Hello Views From The 502 ! Nightwish fans here, your musical quest summoned us. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (powerful operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs (with links) with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) ua-cam.com/video/pvkYwOJZONU/v-deo.html "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) ua-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/v-deo.html "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) ua-cam.com/video/1Xi4n8dJcF8/v-deo.html "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) ua-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/v-deo.html "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) ua-cam.com/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/v-deo.html "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) ua-cam.com/video/05eitd-EA6I/v-deo.html "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) ua-cam.com/video/OvOD6xecph4/v-deo.html "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) ua-cam.com/video/knqeI807ZlY/v-deo.html "Sleeping Sun" live at Vizovice Masters of Rock festival 2015 (ballad) ua-cam.com/video/pVPTUEW1PEM/v-deo.html "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) ua-cam.com/video/Zo8ncK_5kzc/v-deo.html "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) ua-cam.com/video/NhEuAPYm_Ug/v-deo.html "Alpenglow" live at Wembley 2015 (uplifting / metal) ua-cam.com/video/FrJvKZNEh7g/v-deo.html "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) ua-cam.com/video/lTvYfLa4Wlk/v-deo.html "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) ua-cam.com/video/wA44tjaP5n0/v-deo.html "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) ua-cam.com/video/TBOdgxjb0kM/v-deo.html "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) ua-cam.com/video/t26r_vAYQ0Q/v-deo.html "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) ua-cam.com/video/AN239Pbqbjo/v-deo.html "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) ua-cam.com/video/XvsfwAPbWXc/v-deo.html And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 ua-cam.com/video/DuwY1d-KIss/v-deo.html Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg.html (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) The links presented above are with the current singer of the band, Floor Jansen, since I'm a fan of the recent era of the band, with Floor as the singer. I have nothing against previous singers, but I do not consider myself the most suitable person to give specific recommendations from their repertoires. ** I think it's your place, fans of previous Nightwish eras, to present to the reactors the best recommendations with Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, because you know and appreciate them directly. I encourage you to add the best recommendations in the comments. ** That being said, I will add here the message left the other days by an old fan of the band, @Fabrizio Gorla: " To be fair to the old fanbase, you may want to include also some of these songs. Just be fair and don’t make a comparison if you don’t want an open war in your comment section. * The Tarja era *: The power of Tarja - Nightwish - Wishmaster [Live] - ua-cam.com/video/eJTlH521E6w/v-deo.html The lyrics of this song are a treasure of citations from fantasy books. Then 16 weeks ago she dropped the third cover, in Dutch: "Is Dit Nou Later" from Stef Bos - already 270K views. Just before Christmas she made a powerful cover of "Ave Maria" - already 289K views. 13 weeks ago she added a remastered / remixed version of the first one, "Let It Go" - already 191K. 11 weeks ago she added to the list a powerful cover of "Adagio" by Lara Fabian (!!!) - 400K views now. Then, just 6 weeks ago she gave us the last one so far: "Oblivion" by M83 - 428K views in 6 weeks.. Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO. Stay safe
🎵🔥🎵 *The list could include in the "Anette era" "The Islander" [Official Music Video] (it's maybe their best videoclip). And in the Tarja era you could also mention "Nemo" [LIVE "End of an Era"]...........Greetings & Stay safe.* 🎵🔥🎵
I'm 74, guys. I love classical and heavy metal, so symphonic metal touches all the bases for me. I've seen a lot of live shows, from Queen to Pink Floyd to Led Zepplin to...well, you name it. This is the best band I've ever heard.
I’m a little younger than you Alan, and I have also been to many live shows including all you mentioned as well as The Moody Blues with a full orchestra. I feel exactly the same as your sentiments but can add that in my opinion, this is probably the most perfectly orchestrated AND executed live performance I have ever heard. And Floor’s vocal prowess brought it to an extraordinary level. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Epicness right there. Gents, I'm a lifelong Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) appreciator who discovered Nightwish only 6 months ago or so after listening to "The Poet and the Pendulum" live and OMG I was blown away and have not emerged from the Nightwish rabbit hole since. Tuomas Holopainen the keyboard player is with E.L.O's Jeff Lynne up there with the greatest song writing composers ever and Floor Jansen is in my humble opinion the best vocalist that I have ever heard. Thank you for a great reaction. Paul 👍😊🙏
Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, agility, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a soprano with a range of more than three octaves (D3 to F6). It is apparent when listening to her sing that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a vocal coach herself. It is incredible how she is able to take any song and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet.
When it comes to technique, Floor is the gold standard. A hundred years from now, there will be recordings of her that future vocal coaches will use as teaching aids for aspiring singers to show them how it is supposed to be done.
Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. They are from Finland. What you've heard here is just the tip of what this band can do. Nightwish really hits you in your heart. And that's what makes this band so unique. Her name is Floor Jansen and she is Dutch. There were 82,000 people there.
