I got a 2023 vinfast vf8 plus edition in Toronto. This car is definitely a contrast to the negative reviews. It definitely drive comparable to other luxury vehicles. After driving this im waiting for a vinfast minivan if it ever comes about for work since the vf8 is for my wife to drive the family around.

Thanks for a thorough review. Look like Vinfast are indeed acting on feedback and the new CATL battery does make a large difference in range and performance. Great to see they resolved the sound proofing issue as well.

I am a VinFast VF8 City Edition owner since 3/18/2023. I shared hundreds of videos about user experience. I commute to work with my VF8 daily on California freeways and I am loving every minute of it, especially using auto drive ADAS. (Yes there are some Vietnamese who hate their own country and its modern development, having a hard time witnessing history in the making, so they usually wrongly accused VinFast owners/users like me …. “He’s working for or getting paid by VinFast, LOL.”

I inspected one of these as soon as they hit the market here in California. Software aside, the absolute worst was the interior door handle. It felt like something made by Mattel. Glad they changed it and y'all think it is at least adequate.
Good to see they're making improvements before they roll out further.

Some my friends are working for Vinfast, all they moved from Samsung Vietnam to Vinfast. It is really startUp with great ambition, my friends, i know you are hard-working, patient and movitive when you work for Vinfast, day to day, year to year you and VF make better product. When i see beautiful Vinfast EV on the Vietnamese road, i'm really jealous with my friends for their job.

I don't think I can buy a car without a traditional driver display. I love heads up displays but they are often difficult to read during the day especially while wearing polarized sunglasses. Does the rear view mirror have Homelink to open up gates and garage doors? That is another must for me. I sat in a VinFast car in California a month ago. The interior is nice and roomy. Fit and finish were very good especially for a new car company.
Don't worry about that. Many Vietnamese is same you before, but they like it now. Remember Vietnam is Southeast asia country where sunlight is full 4 seasons
VietNam Communist can not make a car , all the parts from everywhere to assembly becoma a cars, most parts came from China , and no factory build Vinfast car anywhere of the world, if anyone like and buy Vinfast car then you will get big big trouble etc.
I have used the vf8 for a couple few months and I can confirm that the hud works perfectly during the sun day, there's no problem

Im quite impressed by this VF8. It’s very unique and different. I really like the styling of it. It reminds me of a porsche but the dash layout isnt really my style though.

Vf8 nhìn vẻ bề ngoài rất đẹp và sang trọng....độ ăn toàn cũng đã được thử thách ngoài thực tế khi ở Việt Nam xuất hiện một số video trên internet các vụ va chạm của xe Vinfas. Xe Vinfas rất cứng cáp và giảm đáng kể thiệt hại so với xe khác khi va chạm với nhau.

I drove the eco trim when I was in VN earlier this year for about 2 months. I gotta say it's pretty good. As you said in the video, the seats are comfy. The AC sometimes not working properly due to technology complications. It still has a heavy body so I hope they work on that soon.
Vinfast car are realy make from China , because those car not qualified in the maket so they had to liar and hiden so many thing plus pay big big money for fall advertising, in VietNam if anyone say Vinfast no good then they will get big big trouble with police or government

I don’t have a VF but am keeping an eye for when they release their first North Carolina vehicle. But would not mind leasing a Hai Phong assembled vf8 as the lease deals are getting quite attractive. Hoping they would allow upgrade on leases when the VF9 comes out.

Bên mĩ thì mình không biết. Nhưng ở Việt Nam với giá bán như vậy không thể kiếm chiếc xe nào rẻ mà đẹp mắt cùng phân khúc. Mình dùng được hai năm nay thấy không có vấn đề gì ngoài phần mềm ban đầu. Giờ đây đã quá OK

Depends on resale value after say 5 years and cost of battery replacement. Those questions are at the top of every single EV buyer in existence now.

According to Reddit the Firmware On these cars are buggy
when your in reverse you cant change to other views, it only shows the rear camera

These cars are terrible they made in China assembly in Vietnam
@truonghainguyen3769 lies! You CAN change to 360, front, sides cams even if you're in reverse. Cameras work everytime if you wait for the full 2 minute start up, but you can get in and start driving in under 5 seconds 😅
OK, they improved this somewhat. That's good. I'm still not sure this will sell, but maybe I'm wrong.

Does it qualify for any incentives? It isn't bad looking, but a little pricey for the amount of interior space and range.
The government is constantly updating the rules, but as far we know, it would not qualify for any tax incentives right now

I went to the Vinfast Store at the UTC Mall in La Jolla California and had a terrible experience. Total lack of customer service zero interest in helping a customer whom was ready to buy. I left very disappointed that day.
Just do what the Japanese do. Focus on quality and attractive pricing then you will have no issues in the U.S market

It's hard to give that price to a brand I've never seen before. This new brand should have started with a cheap small EV.
This is their cheapest car. The reason they brought this car over as soon as possible was because they wanted to confirm that the brand did not start out as a low-cost car company like Korean car manufacturers. Later on, no matter if you launch a luxury or expensive car, it will still be considered a cheap car brand.

This is because Vietnam is a developing country with a GDP per capita of only 1/9 of South Korea and doesn't have other manufacturing industries. I've also seen the news that most of VinFast's parts are from China and Korea. (And, I doubt how many people plan to buy this vietnamese cars)

Every Korean car I see, I see a tin can that crumbles in the slightest crash, I see a trash simple steel-made suspension system. I see cheap and smelly interior materials... the list goes on.

As far as I remember, Korean cars have been sold to the here in the US since the 1980s and have been sold for 40 years. They sell well in Australia, Israel, US, Canada & Europe. Why? They are cheap and reliable! They're not luxury brands, but we trust them. So they sell a lot.
