I had a Peugeot 405 in the mid-1990s which I really enjoyed driving. It was stable and NVH was exceptional for its class. The French really knew how to tune their suspension, so much so that I remember driving at high speed on the North South Highway and running over a bar on the road which blew out both my left tyres, front and rear. Yet, the car had no dramatics, did not flip over or do anything spectacular. All I heard was the noise of the blowout and rumble noise from the car and road. I steered on to the emergency lane and was thankful that my family and I were safe and uninjured. I really loved that car. Unfortunately, the 405 had problems with its auto gear reliability . Barely after owning it for 2 years, the auto gear broke down as I was driving out of Dataran Merdeka car park. I had towed it to MBf-Peugeot which was its distributor then in PJ, and was told that it would cost RM20k to replace it. And considering I had bought the car for RM90k, that meant the auto gear itself was about 1/5 of the price of the car! Even replacing it with a second-hand auto gear costs RM10k! And the foreman said that was no guarantee that even the new auto-gear would not break down again after a few years! I was so disgusted with the reliability of the car, I sold it off at a big loss, and bought myself a Toyota Prado, which gave a decade of smooth reliable driving without any issue at all before I sold it. After my brush with the Peugeot 405, I never ever looked at any Peugeot again. Yes, Peugeot make great cars with great suspension and NVH. However, have they resolved their reliability and spare parts issues?
Yeah mine was the same story for my 408 ethp which engine broke down after 7 yrs and needing 13k just to fix 1 piston. Sold it off at huge loss but I never regretted the driving experience with the car and supreme handling and suspension tuning
You posted the very same comment on other videos. What is your problem, dude ? If you don't like Peugeot, then don't buy it. Problem solved. But if you did a bit of research, you would know that Peugeot has done and is doing incredibly well in all safety tests, in all European countries. It's a completely different brand than what it was decades ago. They have dramatically improved the quality. So what's your problem bringing stuff about the 80s ? Grow up. This is 2024. By the way, Japanese brands' reputation is all about reliability, but trust me, they also have lots of technical issues. More often than you would imagine. So how many more times will you post that comment of yours, again ? How many ?
This car is so full of blind spots. Narrow field of view out of the front windshield. Tough to see obstructions behind the B and C pillars. Very limited view out the rear windshield through the rearview mirror. For it's external size, the interior isn't as big as expected. It's not as wide inside as it looks, and the rear headroom is terrible. Very strange car that is full of shortcomings that are absent with sedans and SUVs, with their shortcomings being born entirely out of their decision to prioritize design and appearance over practicality. Any practical car owner should consider a sedan or an SUV, and not a neither here nor there vehicle full of compromises such as this.
My French colleague asked me, why the heck Malaysians want to buy Peugeot? Peugeot has a better after sales and support eco system in Europe but not so in SEA..
no mention on fuel consumption
That’s how you know that this is a paid review
He started the video saying he's all about the details. Guess this is the first time he missed a detail
Another detail missed is what suspension is the car using. Peugeot goes through great length not to highlight this feature.
Yup was keen to knw Fuel Consumption
I really wish they bring the new 308 into Malaysia. that one is definitely a more slim version of this
with 50kmh at Karak Highway, you should not say it is best handling. Express Bus even faster.
Its more for customers who would like to take a risk on wasting their time to get the car fixed

Nice review.
Dear Stellantis Malaysia, please bring in the RHD E-3008 in place of the 408GT 😂
Stand out, 6 months later make video about car no parts😂
You are right, no parts for my last peugeot 207