3 more souls snatched by The Valkyrie Goddess.....guys when i tell you she can sing any genre of music in just about any language, i shit you not .....shes a friggin Alien 👽 and were blessed too have her .
She is a 6f1 Dutch Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Her name is Floor, derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. She has a range of more than 4 octaves . If you jump on the Nightwish train, you will get subscribers in no time. Peace out
Proud to say thay Floor is Dutch. And a women with the voice of an Angel. She perform also in a Dutch program called. BESTE ZANGERS. and she sings the phantom of the opera together with Henk Poort. Watch it please And hear her voice
Greetings from your neighbor in Clarksville Indiana. I just discovered your channel applaud your choice of song to react to. Once you've experienced your first Floorgasm, you're never the same.
Thanks thank you for the fantastic comment and more Nigthwisch please. nice to see the three of you and marvel at the world of Nigthwisch greeting from the Dutch and Floor Janssen .82000 people are there
Floor Jansen's voice and vocal range are absolutely AMAZING. Not only was Floor Jansen Classically trained, but she's also been a voice teacher/vocal coach herself in the past. And on a side note, Floor Jansen actually CAN sing opera. The video I've seen of Floor Jansen singing Opera is Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro.
In 2000, at the delicate age of 12, I received Nightwish's album Wishmaster as a Christmas present. I pressed play and my life changed forever. Never looked back. That's when I heard music like this for the first time. :) It doesn't matter when you get started with it though, only matters that you do. Great stuff you guys! Thanks for looking up stuff on the band before starting, and hope you stick with this journey. Greetings from the Nightwish og country Finland 🥂
So, now you have heard our Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. She is considered the best and most versatile female singer of our time. To see how she developed her versatility, check out her former bands 'After Forever' and 'Revamp'. She joined After Forever at the age of 16 in 1997. My favourite song is 'Energize me'. Most live performances are sadly fancams, but from this song they made a very nice music video. They disbanded in 2009. After this Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different styles within one song, such as full operatic on to serious growls in seconds. The song 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. October 2012 Floor got the call from Nightwish to fill in during the American Tour. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (see the documentary with the same name). The songs of Nightwish are very poetic and challenging vocal wise, but she got it done and the fans welcomed her with open arms. She performed with 'Revamp' for a couple more years, but in time she could not combine the two anymore and she had to disband Revamp in 2016. She did a side project called 'Northward' and the song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her mindblowing performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. Also on UA-cam there are numerous guest appearances with other bands to discover. As live concerts with Nightwish were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor uploaded many interesting videos in the last year such as stunning covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses and so much more. Her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. Just go to her UA-cam channel and unpack some of the presents she left there. As Floor is a high sensitive person, peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton); daughter Freja (just turned 4 years old), a horse and pony, 3 cats and a puppy dog she found this.
You just witnessed Floor Jansen (say... “Yan”-sen) the 6’ Valkyrie Queen. Welcome to the Nightwish Army, we’ll be coming to your UA-cam Channel directly. I look forward to watching you guys jump down the Nightwish rabbit hole!
Get this. Wacken is such a cool festival that they built a BEER pipeline that travels 4.3 miles straight from the beer brewing to the festival taps. This because the audience consumes approx. 105 000 gallons of beer on the festival weekend. 😎
She is so good! It all comes together. The girl from Unleash the Archers is awesome too. Both these groups I would not have heard if you didn't react to them. Thank you!
Love Nightwish! Ran across your video because of them and loved your reaction! I've subscribed to your channel because of Nightwish of course but also because two of the three of you are wearing UK shirts and being from Kentucky, I am also a huge UK fan so that earns you lots of points lol! Yay, Go Cats! Lol
Not really into metal at any level, I just came for Floor. Had seen some solo and duet on a Dutch TV show Beste Zangers where some of her performances brought tears from her peers. A true master of her instrument. I will say that you did start at the top of the table because this specific filmed performance is the best this Century in capturing the energy of that ten minute epic moment in time.
the North German Division of the Nightwish Army reports !! We are there. special greetings to #GabrielBardac (in your comments) and of course the rest of the Nightwish army and the sabaton family The Bande Vocals : Floor Jansen Bass,Vocals : Marco Hietala Guitar : Emppu Vuorinen Keyboards,Songwriting. : Tuomas Holopainen Uilleann Pipes : Troy Donockley Drums :Jukka Nevalainen/ Kai Hahto
Three more souls swept away by our Valkyrie goddess. Floor Jansen (pronounced Yan-sen) is the best female vocalist today. She can sing any style, any genre. That "hot" feeling you got is known as a "Floorgasm" and tends to happen when Floor hits those higher notes. I hope you react to more Nightwish to see what this band is all about. Each song is different and will surprise in one way or another. Subbed to join you on your journey. Enjoy the ride.
Nightwish Army, New Zealand Division reporting. I like all genres of music, especially metal and classical, so... Nightwish is perfect for me! And this song is totally epic, one of my favourite Nightwish songs, along with: Gethsemane, Nemo, Story Time, Phantom of the Opera, Sleeping Sun, Dead Boy's Poem, Shoemaker, How's the Heart.
