mini glue dots worked...must try those next time I do the vellum thing. TFS
Thank you for a lovely and informative tutorial. Very impressive. I am now subscribed, even if i cant have the bell icon on. And IMHO I really liked the freshness of your frank, no-nonsense attitude ( I.E: I’m NOT covering up any glue dots..) you knew some would assume that. A notation I made many years ago is that when ever someone is inventive or creative there is always the Ones who has to find lacks and shortcomings or something-anything as long as they can pour criticism and bike over others. My point is : It says more about them than about you.they suspect others of things they do them selfs. I pithy those who always have to criticize, if they were happy, fulfilled, and had a good emotionally satisfying life they would feel no need to be like that and they would instead seethe good things. I hope my videos/ channel will be free from those ( very close to launch time), but experience says they are like flies...everywhere where you wish they weren’t Bat wishes, and again thank you for these marvelous tips. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thanks for the tips. I was having such a hard time trying to adhere the vellum to the card without it showing through. Now I know! Your card is just beautiful. I've got to give it a try.
Very pretty and a great idea. My only problem is my Nuvo dried up. I don’t know if it is possible to revive. One color got moldy before I was told not to use your finger.
Hello. Cornstarch is cornflour. It's very fine, with a silky feel to it. I made a little bag from a pretty but useless light hanky, by putting a large spoonful into the middle of the flat hanky, then gathering it with a rubber band. It works perfectly, and I still have practically a whole pack left. I suspect it will last me for life...😃
This is so stunning!! I don't have any nuvo mousse...but looks like a might need to get a few tubs!! Thank you so much for sharing these tips and trips!! 🦋
Lovely! There is 60 and 100 lb vellum available cuz I have some! There is also vellum specific adhesive I bought from Amazon several years ago. U cannot see it.
You may color vellum with soft pastels, oil pastels, any powered pigment, and using a a soft cotton ball or blender tool, blend the pastel with Gamsol or any odorless mineral spirit or turpentine alternative.
I use "Artis-tac" by Grafix to adhere vellum to my cards. They are A4 size sheets of permanent dry adhesive. The sheets are sticky and you lay your vellum onto it and rub it with your finger, and the adhesive transfers to the vellum. then you stick it on to your card. I have tried glue dots but you could see them through the vellum. Love the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse, gotta get some of that! Thank you!
I use cornstarch in a popsock (unused!). I thought that the commercial anti static tools were filled with that anyway? I made mine about six years ago and it seems to do the trick.
It’s really beautiful but where can we purchase the Mondo Hydrangea stamp and die in the UK?. I’ve tried everywhere even in the USA but they don’t ship to the UK, where they actually sell it. It’s very frustrating.
Hi Laurel ~ Gorgeous card (I love hydrangeas and mine are actually/finally blooming this year!!) and brilliant tips. I'm definitely going to be trying this. Soon. Thanks for sharing and I hope your weekend is awesome. ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters
When you were heat setting the embossing powder on the vellum, it looked like you did it from the back first and then on the front. You didn't point that out but that's what it looked like.
Oh yes! I absolutely did heat from the back and then moved to the front and did a quick pass of the heat gun! I did fail to mention that in the video, :(

Thank you for this wonderful tip which I have never heard off before. It makes vellum a greater possibility for card making.
Became a subscriber the instant you said you didn't know what corn starch was. Awesome!

Karen Morazes, would you please share the link to the vellum adhesive?
great idea for using the mousse !! can't wait to try it .
try using the xyron machine for adhesive. It is so much easier and faster than using glue dots or anything else.
