  • In this video today, we look at how to split your screen using Windows 10. This is demonstrated using a Windows keyboard and associated shortcut keys. The split screen function is a great little feature to assist multitasking and productivity. It uses the snap assist feature (Windows snapping), which was introduced in Windows 7. This video shows you exactly how to set up and use the split screen function on your PC, computer or laptop.
The snap assist feature, as shown in this video, allows you to split your screen into two different windows/sections - vertically, as demonstrated. Despite being introduced in Windows 7, there are still a lot of people who don't know that it exists.
The split screen function helps you to organise your screen in a more effective way and is especially useful if you've only got one monitor. It's very useful when comparing data and much more. Plus you don't waste time trying to resize or reposition windows as the built in snap assist feature does this for you automatically.
Should you want to split your screen into 4 windows on one screen (using your mouse), I have produced a dedicated video on this - • How to Split your Scre...
FIRSTLY, for the snap assist feature to work, ensure that it is enabled on your computer, PC or laptop.
👉 TURN SNAP WINDOWS ON 🔽
    1. Press and hold the Windows key + i to open settings.
    2. When your settings page is open, type multitasking into the search box called 'find a setting'. The multitasking option should appear in the drop down menu as you type.
    3. To select multitasking from the menu, use your arrow keys and press enter to select.
    4. Set 'snap windows' to ON in the toggle box.
When 'snap windows' is enabled, you can also choose:
🔵 When I snap a window, automatically size it to fill available space
🔵 When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it
🔵 When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window
    5. Once snap windows is on, shut down or minimise settings page.
👉 STEPS TO SPLIT SCREEN WINDOWS 10 🔽
Follow the steps below to split your screen effectively. We're show you how to split your screen into 2 windows vertically, side by side - we're going to be using Chrome & Microsoft Word to demonstrate this.
    1. Open first window (Chrome in our example) - To open from taskbar, press and hold Windows key + 5 then release keys. Open as full screen initially.
2.Then ensure that the window is not maximised - Windows key & ⬇ then release keys.
    3. Open second window (Word in our example) - To open from taskbar, press and hold Windows key + 6 then release keys.
    4. To snap the first window (Microsoft Word as shown) to right half of screen, press Windows key + ➡ then release keys. Window automatically snaps into place.
    5. The other programs/apps open on your Windows PC/computer/laptop will appear on the opposite half of the screen (left side as in case of video). Choose the program or app that you wish to use on the other half of the screen accordingly by using your keyboard arrow keys ⬆ or ⬇. Once highlighted, press enter to select.
    6. Window automatically snaps into place. The desired app / program will open and fill the second half of your screen.
    7. You're all done...
Now your two windows are snapped into place, they're ready for your to start work!

Is there a way to toggle back and forth between ONLY these two snapped in windows? When I use ALT+TAB, every program open comes up as a selection, but sometimes I am specifically working between these two chosen programs for a time and I don't want to close out my other programs in order to toggle.
For example, say I'm actively doing research and taking notes on a writing program, while watching a video or scrolling through a webpage. I will sometimes need to pause the video or rewind a certain section/scroll up or down to reference another part for a moment before continuing and so I'd like to quickly flip back and forth without having to use my mouse. Is this possible without the use of ALT+TAB requiring me to close any additional programs?