The keyboardist/founder Tuomas Holopainen and Nightwish are from Finland. The Frontwoman Floor Jansen(Yansen)is from Holland. Holopainen has enlisted the services of the London Symphony Orchestra(Top Five in the World)with their adult and children's choirs. Almost all the background music on Ghost Love Score is from the LSO and its adult choir. The Storytime song(Disney/Peter Pan)has the LSO children's choir in the background throughout the song. Floor Jansen has a long history of vocal musicianship(she will be 41 years old this year). She took a year of opera training with several years of private lessons(she has been a vocal coach for quite a few years now)but switched to Symphonic Metal because of her opera training and her rock music background. She sings in eight languages and can speak almost that many. She joined her first band and founded her second band in her 20s. She speaks English almost as well as she speaks her native Dutch tongue. Floor became interested in bodybuilding in her youth and has many trophies in her "girlcave". She is a big woman at 6'1" 200lbs. Her husband, Hannes van Dahl, drummer for the Swedish Metal band Sabaton, is 6'7 250lbs +/-. Sean Nightingale's post on Floor is excellent. When Gabriel Bardac comes in you should pin his post. He is the master of all things Nightwish.
Another Floor Fact. She and Nightwish had worked together before Wacken 2013. Floor suffered a breakdown of some sort and had disbanded her band. Nightwish's #2 singer Anette Olzon had fallen ill on tour and had to be hospitalized. Tuomas called Floor and asked her to stand in for Anette(learn the setlist in 48 hours please). So they played North and South America and flew back to headline the Wacken concert in 2013. Floor had never played Wacken before and almost none of the 82,000 attendees knew who she was. They found out real quick though lol. Watching Floor work the crowd, it was amazing how quickly she brought them over to her. Floor is a true Valkyrie Goddess of Symphonic Metal.
Please, for your next Nightwish reaction: "Ever Dream" OFFICIAL LIVE Wacken 2013 There are many great female vocalists in European symphonic metal bands, but I think Floor Jansen is the best, the most versatile, she can sing pretty much any kind vocals. Tuomas, the keyboardist, band founder (in 1996) and leader, is the main songwriter of Nightwish. Composition, lyrics, arrangement. He was, way back in time, as an exchange student in the US, and his host family took him to some concerts, Metallica for example, and he was impressed and hooked to heavy music. Nightwish is from Finland, but Floor is Dutch. She replaced the previous singer Anette Olzon from Sweden, (2007-2012), on a 48 hour notice in the midst of the Nightwish US tour late 2012! The original female vocalist was Tarja Turunen, (1996-2005). Enppu Vuorinen, guitar (a black belt judoka) Marko Hietala, bass/vocals Jukka Nevalainen, drums, replaced by his friend Kai Hahto in 2015, due to Jukka's insomnia. Troy Donockley, the multi-instrumentalist from the UK, he can play just about anything you put in his hands or on his lips. He became an official member in 2013, just like Floor, but had occasionally played with Nightwish for years, in studio and on stage. Greetings from Helsinki Finland! Very nice reaction by the way!
The first singer had a very operatic voice and this was written for her, the second singer couldn't even pull off this song her voice was OK just more of a pop singer I guess. Then there is Floor who was classicly trained and can sing EVERYTHING she is by far THE best singer that most of us in the U.S. had never heard. I think this pandemic has helped Nightwish finally get some reconition!!
Welcome to Nightwish ! It's not every day you get to hear something completely out of your experience, that you like so much that you have to wonder why you've never heard it before. What you won't be wondering, is why the Nightwish fans are as rabidly passionate as we are. You've just gotten a small introduction - believe it or not, this band has much more to offer than you can imagine right now. The next few Nightwish videos you watch may be a little confusing at first. All of their songs are different from each other, and often drastically different. If you're expecting to figure out a "Nightwish sound", you will be pleasantly surprised, because it won't happen. The only things to expect are, you won't be able to predict anything you're about to hear, and whatever you hear will be exceptional. And while the songs are all different, they are all distinctly Nightwish. Eventually you'll just accept that they can play anything, and Floor's vocal talents have no limits. I know, it sounds like we're all just gushing over this band we love (but that can't possibly be as great as we think they are). Well, buckle in and hang on, because whatever we say, this band can and does exceed. You're in for a real treat. (MAKE AMERICA NIGHTWISH)
I find Tarja is more operatic(she was the first singer there is story behind that but watch some of her songs). Anette was the second singer and I found her more pop like. Floor is the third and frankly the one I first listened to and fell in love with the band over. This was one of her first year performances and I find later works with her to be just out of this world. She can do it all and they use that.
One thing you have to realise is that at Wacken there are 75,000+ fans, and every single one is there first and foremost for the music. They're not there for the fashion, to be "seen", or for instagram likes. They are there for the music. It is hard to explain the feeling when you're in a crowd like that, united by their shared love of metal regardless of the style.
