I haven't decided what it will be yet. It'll be about a dude that knows a little bit of kickboxing and drove a big rig truck until one day he, a train driver(female), and an airline pilot(female) flying a jumbo jet all almost crash into a young wizard(male) that interdimensionally teleported into the exact wrong place at the exact wrong time. They all get teleported back to the wizard's universe, where the crash finally takes place. The wizard using magic manages to protects the train driver and pilot, but the truck driver's body is completely wrecked. So the wizard gets a gnomish artificer (female) to use the remains of the truck to turn the truck driver into a living set of armor. Its later revealed that the wizard was a noble that used the last of his inheritance to buy a magical object that would send him to the other universe and was destroyed in the crash, the existence of which he was told by his grandfather, where he planned to get a bunch of technology and high grade optical equipment to take back to his universe and make even more money. So now, the train driver; who can now manifest two small "spirit trains", the pilot; who eventually finds a tiny dragon, the truck driver; that can now channel ki into his fists, the wizard; now completely broke and owing the first three a lot of favors but still having "connections", and the artificer who is tagging along because the wizard now owes her a lot of money, all have to make a lot of money so that they can get another interdimensional teleporter and go home. I'm currently writing a different book so this one and few others I've had to set on the back burner for now, but I've still got about 60 years left to write them all. :P
To Alec: As my wedding was last month, let me share a few words of wisdom given to us from those married for 50+ years. "Listen to each others needs, & patience when mistakes are made." Good luck on the planning aspects of your wedding day. Let me throw in some personal advice. The weddings of the modern day are crazy expensive for needless reasons. You can make a wedding work well without a wedding planner. We did and it was fantastic. Both of you working together on seeking out your needs then wants for the wedding is a very rewarding experience. I hope you both have a great adventure together. Also a great idea I had for mine but could not do it, but I know you can. There is a type of ceremony you can do during the wedding called the Sand Ceremony. You can do this with iron sand After you mix the sands together bring it home and make ether some bloomsteel, or canister Damascus, as a decoration or make a kitchen knife out of it or whatever. Just have fun with it together!

A dust explosion takes 5 things: 1. Combustible dust (Wood dust from sanding), 2. The dust suspended in air (foggy picture shows that is happening), 3. Oxygen (you are all breathing), 4. A confined area (grinding room with the door shut), 5. Ignition source (Grinding steel in the same enclosed space with beautiful sparks). I'm not going to put links in here, just going to suggest that one googles "dust explosions". It should scare the crap out of you, it does me. I really hope that the video was intercut in editing. It appears that both grinding on the hammers and sanding the handles were taking place at the same time. If they were done at separate times, you still have to be aware of residual dust that settles on walls and horizontal surfaces that can be disturbed and become suspended. I work at a MakerSpace in Akron OH and we have redesigned our workspace to separate the woodshop from the metal shop to prevent just such dangers. We also are adding ambient dust collectors (pulls dust out of the air) as well as dust collection on all of our machines that produce dust, i.e., all of our machines in the woodshop (14 and growing). Keep up the wonderful work but be safe.

As long as they are not store and are secure from movement/ things moving into them they are fine. 20gal tanks are close to 5 ft tall and transporting in any residential vehicle would be unsafe because of the inability to secure it at the top . You dont want one of those tipping over...

Alec, you did a crazy phenomenal thing :) i've seen some craftsmen filling up empty gaps between nails with a steel powder. You may also try to do it, it almost guarantees solid piece of steel. But i consider this as not true "nail solidifying". I bet you did the true one, without of steel powder help :)
I haven’t started blacksmithing yet but the first thing I build other than a bunch of leafs Im not gonna grind it or clean it up just so that down the road I can see how much I’ve progressed

this is one topic the forgers on you tube have gone after with a passion . I have seen chains , cables , nails , cut up wrenches , iron washers , split rings , horse shoes , powered iron of 3 different grades , rail road spikes and some one even did bullet cases in a bronze ingot all of them were turned in to a knife of some form. one of the old guys out there did a ax but the one thing about all of them is they came out looking so good at the end with the distinct pattern of what ever they started with . it's always exciting to see what comes out at the end of all the work .

That would have been taking the easy route ie cheating :P It's a fun experiment though, for people in the 3rd world or whatever, you can probably find a box of nails, and make a hammer out of them if that's more useful for you.
So Alec, what you could have done to solve that negative space issue in your billet is to use a fine powder mix of part steel dust/shavings and flux. I use the method in my shop, works great.

yeah, i use to make dust bombs. Saw a bunch of wood .. sweep it up in a pile.. start a campfire... throw dust on the campfire. Incredible.

They weren't galvanized, but you are correct, zinc fumes bad.

I have seen chains , cables , nails , cut up wrenches , iron washers , split rings , horse shoes , powered iron of 3 different grades , rail road spikes and some one even did bullet cases in a bronze ingot all of them were turned in to a knife of some form. one of the old guys out there did a ax but the one thing about all of them is they came out looking so good at the end with the distinct pattern of what ever they started with . it's always exciting to see what comes out at the end of all the work .

Hey could you try and make a canister damascus from chips from the lathe and mill i think that would be quite a pretty pattern plus you could use those long curlicues

So Alec, what you could have done to solve that negative space issue in your billet is to use a fine powder mix of part steel dust/shavings and flux. I use the method in my shop, works great.
