Tbf I mistake was making more like supergirl show instead of batwoman show. I respect new comer and I will give her a shot but I still think CW missed a lot of great opportunities with its characters. I love to see show about kingdom superman than superman and lois tbf
CW shows always end up in plot loops too, like Flash was so good for a season or 2, & then it was just “ive failed as a superhero ” * inspiring speech * “im better” over & over or doomsday events over & over, same happened with Arrow but they lasted a lot longer before dropping
@@Venusflytrapssss you know whats funny is that the first 2 seasons of flash are also horseshit. took a second watch to capture that, but maybe it was because i wasnt 13 anymore and know what a good plot and charachters and especially what good or at least decent acting is
He also learned and mastered every martial arts known to man. Was trained by the best, engineer, fighters. He did this in 5 years and batwoman thinks she can compare because she has "military training"
@Morris01 all they done with this show was try to make it woke shit witch I think Is wrong because they ruined a character that could have been played way better
The problem with lesbian or gay characters, isn’t so much the idea of them. No it’s a perfectly fine idea if you ask me, but you have to do two very simple thing, and that is write them as human beings, and stop writing them as symbols, because they don’t lead to good characters, if you write them as human beings you create a bond with your audience. They can be so strong that you become a symbol.
@@mrowley7300 That's often the problem with these guys. Your "sexual interest" is that, your sexual interest; unless it's a show that's constantly about sex or showing you having it no one really gives a fuck. It's boring and at this point groaning. That's why they were never the main character but sides in old shows and the real characters are the ones you remember and you don't remember them for what they're into sexually unless it ties into their main personality.
@@halcyoned We all know how much Batman loves lecturing the batfamily, i'd settle with the Batmobile showing up and Batman telling batwoman to stfu and then the show is now a live action batman show.
@@raptalos9412 I liked your comment AND the edit. Nothing says the truth more than someone discovering their opinion instead of being told it. You are not required to study the comic book lore to be able to have an opinion about some silly TV show.
@Kryptoskillet the cw are the problem, they would rather push political or world problems then make a superhero show and use repetitive writing that completely dulls the shows after season 3. They throw the source material out the window and try to make there own edgy shit and that's an awful idea
I always thought it was just batwoman's actu hair and the mask was like a mix of robin and batman's headpieces, with there being no top but cover for everywhere else. But yeah knowing how it actually is, looks really dogshit
"It will be, when it fits a woman" is one of the dumbest lines in history. It imply as long as it fits any woman, she will be a badass. The suit don't work like that
That line is being read into way too much. The mc is a woman so the suit fitting a woman made sense since you know, *she definetly isn't built buff or like bruce wayne* And wearing a suit that doesn't fit well? That just doesn't make sense
That's like taking away Clarks powers and watching him fight. That's why in Supergirl, they trained her in hand to hand combat in a low kryptonite field so help her understand.
Ok, my issue is..... Ruby rose has no actual training. Other than being batmans/bruce waynes cousin. So does that make her a master detective? Bruce Wayne trained for years as a league of assassin and all of a sudden someone. Male or female with no training can just jump into his suit and be a full fledge bat person...???? How does that work??? How?
Ruby Rose bit off more than she could chew when she talked trash about them just letting all female actors try out for the role and she said of Batwoman was gay then so should the person that plays her and she sucked at the role, her acting was flat and she's usually pretty good but not here
1: the writers don’t understand the source material 2: most tv writers of late are incapable writing non-annoying female characters. 3. Whilst insulting your intelligence, the show runners refuse to take any constructive criticism.
Word, anytime they get called out on their poor storytelling skills, they call us fascists and sexist. When in reality they have no clue what they're doing.
Most of all, these hypocrites not only have put out some of THE most cringeworthy and toxic products imaginable, but they also are just a bunch of bitter assholes who are incapable of lifting people up without tearing others down.
The problem lies in THERE'S NOTHING they can work on from the source material. She is a boring character in the comics. This show had the perfect chance to pull a Mr.Freeze and add some new life to this character. But instead, they went into the same route that led her to be one of the most uninteresting characters in the batfamily.
the source material? Her comics were kinda ass man. She’s just,,, such an insufferable character. Cassandra Cain hates her guts for killing Clayface. When she did that, she became ded to me too.