You guys broke the levee. Welcome to Nightwish! You are about to embark on a musical experience like no other. I'm in my 50s, been a hard core metal fan, and still am, of epic bands such as Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath. But since discovering Nightwish last year, my entire outlook of musical art has been renewed. Floor I'm my mind is a living legend and I savor every second I hear her magical voice. You've only had a small taste of what she can do vocally. Her voice along with her stage presence and audience command can literally put you in a trance. You guys have only scratched the surface, but if you guys choose to go down the rabbit hole you will understand.
Greetings from The Netherlands 🐱👤🎶👍the female vocalist Floor Jansen is a fan of the American heavy metal band Pantera from Texas.😎 Backtracks are recorded by London philharmonic Orchestra at Angel Recording Studios in London, but they alsoo use other orchestras on occasion. (East European)

Peace and love guys ! :) Awesome reaction again. I cannot wait to see your faces after at least 10 iconic songs :))))) Peace ! :
I remember hearing about Nightwish back in 2006. A friend from the Czech actually told me that Evanescence reminded her of Nightwish. I then heard this song, and was absolutely blown away.
hey 502, it's great to see people discovering this amazing band, hope you sincerely enjoyed it, NW is Symphonic Metal (also called Beautiful Metal )the Symphonic elements are from the London Philharmonic composed by the keyboardist Tuomas, be warned it's an addiction, :) this Wacken 2013 is perfection ,a seminal event where every song is GOLD & better than the originals ,82,000 in attendance for Nightwish, considering Floor Jansen (who is the 3rd,current and final vocalist) had only been 10months in singing with the band at this point, but few singers and I have seen many live are this great live, and yet this song GLS -( 3rd from the end of a 15 song set) is but a small taste of what this band and singer has to experience.GLS is most reacted to song on YT right now and possibly ever, some vocal coach reactors have over 2.5 Million views,so the fan base is massive, very passionate & active on YT. I suggest staying with this Wacken 2013 before moving on to the other outstanding concerts, yes NW is best Live, then there is Floor's continued vocal versatility on the Dutch tv show Beste Zangers 2019 on YT ,she sings Shallow,Phantom of The Opera,Vilja Lied & more ,then her recent YT covers of Alone-Heart,Adagio-Lara Fabian,AveMaria,Oblivion, etc. so much to discover ,so welcome aboard this NW journey,it's an exceptional ride. cheers ****from this concert : Bless The Child- epic, StoryTime ,Ghost River, EverDream,Song of Myself,Last Ride of The Day,Nemo,Amaranth, while GLS is the ultimate example of the symphonic metal ,these other songs are much heavier. *Nightwish - Bless the Child (Wacken 2013) ua-cam.com/video/VTPXvE6o3LY/v-deo.html NIGHTWISH - Storytime (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO-Wacken 2013) ua-cam.com/video/pvkYwOJZONU/v-deo.html Ghost River (Wacken 2013) ua-cam.com/video/05eitd-EA6I/v-deo.html NIGHTWISH - Ever Dream (OFFICIAL LIVE-Wacken 2013) ua-cam.com/video/1Xi4n8dJcF8/v-deo.html Nightwish - Song of Myself LIVE-Wacken 2013- ua-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/v-deo.html Nightwish - Nemo (Wacken 2013) : ua-cam.com/video/plNcYhtPB8Y/v-deo.html Nightwish - Amaranth (Wacken 2013) : ua-cam.com/video/3yLMAxmlVNI/v-deo.html Nightwish - Last Ride Of The Day (Live Wacken 2013 - ShowtimeStorytime): ua-cam.com/video/QzIMx7Dqa_M/v-deo.html Nightwish - Wish I Had an Angel (Wacken 2013): ua-cam.com/video/Mn1V90FZLBs/v-deo.html
I love how she sings in Beste Zangers especially when she sings Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and also Rolf Sanchez' song Que Se Siente in her unique style.
