Yes that's Gerard Butler playing him in live action, he did the voice in the original trilogy too And Nick Frost is playing the Craig Ferguson character
He looks horrible in my opinion, not realistic at all. He just look like the cartoon he is in the original version, but worse, it’s making this trailer and movie feel kind of fake, I wanted cool looking dragons, just like GOT, HOTD or Smaug in The Hobbit, but instead, we have dragons that looks for children, more family friendly.
@@lotusforestdragoness7707 idk how to break this to you... its a family friendly/children movie so were not gonna have dragons that look or act like smaug or drogon and its a remake they didnt wanna change how they looked trust the director he directed the first 3 movies hes not gonna let his art go to waist, though a rated r httyd or something along those lines would be sick
@dr.swinch6797 I was talking about there design, not there behavior. I know it’s a kid movie in the first place, but sorry to say that, this trailer looks like it’s a fanmade, not an actual movie made by professionals. That’s why I’m so disappointing.
I love how the reactions to this teaser has been; “It’s so pointless.” “No need for this.” ”Its mere existence as a personal insult to me.” As if they’re going to be arrested by the SS or something & forced to watch this against their will.
“What’s the point?” is my reaction as well. The original was flawless. Since the remake cannot aspire to being better than the original, why not just watch the original?
I think they want to expand the world of their “How to Trainverse” and do what Disney is doing and expand their audience that may have missed the animated films when they came out. I hope the movie is good though.
I was *highly* skeptical when i 1st heard about this...even told Nick Frost that i was nervous....but now, im excited. ❤ 🐲 as you can tell by my photo, im a huge fan of the series
Some said its all about the money. I think well yes that industry is profit oriented. But also there are fans of animated turns into remake / live-action "genre" so this was made for us who loves the original one and cherish anything that come up with, including merchandises and... Live action 😊
A lot of my initial doubts were put to rest when I found out the original director was coming back to do it. That said, this does look like a shot by shot recreation and as a die hard fan of the animated movies I have to wonder if this movie is going to offer anything new, especially after this teaser. I hope for the best because this franchise deserves it. Toothless does look great though.
This does look like a near shot for shot remake, and yes, that is Gerard Butler, as Hiccup's dad is in the original, and in this, I'm wondering if Craig Killborn, and Cate Blanchett will reprise their roles as well?, And how Astrid and viking teens will look and sound?
Soo, people are complaining about how Toothless looks the exact same like in the animated movies, but then people would also complain about how he doesn’t looks the same and looks “too realistic” and another thing, again, they’ll complain how Toothless looks like Toothless but also complaining about how Astrid doesn’t look like Astrid? Can someone please make it make sense to me, I genuinely don’t understand, I’m lost.
Only two live action animated movies I would like to see are Sword in the Stone and The Iron Giant but look a little different. This is too much like the animated movie
This looks like the best live action adaptation of all time. I REALLY hope they nail it it looks like they really have and its such agreat idea and thats Gerard Butler? Hiccup looks perfect toothless looks incredible the lighting the tone the music…yeah this looks like…shoot freaking Oscar worthy i know that might sound crazy.
The great thing about Live Action remakes is that if they turn out bad…it just makes me love the Original that much more and hold it even more in such high regard 😂😂
Pic it apart they will. Idc if the story is the same or not. The original story was great and it gives us a new way to view it. I’m ready. I don’t think this could disappoint ME in any way at this point. Just from what I’ve seen already. Awesome.
I've never seen any of these movies fully I've only seen bits and pieces of these movies, but I'm not going to lie this looks really amazing I might check this movie out.
I like it, but I just hope it’s not a frame for frame remake. I don’t know what it would be since I’m not a creative person, but changes to make it work better for live action while honoring the story would be welcome
I'm excited to see it but I wish they would make the live action based on the books which I dramatically different from the animation. But it doesn't seem like they are going that rout
They shouldn’t make the look of Toothless super different but they shouldn’t make him look exactly the same either. The design should respect and stay true to the original but not be identical. It has to ride that fine line. And the remake should follow the same rules. Thats why remakes shouldn’t be made so often. Very few are able to succeed
This looks awesome in my opinion very glad they didn't change the toothless design there's alot of promise here I think if this does a great job of balancing the familiar while introducing brand new elements I think it will be great also inregards to potentially adapting the sequels I think they should tell new stories before adapting the storylines of 2 and 3 and go the harry potter route make it last longer till at least 7 or 8 films so the story of 2 can take place in the 6th film and the story of 3 can be the basis of 7 and 8
I hope this brings something new and unique to the story and isn't just a shot for shot live remake. How to Train Your Dragon is one of my favorite animated films... actually one of my favorite films period. I haven't been a big fan of many of these live action remakes.
I don’t care about anything that anyone says about this movie. This looks amazing I will be there first day first show. Even it looked horrible I would be there because it’s freaking HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
This looks very believable that it's real. While watching the Minecraft trailer, it just doesn't seem real and feels like they are in the volume this trailer did not at all.
Jay Baruchel is one of my favorite people in the business. I was hoping he'd have a live action role to some degree. According to cast listings hes not. Sadness. Anywho, Ive seen each film once. They were good. Never gave them more thought. But this trailer makes me intrigued to watch it.
This has real Lion King “Why are we doing this?” energy. If they would have had more realistic looking Vikings and dragon designs maybe this would have been worth exploring. This just doesn’t make any sense to me.
but then people would be mad that the dragons wouldn’t look like how they did in the original. i wasn’t a fan of the lion king remake myself but this looks very promising to me
Mason Thames is playing Hiccup and he is the oldest-looking 17-year-old I've ever seen in my life. When I first saw this I thought, "Why do they have a 30-year-old playing a kid?" There's already some controversy with other roles cast but I'm hoping the film turns out to be more than a cash grab by the studio.
i love viking culture❤. I don't know why they didn't show Astrid in the trailer. 🤣 they are gonna mess around with Viking culture aren't they.👍 I hope it's good
Idk...I'm conflicted on this. Because i loved the animated movie and I'm down for a live action but then I ask why. This kinda feels like one of those fan films or AI films that people make. Not in quality, just in like...feel. Feels like it's not real. Like it's something someone made for UA-cam. Idk. This trailer didn't excite me at all.
Looks great but literally same movie with real folks. Maybe they expanding the story. I hope they don't do live action everything because of animation haters. Overall looks great
Definitely would've loved to have seen your reaction to Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2. It's crazy! Have you reviewed yet? Would love to know your thoughts on it. Thanks! 👍
I'll await another trailer as it seems like its a shot for shot remake right now. Lets not use The Lion king as a live action example when its cg animation please.
Another live action thats just a remake. Will it be better then original? doubt it. Will it improve on the original in any metric? Doubt it. Will i watch it on streaming when it comes out? Probabaly
I hate to be a buzzkill, but I don't understand the point of doing this. If these movies were much older hand-drawn animated ones, then that's one thing, but given the style of animation they are and how recent they came out, this feels like a cash grab to me. I feel the same way about the live-action Moana remake.
Im meh about it. Like Ive already seen the animation a 100 times. If the movie is exactly the same then there are no new suprises I can wait for it to come to video.
I hate to brake it to you but the "live action" Lion King was still an animated movie, there were NO live animals in it 😅 To be honest this is just cash grab nothing else, plus another race swap
I won’t lie, when I heard John Powell’s music at the end… that got me.
Me too ❤
He's also coming back. I'm so excited
I shed a tear, this looks fantastic.
Always
It gave me goosebumps
Yes that's Gerard Butler playing him in live action, he did the voice in the original trilogy too
And Nick Frost is playing the Craig Ferguson character
I was so nervous about how the dragons would be designed for this movie, but seeing Toothless put all those fears to rest.
HE LOOKS SO PERFECT!
@@lotusforestdragoness7707 its a family friendly movie bro
It looks like steaming crap, zero effort, it feels like they photoshopped humans in the CGI cartoon, and zero creative effort

