Floor was with the band for 10 months by this concert. But she replaced Annette halfway thru their tour and had only 48 hours to learn the setlist. Floor is one of the best female vocalists in the world.
I'm glad you decided to continue exploring this vein of diamonds that is Nightwish's music. Of course, new subscriber here, to follow your journey. All the best, from Romania!
Gabriel, you should be made an honorary member of Nightwish! The things you did to promote this awesome band on youtube is unbelievable! Free tickets to all their concerts, signed copies of all Nightwishes's albums, and some personal thank you letters from all the bandmembers...You would deserve it! Salute to the General :)
One thing about Nightwish.. They don't just use patches for Tuomas on the keyboards; they record with the London Sessions/London Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Metro Voices Choir, and they record at Abbey Road. It's the same orchestra that John and Pip Williams have used for Star Wars. So all of the instrumentation you are hearing is keyboard plus the pure orchestral fill from the orchestra, all as a backing track. This is a good use case for a backing track, instead of using it to cover your imperfections from your voice or forgotten lyrics. You should have a react to Romanticide, from this very same show. you'd get a kick out of that one.
Great reaction...i love Nightwish ...Floor is the best on the planet...she open show of Metallica yesterday on Nehtherlands...is amazing is the Queen.❤
I’m a senior citizen, musician and have heard many of the greats over the years. In multiple genres. Floor is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard . I’ve heard NW in concert 3 times here in Maryland and they are superb. Enjoy. Gabriel will be here and give you lotsa details.
I've seen a LOT of bands over the years, including many so called 'legends', in the prime, across a range of genres with a bias to metal /rock..Bowie, Queen with Mercury, Rainbow with Dio, ACDC, Ten years after, Thin Lizzy, Micheal J, Van Morrison, UFO, Motorhead, Maiden, Sabbath, Ozzy...and on and on; but I've never been to see a concert where I ended up punching the air, with tears running down my cheeks...that was NW, with Floor.
You, my friend, have perfectly encapsulated this experience! Same same, lots of shows over lots of decades. This show, with This lineup and this audience...THIS is one of my very few peak live show experiences ever. Period. I'm so grateful to have been there and done That! rl 🤘👹🤘
I was at a live show about a year ago , second row center. Floor melted my face off singing 7 days to the wolves. Most epic live thing I’ve seen and Ive been to hundreds of concerts
Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
I was there live. What it's like to be there live? indescribable! Floor's voice makes the body vibrate. That was only 10% of her voice. Very good reaction. You have a new subscriber
Thanks for checking this out. This was song #13 of15 in this headline set. Floor had been with the band about 10 months here at Wacken, she took over mid tour. But , it was the first time most in the 82k crowd had seen her with Nightwish, most of those 10 months were in North and South America. this is but a portion of what she can do. In Storytime, the operatic part the choir did in the video you watched, she does that herself. And every song at this show was written for one of the first 2 singers, this was an original lead singer Tarja Turunen era song. Floor added to the originals and made them her own. Yes, Emppu is the only guitar in this song, Marko is on bass. Emppu plays a custom ESP EV-1, based on the Horizon model. Marko plays Warwick basses. Multi instrumentalist, Troy Donockley(not on stage here) has played a second guitar in some songs, but not at this show. As for pronunciations, assume the 'J' is pronounced like an English 'Y'. Jansen(Yan-sen), Jukka(Yukka), etc... Try Romanticide from this show, you'll get introduced to Marko's vocal abilities.
Floor had an audience that turned in to an army of 82,000 mesmerised from the time she sang her first note. Wacken 2013 was the first time that many present there had ever seen or heard Floor fronting Nightwish. Epicness right there on that stage. I somehow reached 56 years of age having not heard of Nightwish or Floor Jansen and now just over 14 months later I am deeply immersed down the Nightwish rabbit hole. This phenomenal band eclipses everything that I have held in the highest regard for 50 years. Thank you gents for a great reaction. Paul 🙏😊👍❤️
The singer is Dutch Floor Jansen, first name is Dutch for flower and the last name the J is pronounced as a Y, she studied at the Rock academy and also studied opera and musical theatre as well.