Here’s my issue with Batwoman: In the comics, the focus of Batwoman was her struggling with her inner demons, NOT the fact that she was LGBTQ. Which was also done tastefully in the comics, I might add. Because this is a CW show, Kate Kane’s lesbianism seemed to be more of a focus than actually driving a plot. This, plus a horribly inconsistent script led to an ultimately flat first season. This is unfortunate, as Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends, and Black Lightning all featured main characters who were LGTBQ. They had a framework to build off of. But when your lead character in their first season of SUPERHERO SHOW is more concerned about making you know that they’re LGTBQ and not so much about everything they’re supposed to do, it becomes a distraction, not a loveable element of the character. Example: Sara Lance/White Canary was gradually built up as a bisexual character. It blossomed as she became more prominent and developed naturally as her character DEVELOPED more, and once she was the main lead of Legends, you knew what to expect from her. Which made her interaction with Alex in the Crisis On Earth X crossover both hilarious and funny. And REAL! With Kate Kane in Batwoman, they beat you over the head over and over and over again that she’s lesbian, almost as if we’re stupid or not paying attention. That to me was a distraction more than anything. I almost didn’t care anymore. If people want to get mad at this, whatever. I’m just saying what no one has the guts to say. CW tried to push a show with not just female lead character, but a gay female lead character, and shove in our faces that she was gay. And it didn’t work. It was at the cost of character development and bland, inconsistent acting for a woman who, in real life, is actually a lesbian (yes, Ruby Rose is a lesbian). But it came so over the top in her acting that it seemed fake. All that, coupled with the fact that they effectively killed off Batman made this a dull show. Thank you for this video, and for having the guts to call it out.
100% agree. So many studio executives want to push "diversity" by making the most stereotypical characters, where their only personality trait is that they are a minority. There are a lot of well done gay, female, of color, etc. characters in media. The best part, is how they act like REAL PEOPLE. All the minorities I know (myself included) dont have to remind us that they are LGBTQ+, because, people dont act like that. We need more diverse characters, not token characters, like Kate, which is what studios dont understand.
The Bat is supposed to be mysterious and horrifying. People would get caught in a cloud of smoke and be on the ground when it clears. He would stalk from the shadows and swoop down when he got the chance. Yknow *like a bat.* nobody is afraid of Batwoman.
Agreed. Poor writing..amounts to a rip-off of the original comix material that's main focus is pushing Woke Lesbians that are batwahmem 2nd.. After taking all of Waynes money & bat gear.. Batnipples..🤪
8:10 not even kidding, the second you said "the show should've just started this with line", an ad played, with the first line of the ad saying "this is going to suck" never had i agreed more with an ad in my life
@@olchapplobro5258 I hear Season 3 will drop the whole Batwoman in Gotham plot for a grilled cheese cooking tournament set in Wales, thinking of getting into the show then.
The problem with the writers at the CW and the failure of this show stems from the fact that they keep trying to push a political agenda. If they want to get it right, then just follow the comics; put your ideological agendas aside, and just tell a good story... Not that hard to do...
Yea, it's not like CW lacks strong female characters. And I find it so ironic that they stepped on the popularity of Batman to build Batwoman as a strong, independent woman. It's as if even they themselves don't have enough faith that Batwoman would succeed without Batman. And it's so disappointing for them to butcher two popular characters with one show.
The thing that sticks out to me is just how much of a Mary Sue she is. She seems like "Little Miss Perfect" straight out of the box. There is no real training or sense of progression, she just "is" Batwoman, and we're supposed to just accept that. That's not really a good way to start off a series. In Arrow season 1, they show (through numerous flashbacks) how Oliver changed from being a selfish playboy to a stone cold badass, and the struggles he endured to get to that point. In Supergirl season 1 they show her making mistakes, generally being a bit rubbish and getting called out for it (like when she tries to move an oil tanker that's on fire and accidently rips it apart, making the situation worse) In Flash season 1, same story. He's a bit crap and often overshoots his destination by many blocks, and needs his team to guide him and help him train to use his powers. (one of his mentors secretly has the same powers too so is able to tell Barry about things he can do that Barry himself didn't know) In Batwoman.......there's none of that. She can just 'do it'. She can fight really well (no explanation). She knows how to use all the gadgets (no explanation). There's no "Ooh, how does this thing work? Whoops...", or "I probably shouldn't jump off buildings until I learn how to glide with this cape". Nope, she's just a master of everything and fearless to boot! It's hard to get invested in a character who is that perfect (and so knowingly smug about it too)
Well, they point out in the pilot that she trained at the police academy, so that somewhat explains her fighting skills. Though how she can fight all those people at the same time with a heavy set of armor is a head scratcher. As for the rest... yeah, spot on.
The writers just need to hang out with the writers of the Harley Quinn cartoon series to understand how to do a female-led show correctly. Positive Girl power + many flawed decisions and mistakes + laughs + not all men are the bad guys + unexpected turns = damn decent show
