@@edwinjovel5701 if you have some weeds in the lawn that need killed off then I'd say yes. If you don't have any weeds and just need fertilizer, I'd recommending keeping the scotts WNF for spring and get something that is only fert with no herbicide included.

This is a great question!! And I think the Sunni WNF for St Aug (and zoysia) is a great choice for fall or winter. It depends how far north you are. Hi! I’m looking for help with my Palmetto St Augustine grass. I live in Arizona and with the use of Greeneffect and microgreene together during the summer my lawn has been beautiful. With Arizona “fall/winter” coming I really want my lawn to stay beautiful. I am reading info online about soil temps, when or how often freezes happen in Arizona, and what type of fertilizers to use. Looking on the YardMaster app the calendar suggests what products to use and when. Are these suggestion geared more towards a certain region/climate or is it more of a general recommendation? I am leaning towards purchasing RGS/Humic 12 combo and potassium concentrate. Would this be a good combo to use during the fall/winter and how often. I just fertilized 2 weeks ago With the greeneffect and microgreene. Sorry this is long winded, with so much info on the internet/UA-cam it’s hard to know what would work best for Arizona. Anyway, I enjoy your videos and the content you provide. I am learning a lot and value your opinion. Thank you!
My question is on the lawn program calendar you say to use pre-emergent once in Sep and two times in Oct 2021. I sprayed 13grams per gal of water on my Bermuda. I saw on one of your videos to do this once in the fall.
I'm so selfish.. I was super excited until I saw warm season. It's go time for us cool season people and I was hoping for an overseed or not video. I need to know when to preemerge!
Central Texas still going strong LOL 100 degrees tomorrow :p Cool front coming in Tuesday so we will see high 80s and lows in 60s. Im ready for next year already LOL
Quick question. Recently purchased my home and the lawn is in disrepair. Recently i noticed some blades in my st augustine with a purple/red tint. All the research ive done says its due to cold season stress. However, im located in central Florida and it had been high 80s to low 90s with regular rain storms.
I see it periodically also. I think it comes from the grass having wet feet for too long, but that is just my guess. It will for sure recover once things dry up a bit and you fertilize it.
In MT...been throwing down the micros but no fert for probably 3 months. One place in yard not looking too good despite so threw down the stress blend (recommended by soil test last spring) AND some double dark so looking forward to the next week or two really popping. We had a really hot summer with little rain. Had a 390$ water bill in August 😬

Transition zone season schedules/strategies would be awesome from the one and only LCN. I’ve thrown down RGS. Micro green and Stress Blend. Is it more beneficial and cost effective to DIY lawn care using yard mastery program or just hiring a company to do it?? I’m thinking the start up would cost more (getting the equipment, supplies, material) Also does the app tell you when to apply weed controls, insecticide, fungicide? Allyn! Any ideas on how to transition from Bahia to a different grass? (New to central florida) I am not liking the Bahia sod they put down, and want a better grass. What do you think??
Best to just rent a sod cutter and get it out that way, then sod your new lawn on top . St Aug and Zoysia can easily outperform any stragglers that remain.
I seen several suggestions to apply pre-emergent early fall to prevent weeds next spring/summer…. I did it last year and it didn’t work for my grass “Bermuda and st agustine “… suggestions on what pre emergent to apply now? I’m in Arlington Texas.
First I'd identify what weeds you were facing - because pre-emergents do not stop all weeds, only some. Once you know that then you can go back and see if you need to switch up pre-emergents or just get a stronger post emergent strategy inline for the spring.
@@TheLawnCareNut Dallas/dalis grass and crabgrass that’s the only two I have and I have Bermuda and st agustine grass. I’m in Arlington Texas. Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply to my question.
I’m located in Orlando Fl so still warm temps and forecast shows around 85 degrees with minimal rain for the next 10 days. I still have some Flagship I’d like to finish off…would it be ok to still use flagship for this next application? I have irrigation so plan to still give it plenty of water
Thank you for the video. Quick question please. I have Zoysia grass on my front yard and Centipede in the back and I'm getting invaded by a bunch of mushrooms during this time of the year. I'm located in the transition zone area (NC). I hear it's a good sign I guess, but it just don't look good. Any way to prevent this? Thanks again!