Hello Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. They are from Finland. And they make Symphonic Metal. What you've heard here is just the tip of what this band can do. Nightwish really hits you in your heart. And that's what makes this band so unique. Her name is Floor Jansen and she is Dutch. There were 82,000 people there. I happily refer you to Gabriel Bardac's comment (he'll be here soon) for a list with lots of song suggestion. Watch out for the Nightwish Army. Greetings from the Netherlands.
You should definitely follow this up with their performance of Storytime from this same 2013 Wacken concert, to really hear the comparison with the studio/Annette version. Don't worry, repeating the song won't annoy any of the Nightwish Army.
It annoys me bud. They've done Storytime right? Then they should move on. There's a big catalogue. I'm not the only one that thinks Storytime is more convincingly performed by Olzon than Jansen so they've heard all they need to hear. What is the point of them making comparisons? Unless you're hoping that they get sucked into the black lagoon of distrust and even hatred that exists amongst too many supporters of this band.
keep in mind , she was singing already for more than 1 hour and 40 minutes when she sings this song , Floor best female singer on the planet right now ! ( my opinion )
Glad to hear the Marco love (bassist). Not many catch or comment on his little run at the end. Such a treat to hear musicians' take on these songs I love. Cheers from NC.
18:34 The Floorgasm brings yet more converts to the family !! 😁 Welcome Brothers. You’re each one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it. A breathtaking masterpiece sung by a Valkyrie Goddess… or what Nightwish thinks of as just another day. 💙💙💙All Hail Floor !! 💙💙💙 Infantryman-Nightwish Army. US Regiment. Saw NIGHTWISH in Denver, Colorado May 15, 2022 after two cancellations due to covid. First scheduled for Los Angeles twice then ended up in Denver. How was it? Finished with, "The Greatest Show on Earth". By this time Marco had left the group. Still a killer performance.
Great reaction guys. Really enjoyed your insights as musicians. As a fellow American I get the Amy Lee reference as it is the only thing we have that comes close to this style of music. It is an indictment of the American Music Industry that we are kept in the dark about a huge amount of amazing music that exists all over the world. I discovered Nightwish a little over 3 years ago and through them a whole world of symphonic metal, folk metal and just non American metal in general has been opened up to me. Saw Nightwish last May in Boston in about a 3000 person arena. The show just blew me away and the small number (compared to Europe or South America) of fans were very passionate and so fun to be around. Because their American audiences are so much smaller we don't get the huge stage production (no video wall, no pyro) but it doesn't matter because the music and the band is so phenomenal. The show closed out with 4 awesome songs in a row, Last Ride of the Day, Ghost Love Score, The Greatest Show on Earth (the history of evolution on Earth inspired by Richard Dawkins writings), and then as the outro, as the band takes its final bows, Ad Astra with epic orchestral music, spoken word from Carl Sagan's Pale blue Dot, and Floor's soaring vocals to close it out. I have never left a concert more energized and inspired to go out and live a good and meaningful life. Subbed for expertise and hoping you continue your journey.
Floor also recently released a solo album that is more mainstream. Metallica asked her to fill in as an opening act this Saturday after Five Finger Death Punch had to back out at the last minute! Guess Metallica liked what they saw at Pinkpop Festival last summer. Also checkout another symphonic metal band, Epica. Recommend their song Unleashed live from their Retrospect concert with full orchestra and choir on stage.
I've seen Nightwish live like 4-5 times and their show (especially the biggest one) I consider to my TOP 3 live concerts that I've ever visited (although every of their concerts was awesome). I say I consider Nightwish in TOP 3 live bands along with Tool and Heilung, but I cannot say which one is the best one... They all absolutelly blew my mind in different way. I will recommend you to go see Nightwish live any day!
