She suffered, sometimes by surface blemishes. She was stil a teenager when I knew her. Not one makeup artist ever complained about her skin. She had that fresh, glow from a tan, coloring. Gia was probably in love with Sandy whereas Sandy had affection towards her but not at the same level. This was new to Sandy (a lesbian relationship) and Gia was always more extreme. sandy ive read stephen fried's book and in one of his writings. one of the people he interviewed said that gia was a manipulator of people, and she had something beyond what normal pretty girls have. she had something deeper. do you by any chance have any idea what this means? i just assumed by deeper she meant the deeper sadness that gia had inside and that somehow radiated and she caught onto that.
I think she got manipulated and she manipulated back. Some people get hit and turn their face away but some people hit instantly right back. Do you get it? Gia had a lot of drama but she was decisively tough. I actually thought she was stupid. The more i know about her story the more i'm becoming aware that she was a badass no bull kind of girl. I feel to a great extent Gia was actually transgender. She was this boy trapped in a devastatingly gorgeous woman's body. We hear this a lot particularly today with all the hoopla surrounding Bruce Jenner. People are mostly compassionate today. I somehow doubt this was the case in the late 1970's. Imagine the frustration of being in love with straight women and whilst having the male energy not having the parts. Gia obviously dealt with a lot emotionally.

People surmised, assumed, guessed and her therapists in rehab from a clinical perspective stated it was her sexual inclinations towards women that made her so self destructive and other therapists stated it was her sexual confusion that drove her to take drugs. An even earlier therapist, he said his therapy sessions with Gia were quite interesting he said, Gia's desire for women was almost similar to that of a "young brooding male" and he said "Gia LOVED women". It seems like they all talked about her inclinations but was there ever a discussion about how she felt about men? There was something there she was dating/seeing/sleeping with men too and she had some defined or more like undefined versions of relationships with men even if it was just causal s3x or maybe more. But was that ever discussed in therapy as well? I don't know, I don't think so. I do not believe that Gia loved men like she did women but I also think with Gia there was some loathing she had towards her inclinations to women. I also think Gia had two personas one feminine and one masculine (which the latter was obvious). But people saw her touch of masculinity as fashionable and cool when in fact the issue was more serious to Gia than just interesting and marketable to the fashion industry.