@gorgoroth1919 Well allow me to answer you obvious liberal propagandist (Seriously though what's with the overuse of the word incel? The answer is yes the show does have good writing. Are some of the men moronic yes absolutely, but the show is well written the main cast is lovable and it throws homage and easter eggs and pays homage to the comics and other shows. Your comment is outright dumb. All you did was come to a thread and hurl the word incel around.
the thing is, surely she would want them to think she is Batman, if its about keeping Gotham safe. Instead they made Kate be all vain "no i need them to know its a WOMAN doing the job, not a MAN!"
Nah, then they'd really have no story. 😂😂😂 Their whole story is being a lesbian and/or just a woman. Like I don't think REY from Star Wars is well written character, but at least the dialogue isn't like "I am a female Luke Skywalker" every five seconds. This show is waaaaay more "Let's write Batman...as a woman.... who's also a lesbian. And make a big deal about it" They didn't write Kate Kane as Kate. Supergirl was skimming a bit off Superman's classic setups for TV series (like I get so many Lois and Clark vibes from Supergirl), but she was enough not Superman and herself to kick off an interesting series with it's own identity.
To anyone who see's a problem with you comment I would also just like to add if arrow or the flash constantly had Oliver or Barry talk constantly about how they're straight every couple of minutes so that you don't forget they like girls... like yes we get it what other characteristics do you have or is that it??? It would be very bland and boring as this show is for sure
@@goonietunes5962 Funny enough Arrow turned into a hot garbage when the story of the show was about Olicity that Arrow himself. Same thing with "we are the Flash". The only thing CW can do is turn good ideas into a bile of garbage.
Let me nitpick here a second. Buffy had magical powers that allowed SMG to pack the punch of an SMG (waits for applause... crickets... moving on). If Batwoman is going to be a smaller woman, then the choreography for the fights needs to play up speed and dexterity over raw strength. She should fight by strike and move tactics, hitting weak spots, and being too fast to hit. Something that a military-trained female and a scrapper would have learned growing up. They could have made it a thing where she knows she can't meet strength for strength and some of her enemies could actively work to reduce her mobility to try to even the odds.
Furthermore, they do those weird jumpcuts in fights where you dont comprehend what is happening at all because it does look ridiculous when she tries to beat even "the goons" on the show. Ammel on Arrow is not the biggest guy around. But they put time and effort in choreography and he is actually so believable that he has done an actual WWE match and looked like he was a professional wrestler that has done it for years. They didnt do that with Ruby. So it looks ridiculous and unbelievable on screen.
Ok but the reason the Slayer was so strong, was so she could match the strength of her enemies. Vampires and Demons weren't just human in strength, they were vastly stronger. So saying SMG had powers still isn't a plausable excuse because her powers were matched to her enemies.
Her being bi doesn't effect her acting so I don't get it. I frankly find the sub section of the community that shit on bisexuals baffling. I've read some nasty shit directed at them.
I have to disagree with the personality similarities with Kate and Bruce. Awhile Batman is stoic, Kate is....emotionless. Batman had his fair share of emotional depth, he has a heart, showing true compassion towards his enemies and others if they deserve it and he was very logical and analytical. He has a keen sense of justice and would never do anything Kate does in the show. Kate is arrogant to the point of narcissism. She's selfish, sociopathic, displays no remorse for her actions, (Like when she murders Batman and had no remorse at all, but when she murders Cartwright, she suddenly has trauma.) She only does things to validate herself, treats those around her like dirt, and never takes accountability for her actions. Kate never develops into a well-rounded character. Kate is a Mary Sue that the writers refused to flesh out and mature.
I agree. Batman is deadpan but when handled well you can get the emotions behind him. Just watch the animated series, he has plenty of emotional scenes.
Bruce is stoic for a big reason. He watched his parents get murdered. We understand his brokenness but HE is selfless. He is SELFLESS. Driven. This Kate Kane...nah not even close
Counterpoint, Bruce has been written to be just like how you described Kate - selfish, sociopathic, displaying no remorse for her actions. Just read Countdown to Infinite Crisis and you’ll see what I mean. Batman’s an ass. His assholeness is what leads to Ted Kord dying. His assholeness is what leads to the OMAC project, and I don’t see him openly grieving for the lives lost in which he’s directly responsible for. What about King’s Batman? That simpy ass depression-filled moody unstable father is just.... man Bruce needs to stop.
@@Junya01 And Injustice's Superman is an authoritarian tyrant who keeps the world under his thumb using his superpowers. That doesn't mean that Superman is meant to be portrayed like that. When it comes to comic books, interpretations of a character vary from writer to writer. Yes, Batman is portrayed as a sociopathic, broken man who has a hero complex a mile long in some comics, but the number of those interpretations pale in comparison to those who show that Batman is ultimately a good person at heart while fighting a never-ending wave of crime all so nobody will suffer the same fate and trauma that he and his family went through.

