    POV DRIVE showing you guys how I downshift. This probably not the only way but I’ve never had clutch issues so take it with a grain of salt.

    the way i learned i just throw it into neutral until i brake to my desired speed, then guess the gear. def need to downshift more. thanks for the tips

      I learned the same way on old beaters. It's basically a super slow double-clutch, and you are likely doing the rev-match on the way out, so you're halfway there already!

    NEVER down shift to firsts if you’re driving already or even moving. shit will jolt like there’s no tomorrow! ( speaking from my experience learning how to drive Manual)

      Not if you rev match carefully. But yes rarely need to change into 1st (Steep hill for engine braking), what he did in the video is coasting and you would fail your UK driving test for coasting that much.

    Thanks for the video, I like your content. I've had my '21 wrx for a few years now and I'm definitely not 100% smooth with downshifts. For 6 -> 5, the rpm difference is so small, I might overblip if I'm not careful. 3 -> 2 requires a lot more blip in the 25-30+ mph range and I undershoot it every now and then. I used to get frustrated / embarrassed at the mistakes but I realized those moments are just part of learning the car. It's hard to drive perfectly. Hitting that perfect downshift is so satisfying though 😌

    Good vid bro, audio sounds perfect this time. Definitely is hard to explain downshifting, just gotta practice practice practice and get the hang of it, it becomes like second nature. Each gear is different when you down shift, and some require a bit more finesse. I don't bother downshifting all the way to 1st either when I know I am going to come to a complete stop, I just put her in neutral and coast.

    • @TrapWRX

      I would suggest feathering the gas peddle to take off until you get a hang of where that bite point is. If you tap the gas with your right foot while letting go the clutch with the left foot. you’ll find it’s a little cheat code to take off but not the smoothest looking wise if we’re being honest but it gets the job done for 1st gear.

      @@TrapWRX how long have you had her and what’s like regular maintenance I’ve seen other videos but they never really be real about it just about running thru gas, clutch or do oil change on time or just before you have to go… so like what’s else to should expect could happen and the car I’m getting is stock all thru and 17k miles.

    • @TrapWRX

      I feel you. When I got my first car, a Honda civic EX manual I had never driven manual before but I had the guy selling it take me around the blocks and a couple times to show me and then I drove back home with my dad tailing me. And I learned on that drive home.

    • @TrapWRX
      @TrapWRX  Місяць тому

      I had her since she made landing from the port. I got it brand new with 2 or 12 miles on it do quite remember but I’ve only done regular maintenance. Like Oil changes, tires and I just did brakes myself. That would’ve been the biggest cost so far ~$4k. But if you keep up on time with regular service you should be be perfect. I haven’t had any issue but I’m also stock like you are. I’ve always gone to the dealership as well for my service and they have recommendations I probably did once or twice at like 25k and 50k. And every 5k miles service I do service. Runs me about $500 at the most with some of their recommendations but no less than $75 when it’s just an oil change.

      @@TrapWRX what I've come across is the throws are shorter in the STi as well, so maybe something that can be upgraded, that's sweet tho you got the short throw off the bat but to decide on a vehicle is the first course of action, appreciate your input and video!

    Do i release the clutch fast as i downshift after blipping? Or i have to still hold to biting point for a second after blipping?

    • @TrapWRX
      @TrapWRX  27 днів тому

      It depends, if you’re not fast enough then you hold to find the biting point as if you were taking off from 1st, but if you are fast with the blip and shift change, and hit the rpm right with the blip, then you don’t have to hold the clutch to biting point it should catch perfectly you wouldn’t even feel anything, giving you a smooth downshift
