So glad I searched and found this video. I just bought my first piece of dragon fruit at the grocer the other day. Never eaten it and wasn't even sure the name when I purchased it.
Now I know how to save the seed 🤗 thank you!
Simple, to the point , no b.s. . Your patience paid off 😊.
This is a great. Video! There is a lot on UA-cam but yours is the best I have seen. I needed to know what to do after seedlings get big. You went into awesome detail!! Thanks!
Great video! I love how informative yet concise you are. Too many UA-camrs fill up time with intro music and chattering about nothing.
Love this!!!! I visited a dragon fruit farm in Malaysia. They let them hang down from a 3 or 4 ft. high concrete cylinder planter, outside.
You have one of the better description of growing dragon fruit!
Thank you 😉
The way you got the membrane off the yellow seeds was brilliant! I’ve been wiping them back and forth on a paper towel hahaha it takes forever and they end up getting stuck to it! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for your information how to plant dragon seeds, your teaching are the best!

SOOOO time consuming harvesting the seeds lol I listened to UA-cam in the background. The membrane is really sticky too... stuck to everything haha 😂 so excited to start! Thank you for this video girl!

Oh this really helped m3
I didn't even dry the seeds! I simply slice a piece of dragon fruit and covered it lightly with compost and set it in the sun! Maybe God just helped me out!😊
Wow amazing 👍🥰
Nice one
You rock, well done.
Good video.
Cool video 😊
Do you need grow light for the seedlings? Love your video!
Thank you for the video and your great explanation you’re awesome! I wonder if you got any fruit yet?
Great video. Where can I get a wide assortment of different variety seeds to buy for shipping to Florida?
Nice vidéo
2:57 I found an easyer way to get the jel off of the yellow dragon fruit seeds Is to put the seeds in a strainer take it to the sink and spray the seeds for about a minute and after a minute most of the jel will come off of the seeds while your spraying
You can also take the seeds put them in a fine strainer then add some normal building sand to the seeds in the strainer & just rub the seeds with the sand for a little while then lightly rinse with water either from your spray bottle or a slow trickle from the tap & soon your seeds will be mostly free of the pulp.
That’s what I did. I also saw somewhere that you can dry them on a paper towel and then the stuff just crumbles right off. I didn’t know when I would be planting them so I did that after rinsing. It worked really well. I think they must have ALL sprouted and I have a hard time throwing them out!
No-bullshit straight-to-the-point tutorial. Lovely voice too!
I bit the bullet and bought two today when I saw them. Going to try and grow some.
I repotted my dragonfruit today for the first time and got some invisible spikes in my hands. What's the best way to remove them when you can't see them? Or could it be that I just got pricked by a hairy little thorn and not have one stuck in my finger?
I'm seeing this in 2023. Last year I germinated a few different verities and the only ones that will not germinate is the yellow. I'm beginning to think that red stuff that's on the yellow is irritation.
Any thoughts?
Hi, Saw Ur video need your guidance & advise I plan to grow commercially to start with the seedlings and then propagate which brings early fruiting seeds or propagated in how much time ? Regards
The gel on the yellow fruits is like Super Glue!
I have always eaten the pink/white dragon fruits and the pink/pink flesh one until recently I had a chance to try the yellow dragon fruits and I found out personally I love the yellow one better. So, I am trying to grow yellow dragon fruits from seeds and hopefully, they will germinate.
Just bought one today! My son says it’s the best. Haven’t even tried it yet but I’m gonna sprout some seeds! 😁
I'm growing yellow ones as well! Good luck lol
I've only seen the pink / pink type. Where can you buy the yellow ones from?
@@giftofthewild6665 I have gotten them at Whole Foods and at my regular grocery store, Kroger.
@@giftofthewild6665 I got one at sprouts yesterday!
hi may i ask... can i use the seeds of frozen dragon fruit?
Help! My dragon fruit just keeps growing taller and taller and isn't getting any thicker (it's about 3ft tall now, and not much thicker than when it first began to look like a cactus)
Great video. Do the yellow variety and the red outside and white inside look the same as they grow ?
I believe they'll look the same as they're growing, especially the first year or so. But the once the plants get larger and thick, the two varieties will look different.
Hello, when can I put the plant under sunlight? I put a dragon fruit with a new branch under the sun and they wilt, so I had to put them in shade again and water them
Can we plant seed now or waiting for spring better?
subbed
I had the solid red ones in Malaysia. Sweet. The pink and white are not as flavorful. Bland. Never even seen yellow ones!
Where can I buy them in Austin?
HEB and Central Market can have the yellow dragon fruits every once in a while. I usually see them at Asian markets such as 99 Ranch and H-Mart. They’ll have the red-fleshed ones too.
What is the soil mix ( not expensive) you can use for DF plants after 6 months old ?
