R/T Life it's a super simple process. If I hadn't been filming, even with cutting and sanding the cover to fit, it would have only been about a 30 minute job. Thanks for taking a look.
Good vid. I put a catch can on my 14' R/T, and I'm glad I did. I just needed to pay extra, and get the correct hoses for the catch can, with the proper fittings. The hoses I used are coolant hoses I found laying around, and their now oily. I also used small hose clamps. Those hoses you got are the same ones I ordered just now, and should fit way better.
D's Mobile Wash & Detail I found out after making this video that the oil in the air box might have been coming from sloppy oil changes. Since that secondary vent tube is connected to the oil fill tube, oil can get in there if the person changing your oil fills it too fast and the oil backs up to the level of the vent tube. It runs through the tube and into your air box and on your filter. I’ve since plugged the tube hole in the air box and have run a breather filter on the end of that secondary vent tube. I might make another video on that. Glad you found this video useful.
Whoa Weezy thanks. I really need to make some more videos. Upgrading my brakes to drilled and slotted rotors as soon as the weather warms up and I might post that.
Mike Marshall awsome i have some on mine i ordered from amazon im working on doing me a custom catback exhaust with the borla xs pro 2.5 inlet/outlet offset/offset mufflers from ebay looking to replace the mid and resornators with them
Whoa Weezy I looked at doing a Borla or Corsa cat-back but they just want so much money for it. I went with just taking out the mids for $150 first. I’ve been real happy with the way it sounds but it’s not for everyone. Borla makes a real nice exhaust. If you go that route, you can always replace the fake tips Dodge puts on there and get some of nicer ones Borla makes.
I could just replace the mids and be done I have seen a lot of set ups done that way. but I just saw a few days ago that the stock piping is 2.25 including the x pipe. the mufflers are 2.5 the air flow coming through the tubes isn't going to be the same consistent flow upon entering/exiting the mufflers like if everything was the same tubing size. So I ordered a 2.5 inlet/outlet x pipe from Jegs also to match the muffler flow so I'm working on the tubing portion now measuring angles etc. Also ordered unbranded quad tips 2.5 inlet/3.5 outlet
Wow Good job . You made it look easy. I will install my this summer . thanks for the info. One question , what's the name of the company that made that oil catch can Sign NYC.
Billet Technology is the name of the company. The base version is about $100. You can upgrade the finish, bracket, hoses and fittings if you want and you’ll still be under $200. They make every part to order though so it takes a few weeks to get.
2AverageNoobs there is another vent hose on the drivers side of the crankcase that feeds directly into the air box. I would assume that as the oil/gas vapors are being recycled through the intake from the pcv system, some would collect in this hose and drain into the air box. I’m not entirely sure how that vent hose works in the system so it’s hard to say but since I’ve installed the catch can, no oil in the air box.
www.custombilletstore.net/Default.asp Billet Technology. That’s the link to their website. Put all the info in for your make/model/engine and they custom make the one you need in the color you want. Be prepared to wait a few weeks to get it unless you want the bare aluminum. Those are the only ones they ship immediately. I have a 2022 Scat Pack now and bought one for it immediately. It’s a great product.
That soaked air filter can come from filling your engine too quickly with oil. I'm at 4200 miles with a dang near clean engine air filter. It has happened before and that's what my mechanic told me.
Awesome install man! I have a 13 charger R/T Road and Track! I have been looking for good videos about the catch can with our gen chargers. Any other mods?
Mopar//Mike 570 Thanks! I noticed a lack of good videos on the 11-14’s when I wanted to get mine so I made one as detailed as I could without taking 20 minutes. I’ve only done mostly visual mods. Changed some badges, blacked out the DODGE in the taillight, red caliper covers. I do have a K&N drop in high flow air filter and took out the mid mufflers but that’s about the only other engine/performance mods. I have a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty on it so I have to be careful with performance mods. FCA is famous for trying to void warranties due to mods.
Daniil Nepo No, it’s a long term maintenance device. Without it, the direct injection engine will eventually end up with a massive amount of sludge on the intake valves.
Mike Marshall the 5.7 Hemi isn’t direct injection though. It’s port fuel injected. From what I’ve been told by my mechanic, catch cans aren’t really necessary unless you drive a DI car. They might help your air filter last longer, but you’re not really going to prevent a ton of carbon build up in the intake runners or valve backs because the fuel passing through there cleans them.
Who Run Bartertown? The 5.7 is notorious for blowby. Whether it’s direct injection or not is irrelevant. There’s a massive amount of sludge being put back through that engine without a catch can. Mine is about half full with every oil change since I installed it. Regardless of the fuel delivery, I don’t want that crap circulating back through the system if I can easily remove it.
Zak Fuji as for the function of the catch can, no. You can put the hoses either way you want. I just went for the cleanest look possible and didn’t want to cross the hoses. One hose is longer than the other though so you’ll need to put the longer one on the back part of the crankcase or it won’t reach the catch can.
Doesn't look like a terrible install at all! Nice job man, very easy to follow along.

Hey mike, you can email your photo to r0ry22@aol.com. Let me know when you read this so I can delete the comment - thanks man!

Nice install! I think these are a really big help with the longevity of the engine. I hit the red button too!
Build it R/T thanks! I’ll be checking out your channel too.
Thanks so much for this vid... nicely produced and informative 👌
This is awesome. Thanks for the vid, I just did mine and my filter looked exactly like yours.

I’d love to see that too. Thanks for the heads up.
I subscribed to your channel looking forward to see your work and enjoying your hemi

Charles J Billet Technology
Good job on your install but you never said which side was inner or outer
Looks great i need one for my 2014 charger rt were did u get it from and how much was it?

Question tho, how does oil get into the air intake box..?

Where did you get the catch can from

Did you have any problems with the hoses not being held in there real tight? Do they pop off while driving or any issues like that?
Nick Boomin nope. It’s been on there for a little over three years and not a single problem.
Thank man. Good tutorial. Wa struggling to find one

Mopar//Mike 570 I’ll be sure to check out your videos too. Saw your car in the thumbnails. Looks nice.
Mike Marshall Definitely man it's pretty hard to find good active channels who still have and still love the 11-14's I know I do!!!
Do you knw what size are those brass fittings plz respond?
eddie king not sure of the exact size. I also checked Billet Technology’s website and it didn’t say either.
Whats part number?
Is that the standard bracket?
THERIPPER216 yes
Mike Marshall ok thank you
Does it increases any HP ?

Does it really matter which hose goes where?
