Hello George, are you able to post the kind of adjustable screw and lever that you used. I'm following your same process but having trouble how to build the panel holder part, thank you.
Great video, any chance you can post the exact type of friction lid support and also the circular screw that you can slide up and down in the comments, I'm not sure what to search for, thank you!
This is great, I'll check out your channel for more ideas. I love making things for painting and I've been thinking about making a new box, I have a little cheap cigar box that I can connect to my tripod and have just started using it, so now I can decide what I'd like different (size etc).
Sadly that circular screw mount will eventually pull out. Better to use a "T nut" mounted from the inside so the pressure is from the opposite side of the of the panel and not able to pull through. Other than that , nice job. Cheers Norm
Your right, I've actually replaced it now with a SmallRig cheese plate which I've drilled into the bottom of the box. I'm going to uploading a new video soon where I show the improvements that I've made since
@@GeorgeFrederickThomas So you got a couple of 1/4 inch screws drill them to attach it to the box and then the thread from tripod goes into one of the free holes? How did it work out?
Thank you so much for creating this video. May I ask what kind of hinge are you using on the side of the box. I am assuming that keeps it steady when you apply pressure when painting. I found a box at home that I think might work, but it needs that side hinge. Is there a name for that hinge? Thank you!
I'm happy you enjoyed the video! I found those on eBay but I can't find the same ones, these look quite similar, although I'm not sure if they could be added to the outside of the box: images.app.goo.gl/oSL2EJykVftSnjTQA I hope this helps :)

Thanks I'm very happy you found the video helpful! Getting the tripod thread and a good tripod is tricky. I'm actually not very happy with the tripod I used so I'm going to get a different one but it still worked. Good luck with making your pochade box :)
Awesome. I made something similar from an old cigar box 2 years ago. Whole thing, thrift store tripod included was under 50,- of material. I'm curious what you use as a pannel carrier.
Thanks, that's cool! It was very satisfying to build especially as most plein air boxes are quite expensive. I've made my own lightweight wet panel carrier. Here's the video of me building it ua-cam.com/video/qzd5mRFBxIY/v-deo.html
Great video:)! can you tell me where can i buy the:" circular indent"? that's its name? the small part where i need to put the plate from the tripod?:) Best regards

Same here! That would be great to know.

whats that screw you use to hold the painting in place calles?

Does that palette absorb any of the oil from the paint?
I varnished the the palette with a wood varnish so the wood doesn't absorb the any of the oil
