6:35 I mean, their only issue with Villagers is that they are too peaceful, never wishing to pick up a weapon to defend their land. Likely a Pillager shopkeep would still lop off your hand for trying to steal. A cutthroat merchant if you would.

Villages are dictatorship states where villagers are prohibited from owning guns. The iron golems are then created to protect them instead.

I think Mojang's biggest problem is that it has to move everything to the Bedrock version but that's no excuse since we have the Nether Update that was in both versions

Vanilla villages "molding to the landscape" is stretching it in my experience. Ever since the village update, not a single village I have visited has been intact enough to be saved. Villages divided by a ravine, half on a giant cliff, houses standing 5 blocks above all others... yeah it's something.
you forgot about the villages that spawn in the middle of a lake....
Well i guess optimizing that would decrease the probability of a village spawing by a lot, so it is better to rely on the usual generation for the higher probability
the farms that are full of holes and flood the entire village...
Actually, I myself would be very thankful if the generaton of villages was a bit more cautious. Like, it would be prohibited too close to water, too close to steep terrain etc. You can say that it would diminish chances of finding a village, but that's... Arguable. I can't say I'm impressed by the way the world is just bursting with villages nowdays.
@@ltredscorpion7147 those tend to at least all be on the same level and have accessible houses, they're the best villages I've seen in vanilla since 1.16.5.

This is some incredible work that still feels like it could fit in Minecraft with very minor tweaking. I absolutely love the idea of reskinned normal swords that you can find in very specific circumstances, even if it's just like three or four different versions that come pre-baked with a certain enchantment (ie a Ghastly Blade that you find with fire aspect 2), that would make exploration that much more fun to find exclusive swords, and it would make display rooms way cooler

This is an awesome video! You didn’t just make an impressive storyline, builds and coding, but you were also able to put it together in a video that came out so fun and entertaining. The pillager Jarl’s story was on point! I would love to see an update like this in minecraft!!

Over and over again, more than enough for several updates. And I think players would be more than happy to have mini updates that just drop these or similar things in.

@@christopherrogers303 Yeah, with no QA, no accountability to external and internal stakeholders, no iteration, no marketing, nada. The ability to pump out a mod in a week is incomparable to long-term game development.
You're all missing the point here. Mojang isn't "lazy" for not pumping out an update every 7 days. They're probably lazy, sure, but they have to hold themselves to higher standards than some guy called Whimzee using *their* scripting language to do what is essentially glorified command block hackery.
Data pack "programmers" like Whimzee confine themselves exclusively to tools within vanilla Minecraft that have been thoroughly tested for their stability. They don't have to debug, don't have to prove that their "code" works, because they're not adding anything to the game; that's the job of the software engineers at Mojang, who have to make sure that none of the tools that they hand their players are likely to break the game.

@@King_of_Cards I'm not sure if your joking or not, but he makes datapacks, not mods. If he were to actually code at Mojang, he would need to do java programming (which datapacks dont do).

it's just one of their tools to make updates faster just like using blockbench for models textures and animations

@@eliescobis9922I never said it wasn't coding. Its just not the same language as base minecraft, meaning if someone wants to add something to vanilla minecraft, they NEED to know java. All datapacks are doing is overriding existing code through mcfunction and other types of files.
Just shows how little Mojang actually does in a year.

You should see just how slow things are in the tech world. You usually gotta get approval from so many people, hold meetings, perform bug testing and generate reports and this could just be for a single mob/entity. That process alone could take 2-3 months, especially in the case of Microsoft.

Microshit told that they are not gonna get involved in the development on Minecraft. it's the Mojunk top who decide on what being added and what not. Since when they have "SO MANY PEOPLE" of those people who make decisions? ≈600 (2021) work in mojunk and they still don't make shit.

These aren’t mods. These are data packs, meaning you can play them in vanilla

Absolutely love how it looks like it fits into the game so well. Yet I still believe going with a simplistic rout with the boss would be best. What makes Minecraft so unique is how everything is so well thought out. You giving your self a week takes away that very important time needed to really find something cool. This actually kinda shows how having a gameplay designer is really useful. they think of everything and refine all the ideas. and then you code it all in only once.
This single guy is making way more better features than all Minecraft developers
A winter update would be amazing. Like in cold biomes, you could start freezing to death, and there will be occasional blizzards. Just an update with anything related to winter and the cold.
at that point minecraft will become game of thrones