Great reaction guys! 👍🤘 Greetings from the UK! Nightwish is a glorious rabbit hole of awesome, with world class song-writing, musicianship and arguably (or unarguably to most who've heard her enough😉) the best female vocalist alive today (maybe ever), the Valkyrie Queen of metal Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen). Floor is the third female vocalist that Nightwish have had, she was only with them on tour for 10 months at this point and officially joined the band in 2013, she is still with them today. The other vocalists are - Tarja Turunen - (1996-2005) - (Finland) - Very operatic focused vocals. Anette Olzon - (2007-2012) - (Sweden) - More pop-centric vocals. Floor Jansen - (2012-Present) - (Netherlands) - Extremely diverse vocals, from deep growls to full on opera. The other band members are - Tuomas Holopainen - Song writer/composer and Keyboards. (Finland) Marko Hietala - Bassist and vocals. (Finland) Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist (Finland) Jukka Nevalainen - Drums (Finland) Troy Donockley - Multi-instrumentalist and Vocals. (United Kingdom) Floor herself is Dutch and is another glorious goldmine of awesome as she has a lot of non-Nightwish related stuff (including 2 other bands, After Forever & ReVamp) that she has done that is all pretty amazing as well. The name of the genre they generally belong to is Symphonic Metal but their discography is extremely varied. The "Symphonic" backing tracks of their music is composed in the majority by Tuomas and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This was the 13th song in this particular set, she is belting notes like that the entire set. Nighwish are almost always better experienced with live versions of their songs if at all possible. Some suggestions for more songs for you to continue your journey would be Storytime, Romanticide, Ghost River, Ever Dream, Song of Myself, Dark Chest of Wonders, Nemo, Amaranth and I Wish I had an Angel all from Wacken 2013 (pronounced Vacken). Saying that, anything from Wacken 2013 is golden really to start, there's a reason why that set is pretty legendary at this point, 82,000 people were in attendance. Beware of some messed up slowed down versions of the Wacken 2013 songs as they can take the energy right out of the performances, just check the comments on them and I'm sure someone will mention if it's a slowed down version. Your choice obviously but I'd avoid Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth for now until you are more familiar with the band and it's history, they will make a lot more sense and be more enjoyable for you that way. Prepare for the Nighwish army to arrive and enjoy your Nightwish journey, I know I did!😎🤘 A chap called Gabriel will be along shortly I'm sure to fill you in with even more info.😉
Your souls now belong to Nightwish's 6' Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen. She can and does sing every style with perfection. Nightwish is best experienced with their official live videos, which beat most bands studio work. Try something a little heavier from the same concert. Storytime: ua-cam.com/video/pvkYwOJZONU/v-deo.html 😀
Outstanding posture from the three of you. You guys grooved, rocked it, were just left in Aaaaweishness... As were most NW listeners. I myself stumbled upon them almost three years ago with their last singer - Taraj. Now, she was full blown Opera. Floor Jansen is the {QUEEN} period. I asked the same question of myself, Where the Phuck was I lookin to not know of these group of Artists. Wait til you hear the rest of this Concert ya gonna freak......I gotta get to see NW when they hit the states......Good reaction Guys - Subbed!!!!!
Just to set this right - the soul and key to Nightwish is not the singer, it is and always has been Tuomas, the keyboardist and composer. I became a fan when Anett was the lead singer, and obviously she was the weakest of the three, but the songs were and still are so amazing, the composition is superb. But Floor has taken the performances to a whole new level, that's for sure.
Same. When I started listening consistently Anett was their singer. Imaginarium was the first album of theirs I had really listened to. But, before that my dad and my fiancée had shown me videos with Tara. Imaginarium made me a fan though.
NW Army NYC Branch here! You definitely need to listen their song from the same concert. Yours is an empty hope and Romanticide! Those song have more heavier sound. Believe me you won't be disappointed.

Greetings from The Netherlands. Floor Jansen performed on a Dutch show called "Beste Zangers 2019" (some think it means "the best singers", but actually it is more like writing to someone "Dear singers..."). She did a duet (Phantom of the Opera) with a well known (in the opera & musical scene) singer Henk Poort. After seeing all episodes of that show and being blown away over and over again by Floor, I wanted to explore Nightwish... got sucked into the rabbit hole and now stuck forever. So, if you want to experience more Floor Jansen, not only focus on Nightwish but include (as more people suggest) her performance on "Beste Zangers 2019" as well. And also check out her personal channel on UA-cam. Probably echoing what others already told you three in the comments below, but you asked how we got Nightwish on our radar... :) Liked your reaction by the way.
@The 502 This concert attendance was 4 times the capacity of Rupp Arena. Go Wildcats! The interlude in this song was a backing track recorded by the London Philharmonic. To the Nightwish army the '502' is the area code for Louisville, KY.
Nighwish has been played on mainstream radio here in Finland since around 1998. Some younger people do not listen to it because it's too mainstream for them. Pretty much all Nightwish songs have been written and composed by Tuomas Holopainen, the guy playing the keyboards. He's also composed all the orchestra parts which are actually playback from actual symphony orchestra recording from the album studio sessions. Tuomas cannot write notes for the orchestra so he plays the parts he wants using keyboard and Pip Williams converts those to the orchestra notes. The whole band plays to click track to sync with the orchestra recording. If blastbeat is not too fast for you, this would be a nice song to react to (also from Finland): Wintersun - Sons Of Winter And Stars (TIME I Live Rehearsals At Sonic Pump Studios) ua-cam.com/video/Tl5T-glTdXw/v-deo.html
Hail to the Queen ...Floor Jansen the best singer on the planet...She is Amazing...welcome Nightwish World is magic...Jukka and Kai amazing drummers...Emppu prodigious guitarrist, Marco powerful.voice, Troy master musician, Tuomas Genious composer...the best band our time👑🤘🔥
Nightwish army minnesota division reporting for duty! It was so much fun watching you guys react to this and see your heads bobbing 🤣 I see gabriel has been here and given you the great review he always does so I'll keep this short. Keep going down the rabbit hole of nightwish!! It's a fabulous journey! ❤️🤘🤘
Although the band is Finnish their 3rd female vocalist is not. She’s Dutch. Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen) was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer. Nightwish, After Forever and ReVamp worked under the same Nuclear Blast record label.
