Having more underwater hostiles would be so much more fun and be an indirect buff to the trident. But having a mob that sucks you further underwater sounds way more annoying than phantoms.
I like mobs that just make the game harder but not unplayable or destruxtive on many levels. Creapers are controled but more ocean mobs like that are a great way to counter the op items in minecraft like netherite and +9 damage strength 2 sharpness V nethernite axes.

Iceologers would’ve fit the caves and cliffs update perfectly. From how they were described they seemed like they would’ve taken advantage of the vertical terrain to provide for an interesting challenge
Another reason why the Monster of the Ocean's Depths was probably not added it because the idea of it was probably terrifying to some people. If I were to make a comparison, think of the Barnacle from Half Life; it's really nothing more than a monster with a large tongue and if you get caught in the tongue it will pull you up towards it and eat you. But apparently some folks find the idea of that so unsettling that there are mods that remove every barnacle from the game. So I can imagine that adding something similar to Minecraft would be pretty unsettling to a number of players.
I love the squid monster if for nothing else it hides in plain sight which is a super cool design for a hostile mob and not something that’s been done before. Thinking about the way it moves also gives me the chills. We also need some slightly darker, deeper parts or oceans and these guys would be perfect for that.
The water in general is severely lacking biodiversity. Oceans on earth are significantly more diverse than the land, and yet there are only a handful of mobs underwater. There is so much potential for new mobs, along with items and structures for said mobs (Especially for giving an incentive to go there since it can be significantly harder to navigate and survive underwater). That's why I didn't mind the glow squid winning despite its less interesting mechanics
@@Bupboy chillager sounds stupid as hell. Makes me grateful that it never got added... except now I gotta hear you infants complaining about it till the end of time.
I think they might backtrack on what they said about the 2017 vote since the Hovering Inferno was added to Dungeons. I know that doesn't mean a thing but remember the Pillager was originally made for that game!!! (Also the Iceologer is there and he's getting into the game at some point apparently sooo). I could honestly do without the Great Hunger but I think an actual fish enemy/ocean monster and an actual Nether miniboss would be cool additions (they both got sick designs too)
They should add all of the mobs… tbh they actually could.. but start with the one with most votes then the one with the second amount then the one with the least
Recently I had been thinking about the Glare and how it could have been useful, so I’ve decided to re-invent it. Feel free to give thoughts and critiques: The Glare is another shy mob who keeps its distance from players and other mobs. It’s floaty and ghost-like, and it’s so scared of the dark that it has covered itself in glow lichen. We don’t know what the mob actually looks like for this reason, but we can still see its eyes peering out at us. Due to its glowy nature, this mob is illuminated like the glow squid, but doesn’t give off light to its surroundings. To benefit from this mob, hold out a piece of glow lichen. This would lure the Glare to you, and right click it with however many pieces of lichen you would like it to use (64 lichen limit). The Glare would then float away, exploring a certain radius around you (say, 50 blocks in all directions) placing glow lichen next to ores that have a light level of 0. The Glare would light up the nearest ores first, then get the farthest last, so long as it has enough lichen from the player. It would also prioritize ores on the ceiling first, then work its way down to ground level. The Glare would not prioritize any ore before another, so be sure to give it lots of lichen to use. Killing the Glare drops 0-2 glow lichen as well as all the lichen still in its inventory after the player gives it some. Could you use night vision? Yes, but that costs you blaze powder, glass, etc. This way you can find ceiling ores at the cost of glow lichen, something much cheaper to obtain and convenient to use, since it grows in the same habitat as the Glare. However, with this method, you wouldn’t see the entire cave. This is the trade-off.