Yep - that's Floor! - and complete understanding why you said Amy Lee while Amy is a great singer that have some of the same qualities as Floor - but only some as you might have understood at the end here. In this song you saw around 10% of Floor's capabilities (not kidding!). At this concert Floor was only doing old Nightwish songs, not written to her incredible techniques and power - shec came in on the world tour 10 month earlier, replacing Anette. From 2015 all new songs are written to Floor - imagine being a songwriter and suddenly realized that you will never more have any kind of limitations in your writing!! That was the reality for Tuomas - and he certainly are going all in from 2015 and up - he even manages to challenge Floor's breath and voice techniques shortly during the newer albums - but only shortly..... Floor is in a league of her own, and she is still evolving. Just wait until you realize how versatile she is - from Lady Gaga's 'Shallow' - Phantom of the Opera in duet with Henk Port (opera singer) - and to the incredible masterpieces like Dead Boy's Poem, The Poet and the Pendulum, The Greatest Show on Earth, How is the Heart, 7 days to the Wolves etc etc etc - there are more than 120 incredible and mind blowing performances to choose from, including some TV-shows.. You ain't seen and experienced nothing yet 😉 Greetings from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘n
NightWish Army Wisconsin Chapter here. I was blessed to be able to see them in Minneapolis last year, and let me tell you that seeing NightWish live is life altering! You are in disbelief and actually shaking because of how powerful the music is. They are unbelievably amazing at interacting with the audience. Seeing NightWish live TRULY is an EXPERIENCE! Enjoy your ride guys! 🤘
I was also at that concert and consider it the best I have ever been to. That band doesn't have any weakness and like you said the interacting between the band and the audience was other worldly. It felt like you were hanging out with a bunch of friends. I am still in disbelieve at how over an almost two hour concert Floor never missed a note and was pitch perfect. Just witnessing that stamina and perfection left me in awe.
If you truly want to see them live, keep the image of you seeing them in your head, save up the money if need be, so one day when they come to your city or a city near enough, you can make it happen. If you believe it, it will be, come Hell or High water! I heard they were coming and regardless how it effected me, I chose to spend that money without looking back. We spend hundreds even thousands of dollars at stores like Walmart for things we don’t even need, but question those things we do need? Save the money, tuck it away and keep that promise to yourself that one day you WILL see NightWish live! 🤘✌🏼❤️❤️
Saw Floor at her first Nightwish concert in Seattle WA...she had just learned the setlist. She did a heck of a show for someone who hadn't been with the band very long. Floor is quite probably the most powerful female singer in music today.....her live performances set her well above others in the genre.
Floor Jansen is the finest vocalist of any rock or metal band and one of the finest vocalists of any genre period. Change my mind….there are a lot of UA-cam Videos of Floor singing multiple genres and every single one of them is majestic. The rest of Nightwish are outstanding musicians and masters of their craft. The live shows are astonishingly well sound engineered, on the same level as Pink Floyd live, and Tuomas Halopinen (keys) is a composer without equal. He writes the majority of these masterpieces, but it is the band as a whole that brings them alive. This incarnation of Nightwish is untouchable.
It doesn’t really matter where you start with Nightwish, what’s important that you start somewhere and keep going. :). I really enjoyed your previous reaction and am looking forward to seeing more. I’m regards to your ask for stories about Nightwish concerts, I’m not a huge concert goer because I tend towards pretty hard core introversion and large crowds make me extremely uncomfortable so I’ve only attended a few in my lifetime, though I’ve been part of many concerts as a performer being a lifelong musician. I did bite the bullet and go to their LA show last year though, and it was one of the greatest moments of my life. I’ve watched all of Nightwish’s concert dvds many times over, so I thought I knew what to expect going in, but I was wrong. Nothing can prepare you for it. The sound was a physical force, and the moment that Floor opens her mouth to sing the sheer power that she’s capable of hits you like a 200lb feather pillow swung by the Jolly Green Giant. It was a full body thump, and it just kept getting better and better as the night went on. A glorious experience that I have every intention of repeating if they ever tour into LA again.
You are right: "Serving the song", that is what the band is all about. All of them are superior musicians, topped off with a superior singer in Floor. They're a match made in Symphonic Metal heaven!