502 Nightwish Army here saying hi from Hikes Point - glad you guys got to get introduced to this pretty amazing group of musicians. Her voice is absolutely mesmerizing and you'll get addicted to it soon enough. I suggest one of their heavier tunes to see the juxtaposition of styles that they can do. Romanticide or Storytime would be good next tracks. Keep up the good work and go Cats!
Wacken festival with Cannibal Corpse in early 2000's and 70000 spectators was the best and then Nightwish of course. The NIghtwih was a production for a CD so maybe some extra items were added/not live like the choir etc. (just guessing)
Say "Hello" to Floor Jansen - Valkyrie Goddess Of Metal, Dutch Swiss Army Knife Of Music, and all around Vocal Beast. That's Emppu on the guitar, Marko on the bass, Tuomas on the keyboard, and Jukka on the drums. You need to watch more Nightwish. Wacken 2013 (Any) Live at Tampere (Storytime, The Islander, well, any, really) Mexico City (Alpenglow) If you'd like to see if more singers are 'operatic', welllll… the answer is, some ARE. You might want to check out Epica (especially Sancta Terra, with Floor Jansen - two opera trained soprano goddesses rocking the stage, with a full orchestral backup on top of the metal band).
Nightwish does collaborate with the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Children's Choir. The more you watch of Nightwish, the more you will hear of them in certain songs. I heard this song while listening to one of my favorite reactors on UA-cam. I saw he had listened to it and I figured it must be something new...so I listened. And I was blown away. This was March of 2020! My background... I am 63 years old....I have been listening to heavy metal/hard rock since I was 8 years old! Yeah, imagine my Southern Baptist parents, grand parents, aunts and uncles finding out an 8 year old was listening to Jimmy Hendrix, The Doors, Janis, Black Sabbath.... then Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Boston, AC/DC, and on and on! My LP collection was substantial! As for Nightwish, you will find that you can listen to the same song over and over again, and you won't tire of it! I can listen to Ghost Love Score over and over the same night and not get tired of it! What bothers me is I had never heard of them until last year! As for other similar groups...I love Within Temptation!
@atviewsfromthe502, from this same epic concert Wacken 2013, Song of Myself, Ghost River, Romanticide, Dark Chest of Wonders (concert opener), Storytime, Everdream, Last Ride of the Day (concert closer), actually the whole concert is epic. Their catalogue is impressive and vast. You guys have no idea what Nightwish brings to the table. I grew up in the classic rock era( 60s, 70s 80s) and honestly when I discovered Nightwish with Floor Jansen they became my all time favorite band and Floor my all time favorite lead singer. They’re that good and unique. Their music and live performances are addictive.🤟🤟✌️✌️🇨🇦
The vocals Floor Jansen is the third frontwoman in Nightwish, she is really a killer performancer, such beautiful and amazing talented (I’m with her in my profile picture, she is really tal haha). Please react to “The Promise” by Within Temptation from live dvd BlackSymphony you will enjoy this beautiful performance too Greetings from Mexico.

502's....Nice reaction, thank you. Welcome to the world of Nightwish. Gabriel will be here with your information material. The NW Army is on the way to say hello and ask a request or a thousand. Nice to know the band has made it to U K at Lexington. Enjoy your journey and enjoy,
This is just the tip of what they can do, shows some of their range but not indicative of their songs imo. You need to hear Romanticide, Storytime or Ghost River next.
Marko the great bass player is also a singer. He sings in several Nightwish songs and he's just as good as Floor. You'll find out in your next Nightwish comments. ♥ next song "Dark chest of wonders", from Wacken 2013. Its the openings song of that concert and a real banger!!
Awesome reaction! I got to see them twice in the states in 2012 and 2015. This is a journey.... Nightwish will surprise you! Do Romanticide and Storytime next.... from the same concert!! You will not regret it!! And that is just the beginning!
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "
Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs (with links) with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory):

Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg.html (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..)
The links presented above are with the current singer of the band, Floor Jansen, since I'm a fan of the recent era of the band, with Floor as the singer.
That being said, I will add here the message left the other days by an old fan of the band, @Fabrizio Gorla: " To be fair to the old fanbase, you may want to include also some of these songs. Just be fair and don’t make a comparison if you don’t want an open war in your comment section.

Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO. Stay safe
@Mandy Van den hoogen Good morning to you too. Here it's raining, but all's good.
:)
Pretty fast Gabriel! I found this reaction 6 hours after it was posted.