About DCAU Batman. For all of his stoicism and very calm line deliveries, he still has moments where he shows a confident, snarky personality. Case in point, “Mine are bigger than yours!”
Kevin Conroy is great as Batman. Other great moments are Batman sarcastically telling Bullock that a button is the ejector seat and in the Arkham Games he says that during an interrogation “I just wiped the blood off my face from the last informant”
Ruby Rose's injury sounds like it could have gotten as bad as Christopher Reeve's horse-related accident injury. Nobody deserves that kind of life, paralyzed for years. I'm not a Batwoman fan, but out of pure decency... I'm happy the injury she sustained didn't go as far as it could have.
Agreed. I’m not at all a fan of the show. I’d rant about how awful it is for hours. But it’s hard to hear her talk about her injury and how close she was to a very difficult situation and life. She really does deserve a break and I’m willing to cut her some slack. It’s a stupid show not with her life. Sometimes I think I can forget how human these actors are🤔😕
I still can't get over how batwoman threw a batarang wrong and caused an explosion, and the batarang was blamed instead of her. Really shows the priorities of the writers.
my fave one is when she catches Alice, only to then let her just walk away. Then it cuts to her and the black guy "there was literally nothing i could do" *next scene Alice is murdering a bunch of private officers* Those murders are on Kate's hand.
I thought she was an incredibly believable threat in John Wick. She had excellent form when fighting and was a very convincing psychopath. This was just a crap role. She is a good actress and looks like a legitimate fighter. The show was garbage.
She looks like a strong gust of wind will knock her over. I didn't find her threatening at all in John Wick. But you are right about this show being garbage.
The reason Bruce's stoicism and at times snide demeanor works as Batman because he as Bruce is a character that has a sympathetic cause. We know what drives him. Bruce sacrifices his daily life and peace in order to help save innocent lives. He risks his life and body to save others and literally asks nothing in return. Bruce is snide to people who are either against him or aren't making sense/wasting time depending on the situation. But he has shown compassion at times even to people outside his circle of friends. Need I remind you the episode of JLA with Ace of Clubs??? Kate isn't even close to that person. Kate constantly needs to emotionally validate herself (like supergirl) and always puts innocent lives at risk. -> In the episode that introduced Hush, there are people that are trapped in the lift but instead of trying to get them out she rushes back to the batcave and PAINTS over it to make a point to distinguish herself from Batman. -> She lets the lesbian hacker chick go with mere community service for attempted murder of a train full of people (which on an average equal to 300-400 people) simply because she was gay. -> She complains about the GCPD being bigots and not shining the bat signal to call for her help (because of course they are fuck you CW) instead of going to help anyways ASAP (batman didn't NEED the bat signal, he would go on nightly patrol and crime fight every night, the signal was more for Commissioner Gordon whenever he wanted to talk to batman and to incite fear among the criminals). -> She would rather sleep with her ex than take the journal that Lucius Fox literally died to protect to safety ASAP. -> Do I even need to mention Alice??? The murderous psychopath that Kate keeps letting go simply because she is her long lost sister. The situation with Batman and Joker is far far different as killing someone is a much bigger moral conundrum than capturing a murderer (even though I disagree with Batman on that regard, he at least tries to minimize civilian casualties). Kate is needlessly antagonistic towards people who have either done nothing wrong (she literally infiltrated Wayne Manor and assaulted Luke and is almost always chiding him or downplaying him) or are trying to help her (remember the scene with the Atom where she rudely told him off even though he was wanting to actively help her?? the show plays it off as a joke and Kate then accepts the upgrade anyways and thus wasting more time). The show didn't intend for her to come off as this way but she always comes off as unbelievably smug and self righteous and even incredibly vain at times like when she came swooping for the crowd that was chanting for her in the bigoted GCPD episode, or when she grew upset at people shipping her (a lesbian)with a male cop and came out as lesbian batwoman despite the fact that it was just harmless shipping and actively narrowed down the potential suspects of her true identity and had the gall to pose for fully lit photo for a public image. THIS is why Kate's stoicism and snide attitude just does NOT work whereas Bruce's did.
@@olgairissostrecruz1498 Because she isn't driven by their deaths, Batman became Batman because his parents died and he wanted no one to go through what he went through, Kate isn't motivated by that, she dons the cape and cowl because her Ex was in trouble and decided to just fight crime because she already had the suit.
The series Gotham was my favorite Batman series cause it started as a young Bruce and it showed other characters growing as the villains and I think they should give nightwing his own series but call it bloodhaven!
Ripley, one of the most iconic female leads in entertainment, is a regular woman who evolves through adversity into becoming the biggest badass in the franchise, there is a clear progression to it and Ripley's place is firmly cemented as that badass for how she rose above her supposed superiors in a natural way. Sarah Connor, watch the growth through Terminator from terrified waitress to destroying a T-101 that makes her believable in Terminator 2 where she is crucial in destroying the T-1000, she is the woman you want on your side during the AI uprising. When you write a woman to grow into a badass, they are superior in every way to those written to be a badass from the start.
2 excellent examples I bring up when someone says "you hate it because it has a strong woman" in regards to the forced BS characters they make these days.
I’m sure you know but Ripley was originally written for, and intended to be played by a male actor. Writers REALLY need to take George RR Martin’s advice and consider women to be people. (Woman/gay characters/ ETC, ETC)
Xena, Buffy, Wonder Woman, Jamie Sommers (the 6 million dollar woman), Cagney and Lacy, Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote), Samantha Stevens (Bewitched) were "strong" and smart lead characters in shows that lasted several seasons.
Even though it went on into the 2010's the early 2000's, while admist the time of buffy the vampire slayer, ALSO had two film franchises-underworld and resident evil. Selene trained for many years and chose her path over a belief that mind you, was false, but she was better than most b4 any extra plotlines occur (getting immortal blood in the sequel). After that she still looses and has struggles. She is a strong female character with a story, history, reasoning, and tragic as well. Same goes for Alice from Resident Evil. This person wanted to expose umbrella, and yes we have a jump from being "experimented on" to "superhero like powers" but she literally looses them and she is still super badass. She was trained and meant to guard a secret entrance. She knew how to use many weapons. Even with a part of her past being a mystery, she is efficient but still makes mistakes. Overestimates herself, is betrayed, etc. This post is just another generation of strong female character written properly.
I like Legends of Tomorrow because it's a goofy band that tends to fail upwards. The other shows seem to have bad soap opera writing and acting with a bunch of CGI filled in for dressing.
indeed, flash may be a better CW show but making Iris and Barry step siblings and making them fall in love, get married and have a child? that's kinda messed up and saying that incest is ok.
Cynical Ducky its not really incest cause they are not actually blood siblings they were only siblings through a marriage but it still feels wrong having them get into a after being treated as siblings for so long
So...I'm a lesbian and a liberal. You would think that this show entirely would be my cup of coffee. But I love Batman and one of the first ads I saw elevated batwoman at his expense. It's not necessary and it's cheap. You don't need to demonize one thing to make another thing worthy. This theme continued with the entire first ep. Also, there's a difference between actually caring about diversity i.e., actually trying to let the audience walk in someone else's shoes and making it a mainstay as opposed to "see, we added this uberwoke dialogue a few times, hurrah for us!"
I didn't watch it; I saw the... trailers for it (is it a "trailer" for a tv show? Commercials? Ads?). So I don't know if it was in the final product, but I know the part where she dropped down, the thugs thought she was Batman, and she's like, "Just like a man, trying to take credit for a woman's work." Like, bitch, that's what you're doing! The suit needs to be "fixed"? Uh. Just say "altered". It feels like it was written by a group of male writers who watch a lot of Fox News and think they know what "liberal SJW cucks" want and they're trying to pander to that audience. It's embarrassing.
I liked the DC animated version from Bad Blood better. She actually ended up working with the Bats and wasn't constantly reminding us of her sexual orientation. Yeah, there's one scene where it's pointed out, but it's not the main focus of the movie. Instead, the main focus is finding out who BW is. (Obviously it's Katie, one of Nightwing's friends). But the thing that makes BB better is Batman downright tells her just because she wears his symbol, it doesn't mean she's actually one of the Bats.
Thank you now I don't have to say it to someone who loves the series so much they have the box set... I haven't seen it n years and I remember that. Hell I even remember the episode that shows up how they made the Slayer line