So glad you checked this out! :D You should really check out Storytime with Floor at this same show, it truly is a different experience than Annette’s version. If not that then Ever Dream or Romanticide from 2013 Wacken are my next recommendations. Enjoy :)
I was there live and I was extremely surprised!!! I have seen Nightwish live a few times during Taja's time and lost interest in the band after Taja was kicked out. I can remember quite well that I was at another stage to see Zak Stevens who played the complete album The Wake of Magellan that night. So I only caught the last few songs of the Nightwish concert and it was unbelievable how many people were in the infield and everyone was excited. Then there is also the fact that the sound in Wacken is second to none! Especially for an open air the sound in Wacken is brute and yet differentiated. The biggest disadvantage is that too much happens at the same time, on five of eight stages is played parallel during the day. In the infield alone there are three stages where at times two are played in parallel. There are 75000 fans and over four days about 35000 people of crew, musicians (over 100 bands), journalists, residents and guests. Normally this is distributed quite well over the area, but this evening you had the feeling that all were there only because of Nightwish and this absolutely deserved, it was not only for me the live comeback for this band. Just awesome even if I have not seen everything.
Greetings from Nightwish Army, Palm Springs, CA! So so glad you gave Nightwish a 2nd chance! This song is like an appetizer sampler of their styles and sounds! So much yet to discover! Should you choose to take the journey... a few songs in, once ppl get to know you...play us a clip of your band as an opening bumper! We support music lovers!
Welcome to the wonderful world of symphonic metal and Nightwish. This is one of the most epic live performances EVER. Glad you liked and greetings from Finland! ⛄❄👍
Welcome to what is considered to be one of Nightwish's definitive concerts. Floor is an incredible vocalist and this is a small part of her repertoire. From full operatic, belting and metal growls. Although Tuomas, keyboards, doesn't have growls very often in his songs.
I was introduced to Nightwish during the Annette era. Even with her, it was such a relief from the commercial pop that dominates the U.S. airwaves. A UA-cam suggestion led me to a group called After Forever, with the song Energize Me, with Floor on vocals. I immediately said, 'That kid has the goods', so it was a delight when she joined NW. Others have mentioned that she only had 48 hours to learn the set list, but it's significant that she was at her sister's wedding in the Netherlands when the call came. Anyway, greetings from Michigan and welcome to the rabbit hole.
Saw them live in Birmingham UK Nov 22. Best concert I've ever been to - thousands of fans all roaring to the magic that is Nightwish. Check out "The Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere if you want to be blown away by a musical masterpiece! All the best for your journey!
"Carol of the Bells" is what you were thinking of. /// The backing tracks of full string section, brass hons, and woodwinds are The London Philharmonic Orchestra. Gospel choir tracks are from Metro Voices of London. Ltd.
I've seen nightwish now 5 times, 1 time with tarja (don't remember a lot from it), 1 time with anette (don't remember much about that show either) and 3 times with Floor. To me this is a combination made in heaven, she gives the band that extra. I love them live, it is a experience that always finishes too soon. 2 hours feels like 10 minutes 😅
I just found your channel. This is one of my absolute favorite bands. I listen to them daily. Floors vocals are just beyond other female singers today. There isn't a single bad song. This is a deep rabbit hole. Enjoy.
Fantastic reaction! Please do Storytime same concert. Each band member always serves the songs. They are humble that way. Subbed so you can keep going. Oh, and I loved your "nerdy" observation. :)
There is a reaction video where Floor Jansen reacts to this video and her performance and the last parts she sings shows Floor even in awe of the money end where she hits those amazing notes, it’s a really emotional part that I get tear up at almost every time. Great reaction!!
Saw them live with Floor, 3,000 people, small, packed venue in Pittsburgh. I have seen 250 shows in my life, Ozzy, Queen with Freddie, Myles Kennedy with Slash, Rush, Disturbed, Godsmack and she is one of the most amazing live singers I have ever heard.
There's a video of Floor sort of reacting to this song on her UA-cam Channel. It's her favorite song to sing. You really have to do Storytime with Floor. FYI She growls and she Cancer Free and 4months pregnant with her 2nd. Her daughter is 6 and her husband Hannes is from the band Sabaton as the drummer.
They are a brilliant live band. I saw them live at Wembley late last year and not only are they one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen, but their sound engineering live is top-notch - not always easy in a stadium. Floor is a phenomenon and live her vocals astound. Whether on record or live, probably the best singer I’ve ever heard.