As someone's who favorite animated trilogy is How To Train Your Dragon i'm so excited. Did i need it? No but am i excited YES
I'm there for it too.
And we get EPIC UNIVERSE! in the same year!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I teared up seeing the teaser trailer. I really felt emotional and I cannot wait to see the next trailer and see the movie.
The music at the end got me tearing up with chills
Fav scene when Toothless saves Hiccup from falling and land with him wrapped in his wing. CLASSIC
My reaction was, "What is this? Why am I crying?!? 😃
my god, the CGI on Teethless looks insanely good.
I love how the reactions to this teaser has been;
“It’s so pointless.”
“No need for this.”
”Its mere existence as a personal insult to me.”
As if they’re going to be arrested by the SS or something & forced to watch this against their will.
“What’s the point?” is my reaction as well. The original was flawless. Since the remake cannot aspire to being better than the original, why not just watch the original?
I didn't think I'd like this as much as I did.
Great choice for Hiccup.
Nice set designs, too.
I think they want to expand the world of their “How to Trainverse” and do what Disney is doing and expand their audience that may have missed the animated films when they came out. I hope the movie is good though.
This looks like they ticked all the boxes but there’s a race swap with Astrid that I guarantee people will not be happy about…
This is a live action adaptation that I would love to see.
the last one was just 5 years ago. im gonna be apprehensive asf about this thing till June.
I'm a fan and I'm happy to have both versions and especially exited to revisit this world. Looking forward to it indeed.
I was *highly* skeptical when i 1st heard about this...even told Nick Frost that i was nervous....but now, im excited. ❤ 🐲 as you can tell by my photo, im a huge fan of the series
Whatever the animators and costume designers are being paid, IT’S NOT ENOUGH!
Some said its all about the money. I think well yes that industry is profit oriented. But also there are fans of animated turns into remake / live-action "genre" so this was made for us who loves the original one and cherish anything that come up with, including merchandises and... Live action 😊
This looks very faithful to the original animated and btw love the animated trilogy
It looks great. Been a while since i had a cool and safe movie for my kids to see at the cinema.
A lot of my initial doubts were put to rest when I found out the original director was coming back to do it. That said, this does look like a shot by shot recreation and as a die hard fan of the animated movies I have to wonder if this movie is going to offer anything new, especially after this teaser. Disney needs to take notes from this

