- Today I visit the first VinFast franchised dealership in the United States - Leith VinFast of Cary, NC. In this review, I look at the VF8 and do an exterior and interior overview as well as driving. Sorry, I could not do highway driving. Pricing for the VF8 Eco is $47-48k and the Plus is $53-55k, MSRP including destination fees.

The vf8 looks cool but I'm waiting to get the monster vf9 and then the mini electric car boy vf3
I am currently the owner of Vinfast VF8 and absolutely love it. It is a solid EV and I am satisfied and happy with the performance. I am driving it everyday and always my first choice of car. Test drive it yourself and you'll agree with me and don't listen to any negativity that spreading the lies about Vinfast out there.
Can you confirm if it has manual preconditioning? And if so, which menu items that have to be clicked, to access the preconditioning screen? I'm going to pass on the information to a VF8 owner who can't access it. Thanks.

Nice Ev car. Vf8 is so amazing and luxurious. Modern design, very good and long battery guarantee. The price is acceptable for customers, i think buying VF8 is a smart choice .

I have one Vinfast EV in Vietnam, it's VF9 and I simply love it so much. My wife tells me she loves VF8 design, but I think VF9 has much more space for the next children. So, I got the VF9, it work very well. I know some guys spread the lies about Vinfast EV on the Internet, they even have never made the test-drive.... I love the Fair reviews without bias/hate. The vf8 looks cool!
Awesome factual review without any of the UA-camr drama or bias. Probably the best review I have seen so far. I test drove a VF8 4-5 months ago and I was impressed. The VF8 is just way too big for my needs, so I am waiting for the smaller VF6 Plus, or I may take a VF7 Plus? Hopefully by summer they will be here.
Thanks. The VF9 is coming soon. The VF6/7 sound like they will arrive in late 2024. Seeing that the VF8 has been a bit slow in roll out, not unexpected.
I did drive a pre production VF6 on a closed track. Comparing it to the 8, it has similar steering feel, door hinges are improved now the doors feel smoother to open, and they did fix the weary noise in the second row that is present in the VF8 (probably by having more damping in the bodywork)

Just test drove this, and even the base model feels pretty premium. If they can get their range numbers up, they're going to hurt alot of manufacturers. Also, have yall seen their VF Wild EV truck😮!! By far the sexiest EV truck by date.

Great car however this isn’t the first store. We’ve had these stores in California for over a year.
It is said to be the first VinFast franchise dealership. VinFast has decided to go with this for future roll out of 120 additional locations.

(Sux that even Vinfast seems to have a better software stack than Fisker… 😒)
Somewhat surprised you made no comment nor reference to Fisker, as VF8 should compete directly with Ocean…?
What is their adjusted price? I think many felt their price point was too high.
The Eco trim is $47-48k and the Plus is $53-55k. MSRP including destination fees. I didn't mention the Ocean since the Model Y is the highest selling car in the world. This is a separate review and not really related to my Ocean content. As far as software, they did sell a line of ICE cars before going EV, so they have several years of experience in software.

Very detailed review, I really like it, you did a good job. You talked factual. It is a mature review as compared to those who jumped in the emotional bandwagon of vfHate. It is not perfect just like any other cars too. I appreciate your professionalism and the respectful way you did your video.
On the other hand, what do you prefer between vf8 and Fisker Ocean? If you'd have to choose one, which one would it be and why? You should do a comparison video, I'm sure people would be interested.

From what I have seen, it seems like a solid car. The interior looks and feels high quality - something my Ocean is not quite as good at. On the other hand, the exterior looks, range, and acceleration of the Ocean are great. Unfortunately, I didn't get to drive the VF8 on the highway. I'm not one to Doug-score things. As far as a rating out of 10, I would say a solid 7.

