Fall Lawn Care Plan For Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede and St Augustine Lawns

  • I share my fall lawn care plan for bermuda, zoysia, centipede and St. Augustine lawns. I am using a combination of pre and post emergent products to control the weeds. There are still warm season weeds in the lawn such as spurge, chamberbitter, and lespedeza. I am more concerned with the cool season weeds coming such as henbit and poa annua. Timing is important with this application. I would try to get this sprayed before the cool nights hit with lows in 40s. The pre emergent will also need to be watered in. Below are some of the products mentioned in the video.

    Thanks for this, Jason. I’m 67 and have been doing yard work my whole life. One of my first money making job’s as a kid was pushing a lawnmower around the neighborhood, knocking on doors and asking if they wanted their grass cut. I got $3 a yard back in the ‘60s. As a teenager, I got a job working as a greenskeeper on a gold course. As an adult, I’ve been doing my own yard work since my wife and I bought our first house in the early ‘80s. I say all that to say I never knew there were cool season weeds and warm season weeds. I’ve been watching your channel for about a year, and I’ve learned so much. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable, but I found out that I knew very little about turf management. I’m down on the Gulf Coast, so almost everything you do is applicable down here. God bless, and thanks for helping all of us weekend warriors out there.

    Can you do a video on how you mix up your spray in your tank for treating multiple houses in a day? Like the math that goes into it, how to figure up how much area you are treating on multiple houses with one tank mixture, how to figure up how much product goes in. It seams complicated to figure out how to mix all this stuff in one giant tank to treat multiple yards and be able to get it all correct

    Good for warm season grass not for cool season grass, Celero will kill nutsedge, cheaper product is sultrafentrazone will burn it off for a year, I never like Quincloric for crabgrass, Mesotrione works for me. We grow annual bluegrass were I live makes a nice turf surface if you know what your doing takes a lot of labor to do it. I have a golf course.

    Hi...I have been on your website looking for the cheat sheet you mentioned. I am not considering going into the business but want to educate myself for my own lawn so I don't need the pricing, marketing etc. info. The cheat sheet sounded exactly like what I could use along w/ the program you use for zoysia. I didn't see the cheat sheet listed in any of your products. Did you ever include it? Thanks

    Hey Jason, I keep missing the lives due to the heat kicking my butt and going to bed before you start. I get caught up with them usually the following morning before work. I mainly spray fire ants and mosquitoes but I have a decent amount of weed control customers and more wanting to get on the schedule. I am in florence SC and most yards are centipede. I used atrazine and msm this past spring with pretty good results. I plan on using prodiamine and was wondering if you would use a split ap in The fall and spring or just one application in the spring? Also, when it comes to pricing. How do you price yards out? For example someone with half acre lot that wants to get on your program that has normal weeds with possibly small amounts of crab grass? Thanks man and I appreciate the advice and the videos!

    How important is it to "water" it in? I have roughly 50,000 sq ft; since I don't have enough water hoses I would be counting on rain to do that - hit or miss on that one. Does morning dew do anything to help the pretreatments into the soil?
    Would really like your thought.
    Thanks for all the time you spend on putting these videos together.

    • @lawncarelife

      You can wait on rain. I think it's fine as long as it rains within 2 weeks or so. The label might say 10 days. I can remember. Iit might lose effectiveness if it stays there longer than that without rain. Watering in is not urgent

    I respectfully disagree that nutsedge will be going away for the winter. Crabgrass will because it is an annual. Nutsedge however is a perennial that will strengthen its hold over the winter, much like those Bermuda plugs you covered your bare spot with. My experience(40 years) has shown that a late treatment in September of Dismiss/Prosedge combined with Specticle Flo(for winter weeds) greatly reduces the summer emergence.

      1 acre is 43.56 * 1,000 sq ft. So, if the label is 4 oz per acre --> (4 oz/43.56 = 0.092 oz / 1,000 sq ft). Very very small amounts. If doing a 5,000 sq ft area --> 5 * 0.092 = 0.46 oz. Hope that helps.

For the fall application, can I use this on a section of my lawn (5k sqft) that was sodded this past May with zeon zoysia? • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  3 роки тому +1

      It depends on if it is well rooted or not. If it is rooted well, I might apply it at a slightly lower rate. If it's not rooted that well then I would just wait and deal with the weeds later. It might root over the winter which would allow you to apply pre-emergent in February

    • @VMH.
      @VMH. 3 роки тому

      Jason, thanks for your prompt reply. One more question, if I apply pre-emergent in February 2022, would it stop my Bermuda to spread and tack new roots down. I read that pre-emergent not only a root pruner but also stop new roots from tacking down. Have you seen new Bermuda stolons spread and tack on into the soil with pre-emergent like Prodiamine or Dimension 2EW applied? Thanks.

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  3 роки тому +3

      I would apply pre-emergent in February. It possibly might slow down the spread a little but in my opinion it would be worse to have a yard full of crabgrass which can greatly keep your Bermuda from spreading. I have filled in about 3 acres at my own yard all while applying prodiamine. I don't think it has stopped spreading much at all

    • @lawncarelife

      I believe msma works best with hot temperatures. I'm not sure it's going to do well in the fall. Specticle is definitely superior to prodiamine for controlling cool season weeds.