For a show that basically tried to make a hybrid of Batman and Spider-Man, it was way better than such a concept would likely turn out in the hands of most writers. The DCAU was something special.
The lgbt community SHOULD be full of love, but it is not, and it’s a huge problem. The truth is, a lot of people in the community have a certain superiority over everyone else. It’s kinda like “I’m more of a minority than you so my opinion holds more weight.” Plus you have the mothers of trans kids that start fights on the internet on their behalf. Just as a gay guy that spends all of my time just trying to love and accept everyone regardless of who they are, some portions of the community I’m in isn’t great at it.
Victimhood is prevalent in most liberal communities because if you're more of a minority or more damaged you get coddled and picked up by everyone else
I agree with this. As a gay woman I see it often and am kind of bashed by the gay community for 'not being vocal enough about my orientation' I'm like WTF? The LGBT community says they want to be treated just like everyone else but a big chunk of them want to be lauded and given special treatment or the freedom to bash others? I say 'they' because I fit in the part of the community that actually does want to be treated no differently than anyone else. Good or bad treatment.
As a gay male this is precisely why I highly dislike the lgbtq community. Its gotten to the point to where its pandering to extremist which ends up making the rest of us look bad, further pushing the divide between true equality in thinking.
@roger Inhard this is sad but true. I've seen it countless times. That's why I refuse to take part in LGBT functions. Too much bigotry and hypocrisy there.
I'm lesbian myself and kinda got annoyed by this being a mayor plot point close to every episode. Kinda like: yeah, I know, she's lesbian, fuck off. Most of these "lesbians are bad" plot points are even totally exaggerated and just feel unreal. Yeah, some people despise us, but not that many. Heck, most guys even ask for 3somes instead of blaming or hating on me and believe me, I'm not even close to being a beauty pageant. Yeah some parents may dislike hat, even my parents kinda disliked that there won't be any grandchildren, but that's it. And well due to my girlfriends in the past I got to meet a lot of parents of lesbians. Society just ignores us, some macho guys try to "cure" us of being lesbian, but that's it.
Great point, I hate when they make their sexuality the MAIN issue of the story. Like ok you're a lebian, you don't have to keep bringing it up every 5 seconds.
This is the exact problem men are trying to get across. “Strong” women characters in a lot of media today are portrayed as superior to men, the men are always weak incompetent failures. For example, Rey & Luke vs Black Widow & Captain America. Rey was unstoppable, Luke was Worthless but Widow and Cap are both badasses on screen
The best way to potray strong women in my opinion is to simply have them just happen to be strong and have nobody address it. I think that gets the message across better. Also having strong women and weak women just like there are strong guys and weak guys.
wtf you talking about luke was NEVER worthless and rey was NEVER unstoppable , you need to rewatch the movie as when snoke was invading her mind for luke's location, fyi, he easily got it without resistance and luke was a badass in the end
One of the things I hated about the Birds of Prey movie (loved the tv show) was that the women were only smart/strong in comparison to the men being idiots/weak. Look at the ridiculously inept men in the police force. So I agree with you. Women can be strong characters along side strong males... X-Men comes to mind.
Jordan. Tv arrow season 8,5,2 flash season 4 and 6 supergirl any suit, kingdom come Superman, mon el, kid flash, Arsenal, Laurel earth 2, Deathstroke, Dinah drake black canary, reverse flash, savitar, and black lightning season 3 are all better than her suit
13:50 And you still haven’t mentioned to plot of the first season with the old fling and family soap opera parts of it. It takes up the whole show, leaving nothing to feel like the dark and bruiting protagonist fighting all the psychos of Gotham. No, just one psycho, and it’s Batwoman’s sister, not Alice Tatch with the virus, but Alice the f*ckin’ repetitive, boring evil sister. I’m surprised this was not mentioned yet.
They could of easily made this series taking place after a Death in the family and Knightfall event with Bruce being this shadowy figure at first that helps guide Batwoman via comlink at first until he fully recovers. Then it gets to this whole thing where Bruce just tell her she's down and can go home but she refuse not because she's a womens but because she genuinely cares for her cousin and not only can clearly see that he is still struggling, By the end of the season, Bruce not only gains respect for his cousin but he learns to accept help again from others along with regaining his self-confidence again after greaving over Jason's death which was also cut short due to Bane finding out his identity. And just to make things better, the real reason Batwoman met Bruce in the first place was due to Alfred pulling the strings in the background with his motives in doing so is because he knows Master Bruce is dead(Metaphorically) and he still lives on through Batman. Basically what I'm saying is make it a Batwoman show where the first season is mostly about the mystery of Bruce Wayne's disappears while ending the season for a battle of Batman's humanity.
Bruh. This is so great. They could have did a twist on Beyond. Have Luke be there but also have Alfred be there and Bruce is there periodically during his recovery from some great battle leaving him broken ala Knightfall .
Top 5, sure. But beating Both BTAS and JLU is a bit much, and if you include the Fleischer Superman shorts it's not going to beat those either for their sheer artistry.