Quick question. I live in the Northeast, Long Island to be exact. The home I am moving into has what I believe is a Zoysia lawn at least 80% of it is. I’d like to know what I can do to prepare the lawn for winter and possibly spring this fall. This is my parents home so I can tell you will absolute certainty this lawn has never been fertilized, treated for weeds, de-thatched, aerated or even watered. Despite all this neglect it actually looks pretty good. Yes some nuisance weeds but it seems the Zoysia has been doing a pretty good job at keeping the weeds to a minimum. I started mowing this past season myself and allowing it to grow to 2.5-3” which I feel is open reason it has maintained its color and is fighting off the weeds. Once I move in this fall, I’d like to take it to the next level. Even though its only 75-80% Zoysia I’d like to treat it as if it were 100% in hope that one day it will get there. Any tips and tricks will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.
First off, that surely is a VERY long island because I have talked to a lot of folks there over the years. I have also talked to quite a few who have zoysia. My assumption is that it was advertised in the Parade Magazine back in the 80s and 90s and started by plugs. That's why you are seeing it spread now to 80-90%. There are a lot of lawns outside of Chicago that have this same thing going on. Anyway, what is going to happen is the strengths of zoysia will continue to reveal themselves - once you start feeding it, it will get so strong it will destroy even more of the weeds all on its own. It will thicken up greatly. The challenge is that it's probably not going to green up until May when everyone else around you greens up in late March. You will still want to apply pre-emergent in spring when soil temps cross 55F, even if the zoysia is dormant. I'd use Celsius as my primary weed control if it's allowed in your state. Fert every 4 weeks starting as soon as it greens up in spring.
@@TheLawnCareNut a further question of I may? What would you recommend for a final seasonal mowing height for fall / winter? Would you recommend de-thatching in the fall or spring? Is it possible to find pre-emergent and or fertilizer over the counter that might work for spring? Any recommendations for winter applications. I appreciate your response.
Hi we are new to watching your channel and my wife and I have a question... in a video we saw you using a 3 in 1 lawn weed and feed. Now does that help new grass grow or do we need to have grass seed too? And in what order and waiting periods between if needed. Thanks, Deepa and Jared(and little Daxton too).
Allyn, just purchased your backpack sprayer and am looking forward to using it. Quick question: my bermuda sod (55 pallets) is going to be installed in a couple of weeks, at my new house (soil test shows 7.8 PH). I am going to spray the GreenePop on the soil before the sod is laid, and then RGS after it's laid. I know I can't put any preemergent on it, I just wondered if there was anything I could do, Fall fungicides, etc., to assist in a quick response for next Spring. Thanks!
Your pH is a little high so I would for sure start working on that once the sod is rooted. Your coming to the end of the season so also make a plan to continue moving the pH starting in the spring.
Bought this house recently & has St Augustine. Yard looks great! Question is, is that is it safe to apply pre-emergent & a month later apply fertilizer with higher potassium before it goes dormant?
I love the vids !! Watch them all right away! I live in Ny and overseeded 11 days ago . I cut the yard short ,but still my existing lawn is like 6 inches tall and the new bluegrass is 1. Can I mow this weekend? (6 days from now ) and just cut high ? Or do I need to wait ? Ik this is a warm season grass channel but I think this is the same concept
if it's that out of control I would bag the clippings, but yes you for sure can mow - just don't dance on it - get out there and get it done and get off it.
Any plans for Yard Mastery to offer fertilizer that covers 5000 sqft? I don’t have a big lawn or a lot of storage to keep those big bags laying around. For now I go with Jonathan Green for fertilizer.
I've been looking at it and pricing it out. Chances are we can make it work so I hope to release at least one one of the line for spring and add a second later.
My yard is so out of control I have no idea where to start. It is mostly St. Augustine but there are several other types mixed in here and there and the weeds are just hanging on for dear life(theirs) Central gulf coast of Florida area
I'm in bradenton - right now is a great time to get moving as we are coming out of our Nitrogen ban. The video coming this weekend will be helpful for you
Im in Louisiana, what do i need to do with my St. Augustine right now. I do have other BS weeds and grass in there I need to get those out and start getting it right for next year.
I would use Celsius weed control right now to kill the weeds. thelawncarenut.com/products/celsius-wg this link is to a simple drop in for 2 gallons of spray mix. Includes surfactant and everything right in the little pack. For fert I recommend you apply this since we are a little late in the season, this will be a really good winterizer and includes some bio-stimulants for rooting and soil health thelawncarenut.com/products/warm-season-winterizer-pack
I had Flu take me out for 2 weeks and the worst part (other than feeling like I was gonna die) is now my yard looks like a damn jungle. Nearly better enough to mow it...
I'll be making content all through the winter but for now, the 7-0-20 Stress Blend is a good choice or if you have been on a nitrogen ban like me, I'm going Flagship right out of the gates.
I live in Columbia, SC and have Zeon Zoysia. I put out LESCO 0-0-7 pre emergent Sept. 15. Have problems (specifically) in wet area every year with POA annua. Any suggestions on prevent for this?
