Minecraft is all about thinking outside the box. Occasionally I see videos where I go: huh, I never thought you could use that block that way. I thought it was only intended for xyz, and the concept was in front of my nose for years.
@echoplots8058 , well, you’re partly right, Minecraft (mostly with content from mods) has such an assortment of its own capabilities and materials that can fascinate us for years. But I’ve seen enough sandboxes, programming languages, etc. and I’ll say that Minecraft has a lot of weird limitations that only force you “thinking *inside* the box”. Of course, some of the limitations can be explained by the code (and the source code is still closed at all, what is there to protect like that?..) and the Java limitations, but… do we really have to spend so much time of our short lives on so many tricks when there are so many good sandboxes/art programs? Everything is good in its own way, but that’s not what I’m talking about now. Studying all these tricks will probably take longer than some really useful school subjects (imagine the current average student who gets a bad grade in TNT duping…). ;D Every time I watch someone build complex mechanisms, computers in Minecraft, Terraria, etc., it seems to me that they are suffering in vain, as if writing *serious* projects in some fun slow/unreadable esoteric languages. I’m not even talking about my 0-10 FPS when I was still playing Java Minecraft, how much would it freeze now after 7 years of disbalance-quantity-over-quality updates? More likely, I just forgot how to have fun. But I still decided to remind everyone of other ways to think outside the box. And the ways don’t end with these, of course. I once started collecting a whole list (simple TXT) of mind-expanding/fun works, please do not consider them advertising… I tried cutting the link in a bunch of ways while UA-cam just doesn’t allow me to publish a comment without hiding it, so… here’s something to view the TXT on Google Drive: 1jrhkC7HA-oGpLdcbjD3zMYEsnZrAxGwT
