I started a skincare routine at the age of 15 or 16 I do not like my skin Bce I have lots of acne scars and they won’t go away they have been their for months Susan help me plsss lol
Any ideal alternatives to Skin ceuticals discoloration serum, as it is very expensive? Also alternatives to Tretinoin/Retinoids for most sensitive/ delicate skin? My sensitive eye area is darkly pigmented specially the eyelids, would this work?
Me neither! That’s the thing I learned and definitely gonna switch my game up! I’m glad to learn I’m doing something right with using the Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Serum with my retinol!
Yeah mine started at the same age, got really bad and cystic at around 14/15 and I was prescribed Duac gel for it which did help a lot. Then at 18 I went on the pill and had great skin but after trying a couple different contraceptive pills I swore off hormonal birth control when I was around 23 because of the side effects (emotional instability, weight gain etc) and got an non hormonal IUD fitted. That's when my acne made a return, I tried Duac again, it didn't work, but it wasn't too bad so I didnt try anything else until it started getting really bad and cystic again around age 25/26 so at 27 I was prescribed Differin gel. I'm 29 now and it has worked incredibly well for me, however I still get a few hormonal breakouts around when my periods start and end. And that will probably always be the case until menopause lol.
This video was great! Love seeing acne prone skincare routines. I’m personally reactive to some fragrance and definitely break out from mineral oil so I can’t use these products unfortunately. Would love to see an acne prone/hormonal acne/combo/sensitive skincare routine!!
I keep hearing you should wait 5-15 minutes after applying retinol before going in with another product. Now I'm wondering if I'm wasting my retinol because I apply my moisturizer right after instead of waiting.
I to use a gentle wipeoff cleanser, no water.I just wash when I use chemical exfoliator or a mask.when I wash with water my roscea gets worse and dryness. Glad to see a dermatologist do the same!
I'm seriously considering the Skinceuticals serum I'm tired of 3 different droppers(arbutin, tranexamic & kojic acids and niacinamide). One and go, is what I need.
Isn't the micel technology she was mentioning sort of specific to Bioderma? The Garnier Miceller water is just super mild surfactants in water which doesn't do the same thing.. Correct me if i'm wrong!!
Thank you for the routine. It started off great and then the products got too expensive for me but I can look up dupes with the same ingredients right? So thank you anyway

its debatable whether how much potency retinoid looses when top with moisturiser on top immediately. Some doctors say to wait, some say it's fine, some says to use something hydrating underneath to combat irritation prior retinoid stage and some say straight after cleansing on dry face and then wait/or not to wait, moisturiser on top. It really depends on which way they are approaching it for you, one can mean it works best for the drug that way, but one can also mean it works best for you specifically this way.
She said to wait 15 minutes to apply moisturizer, but wouldn't your skin be so dry at that point? I like putting my moisturizer on when my skin is damp.
Same even I started breaking out at like 11 to 12 years but my acne was super bad and I started a proper skincare routine at that age after I went to a dermatologist
@Mixedmakeup I have been on tretion for 3 months, I'm afraid of the summer coming. I know it makes the skin sensitive to getting sun burned how can I avoid this is I work with kids outside? Should I stop tret? Should I invest in powder makeup or spray to reapply over the face? Please tell me what to do!

I wished she said exactly why waiting 15 mins after your retinoid helps. Because usually they say you wait 15 min after your moisturizer, so it's not applied to damp skin 🤔
You wait 15 min after retinoid to give it time to work and absorb into the skin so by the time you go with your moisturizer it's already sank in and you won't dilute it. Also it ensures that you have an even layer of retinoid (with moisturizer you could move it and have it more in one places than in others). My dermatologist told me to wait even 30 min after my retinoid to make sure that it works at its full potential. Generally products need about 30 min to fully absorb into the skin so if you apply one product after another they all somehow mix on the skin. If you are layering hydrating products it's not a problem, however if you layer actives it's better to give them at least few minutes to settle down and form a film on the skin until you move to the next product. Beacuse tretinoin is a very potent presription medication its advice to wait longer to ensure that nothing interferes with it. Hope it helps :)
I’m wondering if this should also be done when using a less potent retinoid like retinaldehyde. I don’t want to be standing there 15 minutes waiting for it to absorb especially since my skin has dried down after a minute or so, but I also don’t want to miss on better results..
@@alyssavanblanckenberg1342 you certainly don’t have to wait 15 minutes before applying over the counter retinoids because they’re way less potent and less irritating. But it’s advised to put any retinoids on dry skin to avoid irritation. Just wait few minutes so your skin is not wet anymore put it on and than wait another few, maybe brush your teeth so it can sink in a little and pat in your moisturizer. If you are used to your retinoid you should be fine with putting it even on dump skin right after cleansing I’ve been waiting 15 minutes after my tretinoin for 3 years but lately I have no time and patience so I just apply moisturizer immediately after and see no difference. But some people claim they do if they wait. You have to try different ways on yourself. Hope it helps 😉
@It's your girl Avy Anonymous yes I have. Unless you want to spend time using multiple cotton pads, the only effective way to rinse off make up and residue is to WASH your face especially if one wears a full face.
@It's your girl Avy Anonymous well she’s (gently) tugging at her skin/eyes , and leaving surfactants on her skin . That’s a make up wipe to me ! 😬 lol but like I said if this works for some people , more power to them !
I liked this video but strange that this lady doesn't think you should wash your skin with water. I understand that gentle is better but water washes off that what instead she left on the skin. Aren't there detergents on the skin? Micellar water and the lotion. This is a slight con for me.
Hi Ola, that’s a great question. This particular product is not meant to be removed with water. It is designed and formulated to be used this way and removes grease, dirt, residue etc very effectively. There are also cleansers I like that are designed to be rinsed off. Just different choices 👍🏻
@@justinekluk1344 I heard it in the video. My opinion is that we shouldn't choose products which we don't wash with water from our face. No doubt! She seems wonderful
No one told me that you’re supposed to wait 15 minutes after applying retinoids product until now. Definitely learned a new thing today.

It’s not popular but can we get something for people with pretty Normal skin but have dehydration and anti aging.
I need to know - does red light therapy help or make melasma worse?
WOuldn't the wiping the cleanser off cause more redness than a barely warm water rinse?
I would think so! Like, just barely tepid water would be better and get that residue off.

Why not wash the cleanser off?
Thanks for your question. This cleanser is designed to be wiped off as demonstrated so it works most effectively and is tolerated best this way.
For me, all together, double cleanse, retinoids, going non-dairy, etc., did not work as well as azelaic acid
When she said: I would describe my own skin type is acne-prone skin
I was like: Wait...what...hold on
I definitely would have to oil cleanse first and then a gentle cleansing product, but I'm confused about how she removed the second cleanse.
The second cleanser is a no-rinse cleanser, so you can remove it with wipes instead of rinsing with water.