Mojang never said the mob vote losers would be added, they only said the biome vote losers would be added in the future. The most they ever said about the mob vote losers was that they “still could be added” in the future, that they went back to the “ideas library”.
Just a reminder that the mechanism of the crab's extended range was implemented alongside the armadillo. It's just available through commands, but it's there, but that only means that there's a bigger chance of getting added into the game (that or be replaced for other thing as it happen with the grindstone)
This makes me think the Crab was the intended mob to win. And Mojang probably ended up having to create all the Armadillo/Dog armor stuff from scratch.
@@JinxeBlaq or what is most likely... they saw how much the community liked extended block reach and decided to implement it. It doesn't make sense to make a vote if you already are planning one specific choice to win.
Hot take, I think that mob votes would work, but instead of choosing between three different mobs, it’s a single mob and people choose what biome/purpose it would have
There’s a couple things I always think about the loosing mobs: 1. It would have been so cool to see the Tuff and Coper golems in the trial chambers, like deactivated and oxidized but coming to life along with the trials: walking around and displaying loot and pushing buttons that set off some of the traps 2. The Iceologer was probably meant to fit the Caves and Cliffs seeing as it would spawn in the snowy _cliffs_ (and it could have been like the Ice King with Goats instead of penguins but penguins would be added eventually anyway so)
personally a simple solution imo is just add all 3 mobs but do it over a period of time so winner gets added within weeks of the Mob Vote 2nd Place gets added 6months+ after 3rd place gets added nearly a year later just a bit before the mob vote starts all over again something like that wouldnt be a huge deal everyone gets the mob they wanted and it really just is a cool way to do popularity as theyll go with their favorite instead of possibly just the most practical as ik votes can definitely influence that lol sure one might be your personal favorite but you wouldnt want to vote it cuz it literally contributes nothing to the game Its not like it would be difficult for them to do they already have the code done and examples ready for what the mobs would do not to mention it would just let the communtiy have fun while adding content to the game consistently every year tho i wouldve liked if they did it but with other stuff such as Biomes or the sort wouldve been cool to see a vote on really cool possible biomes for the overworld Nether or End even
I vehemently supported the Glare because so many people play Bedrock, which doesn't have the F3 screen for light levels. Remember, at the time mobs started spawning at light level 7, not 0, so it would've been good for lighting up areas that could theoretically spawn mobs. Even now, it'd still be helpful for Bedrock players who are hard of seeing.
Crab: 1.9 incident Copper golem: Redstone randomizer but alive Tuff golem: moving item frame Hovering inferno: blaze boss Iceologer: Stray but better Penguin: depth strider that works on boats Rascal: side quests but underpowered Moobloom: mooshroom's relative Monster of the ocean depths: guardians but worse Great hunger: annoyance Glare: cute moss block
Hasn’t Mojang said for the last 5-6 years that the mob vote losers would likely not be added ever. It was only the biome vote losers that they said would eventually be added at a later date. Though I would like to see all the second place losers added…
i rlly like your videos. fun to watch or just to listen to in the background :] my fave is probably the blaze boss (even if the crab would almost certainly be more useful objectively), more tough enemies could be a fun challenge and would definitely fit into the somewhat ominous nether fortress. maybe they could even update the fortress itself with a couple extra rooms or new nether brick variants but its already cool