First of all this is incredible work. This seems like a very fun addition to the game and it also looks very visually appealing, especially for the given time frame.
Secondly, thank you for bringing more spotlight to devlogging minecraft. I find it entertraining.
Lastly, thank you for bringing more attention to Datapacks specifically. I think they are extremely overlooked in the general minecraft community and you are doing an excellent work at showing Datapacks' true capabilities.
10:00 i like everything about the Jarl’s design… especially in it’s iron-golem-esque physique, dual-wielding of a sword and crossbow, and the totem of undying necklace…
HOWEVER, i think a basic iron/netherite sword, albeit with a larger size scaling and some enchantments (perhaps with some Emerald or Amethyst details, similar to Armor Trims… which, i suppose would also imply the potential addition of Weapon Trims), would have been the best way to go for the boss’ melee weapon… no offense, but the unique sword, despite being as cool as it looks, makes the Illager Jarl look too much like a Modded-Minecraft Boss, rather than a Vanilla-Minecraft Boss

I love the ideas and the implementation. I feel the outpost could add a treasure map like guide to the main base. The reward of being able to trade with pillagers would be awesome. Also giving the outposts their own unique banners would be a cool touch. All in all love the content

I'm always blown away with what people can do with datapacks, excellent work!
As for the diamonds, I'll give my two cents on the topic - Diamonds are better off as nonrenewable, since you don't need a massive amount of them. After getting a couple of kits, you don't really need more diamonds for your entire duration on that world. Compare that to resources such as iron, gold, and emeralds - Used in important building blocks, consumables, and trading. The player needs more throughout their entire game.
This, however, gives diamonds a very powerful use - As a nonrenewable resource, they work perfectly for server currency. They can't be easily devalued due to their scarcity. No other resource, with the possible exception of netherite, can really compare as a currency, since most things are infinitely farmable.
Mojang be working on remodeling structures for a year and this guy just coded an entire update

Before I watch this video, I have a theorem on how Illagers work:
Evokers are the top of the food chain, best of the best, who've learned to conjure spells and use magic. They act as religious figures in Illagerreligion, and are thus given the best clothing.
Vindicators are just a Pillager in a fancy uniform, who use close range weapons due to their profession being in CQC , and/or due to close range nature of combat most of the time in Woodland Mansions not requiring crossbows.
Pillagers are Vindicators in war garb who have access to armor and weapons, and prefer to utilize their Crossbow. Mainly seen outside due to their nature as raiders, they gather resources and slaves, and distribute them to Woodland mansions, who use however much required for their own needs, and in return ship off further resources.
In such a situation, Evokers would be practically wealthy aristocrats who pay off regular Illagers to be their mercenaries, which is why the ones in Woodland mansions have so much money, because they're paid more to protect the Evokers as they are extremely important.
Ravagers are genetic abominations made by magika, likely from Witches and/or Evokers, and act as beasts for the Illagers to use in combat, with their own sense of blind loyalty.
Witches are not Illagers, but instead a hybrid of Illagers and Villagers, likely from cross-breeding, who've isolated themselves due to the stigma of being half-breeds, and work together with Illagers, who care much less about their nature as half-breeds and accept them in exchange for aid, and have thus radicalized most witches to their side.
Illusioners are isolationist nomads who've abandoned the Illager's ways in exchange for a life of isolation and self-sustainability. They've focused so much on training methods and magik, focusing on fields that most Evokers would ignore (being illusion magik which is much less effective in combat), so they may escape from a threat instead of having to deal with it.
Iceolegers are one in the same boat with Illusioners, however they are much more aggressive, and focus on keeping you away from them through use of force, keeping to themselves on mountain tops.
Both of these two nomads will attack you on sight due to the fear you'd do the same to them, as they've cultivated such a reputation to villagers, and have received attacks from so many iron golems and players that they implicitly do not trust anyone.

5:05 Is quite honestly the best part of the entire video
It would look really cool if you implemented a mechanic that when the boss battle progresses it makes the arena look more withered, which can even add more intensity and make a part of history to your world, making it look more diplomatic because you "conquered" a pillager nation. It would also be really cool if villagers had some similar mechanics like what was added to the pillagers.
I’ve seen a ton of people trying to explain or justify why Microsoft is incredibly slow with creating content and updates, yet I firmly believe everyone is missing the forest for the trees.
Under Microsoft, Minecraft is a Live-Service game.
So long as Minecraft is slowly being drip-fed content, it’ll continue to make a profit by retaining customers who want to see new stuff. If the next update were to 100% complete development, the community would dry up in just a few months and eat away Microsoft’s Profits At All Costs system, thus having a ludicrously slow development cycle means the game life can be stretched out for the better part of a literal century.
The way you can do this in 7 days (not discrediting how impressive this is) really doesn’t warm my heart with 1 new mob a year and a new tree from mojang
1.21 update: new boss new dungeon 20+ new blocks 2 new mobs (including the breeze). Fixed bugs made a lot of tweaks. The crafter (revolutionary). Frying table (this was a leak and might not be true). Thats the minecraft updates if you dont like it then just dont play the game its that simple!