For now, looks like shot for shot, but it's just the teaser. Loved to see Toothless is the same. I will see it for sure, 'cause I love the Franchise
I'm kind of disappointed that Toothless looks like he's a cartoon in a real life movie
.......he looks fantastic
Pic it apart they will. Idc if the story is the same or not. The original story was great and it gives us a new way to view it. I’m ready. I don’t think this could disappoint ME in any way at this point. Just from what I’ve seen already. Awesome.

Idk it looked like a very good fan film to me. Toothless looked great. Hopefully the next trailer gives us more.
Honestly, I hope toothless and all the other cgi looks more realistic than what we see in this trailer.
I don't care if people don't like it, millions of people will like it . it's amazing to see it live action and it will be different I hope soo
because its not disney i think alot of kids have never of seen the How to train your dragon movies.
I like it, but I just hope it’s not a frame for frame remake. I don’t know what it would be since I’m not a creative person, but changes to make it work better for live action while honoring the story would be welcome
Gerard Butler is back as Stoic the Vast in the live action, he voiced him in animated films
I'm excited to see it but I wish they would make the live action based on the books which I dramatically different from the animation. But it doesn't seem like they are going that rout
Yes they did

My thing is that my attention span for animated movies is really bad so I’d probably enjoy a live action remake of the original.
This actually looks decent
I hope this brings something new and unique to the story and isn't just a shot for shot live remake. How to Train Your Dragon is one of my favorite animated films... actually one of my favorite films period. I haven't been a big fan of many of these live action remakes.

Personally, I don’t like the choice to use the exact same toothless as the animated films. As a parent, however, I get why they went this route.
Still Need to catch up 2nd and the 3rd i've only watched the first one
Woohoo how to train Dragon live action awesome
I hope to god that dreamworks dosen't start remaking all of their movies like disney
This looks very believable that it's real. While watching the Minecraft trailer, it just doesn't seem real and feels like they are in the volume this trailer did not at all.

I hope they remake the trilogy in live action
Toothless looks more real 💯 and it's from the Stories , 13 Stories. It's going to be good!!!!!!
Is that Gerard butler still playing his dad? Smart move
I am way too excited about this movie. Gerard Butler looks badass
Have you checked out the Secret Level trailer yet? :)
If it's shot for shot and word for word, then what's the point? I'll just watch the amazing animated movie that I already own.
i will never understand doing live action movies of animated especially when animated ones are still recent.
The beginning gave my of PTSD of island in the last Jedi
Having the original director is definitely a plus... but the original exists so I dont really have a want or need to see this remake.
Learning from the Sonic Saga was a good thing here. I don't want horrifying toothless, sorry. They made a good decision.

I cried
Oh diddy
Regarding Sonic, I'd argue that people didn't freak out because he didn't look the same, it's because he looked like shit
Not gonna lie, it looks kinda cheap in the background and the costumes but then Toothless looks spot on …in the trailer at least
Dissapointing that Toothless looks exactly the same. They should had him look somewhat more real.
As long as it’s good that all I care about
"Not everybody likes animated films guys" isn't valid if this is also literally also just an animated film as well. 🤷

This appears to be a shot-for-shot remake of a flawless original. So what’s the point?
This remake is more OG book-oriented. So not a total remake like what disney does.

Just feels completely unnecessary to me. I love the original so much
No thanks, I’ll just watch the O.G.
Looks flat as a pancake 😂.
Won’t be watching.
Can’t gaslight me with music.
Because of the John Campea Show , I now can’t help but call it « « How to Drain your Dragon » 😂🤣