Hi guys. Nightwish all play for the tune. They shine individually in time, but the music is in focus. They are a community, i think it is refreshing. There is a lot of talent on stage, they are all masters at their craft, but play for the music. Welcome in the rabbithole. Nightwish army Denmark checking in. Btw. As the saying goes, singers sing the best they can, Floor sings what she wants! Cheers.
Kudos for featuring the band and making yourselves smaller in relation. It shows respect and I salute you for it. It takes some next-level self-confidence to do that. Bravo gentlemen. Thanks for watching our favorite band. -- Nightwish Army, USA Division.
🤩👍💥💯🎼 Now that you've seen and heard The "corner stone" performance by them I kindly urge you to explore more of this magical band. The group is always tight AF on stage and the whole production value is deep - thought to high level. And it's not a 'nerdy' thing to spot those deeply thought and placed details on stage. 😉👍 Cool Cool reaction guys and keep on rockin with them! Cheers from Finland (the Mother Land of Nightwish) 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙 "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 next by them, despite there will be tons of requests to react from this particular gig... 😋🙃
Excellent reaction guys! I love your screen setup: full screen for the band and you are big enough to see your physical reaction. Also I like your reaction style: good observation and well made points without being too intrusive that keeps a good flow. If you continue your Nightwish journey you have so much to look forward to. From the really heavy to Celtic rock to stunning emotional songs. Glad you gave Marco (the bass player) a mention. He normally gets noted for his singing, which is outstanding, but his bass playing is such an important part of the Nightwish sound. The rest of the band are all masters of their instruments and of course Floor is an amazing singer who can sing anything from opera to death metal growls! Looking forward to your next Nightwish reaction. Greetings from the UK.
You'll hear Storytime recommended next which is great... only until you hear Romanticide after that, I think you'll have a good feel for how much (or not) you like the band. Really enjoyed the reaction... thanks!
@@northof4912 I assume you really like Ghost Score. I've seen many reactors who were cold on GLS really like Romanticide as they wanted something heavier. If they had listened first to Romanticide then I would have recommended GLS. I'm not suggesting Romanticide is the best but rather that it is a good contrast in my opinion.
"Hope this one serves as a redemption for that one!".. Absolutely! Until the 7:07 mark when sure enough, the E-word fell and the AL comparison was made 😂 Has become somewhat of a meme & part of the experience when US reactors meet Floor for the 1st time. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Greetings from The Netherlands 😍😍😍😍😍😍Floor was with the band for 10 months by this concert. But this was the first concert they introduced her as a full band member.
Storytelling here. The band is fantastic and the singing immaculate. I was there last November in Amsterdam and it was an experience I can tell. Dig in guys, there's a lot more to find in that rabbit hole. Great reaction. Keep rocking!
I have been at this show. First to clear the dust, Floor was with the band for about 10 month at this point. She replaced Annette during the US leg of their world tour. BUT this was the first impression she gave to a middle european audience. For me it was my first time seeing her live. I was deep into Nightwish during the Tarja era, but lost track of them because I didn't liked Annettes voice with them. Seeing them live with Annette showed me, that I was right. She couldn't kick it off. Mostly my wife is responsible for the fact that I wasn't lying drunk in my tent at the time Nightwish entered the stage. Floor just did her thing and blew everybody away within the first few seconds of the show. I saw a lot of disbelieve and just pure awe. I remember my jaw hurting from standing wide open most of the time. Floor even makes grown men cry. Like me, she made me cry with "Nemo", a fact that never happened before or since then during a concert. She is just out of this world.
Great reaction, guys; very insightful. I saw Nightwish live last year outside of Boston, MA. They were so good live. It was a very emotional experience.
bas guitar's almost always overlooked, in all bands. More love to bas players out there :) the members of Nightwish are all amazing musicians! Thanks for the reaction!
Welcome to Nightwish and our 6'1 Valkyrie Godess Floor Jansen (Yanson). When you are visited by Gen Gabriel, follow his advice on all things Nightwish, and you can't go wrong. Nightwish Army North Florida Airborne Div reporting in. Oh the orchestra is the London philharmonic orchestra, on the backing.