Gabriel, I keep talking about you to all the new people that racts to Nightwish. Please keep doing your great job. Greetings man....
@@NicholasCorvin I hear you.
I'm 74, guys. I love classical and heavy metal, so symphonic metal touches all the bases for me.
I've seen a lot of live shows, from Queen to Pink Floyd to Led Zepplin to...well, you name it.
This is the best band I've ever heard.
You should experience them live.
@@duikmans Had tickets for the show at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. and then...covid. Time will tell.
I am 62 - and seen many of the the old top of the top - and I have EXPERIENCED Nightwish live, several times now.
Hole new league.
🤘🤘🤘
At 72 I concur. The textures and the talent.
She? Floor can sing anything. Nightwish? Can play anything. The most talented band for a long time...
Last two studio albums were more prog than metal.

And one more thing: she is a gorgeous woman.
Greatest Band of planet? Hahaha you forget avenged sevenfold
@@guilhermesoares3400Hahaha...No.😑
This singer Floor Jansen can do it all: opera, death growls etc. You haven't seen and heard enough😏
82,000 in attendance! You'll be hearing from the Nightwish Army presently... You're in for it now! :-) Next up: "Storytime" from same concert.
Yes!
Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) makes about 95% of the songs. He's called also metal Mozart. He is genious.
There is a saying: other singers plays what they can, Floor plays what she wants.

If you jump on the Nightwish train, you will get subscribers in no time.
Peace out
Well... She's Swedish now.
Hannes stole her 🤣
@@F1rstWorldNomaD Yeah, he seduced her with, Pantera, whisky and cigars. . 😈😈😈😈
You say 'Flor' in spanish for flower.
@@F1rstWorldNomaD she lives in Sweden, but still Dutch.
Proud to say thay Floor is Dutch. And a women with the voice of an Angel. She perform also in a Dutch program called. BESTE ZANGERS. and she sings the phantom of the opera together with Henk Poort. Watch it please And hear her voice
Amazing voice! Something truly different. Really enjoyed this live performance. :)
You've seen nothing yet.
Welcome to the wonderful magical world of nightwish.
Greetings from the Dutch nightwish army.
We were here!
Beautifully said.
For some reason, the unison head bobbing is oddly satisfying lol
I just keep imagining Jim Carrey in the car bopping his head with his two buddies :)
I had to laugh how they were head bobbing in synch and when Floor hits first couple of notes, dead stop!
82 000 people and you guys.Welcome to the Nightwish rabbithole!
Amazing!!! Did not know what to expect. So good! What a voice!
Lol
Seeing fresh souls be delivered to the siren Goddess never, ever gets old.
You just discovered one of the greatest singers of all time.
the North German Division of the Nightwish Army reports !! We are there. special greetings to #GabrielBardac
(in your comments) and of course the rest of the Nightwish army and the sabaton family
The Bande
Vocals : Floor Jansen
Bass,Vocals : Marco Hietala
Guitar : Emppu Vuorinen
Keyboards,Songwriting. : Tuomas Holopainen
Uilleann Pipes : Troy Donockley
Drums :Jukka Nevalainen/ Kai Hahto
She gave kudos to the band after that spectacular vocal performance which tells me that she's very humble. Love this band!
Small correction: Floor entered her 40th on Feb. 21st of this year.
Nightwish army from Romania 🇷🇴 salutes you. Welcome to Nightwish univers. 🤟
Please, for your next Nightwish reaction: "Ever Dream" OFFICIAL LIVE Wacken 2013
There are many great female vocalists in European symphonic metal bands, but I think Floor Jansen is the best, the most versatile, she can sing pretty much any kind vocals.
Enppu Vuorinen, guitar (a black belt judoka)
Marko Hietala, bass/vocals
Jukka Nevalainen, drums, replaced by his friend Kai Hahto in 2015, due to Jukka's insomnia.
Rock and classical training i believe. One of the first graduates from the rock in Tilburg?
@@jjakjjak5231 yes I forgot she went to a rock academy, but I don't know the name. I'm only from the U.S. LOL
Welcome in the Magical World of Nightwish, Grtz from Belgian Nightwish Army
Wisconsin Division of the Nightwish Army checking in.
Nightwish Army reporting from Argentina!! All I'm going to say is..... MORE!!!! ♥
EHHH I just found yall randomly, I live right by UofL campus GO CARDS!!! LMFAO! Much love #502
You guys have only scratched the surface, but if you guys choose to go down the rabbit hole you will understand.