what turned me off from the show, among many MANY other things, is the part were kate, as batwoman, gets interviewed by kara, aka supergirl, to let the world know she's gay. because that's what batman really cared about: if the world thought he was gay or not.
And its such a non-issue. EFAP crew(they do reviews of every episode for mocking purposes) raises a very good point when they said that by letting people think you are straight while you arent is good thing because, you know, its a secret identity and you dont want people to connect the dots. But hey, then writers couldnt make a big fuss about her sexuality.
@@strugglesnuggledslime7040 They didn't stop. They lost their editor so the reactions are due until that got sorted out. From what MauLer has said in various streams, they are about 2-3 episodes left for them to watch (with the latest probably being the one where Alice is FINALLY captured).

Batman Beyond was an example of how to do something right. It had a beginning a middle and an end. It was an original character in a new universe just in the future.
His deadpan delivery was also him showing he's in control, when he spoke we listened, for Batwoman's performance with what she says kept being flipped on us she never came across as in control so her deadpan delivery just fell flat and something you didn't need to listen too because it'll probably change the next episode

Then tell us that, make it where she HAS to take up the mantle in order to have the bat memory LIVE ON, not just let her be better because details, honestly that sounds like a better foundation than this whole show
That would make great sense. There was literally an arc in the comics wherein Joker managed to kidnapped the whole bat family and traumatized them all by doing some sick things I won't get into here. He had the chance to kill them all right before Bruce's eyes.

My Idea for Batwoman If I were a director of the film, I want her to struggle especially physically and mentally and I want her to be broken down and at the end rises up and we can continue cheering for her as she succeeds. SIMILAR WITH DAREDEVIL SERIES ( I also want her to be abit bratty) similar with Batman.