I saw Anette twice and have seen Floor twice now. First concert with Anette was pretty great, but her second was two shows before Floor replaced her. Floor's have blown me away both times. She is so consistent live, really engages with the crowd, has great comraderie with the band, etc. They put on an amazing show no matter the venue and I highly recommend checking them out when they do another NA tour
The Orchestra you keep hearing in the background and during that middle interlude would be the London Philharmonic...Nightwish has worked with several Orchestras and Choirs over the years...just so you know.
Great video! Don't apologize for the "wrong" song. Every era of Nightwish brought something unique and no true fan of the band would ever dismiss a part of their history just because they prefer a different part. On that note, I suggest you listen to Phantom of the Opera with Tarja and Marko singing together. Marko also has a few songs where he is the lead singer, such as The Islander, or the Pink Floyd cover High Hopes.
You should definitely follow this up with their performance of Storytime from this same 2013 Wacken concert. Don't worry, repeating the song won't annoy any of the Nightwish Army.
Love to see your honest surprise :-) Their live performances are really awesome, even better than the studio versions I personally think. Especially while they have such a lovely connection with the audience. It's not always visible in the separate video's, but Floor definitely has some nice conversations with the crowd as well :-) Oh by the way... The christmassy bells thing you were looking for is named Carol of the Bells... Considering Floor... she just floors everyone ;-) If you like the awesome high notes, check out Romanticide. Want some awsome growling from Floor, listen to Yours is an empty hope. Enjoy!
You probably meant: Carol of the Bells. Attending a NW concert is an experience, a journey. One elongated rollercoaster of emotions and storytelling. Not only by Floor, also by Marko who also has a great voice and really a character in his own right. But also tempo changes, singing style, orchestral music, lyrics, children's choir, light show, fireworks, choice of color and tone. Everything contributes to the story to be told. There is therefore no song to compare with any of the others. To me, GLS feels like Floor's vow to never let the band down, as it felt to many fans that the previous two did. And the audience accepts her promise with passion and conviction by singing the chorus with the backing choir in full surrender until the end: "My fall will be for you. My love will be in you. You were the one to cut me So I'll bleed forever". Tuomas Holopainen (bandleader, poet, composer and Keyboards) once stated in an interview: that he may no longer be able to tolerate new changes in the line-up, but if Floor goes it will be the end of Nightwish. And that's how it felt for the audience at that concert. The chorus was sung along en masse. You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen). Although the band is Finnish, their 3rd singer is not, she is Dutch, lives with her husband Hannes van Dahl, the drummer of the band Sabaton and daughter in Sweden. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career (initially) just as the background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997, but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 (while she was within ReVamp, but recovering from a burnout) Floor replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. After one year (shortly after the Wacken Open Air festival concert 2013) on October 9th 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer. So after almost a year in Nightwish, WOA 2013 was for many European fans the first and at the same time biggest concert with Floor as a singer, but of course they knew her from her previous bands: After Foreven and ReVamp. Is this real live? If you’ll have any doubts watch this: ua-cam.com/video/6qDrKoZ62wQ/v-deo.html the evolution of Ghost Love Score. Nightwish, After Forever and ReVamp worked under the same Nuclear Blast record label. Tuomas and Floor know each other since August 20th, 2002 when Nightwish played in a sold-out and swelteringly hot “Hof Ter Lo” in Antwerp with After Forever and Charon as support act. It's quite alright! I really enjoyed how you let the natural breaks in the song be the time the two of you commented! I think you two would really enjoy Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's song, "High Hopes". The bass guitarist, Marco, is lead vocalist, and you get to see Emppu, the lead guitarist, put on two really great solo's. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/jXTmh8fC_RQ/v-deo.html
Floor had that audience in the palm of her hand she could have ordered them into battle and 100% would have gone. She has amazing stage presence. We are blessed to be alive at the same time as her.
I went to see them in November last year, and yes they got even better, even without Marko Floor can perform all songs. They are phenominal, something to remember🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
Floor is classically trained singer who can sing anything and growl too (deep low growl). The orchestra and choir parts are prerecorded with symphony orchestra ans choir and in a live concert they play in the background and the band plays exactly the same rhythm as them. This is how Nightwish's typical sound is formed in live concerts.