was here for the floorgasm
Greetings from The Netherlands 🐱👤🎶👍the female vocalist Floor Jansen is a fan of the American heavy metal band Pantera from Texas.😎 Backtracks are recorded by London philharmonic Orchestra at Angel Recording Studios in London, but they alsoo use other orchestras on occasion. (East European)

Guys!!! Great great reaction. Daniel from Romania here ! You're in the rabbit hole now guys! Enjoy the new subscribers and likes and love from the NW army once you will follow Gabriel's lead ! Peace and love guys ! :) Awesome reaction again. I cannot wait to see your faces after at least 10 iconic songs :))))) Peace ! :
Really happy to see u guys have joined the nightwish army :) yay welcome and ur in for a great ride boys!! 👍😀
I suggest staying with this Wacken 2013 before moving on to the other outstanding concerts, yes NW is best Live, then there is Floor's continued vocal versatility on the Dutch tv show
Beste Zangers 2019 on YT ,she sings Shallow,Phantom of The Opera,Vilja Lied & more ,then her
recent YT covers of Alone-Heart,Adagio-Lara Fabian,AveMaria,Oblivion, etc.
so much to discover ,so welcome aboard this NW journey,it's an exceptional ride. cheers
****from this concert : Bless The Child- epic, StoryTime ,Ghost River, EverDream,Song of Myself,Last Ride of The Day,Nemo,Amaranth, while GLS is the ultimate example of the symphonic metal ,these other songs are much heavier.

Greetings from the UK!
The other vocalists are -
Tarja Turunen - (1996-2005) - (Finland) - Very operatic focused vocals.
Anette Olzon - (2007-2012) - (Sweden) - More pop-centric vocals.
Floor Jansen - (2012-Present) - (Netherlands) - Extremely diverse vocals, from deep growls to full on opera.
The other band members are -
Tuomas Holopainen - Song writer/composer and Keyboards. (Finland)
Marko Hietala - Bassist and vocals. (Finland)
Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist (Finland)
Jukka Nevalainen - Drums (Finland)
Troy Donockley - Multi-instrumentalist and Vocals. (United Kingdom)
Floor herself is Dutch and is another glorious goldmine of awesome as she has a lot of non-Nightwish related stuff (including 2 other bands, After Forever & ReVamp) that she has done that is all pretty amazing as well.
Prepare for the Nighwish army to arrive and enjoy your Nightwish journey, I know I did!😎🤘
A chap called Gabriel will be along shortly I'm sure to fill you in with even more info.😉
I love seeing people hearing floor for the first time🤘😂🤘 Peace from Austria 🤘🤘🤘
Your souls now belong to Nightwish's 6' Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen. She can and does sing every style with perfection. Nightwish is best experienced with their official live videos, which beat most bands studio work. Try something a little heavier from the same concert. Storytime: ua-cam.com/video/pvkYwOJZONU/v-deo.html 😀
Queen Floor = Goddess
The Best Singer on Earth
No ONE LIKE Her
Gentlemen welcome to the start of your Nightwish journey.
And now listening to the other 25 years of incredible Nightwish songs ....
Nightwish army, Australian division reporting for duty..🤘🤘🤘
Just to set this right - the soul and key to Nightwish is not the singer, it is and always has been Tuomas, the keyboardist and composer. I became a fan when Anett was the lead singer, and obviously she was the weakest of the three, but the songs were and still are so amazing, the composition is superb. But Floor has taken the performances to a whole new level, that's for sure.
Same. When I started listening consistently Anett was their singer. Imaginarium was the first album of theirs I had really listened to. But, before that my dad and my fiancée had shown me videos with Tara. Imaginarium made me a fan though.
The Lead singer is insane !
NW Army NYC Branch here! You definitely need to listen their song from the same concert. Yours is an empty hope and Romanticide! Those song have more heavier sound. Believe me you won't be disappointed.

Even after the...hundretststst reaction, I still got goosebumps and shivers...I love Floors Voice so much.
Liked your reaction by the way.
@The 502 This concert attendance was 4 times the capacity of Rupp Arena. Go Wildcats!
The interlude in this song was a backing track recorded by the London Philharmonic.
To the Nightwish army the '502' is the area code for Louisville, KY.
With Nightwish - always live versions.
very cool reaction,
greetings from the Nightwish Army from Germany :-)
I really appreciate that you guys researched things before the video, that’s awesome!
Yay, my home concert... 82.000 people celebrating Metal and NW in the middle of nowhere in Northern Germany
If blastbeat is not too fast for you, this would be a nice song to react to (also from Finland):

Drumming to a backing track and still put your personal stamp on it is not easy.
so true! every pause or error sticks out like a you know what!
Wacken 2013 (Any)
Live at Tampere (Storytime, The Islander, well, any, really)
Mexico City (Alpenglow)
If you'd like to see if more singers are 'operatic', welllll… the answer is, some ARE.

Almost every Nightwish song is epic. You hear one, and feel like you went on a quest then the next one starts.
Nightwish army from Kansas! Magnificent band, very powerful, has meaning. Share to your friends.
Awesome reaction! I got to see them twice in the states in 2012 and 2015. This is a journey.... Nightwish will surprise you! Do Romanticide and Storytime next.... from the same concert!! You will not regret it!! And that is just the beginning!
The symphonic parts are prerecorded by real orchestras and choirs like London Symphony Orchestra.
