Good job bro keep the good work
@@Breaker-gq thanks bro :)
Great video, any chance you can post the exact type of friction lid support and also the circular screw that you can slide up and down in the comments, I'm not sure what to search for, thank you!
@@guntom22 thanks I'm happy you enjoyed the video! It's a sliding friction hinge, I found mine on eBay
Brilliant George, thanks very much, Karen in Cambridge

How I would love to take a class from you! Very informative!!Thank you!
@@celiaerickson4443 thanks! I'm happy it was helpful :)
that’s so cool you could go to the same spot as Turner! walking in the footsteps of the masters. well done!
@@randominternetuser2 thanks! It was really cool to paint in the same place he did over 200 years ago!
I love your work. Maybe I missed it but is there a glass in the frame?
@@54tirza thanks! There's no glass in the frame as it's an oil painting so glass isn't needed
@@GeorgeFrederickThomas thnx for your quick answer. I think its also more beautiful.
This is amazing!! Thank you. Also, LOVED your painting of Parque Lage :)
@@AlexisLopes-m7q thanks! :)
Thanks! Great design! I made a similar design using your idea. I took 3/4" thick wood pieces about 4" wide and ran them through a table saw cutting about 1/4-3/8" deep grooves that fit my boards. Then I just tacked on a couple 3" long wood pieces to make a corner on each. I made mine extra tough because I like large plein air panels--20x24" or sometimes 16x20". That 20" mark works for either of them. I also attached a rope handle so I can carry it like a messenger bag. I just need a bungee now and I'm set! Currently I'm using rope to secure the panels together And it works ok. Thanks again!
@@phillipschmidtpottery that sounds great! I'm glad my video helped!
Great work George , nice to see you out enjoying this late lovely weather
Thanks :) I'm trying to make the most of it before the winter arrives

I could have watched a lot more of that. Do you make longer videos? I don't think anyone is likely to get bored by watching you!

I can tell you were nervous and stressed. I've been to another artists first solo exhibition and she was barely able to speak during her first speech on the opening of exhibition. This thing must mean so much to you, and probably every artist. I don't know how i will act if i get my first exhibition in future (i hope it will happen one day) but i think (judging by some scenes in this video) you handled it pretty well. What an amazing place to have your first exhibition. Was is exhausting? I'm asking because im an introvert, and it would be amazing to tell people about paintings but after that.. the social part seems extremely tiring. How long did you stay in there? It's interesting, this social part of exhibitions, like how to act :D stay in one place and wait for people to approach you, or walk around. Maybe it sounds funny what im writing but yea.. its interesting for me.
@@Michal_Kuras it was definitely quite tiring it's not everyday that I have that many people wanting to talk to me or have to speak in front of a crowd! A lot of planning and preparation went into everything and it was definitely stressful but very rewarding at the same time! I think the private view was about 3-4 hours long and I was there for the whole thing as well as being at the exhibition everyday that it was on which was one week. I would recommend trying to walk around and speak to as many people as you can as it's a really good opportunity to make sales of your art and if you just stay in one place you might get stuck just talking to one person for the whole night. Hope your first exhibition goes well for you when it happens!
@@GeorgeFrederickThomas Thanks for nice explanation. Thank you.
Very nice. It would be nice to see a similar process of framing a canvass, instead of panel. As im not using panels and looking for a way to frame my works its a topic im gonna find the info sooner or later :D It would be great to frame my own works, instead of relying on someone else.
Great informational video. I also take several photos of the art for my records.
@@karennoble3795 thanks! That's a good thing to do!
Thank you so much for this lessons and demonstration . Very useful.
Thanks I'm happy it was useful :)
Looks like a new version of impressionistic sunset painting 🎉
Thanks! 😁
Love to watch you painting outside!❤ Hope one day I can do the same 🙏
Thanks! It's my favorite way to paint, especially when the weather is nice. You should give it a try I hope you enjoy it :)
@@GeorgeFrederickThomas Thanks 🙏
A great painting. How long were you working on it from start to finish?
Thanks! I spent about 5 hours on this one. I painted for 3 hours one day then went back and spent about 2 hours the next day to finish it
Fun! Love it!❤
Thanks! 😁
Excellent work George , wish I could get paint on top of wet paint like you do
@@retiredpainter259 thanks! It's a lot about the direction of the brush strokes I find. If the paint is applied on top in one direction and the brush is lifted off the canvas at the end for the brush stroke it mixes less with the paint underneath :)
Thanks for the tips 🙏
Thanks. So helpful
@@BrendaApt I'm happy to hear that. Thanks :)
Brilliant video, thank you George!
Thanks 😁
holy shit! :D i saw your video link (and ofc painting) on plein air painters group and i thought: ha! a fellow plein air painter who records his plein air trips, probably some small channel like mine. And then i saw 11k subscribers haha. Nice. Kudos. and a rly nice painting in this video.

Greatly appreciated George your inspirational video and explaining clearly how and why you do it, I enjoy the whole process used in creating a true to life detail depth and colours. Thanks for sharing your image of a scene not far to where we live, thanks again stay safe and healthy
@@philipdown3147 thanks :) I'm happy you enjoyed the video! It was a beautiful place to paint and I was lucky with the weather! Stay safe and healthy too!
Thank you for a great tutorial. Love the setting and how you captured it.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a really beautiful and enjoyable place to paint :)
I can't believe you put the bow in the centre where the string is. Right where the hook would attach and you can't slide it to get it hanging straight. But the info was great.Thabks.
@@glendamclachlan2537 you're right it's best not to tie the knot in the middle. I've actually changed the way I tie the string. This is a video of how it tie it now: ua-cam.com/users/shorts8UjN9sRg4TM?si=1kzX6UYnbTW6QUcA
what mediums do you use?
I use mostly sansdor which is a low odor solvent about 80% and about 20% refined linseed oil mixed together. If I'm painting over a longer period of time I will gradually add a bit more linseed oil to the medium
Battersea is my favorite place, but I want to back to Richmond hill, really lovely spaces ❤
Very beautiful sky, water, excellent seascape!
@@anastasiazueva8538 thank you 😊
I visited London few times, but never painted there. Actually, I've done two plein air paintings in my life and both were... not worth mentioning🤣 My nearest city is Bath. Loaded with beautiful buildings, parks and... painters😊
@@pablo_p_art Bath is a beautiful city I've been there a few times but never painted there. It's definitely somewhere I like to paint! 😊
I love Battersea Park, that’s my favorite park in London ❤
@@fiama_xoxo4236 it's a beautiful park! 😊
I was a tourist there in 2022. I stayed at Tower Hotel and did a night gouache painting of Tower Bridge from my room. It was an easy option that I could work on while winding down in the evening. I would love to come back to London and hit your recommendations in oils
@@ragoodvin44 That sounds great! I did get very cold painting Tower Bridge at night so painting it from your hotel is a nice idea! I'm glad you liked my recommendations! Hopefully you'll get the chance to come back paint them soon 🎨

Any tips for acrylic? I was so disappointed when my efforts dried and completely changed colour!
You could try a varnish for acrylic paint sometimes it can bring back the paint to colour that it was when it was wet. Also perhaps it could be the brand of paint your using as some are known to change a bit overtime especially if the painting is in sunlight
Thank you for this video. Your instruction is clear to follow and your manner makes it pleasant to watch you paint. Happy belated birthday!