Only 39 million? I thought I'd watched it that many times myself. It wasn't Floor's first time with the band, though she'd only been with them a few months. As a frontwoman since age 16, she was of course used to performing and big crowds.
Believe me, if you continue reacting to Nightwish, it's going to be an interesting ride for you, thanks to your knowledge about music. Nightwish has many different kinds of songs, and instruments you seldom hear - you haven't met Troy yet. Keep on being nerdy, pay attention to details. It's fun to hear something new, that no other reactor has noticed, mentioned before.
Gabe! It's Cool to Watch Guys who Notice things like the Speaker Cabinet being Turned Inward! I have only heard 2 other Reactors Mention that!
BUMP!
This is the 13th song of a 15 saong set , hence the small breaks , stamina amazing , shout out to the drummer awesome drum kit
Great reaction...i love Nightwish ...Floor is the best on the planet...she open show of Metallica yesterday on Nehtherlands...is amazing is the Queen.❤
81999 people at this festival... plus me! A once in a lifetime!!!!
Just moved back to Maryland not too long ago. Where in the state do they tend to go for their tours?
Period.
I'm so grateful to have been there and done That!
rl
🤘👹🤘
I was at a live show about a year ago , second row center. Floor melted my face off singing 7 days to the wolves. Most epic live thing I’ve seen and Ive been to hundreds of concerts
I'm envious!!
And the master of this magic is:
Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish)
Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics.
Paul 🙏😊👍❤️
That's no audience sir, that's an ARMY
@@vivianmendoza5978 I have corrected my comment Vivian. 🙏😊👍❤️
You really should give Floor's version of Storytime a listen to hear the difference.
Agreed, night and day.
Absolutely
Yes please
I love Anette's version of Storytime, however, there is no beating Floor live!
As soon as I saw that it was Annette’s version I checked out. I’ll come back for the 2013 Wacken concert version with Floor AND Jukka.
The singer is Dutch Floor Jansen, first name is Dutch for flower and the last name the J is pronounced as a Y, she studied at the Rock academy and also studied opera and musical theatre as well.
Hello
Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands.
Just wanted to say you guys seem to compliment each other just the right way for reaction videos. Love it.
So you got here!! As expected. This is so much better.
You should definitely follow this up with their performance of Storytime from this same 2013 Wacken concert, to really hear the comparison with the studio/Annette version. Don't worry, repeating the song won't annoy any of the Nightwish Army.
I concur. They really need to seen and hear the difference. I truly hope they consider going Storytime Live at Wacken..
Ditto, I will be like a totally different song!
Absolutely no worries. Floor kills that song. Probably my favorite but it's hard to pick a "favorite" with NW.
Floor is a amazing vocalist no pitch control no auto tuning great Nightwish live band!
keep in mind , she was singing already for more than 1 hour and 40 minutes when she sings this song , Floor best female singer on the planet right now ! ( my opinion )
Best Live Singer ,Best Live band of the World.
Infantryman-Nightwish Army. US Regiment. Kentucky Battalion

This is the holy trinity of Nightwish songs live with Floor fronting...
Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013 ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.html
Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere 2015 ua-cam.com/video/45brzDJKZ3o/v-deo.html DO NOT CUT THIS OFF EARLY. The Nightwish Army is Murderous behind this Sin. Be Warned. 😏😏
The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2016 ua-cam.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/v-deo.html (wait until you have a full understanding of the band’s history before you react to this one. It’ll add the context you need to fully appreciate this emotional masterpiece.)
The Floorgasm is real,, Annette is great, Tarja is great but Floor's voice really grips people on a physical emotional level
You ain't seen and experienced nothing yet 😉
Greetings from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘n
I'm so jealous I doubt I will ever see them live.
stay live and wacken 2013. that song is top of iceberg.......FAN SINCE 1996
Welcome to what is considered to be one of Nightwish's definitive concerts. Floor is an incredible vocalist and this is a small part of her repertoire. From full operatic, belting and metal growls. Although Tuomas, keyboards, doesn't have growls very often in his songs.
Welcome to the nightwish army!!!!
