Paul McCartney - Chaos & Creation at Abbey Road 1/7

- Paul returns to Studio 2 at Abbey Road, the room where all the Beatles records were made, for an intimate journey through his songwriting history, from his very first Beatles song to the work on his new album "Chaos & Creation In The Backyard".
Aided and abetted by producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Travis) & using a selection of vintage instruments from his own collection (including the bass played by Bill Black on Elvis Presley's orginal recording of Heartbreak Hotel and the Mellotron & mixing desk used by the Beatles) Paul re-visits his back catalogue in new & revealing ways in front of an audience of just 64 people, including wife Heather, Fran Healy from Travis and Guy Chambers among others.
He'll be re-interpreting old songs, revealing new ones, playing some great cover versions & enlisting the audience's help in a demonstration of "in the moment" songwriting & arranging.
Music included in the programme:
-Paul on Acoustic guitar playing "Friends To Go" and "How Kind Of You".
-This is followed by the recording of an alternate version of "Band On The Run".
-On Acoustic again, Paul performing the pre-Beatles song "In Spite Of All Danger"
-Paul singing a couple of verses of "Twenty Flight Rock".
-Paul on Piano playing a Gospel-type rendition of "Lady Madonna".
-Also on Piano a song about English Tea.
-A couple of bars of "Heartbreak hotel" played on an Upright bass.
-Paul demonstrating the Mellotron and making up a song with it.
-The opening bars of "Strawberry Fields Forever" played on the Mellotron.
-Paul playing a new song called "Jenny Wren" on Acoustic guitar.
-Next the Beatles songs "I've Got A Feeling" and "Blackbird".
-Paul jamming and recording an improvised song with the Audience playing percussion. No title.
Even to this day, Paulie's voice relaxes me and makes me happy. Love
I can't believe I have never seen this! Paul looks so gorgeous and I just love the songs from this album.
He was born to perform !!! Peak of talent and perfection !!!
This is great. What a class act, so full of wit and wisdom.
Chaos & Creation is a huge record in my life. Changed my thinking and composing
Paul is the best, and as far as the Beatles go, John and Paul are the greatest song writers in history. They played off each other and competed with one another during the Beatles. Their music is timeless and will still be listened to centuries from now. There is not another single or group that will be remembered in music all the rest are footnotes.
Paul McCartney is simply amazing
in the McCartney Years he only put like 10 minutes of the whole programme...I LOVE this!
"Friends To Go" is the best song on this program...love this version of it!!!
Paul is so AWESOME
This is wonderful. So up close and personal that you really feel like you get to know him personally. What an awesome tribute to The Beatles, and all Sir Paul's fine accomplishments. There is also the Beatles' Anthology, which is an excellent legacy for many generations to come. Such a great legend in his time - I've the most respect and admiration for his music, and as a person. Thank you, Sir Paul ~ You'll never know the massive impact you, John, George and Ringo have had on millions!
To this day, his best solo album since Ram. Paul at Beatles-level excellence.
wow thanks for uploading this. I watched a BIT of it when I was flipping through the channels.
Saw this on a PBS Great Performances show, very enjoyable to see Paul connecting to an audience up close.
thank you thank you thank you for posting this, i´ve been trying to find this since i ever saw on tv
great man..amazing
Paul looks 20 years younger!!! he rocks!
The Songs we all share in the long run This is the song of us all
The 'oooh's right at the end of the song are brilliant.
what a song well done!
Chaos and Creation is a GREAT album!
Paul is a musical wonder and John was courageous to pick someone who was musically superior, it helped that Paul was younger than John at the time. John was able to write lyrics that were personal and relevant, this seemed to be his gift, you hear echoes of this in Paul and George at times.
It's a such a wonderful part of life watching someone living their passion and sharing it with the world. Wow! Praying that you have the opportunity to do the same.
Rick
I love this song...
Strong words my friend, all the Beatles had their own style and talents, there wouldn't be a McCartney without a Lennon and vice-versa.
They all fed off one another.
Love "Friends To Go"!
genialidad indiscutible, desde México !PAUL IS THE BEST! CLARO QUE SI!! :)
He was about 63 when he did this, he did this in 2005 with Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.
words dont do someone of his talent level justice.
one word, LEGEND
I couldn't have said it better! Cheers.
Although I landed here a wee bit late...
I entirely agree your comments davsder
Wise words fella
I started playing bass & guitar aboot 30 years ago and had to deal with my own rec studio too ... trackin' drums keys etc and know well how difficult it could be to get into trouble/s with yourself when its time to put all things together .... plus lyrics, vocals (includ. clappin' yourself )
Under my humble view Macca is a COMPLETE musician.
thats y they were such a killer combo
amazing! it really sounds like George wrote that.
and he did actually, through Paul
excellent
He is a fantastic man.
Waay underrated, id kill to get any tapes of his.
What a beautiful album. I didnt even know it existed haha i really need to buy this album somehow!!
xx
Paul. você é o melhor cantor e músico do universo, sem comentários!!!!!!
