for the cam issues.... most of the time it's lack of oil amount. the cam sits high. in my 09 charger i need 7 qts of oil. if i put 5 qts in i'll destroy the lifters and then the cam goes.

Markie Depends on what your plan for it is man, Both the Stock 5.7 and SRT8 are solid platforms in my opinion, both have plus and minuses, a lot depends on what you want to do with the car.

I did the 91 octane tune on my 2018 Dodge Charger 5.7 and it’s great but it has the coolant fan running on high all the time, it’s really annoying. Anyone know what I could do to fix this?
Did the fan only turn on after you did the tune? I would check coolant temps when the fan turns on to make sure you’re not running hot. Otherwise maybe it was a setting that turns the fan on at a lower temperature
@@apprenticeautomotive yeah, it’s strictly the tune that turns the fan on after a couple mins of driving or idling, my guess is it might have lowered the temp at which the fans kick on for some reason but I’m not sure
He had to replace is Cam and Lifters, it ran him about $1500 with installation. He knew a guy that gave him a good price on the install so unless you can do it yourself it will be around that price.

Well if you’re tuning because of something specific like a Cam shaft, it is best to get a custom tune to make sure your car is performing to the best of its ability and to insure there is no hiccups. However, if your car is stock, starting with a 93 Diablo tune is good and there are options for custom tuning later.
All 2015 and newer Chargers have locked PCM's and require an unlocked PCM in order to do any tuning at all. I have a 2016 5.7 that holds it's own against 392's, Diablosport sells a PCM swap and tuner set for around a grand.

Yes you can, there is a lot of things you can do with it. In our newest video, we roll race a stock RT vs a 93 Diablo tuned RT. You can check the results out for yourself but it was a pretty noticeable difference. I would personally say it is worth it!
Nick hasn’t went too in-depth with the tuner yet, but you can always get a custom emailed tune that can adjust pretty much whatever you want. You can record data logs to see exactly what your car is doing and send it to a shop to get whatever you want adjusted.
I got the i3 tuner yesterday on my 13 charger rt and I didn’t feel a noticeable difference after installation and I re raced my bro who has a 2010 camaro ss and the race ended the same as before the tune

All Hemi motors will get it eventually, it all depends on the particular motor. Some will get it sooner than others for different reasons. As far as I am aware, idle time won’t effect it. Just make sure your engine oil levels are good.
Not really any preventing it. Its all about fixing it the right way once it does happen. Get a NON-MDS rebuild kit, to remove that dumbass 4 cylinder mode. Thats what kills it. Lack of oil pressure. Idling/highway use. Crazy how with these motors, its really a run it hard or kill it kind of thing. I've heard if you run it in slap-shift mode it'll prevent the 4 cylinder mode though.
My 08 Charger rt has a 145000 miles and no tick. I run only 93 octane with Lucas oil injector and fuel treatment on every fill up. Also I add Lucas oil stabilizer to my oil. My 5.7 hemi just purrs. ABSOLUTELY NO TICK

At the time it was just straight piped with a CAI. Long tube headers would be sick!

That isn't "the HEMI tick", that's a destroyed camshaft! The HEMI tick is a combination of fuel injector and valve snapping closed.
The hemi tick is also lifter failure, as a result slapping into the cam shaft. The hemi tick is actually anything wrong with the motor apparently.

You don’t have to let the gas run out like we did, you can just let it get down decently low and then put 93 in

Octane boost isn't as good as higher octane gas. Sometimes it can cause issues.

well for starters the owners manual says 89 fuel not 87 🤣

I think it depends what year car you have. If you car is 2014 and under your ECU is already unlocked but 2015 and up is locked from what I’ve heard.

I find that driving the rest of my fuel is the funnest way to empty the tank
you know if a cam lobe gets sheered off a camshaft there's gonna be all sorts of big metal shavings messing up the engine