What a tremendous vocalist Floor is, she has a huge range and when she is in full flow she is very commanding and mesmerising
Saw them live in Birmingham UK Nov 22. Best concert I've ever been to - thousands of fans all roaring to the magic that is Nightwish. Check out "The Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere if you want to be blown away by a musical masterpiece! All the best for your journey!
It's a very complex song with a lot of style, tempo, key changes, and awesome vocals from the valkyrie goddess. A truly epic performance!
"Carol of the Bells" is what you were thinking of. /// The backing tracks of full string section, brass hons, and woodwinds are The London Philharmonic Orchestra. Gospel choir tracks are from Metro Voices of London. Ltd.
Thanks for checking this out and welcome !!!!!!!!
For something harder try Romanticide from the same concert. It hits hard start to finish. And Marco on bass also sings.
Nightwish is the best band I've ever seen live, and I've seen many. Well, it's the best band I've ever heard (live or otherwise).
I just found your channel. This is one of my absolute favorite bands. I listen to them daily. Floors vocals are just beyond other female singers today. There isn't a single bad song. This is a deep rabbit hole. Enjoy.
Nightwish Army Canadian Shield division reporting for duty.
Fantastic reaction! Please do Storytime same concert.
Each band member always serves the songs. They are humble that way.
Subbed so you can keep going.
Oh, and I loved your "nerdy" observation. :)
This music is HEALING.
Hello Offsest Era. Nightwish Army Phoenix here for you. Loved it. Great reaction. Keep them coming.
What strange fucking way to drop in the cancer thing…
and saturday i see her support metalica saturday and i hope that metellica do a duet with her
LIVE IS AN EXPERIENCE! just as you surmised! Thanks for the reaction
Great reaction to nightwish.. Also Shold check the : Phantom of the opera whit Tarja.... That's the great in my opinion! 🤘
🤩👍💥💯🎼
Now that you've seen and heard The "corner stone" performance by them I kindly urge you to explore more of this magical band.
The group is always tight AF on stage and the whole production value is deep - thought to high level.
And it's not a 'nerdy' thing to spot those deeply thought and placed details on stage. 😉👍
Cool Cool reaction guys and keep on rockin with them!
Cheers from Finland (the Mother Land of Nightwish)
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
"Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 next by them, despite there will be tons of requests to react from this particular gig...
The Warning and now Nightwish - I am so happy to follow your journey.
I watch and listen to this video on headhones 2 o3 times a week, it brings me to tears every time.
You'll hear Storytime recommended next which is great... only until you hear Romanticide after that, I think you'll have a good feel for how much (or not) you like the band.
Really enjoyed the reaction... thanks!
Romanticide never played into my liking the band - didn’t even really think it was that great at first. Not sure why that’s the deal breaker?
Storytime from 2013 sung by floor would blow u away how different it is
Storytelling here.
Floor: "My--ey-ey Falll..."
Offset Era: "OOh!"
Floor: "Hold my Beer."
bas guitar's almost always overlooked, in all bands. More love to bas players out there :) the members of Nightwish are all amazing musicians! Thanks for the reaction!
Welcome to Floor and Nightwish! If you choose, hop down that rabbit hole! Greetings from NYC!
Theres so much space... Thats what we love about Nightwish. Is not a song, Is a Score
Yes, now you NOW ... just be a fan and enjoy .. always different and never boring.... Greetings from Amsterdam
Enjoy!
that drummer its out of this world
Thanks for the reaction and analysis. A note. This particular song is the most reacted to song on UA-cam m.

Greetings from the Netherlands.

UK Army popping in for a great first live reaction.
To many of us fans, Storytime at Wacken 2013 (Floor) is the definitive version ;)
Thank you for doing this, guys. Good reaction.
Saw them live in NYC last year in a small venue - they were absolutely phenomenal!!! Enjoy the Nightwish journey! 🤘🤘
Well done guys, excellent insight and breakdown. Subbed for your redemption...and more NW of course. lol
Only 39 million? I thought I'd watched it that many times myself.
It wasn't Floor's first time with the band, though she'd only been with them a few months. As a frontwoman since age 16, she was of course used to performing and big crowds.
Proud soldier of Queen Floor......