I use general or 'all purpose' potting soil for my young dragon fruits. I may also add perlite for added drainage.
For my older plants, I add about 1.5 tbsp of general granular fertilizer (or bloom-boosting fertilizer during the fruiting season) every 4-6 weeks.
hi which seeds are best those that float or sink in the water after the flesh comes off ??????? thank you for this video 🎥 take care ya'll 🌈 🌞 TATA4NOW back to the video 📽 👍 📹 😁😷
Sink in the water are the best seeds.
Nice i have a seeds of dragon fruits bec. I want to put my land of 200sqmeter if im go back in phillippines in feb. Im finish my contract hamdillah i hope ok bec. I plan to make garden for all fruit
Do you have to remove the membrane of the seeds? I didn't bother for the pink dragon fruit, will they mould now? 😕
For most dragon fruit seeds, you don’t have to remove the membrane because there isn’t a lot of gel around the seeds. Make sure not to have the soil too wet and provide good air circulation to prevent mold.
But for larger seeds such as the Ecuador Paloras (megalanthus) that I planted, I’d remove the membrane or let the seeds dry out before you plant them.
@@shamrockgirl804 thanks for the quick reply! Ok Will ensure I don't over water my seeds thanks! 😄
Pls help sis,my dragon fruit branches are too tin at the bottom
Hi, but Google saying that from seeds plants give very late fruit and quality of that fruit plants give different types of test and quality.
That's why I thought rich, grains, give same type of products.
Then nursery people saying different and saying buy plants from them, they are grafted plants selling is good.
I have a red one American Beauty! It’s so huge I just trimmed it down, waiting for it calus over so I can plant it.
I am growing seeds but want to grow from cuttings if I can get any...
@@101Queenisis try Facebook marketplace, I found a few cuttings a while back that someone was selling.
Can I grow from seeds that have been dried and left out for weeks? I planted my seeds but they are not growing :(
Yes, you can. They might take a little longer to germinate, but they should grow. I’ve reused soil and had dragon fruit seeds sprout months later in a new container.
Dear i have grown dragon fruit from seeds five month ago but they are still 2 mili.why.? What should i do to make their growth .
don't get hung up on "mold". fruit decomposing is a natural part of plant life cycle and propagation. will not harm your plants at all.
Why is mine so skinny even though I give it enough sun?
Question: Have you ever sprouted seeds in water before planting in soil?
If so, what we’re the differences between that and your method?
Thank you!’
Very helpful ShamrockWorld!! I'm subscribing to your channel. I'll let you know how it goes!
Is it ok not to remove the flesh from the seed?
Removing the gel on the seeds is optional, but removing them will allow the seeds to germinate faster. I remove the gel from the larger Ecuador Palora yellow dragon fruits because of the greater risk of mold or rot if the soil is too wet. I’ve sprouted the tiny seeds with the gel on, and they grew fine.
How long does it take to form a true dragon fruit plant?
They take years to produce fruit from a seed. Maybe 3-5 years I would say
The dragonfruit from food lion are no flavord
when will u remove the cover??
Me watching this video knowing Ingles are selling these babies by the 💩-load and I have a mess to separate on my hands😩bc I bought a cup.
Wanna do this but my mother HATES cacti.
Why dont you seperate them 😃
Okay, why does no one show the final result? Like I’m more curious about how the actual fruit grow FROM the full blown cactus!
It takes many years for a seed-started plant to bear fruit. The seedlings featured in this video are now 4.5 years old (June 2022) and they haven't shown signs of budding. You can also graft a seedling to a mature rootstock, and it might grow faster than a seedling.
But cuttings from mature plants can fruit within 1-2 years, depending on the growing conditions. I bought some cuttings last year (spring 2021) and a few of them are budding right now (June 2022). I plan to post some videos about them soon.
i wonder how they naturally grow from seeds in the wild without human intervention
As they grow, they'll likely use their aerial roots and grab onto tall structures such as trees or telephone poles. Somehow they'll climb up a trellis.
you just dry the seeds in the sun - once dried you plant them - dry in sun with mushed up flesh and it gives the seeds nutrients to grow much better, this video process is a very complicated process.
How often do you water your seedlings?
I usually water my seedlings when their soil gets dry.
Due to the extreme heat in 2023, it's every other day, and the seedlings are in full sun.
we grow dragon fruit plan via seeds ,now plants are 45 days . But their roots turn black and later plants rot (dead).
Any solution ?
Maybe it was over watered? They can take more water than an average cactus but too much can rot the roots
Flesh vs Pulp. Think about it. Is it a fruit or a cactus pear? LOL. 😊
3:20 use a towel to remove the gel from seeds but at 3:56 the gels are still there. :D
I did an experiment with two containers to see if the seeds would spout with or without the gel on. The gel-on seeds took longer to sprout and it needed to be aired out more to avoid mold growth on the soil.