I think there at least needs to be some sort of vote if something where the community can interact with the game development. The mob vote was the only thing we had
On social media, some devs said every once in a while when the topic came up that the mobs "went back into the Ideas Library" with the possibility of being rethought or recycled into their base feature purpose. Thus, I believe the ● Barnacle, ● Glare, ● The Great Hunger have been replaced by ● Magma Blocks (underwater downward bubble columns) ● Torch light (It now fully blocks spawning, instead of only going part of the distance) ● Grindstone Hopefully, the 2 golems can be made into something a lot more people want, because I like the general idea of golem made from Tuff and copper. I just didn't feel much for the ideas they presented.
With the Copper and Tuff Golems, the devs agreed that they would be a great fit for The Trial Chambers, but said they were unable to allocate development to them. I do wonder if half the reason for the Mob Vote's cancelation is that Mojang has too many past ideas they want to dust off. Could we see the vote return in a couple years as a redemption round for past candidates? How about pairing 2 mobs together per vote? Copper Golem & Tuff Golem, Wildfire & Iceologer, and... Well, the first two don't require too much work, as the Golems can be developed as 1 mob and then forked to make the two, and the Dungeons mobs can be ripped from their game and be reprogramed as necessary for compatibility. But who should the third two be? as I'm not seeing anything in particular in common with the remaining candidates. Would it be cheating to list the Moolip to accompany the Moobloom? Also: oxidizing Copper Buttons wouldn't just be another pretty face, but would have a ton of Redstone potential given the randomness of reliability.
@@HackerDragon9999 Crab will probably be among the first to be added. Outside of a vote given the popularity. Perhaps even within the next 5 drops. I figure that the 2 real-life mobs are near the start of the cue, whereas fantasy mobs will resurface more randomly. However, I think Mojang went on record saying that Mob C was outright replaced by the grindstone, meaning that it is probably towards the back of the cue, if at all. Sadly, that very first vote may be the one where they truly tossed all the unused concepts into the burning lava and The Hovering Inferno only survived to become the Wildfire in Dungeons because it was made of fire. But in all seriousness, one way or another, most mob vote candidates will probably resurface eventually sometime within the next 15 years.
@@N-MCMXCIX the 2017 mobs are scrapped for good, but wish they weren't or maybe improve them, but as I said in a different comment section, why not go back and improve them and exists along with likewise features tbh, here's what I think should be done for them tbh: Mob A aka Monster of the Deep: It drags us player down when we are in the water and don't expect it, we thought we swam or sailed over one of those magma blocks or soul sand, but it is this thing called the Kraken (new name for this), it uses its abilities to drag us down to feast on us but we end up defeating it, it drops a rare item that benefits us with exploration or collecting items, we use this to craft something or such to help us, it help us suck in items that have been dropped from a good distance or at hard to reach places like up high or down low then trying to climb up or down for it, also use or to disorient mobs and such, so there Mob B aka Hovering Inferno: This new mob acts as a mini boss for the Blaze and spawns in a unique structure that looks similar or part of the Nether Stronghold, we go there and defeat it but it is tough because of its shield, a mini boss with shields are needed, we call this the Wildfire or the Blaze Lord or something, when defeated it drops couple or rare and unique items, and one of them helps to enhance and buffs our shield for tougher mobs, so there Mob C aka The Great Hunger: This Mob is a tricky one, not in Just game wise but in general, it will still have its abilities and such, just the Grindstone exists, only thing I can think of that it still does what it originally meant to do, but it's unique drop may have something to do with the Grindstone, maybe either improve it or the item would benefit the Grindstone or whatever, quite tricky tbh, so yeah Well, that's I can think of, what you all think about my ideas tbh
@@bradwhite5884 I only mentioned that one mob from 2017 because of its appearance in Dungeons improving its chances, the other two mob concepts have been replaced by mechanics and therefore are the least likely to resurface. Again, Crab & Penguin are the most likely to happen first, then probably the ones I paired up, then the post Biome Vote candidates I didn't mention, then maybe the 2017 losers at the back of the cue. Also, probably at least one Biome Vote drop before any Mob Vote mob resurfaces.
@@N-MCMXCIX Well, never say never to the other two tbh, who said they cannot exist with already existing mechanics, hey maybe whatever item they drop may improve them or be a better way to get them, like you have to go to the Nether to get soul sand, you have to kill magma cubes in the Nether or find random Nether portal or part of the ocean that have magma cubes that spawn naturally, the monster of the deep is the second most likely to be added, just the last one is a bit tricky unless it drops an item that we can use with grindstone or maybe benefit such tbh, so there
considering how Attributes work in Minecraft and the ones that exist, the crab claw would extend block placing and mining reach but not give you more Reach against Zombies and other Entities

The reasons these mobs weren't added yet was because they are low priority, not because of the vote. They can come in at any time just like before, or they might not. To my knowledge (yes I'm sure other people are saying this too, and THIS too), Jeb wanted the Glare to be added for two reasons. The smaller reason was a way to telegraph darkness information to Bedrock, which doesn't have an F3 screen. The larger reason is Jeb regrets giving Java players access to the F3 menu and wanted a tangible, diegetic, in-game solution to provide darkness information.

4:00 I heavily disgree, the fact there's only THREE hostile underwater mobs and two of them can only spawn in structures, with one of those two being unable to respawn.

