I think he’s using the SA cleanser instead of a leave-on because he’s using a retinol. Derms won’t suggest using a leave-on with retinol on the same night due to irritation so he’s recommending a wash off, which can be used on the same night.
Retinol right under sunscreen? Oof - or only at night? Then are u following that up with facial oil as the last step? I'm still researching retinol and stuff. But personally I stick to double cleanse tone chemical exfoliator (2x a week) moisturise and oils. I don't add serums or essences etc. I'm in my early 20s and follow Dr drays advice for my age group - just keep it simple and take care of ur self. Morning routine is cleanse and moisturise and sunscreen.
I believe it’s because if your face is wet or even damp at all, it increases the affect. When your face is damp it helps the product you’re using absorb better. Normally when you are applying most skincare, you want your face a little damp so the product “sinks in” even more. But retinal is already so strong, if your face is damp at all it will increase the irritation. That’s what I read from another dermatologist a long time ago anyway. Hope that helps.
Yes that’s what I understand from reading and dermatologist. Also if you have extreme irritation you can put your moisturizer on first then your retinoid cream. Helps buffer til your face gets used to it better.
@@cupiedoll9759 Yes! That’s what I actually do. I have extremely sensitive skin so I put my moisturizer on first wait a bit for it to absorb then put the retinol cream on. It helps dramatically with the peeling/irritation you can get from it.

How does the retinoid in SkinBetter compare to tretinoin strength wise and acne-treating wise?
I wish you were my dermatologist 😭 thank you so much for all the tips!

Can coconut oil can be used as a moisturizer?

you can apply a retinoid after cleansing with an active ingredient?
Is it okay to just mix the retinol with the moisturizer instead of putting the latter on top?
What do you think about putting medical tape on face over night for wrinkle prevention?
Love you Doc. thank you for always keeping it real and such awesome helpful videos with demonstration. Love your them. Please don’t stop making them.
Wow you lived in my neighborhood I love mass general that’s where I go to see all my doctors for everything All in one place love it
I thought you had to apply moisturizer on a damp face, I watch Dr Dray's channel and that's what she says. I'm so confused.
Yeah, for normal cream. But for retinol cream, you should apply it when your face is dry.
It’s not that you have to it’s that you can so it can penetrate better. But he’s using a retinoid so it should never be applied on damp skin.
Products with retinoid should never be applied on wet skin.
Okay not him from my city def going to try this skin care now
Why does he leave his skin to dry for 15-30 (!!) minutes before applying retinol?
Why do some derms recommend a salicylic cleanser, when others say it needs to stay on the skin far longer for it to be effective?
I think he’s using the SA cleanser instead of a leave-on because he’s using a retinol. Derms won’t suggest using a leave-on with retinol on the same night due to irritation so he’s recommending a wash off, which can be used on the same night.
Hello can you tell me what is AF-24 or the INCI name

Can I use adapelene gel if I am treating just blackheads
The sa cleanser isn’t bad. I like the one from wishtrend.
How can we buy the skin better retinol? Says we have to have an authorized provider?
From a dermatologist
Don't you use a moisturizer after you wash your face?
Okay... Nice
Can you add the moisturizer first then the retinol?
Yes

@@shaynaloveswiss1 moisturizer can go after or under your retinoid.
Thanks, Doc! :)
Faves uplifting faves!!!
Why retinol on dry skin?
can be too drying!
Water helps aids penetration but in the case of retinoids it can penetrate products too deep too fast and cause more irritation.
@@AlexForemanalxforeman correct! i use the naturium retinoid and made the mistake of putting on wet skin!