Thank you Allyn for the great content. Would like to know should I apply pre emergent if I have some bare spots for my Bermuda lawn? Will the PreE stop the Bermuda from growing back into the bare spot? Thanks.
Apply PreE on every part of your turf where you don't want any weeds to grow back, especially in bare spots. The PreE will not stop your Bermuda from growing or spreading into the bare spots. It'll only stop the weeds which will allow the Bermuda's runners to move in without interference.
Yes man I’m in Augusta too w Bermuda. Poa annua is the worst. I just did barricade DG 2 weeks ago but I’m scared that big rain we had recently washed much of it, so I just put down a liquid dimension app, wil probably repeat the dimension in early-mid December. If you have Any wisdom to share let me know!
Quick question. I throwed down some Flagship fertilizer last week. I don't know if that was a good call or not been so close to the fall. How long do I have to wait to throw down some Stress Blend Fertilizer? I'm on the southeast Houston area
Thank you for all the great information and taking the time to share with all of us. Quick question, what would you suggest for products on lawns with a well? I'd love to bring our new house's lawn back from the 'dead' but am concerned with the possible issues with leaching into the well. We don't drink the water as we have a dispenser but we still would like to be sure before moving on a lawn plan.
Hey Al, or anyone that can answer this. I just purchased Prostar 70 WG for my FL St. Aug that I have been having a persistent brown patch/large patch problem. My question is and I have read the label numerous times and contacted Do My Own as well; is this a foliar spray (if so do I need to use a surfactant?) or do I need to get it watered into the soil after application? Thanks everyone.
How many subs do we need to get you for you to move to a place without fert blackout haha. Thanks for the video I’ve been looking forward to this one for a wile. Alabama Bermuda.

I've found straight dithiopyr at Lowes in Florida. It's hit or miss. Just look for active ingredients either prodiamine or dithiopyr and go to HD, Lowes and also local garden centers. One of them will probably have something if you look on the back shelves.
My yard needs help! I live in Northern Florida with St. Augustine grass. I used a Scotts weed-n-feed last Fall and in the Spring. However, over the summer my front yard has been overtaken sedge (?) and brown patches. My backyard has moles and dollar weed. We've had tons of rain. What should I do now?
@@TheLawnCareNut Thanks! I applied some herbicide on the dollar weed which help a little and fungicide on the brown patch with no noticeable improvement. Pictures sent
Just my opinion here but I would do pre emergents now and then again in like early Dec, and again in Feb-March (depending on your product). Just let the crabgrass die in the cold, too much effort to physically remove and spraying may kill it but the grass might not spread to cover the spots in time. If you have post emergent it would be best to use that when they are young and coming up early in the growing season, though hopefully with the pre emergent that would be minimal
You can but you need to he watering for sure ahead of the app. Also, if all the other lawns and yours has.not, then you may have a bigger problem to deal with.

I'm jonesing for a Halloween video this year!
What’s the best way to combine a fertilizer and other product (lime, pre-emergent, milky spore, etc) in the same hopper? Can it be done to save time?
For Orlando, should I apply 24-0-6 Flagship Fertilizer or 7-0-20 Stress Blend Now? Thank you!
I have a ST. Augustine Floratam
South Florida summer okay to spray liquid iron in November?
Definitely get the app. Very helpful.
Thanks Randy 👍
Hi we are new to watching your channel and my wife and I have a question... in a video we saw you using a 3 in 1 lawn weed and feed. Now does that help new grass grow or do we need to have grass seed too? And in what order and waiting periods between if needed. Thanks, Deepa and Jared(and little Daxton too).
This rain keeping my grass green
Good video/info AL
thanks bro!!
How the heck did a miss I lawn care meme contest!!
Yes if you follow my plan you can do them pretty much at the same time if you want or spread them out. it's up to you.
Glad you are back on the topside!
I live in south Florida any suggestions on fertilizer for the fall? Any specific schedule?
I'll be making content all through the winter but for now, the 7-0-20 Stress Blend is a good choice or if you have been on a nitrogen ban like me, I'm going Flagship right out of the gates.
Great info!
Should I treat carpet grass like centipede grass?
I'm interested in fall and winter care for Bermuda. Texas
Awesome content!!
thank you!
So the fungicides hurt the mycorrhizae?
@The Lawn Care Nut, will either of these pre-emergent prevent Virginia buttonweed? I have been fighting this all summer this year here in south Texas
Pre emergent will not kill VB. Try Celsius as Post emergent. It should work after 1 or 2 applications.
@@oliver.79 Would it be better for me to start using this next season?