Recently I had been thinking about the Glare and how it could have been useful, so I’ve decided to re-invent it. Feel free to give thoughts and critiques:
The Glare is another shy mob who keeps its distance from players and other mobs.
Aw man, no more Mob Votes 😞 I wanted Scissorman in the game...

Hot take, I think that mob votes would work, but instead of choosing between three different mobs, it’s a single mob and people choose what biome/purpose it would have
There’s a couple things I always think about the loosing mobs:
1. It would have been so cool to see the Tuff and Coper golems in the trial chambers, like deactivated and oxidized but coming to life along with the trials: walking around and displaying loot and pushing buttons that set off some of the traps
2. The Iceologer was probably meant to fit the Caves and Cliffs seeing as it would spawn in the snowy _cliffs_ (and it could have been like the Ice King with Goats instead of penguins but penguins would be added eventually anyway so)
personally a simple solution imo is just add all 3 mobs but do it over a period of time
so winner gets added within weeks of the Mob Vote
2nd Place gets added 6months+ after
3rd place gets added nearly a year later just a bit before the mob vote starts all over again
something like that wouldnt be a huge deal everyone gets the mob they wanted and it really just is a cool way to do popularity as theyll go with their favorite instead of possibly just the most practical as ik votes can definitely influence that lol sure one might be your personal favorite but you wouldnt want to vote it cuz it literally contributes nothing to the game
Its not like it would be difficult for them to do they already have the code done and examples ready for what the mobs would do not to mention it would just let the communtiy have fun while adding content to the game consistently every year
tho i wouldve liked if they did it but with other stuff such as Biomes or the sort wouldve been cool to see a vote on really cool possible biomes for the overworld Nether or End even
2:14 at this point mobs could still spawn anywhere below 7 i think, this wasn't changed to 0 until 1.17/1.18 so it was still hard to tell exactly
watching your vids on a saturday is always a treat, another reason to look forward to the weekends
I guess we'll have to keep coping until they finally add the losers...
mojang would never have needed to end the mob vote if they just actually started adding back the losers like they promised imo

On social media, some devs said every once in a while when the topic came up that the mobs "went back into the Ideas Library" with the possibility of being rethought or recycled into their base feature purpose.
Thus, I believe the
● Barnacle,
● Glare,
● The Great Hunger
have been replaced by
● Magma Blocks (underwater downward bubble columns)
● Torch light (It now fully blocks spawning, instead of only going part of the distance)
● Grindstone
Hopefully, the 2 golems can be made into something a lot more people want, because I like the general idea of golem made from Tuff and copper.

Crab and Mob C? Just based on looks
@@N-MCMXCIX the 2017 mobs are scrapped for good, but wish they weren't or maybe improve them, but as I said in a different comment section, why not go back and improve them and exists along with likewise features tbh, here's what I think should be done for them tbh:
Mob A aka Monster of the Deep:
It drags us player down when we are in the water and don't expect it, we thought we swam or sailed over one of those magma blocks or soul sand, but it is this thing called the Kraken (new name for this), it uses its abilities to drag us down to feast on us but we end up defeating it, it drops a rare item that benefits us with exploration or collecting items, we use this to craft something or such to help us, it help us suck in items that have been dropped from a good distance or at hard to reach places like up high or down low then trying to climb up or down for it, also use or to disorient mobs and such, so there
Mob B aka Hovering Inferno:
This new mob acts as a mini boss for the Blaze and spawns in a unique structure that looks similar or part of the Nether Stronghold, we go there and defeat it but it is tough because of its shield, a mini boss with shields are needed, we call this the Wildfire or the Blaze Lord or something, when defeated it drops couple or rare and unique items, and one of them helps to enhance and buffs our shield for tougher mobs, so there
Mob C aka The Great Hunger:
This Mob is a tricky one, not in Just game wise but in general, it will still have its abilities and such, just the Grindstone exists, only thing I can think of that it still does what it originally meant to do, but it's unique drop may have something to do with the Grindstone, maybe either improve it or the item would benefit the Grindstone or whatever, quite tricky tbh, so yeah
Well, that's I can think of, what you all think about my ideas tbh

I think the chillager could drop the ice wand from Minecraft dungeons allowing you to cast ice blocks