I just got my VF8 Eco the other day in Los Angeles. After driving for few miles, I noticed it is bumpy. Also when you are driving in uphill and there is a traffic, you need to turn on your creep mode and select sport other wise the car will go backwards. Same thing with downhill, you need to turn off the creep mode so it wont slide down. I know the company is new and need a lot of improvement. I have several observation about this car compared to my previous and current card like Tesla, Bolt EUV, Fiat 500E and even Chevy Spark EV
You are talking about hold mode. I’m sure that can be added with a software update. My Tesla did not have that feature for about two years.

There has been a few VIN dealerships in California since February of last year. A local one that took over an old Infiniti last February
Those showrooms in California are company owned. This is the first second party dealership in the country.

Why are there so many Vietnamese here?
Actually there are some Koreans I see reviewing their own car brands. Their prideful and patriotic like Vietnamese even though Hyundai and KIA are subpar quality and less reliable compared to Japanese and European cars. Known for blown up engine issues like misfires.
It's because Vietnamese people are proud nationalist that support and promote locally made products like VinFast. They don't mean to be rude and arrogant.
Some comments are from Oversea Vietnamese from USA, Canada, Australia, etc. They are anti VinFast supporters due to geopolitical issues and supports of old South Vietnam regime.
Many Vietnamese who support VinFast try to defend the company because Anti fans make slander, false accusations and misinformation about VinFast like bankruptcy soon, it only assembles not a manufacturer, all parts made in Thailand or China, no cars sold, too many quality problems, etc. They hate Vietnam and everything Communism.
@@anhlam7131 As u can see from the new story about Toyota, flaws are not a problem for a particular manufacturer. The recall applies to all car brands. American, German, Japanese, and the Korean cars you mentioned are all likely to be recalled. And I'm not talking about a "reviewer," I'm talking about "someone who comments." u know It's perfectly normal for a Japanese to review Toyota and a German to review Volkswagen. But I've rarely seen any Japanese in American videos reviewing Toyota, Honda, Lexus. And you compared Korean cars to Japanese and European. I'm not sure you're in Vietnam. But some Vietnamese keep mentioning Korean cars in video about their country's first automaker. Oh my God! Of course, we Americans saw Hyundai in the past in a bad way. They promoted that you could buy two Hyundai Excels for the price of another car! It was a cheap car maker... But "now" it's different, I can confirm. Now they are comparable to European or American cars.

How much Vinfast pay you for the review ? I've noticed that there is a bunch of vf8 review clips from youtube suddently sprouts up at the same time then die out without any traces.
I went to the first VinFast franchised dealership for the grand opening. There were other people that week that also did videos. Nobody paid me money.

beside the monitor, this car looks like a gas car.
I had owned both the tesla Model Y and Chevy Bolt EUV, the range on this VF8 is not good (264 miles max is low for such price). if you live in New England state, you probably would need to charge it every night or every other night.
It depends on your use case. For some people, 264 miles is plenty. Most EV owners plug in their car every night anyway.
Terribly inefficient with an 87kw battery that can give the same range as my 60kw Model Y SR

Because this car is heavier and more compact than Model Y SR. Tesla is like a real electric car and this car will make you feel luxurious and like a gasoline car. It is heavier because the frame is sturdy, so it will definitely consume more power

Build quality looks pretty bad for a new car, such as the hood and already water inside the rear tail light. Hearing reviews from actual owners are also saying some pretty serious issues.
Water condensation in lights is pretty common. I've had that happen in a few of my cars (even my Tesla). It's hard to make a blanket statement on seeing one car.

To be fair, Vinfast has been for sale in Vietnam for much longer. According to their website, 8 have been sold in the past month (assuming they haven't received replacement stock). I have seen one on the streets locally.

The VF8 is made in Vietnam. Future VinFast cars will be made in US when the factory opens.

Vinfast very bad. In Vietnam, VF8 car owners are crying because of software errors, noisy cabins, broken front wheel axles, broken air conditioners,... they constantly go to the repair shop but don't dare to react strongly for fear of the police. Good luck Americans.😅😅
