Recently read a list of the 50 most covered songs in history. Beatles had I believe 21 of the 50, with Yesterday being #1, and I don't believe anyone else had more than 2 on the list. Pretty much speaks to the greatness of Paul and his bandmates.

Exactly! I mean Bill Blacks standup double bass got oohs and ahhs and I can see that.. Being part of the Elvis trio and all. But this is The Beatles pulse here! The Beatles Gear put it best that this guitar (Paul's bass) and John's original Rickenbacker were the most significant guitars!!! :-D

The thing that stood out in this video was the wonderful natural unrehearsed unproduced magic of a "Beatle". Compare that to today where everything is so plastically produced.

Bill white I wish your parents would of rehearsed, so the stain that they did wind up with at least had some character and perception. If you cant see the true talent and beautifully simple engineering created in this video, back when technology did not create a music star, but talent and ability did, then you need to hang up your autoharp and pray to god and allah that you don't lose your assistant to the assistant manager at your local Mcdonalds. GOOD LUCK JUNIOR.

      @billybobjoetheprofessional3890 6 років тому

Funny you say “plastic”- in the Beatles rock band, they use little bits of banter in the studio that actually happened to bookend the songs, so you really get the feeling of playing in a studio, and one of the things they say (sounds like George to me) after a song is “Plastic song, man, plastic song!”

I couldn't agree more. I felt this more and more over the past couple of years. It's wonderful to discover all these things he's leaving, but also heartbreaking to see him slowly stepping away. That really hit home with the recent release of 'Now and Then'.
History will remember him well simply because he's one of the greatest cultural figures of this or any age. But it will also remember him even better as he's now written, curated and shaped that history. He's leaving behind a treasure trove for future musicologists, academics, fans, and the musicians of the future to discover, learn from and maybe even one day emulate...

He opened a school for the arts, so others can learn to hone their interests and gifts: LIPA, which is Not named after him. Loves life, people, and creatures on this jewel of a planet. Most people at his level would just sit back and enjoy their millions but he is a true artist so he keeps on creating music. I have heard him speak so often about contemporary music. He is interested in what young people do and he is not lost in nostalgia and trying to prop up is reputation like so many of his generation. He is an inspiring lifetime musician and artist. They often wrote together in hotel rooms early on or at each others home (together they wrote 300 songs that were thrown away as not good enough). "One after 909" is one that survived that early period. Later they mostly wrote alone but would get suggestions from each other or even a middle 8 bars. George might even throw in some lyrics and the memorable hook. When there is nobody to say no to Paul the result is often questionable, IMO. :)

Since that horrible night when John was taken from his friends and loved ones, and from the world, Sir Paul has carried the tremendous weight of The Beatles on his shoulders, with great grace and dignity and class.
Had John lived we may well have had a new Beatles album (or two), but Paul stepped up to the plate and has been hitting home runs ever since!
Many people are given the title "genius," who really aren't, but Paul McCartney truly is a genius, hands down!
The Beatles were the first and the best, and the fact that the sheer variety and volume of music they created is still being listened to and talked about, all these decades later, just proves that point. Long live the greatest band in the history of rock, long live The Beatles! ✌🏼&❤️

Both Ringo and George were also Beatles members and carried the weight until the passing of George, Ringo and Paul played together on Helter Skelter. The Beatles knew they had to split, the one that took it the hardest was Ringo.... But they all grew into their own Strawberry fields including John before he was shot. So you may think Paul carried the weight but it was shared between all of them. And personally Ringo was there on Georges death bed and was also there for Yoko when John was killed. Ringo was more of a Beatle than any of the other members.... John Lennon even stated Ringo was the Heart of them

I am less than two months younger than Paul. At the time, in the Sixties, I didn't appreciate him. I'd been brought up on Swing and Buddy Holly. Now, much later, I recognize that he with John, were the greatest song writers of the Twentieth Century. He and The Beatles did indeed change the world.

I agree: Lennon and Mccartney are the greatest songwriting duo of the 20th century. Two other phenomenal songwriting duos come to mind: George and Ira Gershwin and Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Just wow!!!

What can you say about this guy that hasn't been said? I know a lot of people have tried him, and found him guilty of "not being John Lennon", but that attitude really misses the point. The Beatles already had "a John". What they needed was "a Paul" to compliment him, and "a George" to complement them both. Its not about which one was the best, though that's how people act. Like a lot of the great achievements in this world, the Beatles were a group effort. Throw Ringo and George Martin in that effort too.
But I think for me, there's something about Paul's voice--hearing him is like hearing an old friend--one that's been around as long as you can remember! And every time I hear I want to sing along!

Paul took flight. I was on board. I see, feel and remember. Transcending space and time to complete the circle of life. He unlocked many doors for all of us to see ourselves and gave it all to us in song. I too am grateful we shared the planet as contemporaries.

This was great. Even the equipment; his Hoffner bass, Elvis's bands double bass (and the image of it strapped to their car), the mixing deck, the harmonium and just the Abbey Road studio...... I have to admit I view them with almost religious awe, such relics of music history! That moment when Paul played the beginning of Strawberry Fields on that incredible 'synthesiser' was incredible.

I absolutely adore Sir Paul McCartney - he's a genius. My son's estimated delivery date was the 24th June 2020. He first saw light on 18th June 2020 - same day 78 years after Paul McCartney - so we spontaneousely decided to give him a third name, which is PAUL :-)

Paul simply creatively complicated for all the best music reasons. As a Song writer currently I can say. When I listen to this presentation or play a song on piano off a music book, of a song I never hear on the radio. And when I hear the music. My reaction is, this is so good! If time allows it I pray my music can find its connection to Paul's music.. yet really it already has! Richard Marshall Goff Sr

He’s still writing great songs. One of the most Amazing Figures of our times. I went through a long period of not really liking him all that much but I’ve come to appreciate him again here later in life. I mean; he’s written several Masterful CLASSICAL PIECES recently too. And the one I heard was GOOD.! Name me ONE rock musician from the past 50 years who has done THAT.