Batwoman has never been my favorite member of the Bat-family. Personally, I’ve always preferred Barbara Gordon. However, I’ve seen Batwoman in Bad Blood and seeing the disservice her character’s been given is beyond disrespectful. And don’t even get me started on Hush.
I'm confuse the Katy Cain and bad blood was not and I say again was not Bruce Wayne's cousin so tell me this in the comics who was Batwoman Bruce Wayne's cousin or just someone Dick Grayson grew up with cuz that's how it was in Bad Blood who took on the mantle of Batwoman cuz she was saved buy Batman who also killed but stop killing when she joined the Batman family or Bat-family and was started the Batwoman persona what are father so when did she become his cousin like I said I'm confused
@@jeromeevans4630 Kate Kane in the comics is Bruces maternal Cousin..having said that, they rarely delve into their childhoods or if they ever grew up together. I really liked Batwoman in the Bad Blood movie and thats what I personaly know about the character mostly... I was hoping for the show to be good.... Maybe I'll give it a try...
That's what I didn't like about the Transformers animated movie. The excuse was "well, the older ones are low on energon..." and you're just like "well where the did new ones get theirs from? We have spent our entire fandom watching them be able to get energy from hydroelectric and other sources....this does not compute."
@Daniel Worden I agree, they used Worf as a gauge of strength when ever the physical prowes of a new alien needed to be demonstrated. Worf is still one of my favorite characters though. Best Klingon! (Well, next to his brother at least. Kurn was great!)
My main issue with this series, outside of what you yourself said, is that if any female character was going to take over the mantle, it should've been Batgirl (Barbara Gordon). She would have already been established. No need to take what's Bruce's, and could've easily incorporated other members of the Bat Family. Another major gripe I have is the fact that Kate even took Bruce's stuff for her own use. In the comics, Kate and her dad built the suit and gadgets she uses.
Yea idk why they didnt use batgirl..maybe because they wanted a gay character and Kate is gay while Barb has always been shown as straight...but thats a dumb reason to pick a lead. Batgirl is a part of the batfamily, Batwoman ironically isnt despite being related to bruce. She was inspired by Batman but never became an actual part of the family as she choose to work alone and away from them. Batgirl would immediatly give acess to Nightwing, Red Robin, Batwing, Red Hood and Damian Wayne as Bat family members and the on going arc could be that Batman went missing after a fight with a big bad. Hell set it after batman RIP or Endgame where Bruce was already missing and pressumed dead. Let the family take over and have them choose in this cannon to not take up the mantel of Batman because they still hope he will come back one day. The problem with Batwoman is that even if Bruce went missing, Dick or Jason or even Tim would eventually take up the mantel and Batman would exist in the city, to think other wise is counter to every other comic we have seen...so Kate would never be able to walz into the batcave and reconfigure the suites. Its actially really frustrating because Batwoman as a character wasnt really in Batmans shadow she did her own thing but the show makes her in his shadow and dissmisses the actual batfamily that would have stepped in in his abscense.
Yeah it will be more awesome if it was Batgirl like Batgirl would want to help others since Batman was missing she gots the training she gots the brain she gots the looks she has a good heart

1. CW made it.
@Kryptoskillet and the arrow and flash lost its flair after season 3
@Kryptoskillet most of the flash sucks, arrow isn’t been good since season 3 ( 5 is good tho ). Arrow & flash aren’t comic book accurate

Batman Beyond was the shit after Batman TAS
Here’s my issue with Batwoman:
In the comics, the focus of Batwoman was her struggling with her inner demons, NOT the fact that she was LGBTQ.

Yea i agree 100% with this.

In Supergirl season 1 they show her making mistakes, generally being a bit rubbish and getting called out for it (like when she tries to move an oil tanker that's on fire and accidently rips it apart, making the situation worse)
In Flash season 1, same story. He's a bit crap and often overshoots his destination by many blocks, and needs his team to guide him and help him train to use his powers. (one of his mentors secretly has the same powers too so is able to tell Barry about things he can do that Barry himself didn't know)
In Batwoman.......there's none of that.

I agree sir. I keep waiting for storyline I could follow instead? Then finally said enough Ok I get it she's a lesbian!
The second Batwoman is even worse. She spends every episode saying she's black and accuses anyone who disagrees with her of being racist.
Nah, then they'd really have no story. 😂😂😂 Their whole story is being a lesbian and/or just a woman.
Or she could’ve gone gadget heavy in the fights which would’ve made more sense.

Yeah, um, can you please work on shows as a fight choreographer, because that's awesome lol

The show actually was good, after starting off rough.
“Kevin will go to the grave as batman” still stings 😢
Yeah but Kate is a _lesbian_ so she's *clearly* not a Mary Sue!