The Abbey Road Studios, what a historical landmark
I savor every day he's alive. To me he's like living at the same time as an Einstein or a Mozart or a Van Goh. In the future, everyone will be talking about Paul in the same way. So let's appreciate it while it's here. Check out 'Two Fingers' by him on You Tube and then come back and comment on what I just said
he is the man!!!
It's so amazing to think that at some point he was a 17 year old kid who knew nothing about the recording industry. I have a hard time imagining him as anything other than an icon.
It already has my friend by all the great music that was recorded in #2.
stop war Paul and John!!!They are fantastic
he has lots....and he once SAID in an interview (its on utube) "i wish someone would dig up my demos after im gone and make something out of em" :) :) he is very underrated...
"On The Other Side " is my fav from the album, Nice performance.
It’s called Friends To Go 😊
would have loved to be at this gig at Abbey Road!!
2:36 you can see all the memories of paul in that look
wish my music class was like this :)
when I saw this video, my initial thought was something along the lines of "ahh it's cool that paul mccartney is playing at abbey road." it's funny, the place has become such an icon on its own and has had so many great musicians play there that I forgot for a second the reason it's so well known- george and paul and ringo and and john
i think the song is great. he also played all the instruments on the song on the actual album, but of course you never listened to that to know.
most songs that are played on just an acoustic will sound similar.
fantastic album, fantastic song
Paul is the greatest
His voice sounds so good for his age holy shit!
Paul Mccartney is the best!!!!!!
Te amo idolo🥰🥰🥰
@ClementinaWilde Yeaahh! I'll be there too, row # 4!! It will be the best concert ever!!
@JoDeePurkeypile
Tickets to this are priceless!
genius
Well it's a song I specifically look for to play while driving the city.
5 stars.
They were the best
@MrRocked123 instruments are are recorded on seperate tracks during the studio sesions and then mixing and putting it all together during the production stage (usually by the sound engineer and artist himself) ..
NOS VEMOS EL 27 DE MAYO PAUL VIVA MEXICO
'someone else can worry about me'
That would be me Paulie!
I'd love to waiting on the other side with you.
@hostingturan not a shrine? well.. you made me thinking about having my wedding day here :D
@Serenamcflyfan you can buy chaos and creation on itunes. they might not have beatles stuff, but they sure have paul's solo albums!
this last song I called "Get Off" its a espectacular improvisation
his best music since the white album kh
I know im gonna get reammed out for saying this but...I think most Beatles fans who are old enough to remember seeing them, havent got a clue about what Paul has done in the last 2 decades! I guess i was fortunate enough to be growing up in the 80s so I dont count "Band on the Run" as like the greatest thing Paul ever did solo, that being said, I believe this song IS the best song he has done as a solo artist!! ok you can start throwing tomatoes at me ha ha ha ha
@JMcG92 completely agree with you
Its hard to say who was better as musicians betwen John or Paul but I think that Paul was greater cause he is really fantastic, your way of singing is batles, brilòliant a very gentleman musician
John was certainly the soul of The Beatles....but Paul was the head, and an album like Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is the proof of this!
Paul and Ringo need to do for George what they did for John. Take a few of his demos and complete them. Thumbs up if you agree
i wonder how much tickets to that cost
thats the real bill black stand up bass, and if you are in los angeles ever i would like fight you, just for the honor of the tightest rockabilly trio, bill black, D.J Fontana and the legend Scotty Moore.
everybody know that he was one of the most musician in the history.however now he sings like my grandfather. anyway we never forget him xd
voy a ir a ver a paul Siiiiiiii
welcome to mexico city
Man, would have loved to be there for this. Tickets must have cost... ?
The sexiest and talented man I know in my life...
that's a cool ambigram
Elsker den "video" - så den først for nylig, men det gør den ikke mindre god. Han er da genial - manden!
@TheMrFrazzle Haha so true.
@BL80488 they kind of did....but it was his son dahni(and beatles) that finished georges abum....i think
does anybody know the name of the typography he uses at the begining of the video? it´s very cool cause that `Paul McCartney´ can be read backward and forward =)
This is to cool to do for everyone exept for one artist...
Nothing sounds like the big old Martin D series guitar. Of course, that big old Neumann parked in front of it doesn't hurt, either.
@dewy200884 ah i see what you mean, thanks for the info
@catchytune909 I think it's called an ambigram.
hey, you forgot to put the number 2, it says that it no longer available
uplaod it please
thanks
Is there a dvd with all these videos??
Ey, cool, Floridaboy7777!
BEautiful, but you could have coded the audio in higher quality, so there wouldn't be so much hiss
george for me was the soul ! :)
1:51 it looks like he dropped something down his guitar as he says "yes." just the reflection.
They came in as twenty year old kids, and proceed to change the world.
excuse, do you know where if this material is included in any cd or dvd??? thanks
2006
@BL80488 i dont think George has any demos to be finished, that or i havent looked hard enough
where can I see the rest of this?
@rabbitbassman Hey Han Solo....Paul called....he wants his outfit back.