No. I would start now anyway. VB is a tough weed to treat. The winter will not kill it in South TX.
I live in Columbia, SC and have Zeon Zoysia. I put out LESCO 0-0-7 pre emergent Sept. 15.
Have problems (specifically) in wet area every year with POA annua.
Any suggestions on prevent for this?
Do you still have zoysia? How and when should I level it
Thank you Allyn for the great content.
Definitely apply pre-emergent! The bermuda might feel a little bit but it will grow and you dont want the weeds to compete with your bermuda.
Question for anyone should you mow cool grass shorter in the fall and bag or mulch?
Bag only if it clumps
Sorry one more question… do you mow it shorter or keep it same length through out the summer???
What can you do to grow grass again I put too much weed control.
I sprayed round up on my yard and the grass are no growing again! HELLLLLP
I’m in Augusta Ga and I throw down Pre-Emergent on Sep.1 and again split apps on Halloween to prevent the poa it’s a monster for me!!!!!
@@Chyllbacca no apply again on Halloween in this area not December!!!!! Barricade pre-emergent
@@KDubb107 okay I’ll try it, thanks
I ended up putting barricade down again today because the temps are about to drop here. So did it a bit earlier but we’ll see how it goes
Should I use prodiamine and dithiopyr ? Or one or the other located in Dallas texas
just choose one or the other. They both work the same.
Quick question. I throwed down some Flagship fertilizer last week. I don't know if that was a good call or not been so close to the fall. How long do I have to wait to throw down some Stress Blend Fertilizer? I'm on the southeast Houston area
Wait a good 5 weeks. Then stress blend.
Here in Broward county fertilizer ban June 1 / September 30
only 8 more days.
I like the app its very helpful
Thank you!
Thanks everyone.
apply it and let it dry. You can water the day after 1/2" - no surfactant or anything like that needed.
@@TheLawnCareNut Awesome, thank you sir!
How many subs do we need to get you for you to move to a place without fert blackout haha. Thanks for the video I’ve been looking forward to this one for a wile. Alabama Bermuda.
I love it here so much - I will never leave. Maybe one day I'll get some land inland where there are not restrictions and then I can still throw down.

how to control weeds and cover in Bradenton FL
I'm still using Celsius since it is getting over 90 each afternoon. Just have to stay on top of it with all this rain.
Do you put down Pre E in the spring on Bermuta? I have been putting it down in the fall and not having Poa in the winter but last spring I fought it everywhere?
I started buying my lawn products from you. It seems they are a better value than what I was buying.
Any suggestions for pre-emergent found on big box stores that actually works for Bermuda and st agustine?
I've found straight dithiopyr at Lowes in Florida. It's hit or miss. Just look for active ingredients either prodiamine or dithiopyr and go to HD, Lowes and also local garden centers. One of them will probably have something if you look on the back shelves.
I'm cool season bout to do my annual fall scalp from summer 3-4in cut down to 1.5-2 in. Then Slap,Slap,Slap it in the face with Fert
Sounds like fun !
Send me pics. Closeup and far back allyn@thelawncarenut.com
@@TheLawnCareNut Thanks! I applied some herbicide on the dollar weed which help a little and fungicide on the brown patch with no noticeable improvement. Pictures sent
Can I overseed Bahia now? Or should I wait u til spring comes? Thank you sir!
Best to overseed Bahia in very early summer.
@@TheLawnCareNut thank you!
What should I do about crabgrass. I’m in South Carolina.
How do I know what type of Grass my lawn is 🤔😀 I am In Toronto Canada
For sure you have cool season grass. That's really all you need to know to move forward!
Can I roll with the AIR8 and Spoon Juice combo for St. Aug in Texas?
Yep sure can.
Can I apply Air8 even if my grass is still dormant from the summer draught we had hear in the PNW
You can but you need to he watering for sure ahead of the app. Also, if all the other lawns and yours has.not, then you may have a bigger problem to deal with.
Is there any way they even enforce fertilizer bans? I don't think the local government drives around looking and testing your fertilizer.
I just follow the rules. Like stop signs. I could run those too and never get caught but I don't.
What was the other/new chemical for your bulletproof strategy?
I was using Clearys3336 in the spring against gray leaf spot.
@@TheLawnCareNut Thank you
Question, can i put pre emergint on my st aug sod i installed this spring? Wanted to do a fall and spring split treatment. Glandular & spray. Thanks
you should be fine since we have come through this rainy season, I'm sure your roots are really well established and you'll be good.
My Montana yard has dozens of mushrooms. Should I be concerned?
It indicates organic matter in the soil which is good. Just mow like normal til they go away.
