I 100% recommend getting a speed density tune. And from an actual tuner, not an OTF. I have not had any issues with mine. These engines are pretty sensitive so a tune is required if you want to get the performance out of it. I highly recommend a FMI if you are going to run it. (The OTF tune probably looks more appealing since it's cheap but my first engine blew at 50k because of one lol).
Speed density requires 0 work on a FA motor. The FA20 has the intake manifold sensor already pre installed from the factory. Your tuner just uses that to tune your car instead of the MAF. So you can just install the hks ssqv and set it up for VTA and you’re all set! Just tell your tuner of choice you need a speed density tune and you are good to go. 0 modification/installs on your end.

Also, with such consistent boost on this turbo you're going to wear out your wastegate spring and then it will release boost pre-maturely. I know from experience..
ive told many people to avoid using a air intake on their daily use subaru. it's made for racing purposes where the engine sees 100% load and frequent rebuilds. on daily engine it reduces it's life span due to making the engine run lean (too much air less fuel)
@@06wrxRAR i understand your point, I do agree not to just throw on an intake and call it a day. I know it could take more air in than required on stock tune but that's why I went with a protune, to find achieve that balance and not run lean.