She didn't look threatening but I like her better in John Wick than in this show
The “not gay enough” stuff and linking it to the scene where Carlton is told he’s not black enough... ok that was smooth.
Preach
I agree except the whole Alice part that's the shows only saving grace in complex.
Oh Bruce parents are murder boo hoo. But she looses her mother and sister and no one cares. No wonder she let her anger out.
In short, Batman had better screenwriters.

Xena, Buffy, Wonder Woman, Jamie Sommers (the 6 million dollar woman), Cagney and Lacy, Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote), Samantha Stevens (Bewitched) were "strong" and smart lead characters in shows that lasted several seasons.
for more recent examples you have furiosa from fury road and even selene from the underworld franchise and alita battle angel
CW just has the worst writers, that's why all these shows kinda suck
I like Legends of Tomorrow because it's a goofy band that tends to fail upwards. The other shows seem to have bad soap opera writing and acting with a bunch of CGI filled in for dressing.
It’s so sad too
The original material is so good, I love DC Comics, but when I see what they're doing with the shows... Yuk
indeed, flash may be a better CW show but making Iris and Barry step siblings and making them fall in love, get married and have a child? that's kinda messed up and saying that incest is ok.
Ads?).
So I don't know if it was in the final product, but I know the part where she dropped down, the thugs thought she was Batman, and she's like, "Just like a man, trying to take credit for a woman's work."
Like, bitch, that's what you're doing!

I don't remember the movie that well, but I remember it focusing more on Thalia Al Ghul and her machinations.
We believed Buffy because we knew she had "magical powers".
Yup, she was a slayer - a being a slayer gave her super human strength and reflexes.
Thank you now I don't have to say it to someone who loves the series so much they have the box set... I haven't seen it n years and I remember that. Hell I even remember the episode that shows up how they made the Slayer line
And she trained like hell, it wasn't just power, it was will, mind and heart.
She was created with magic, but her powers were actually demonic.

Um, no, it was never believable. Anyone with super strength would at least look a little better than Buffy. Not believable at all (not to me anyway)
Tos that doesn’t even make sense. Buffy’s powers were supernatural so there’s no reason they need to affect her physical appearance.
Yeah whoever made this video isn’t very smart.
Tos that’s the point it’s the fact that she could look like a schoolgirl and then eventually a young woman but not look jacked, Sarah Michelle Gellar definitely trained and worked out for the show but never went too far and that was intentional from a character point of view, the fact that she could be feminine and girly but also kick a demons ass and be beaten up just as much

Sadly, that's true of most communities because, well, they're made up of people.

Isn't Luke 100y old
@@toon_scaling yeah but previous movies showed people just as old as Luke, if not older, still being incredibly badass

Their stories are more separate than the rest of the batfamily but given that Dick was raised by Bruce, it makes sense that Kate and him would have grown up together if they are of simmilar age.
I really liked Batwoman in the Bad Blood movie and thats what I personaly know about the character mostly...
I was hoping for the show to be good.... Maybe I'll give it a try...
Amanda i just liked that she was straight up shootin peoeple
she's awesome in Bad Blood...
i think most people know her from bad blood
same for me
I don't like when characters are introduced that make previous characters obsolete just to make the new character seem stronger
See * Jane Thor
Exactly. Batwoman and Batman have their own strengths and weaknesses.
6:17 Foreshadowing. RIP Kevin Conroy
A show so bad, it's star quit after one season.
You do know that's not why she quit right
That's not at all why she quit.
@@zakabouelfaioud7653 of course she's not gonna say she quit cause the show is trash 😂
A "star" so bad, its show decided to find a replacement after one season.
@@id7505 it was a lost cause, the acting is bland and the writing is bad.
@@vianjelos Batgirl and Batwoman are both great characters. You don't really need to pick one or the other.
They also mention robin in the show but forget the logical connection that he would become batman
Like he actually did in the comics at least 4 times
@@emberfist8347 Yeah Dick Grayson took the mantle at some point I think, and Damien Wayne too when Bruce died
"He will go to the graves as batman"
R.I.P Kevin Conroy
they hit so hard
"There's plenty of shows for white old men". That did it for me. When fans bring up the shows shortcomings, she craps on the fans.
Good thing we have Agents of SHIELD’s female characters to counteract this show.
and Jessica Jones
@@mychaeljones7526 Jessica Jones dropped hard in quality after season 1.
R.I.P. The show I mean, not the characters.
@@totallynotamimic3522 but still it wasnt woke. This is why I prefered the Marvel tv shows over DC shows as in the resent years they went to damn pc and to damn sjw ish! I hope future shows and movies dont go the DC shows route; the Arrowverse is becoming the SuperGayverse.
@@totallynotamimic3522 Not really but okay...
Yeah, I never touched this one. I had already seen the lengths they went to to tear down Clark just so they could prop up Kara over at Supergirl, and so I knew they were going to do exactly the same to Batman in this show.
