Yoooo would have loved to see more of the scanning and designing process
That's in an older video
3d printing makes our job of customizing car much easier . Looks great. Only thing I didn't see you do is sand that 3dprint before the epoxy. But I ❤ the use of this wonderful technology we now possess as builders.
I quickly mentioned it after shaved the corners of the plastic. 3D printing is amazing and every car guy needs to learn it i think. No more bolt on kits!
The SC community is so thankful for you and what your doing 🥹🙌 such a beautiful car
❤️🙌
I like how you used the stock lines of the car as the cutoff point behind the wheels. Looks really fluid, can't wait to see the rear!
That's the worst when people completely ignore the original design of the car and just add random stuff on top. One of my biggest gripes with custom stuff that i wanted to avoid. Thank you for noticing
@@DingDongDrift see that way too often, usually because they have a ton of mods that they liked on different cars but don't flow together in one on their car. Gotta think of the original design and how everything flows from the exterior, into the engine bay and from the exterior into the interior. Don't want to hop in the car and have it not match the mental image the exterior give off and vice versa.
The amount of respect I have for you doing this is wild great job dude!
Thank you man
When you shake your paint cans take two hose clamps and clamp it to a sawzall blade and shake it the camel get warm but will spray like no other pro tip 💯
Lol I'll give that a try
oh man when you closed the hood I went oooo out loud 😂❤ can't wait to see what you gonna do with that front bumper, she's a little overbite ATM but I can see the vision and it's going to be insane.
I knew in my head i had to get the shot of the front end finally all coming together. The front bumper is gonna be hectic, I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.
came out so good!
Thanks man! I'm very happy with the result
Definitely Cool!! Outstanding 👍
Thank you
Just got this rec'd and this is SO up my alley. As an avid 3D printer enthusiast I can't believe it never crossed my mind to DIY body panels/parts.
it took me a while and the right printer to print entire panels, but it's definitely the time to get into it with larger/faster printers becoming more affordable.
What printer did you use?
@@MisterMunkie bambulab x1 carbon
@@DingDongDrift how on earth did you manage that? That’s a 256x256 printer, is there a video of the process? Love this idea, it’s engineering at its best!
@@MisterMunkie it's literally in this video lol, just printed in pieces.
Hell yeah man, love the content, I'm glad you are on youtube.
Thank you!
When you took the front fenders off before hitting them with the primer You should have put more epoxy and fiberglass on the underside For a little more structural Support maybe even put in some aluminum Metal that has been bent to shape
they've been fine for almost a year now
Lookin good 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man!
I've been wondering if I could make a custom bumper with my 3D printers... Now I know I can. I uh.... I think I know what my next big project is going to be...
Get to it!
I am extremely blown away by how sick ur car looks bro, keep it up.
Killed it man! Excited to see where this build goes.
Thanks dude!
The car looks dope man, what a change from the start.
Eyy Philip good to see you in the comments again!
@@DingDongDrift car looks so sick bro. Made changes. You have gotten so much better at video production as well. Solid stuff.
Thanks man! Car is gonna get even more wild from now on. The widebody is just the first step
well done mate, thats awsum. Im about to start mine soon. thanks for the tips.
this is the exact kind of thing i want to do one day. ps make sure to not breathe in that 3d printed sanding dust.
Exceptional
Thanks dude
Dude your sc400 is just a work of art! I've been wanting to get myself oneand do some of the lights similar to yours.
Thanks dude!
Got me hyped for when we do mine! You’re making art man
Matching widebodies gonna go hard!!!
@@DingDongDrift so hard we’re gunna shid!
@@tyeleruttenreuther9122 fard and shid, all roads lead to piss
bro this is the coolest fkn thing !
Hell yeah brother
Hellyeeaaaabroootthheeeeerrr
Awesome job mate.
Thank you!
Loving this series and the great results ! Just in relation to these rattle can paint jobs, you may find better ease of use and less clogging if you can hang the parts so that the can stay verticals as much as possible during the spray process.
Yea i know i just don't have anywhere to do that unless i turn my garage into a paint booth
I think you should make a custom bumper too because I think the bumper looks like it needs to be wider
I know, i will, i said it at the end of the video lol
@@DingDongDrift lol ya I saw it right after I commented 😂
Bro I love the video tbh I think you deserve a rear diffuser
AWESOME WORK
Thank you!
next bro. keep do itttt.
Looking good man. i love your kit you dreamed up
Thanks dude!
as a fellow printer and car and motorcycle enthusiast I'm super intrigued with how you made this wide body i would love to know your print settings like how you decided how thick to make the panels and the wall count/infill% also what plastic did you end up using?
I just guessed, didn't wanna make it too thick that would make it stick out a lot so went with 4mm. 3 perimeters just because lol, 10% infill cz it's mostly perimeters anyways. I used petg since that's the only thing i use, link in bio for discount on the filament i use.
Been following your work on the auto/moto facebook group. Can't wait to see your process. I am in the midst of something very similar on my 944, I've scanned it and modeled a widebody. I'm interested to hear your take on the structural integrity of the part, for my initial go on my kit, i printed an entire mold negative and made a composite fender completely out of epoxy and fiberglass. It worked okay but it took a ton of filament.
It's pretty structurally sound already, but it will eventually become carbon kevlar
Looks dope!
Thanks man!
Cool project but you gotta get rid of that under glow, headights, and make a wide body for the rear
No i don't think i gotta do that
This is awesome.
But wait there's more!
@@DingDongDrift yes please
@@firstverselll soon
that turned out much better than expected in the first few minutes, but I'm still curious - would it have been feasible to replace the whole fender (including mounting bits, etc) with a 3d printed structure instead of cutting out that bit? pros/cons?
Yea definitely, i just didn't wanna model all that stuff and worry about holes lining up and stuff. I thought this would be way easier
Hey, great work man! 👍👍
Would you mind sharing your workflow on designing etc.
Which software did u use ? (Blender, fusion.. ?)
Thx and kind regards,
S.E
I already have some videos my channel about the whole process of modeling, scanning, and all the software i use. Just search Widebody on my channel
Looks awesome, what kind of epoxy did you use?
If you don't mind me asking how much did roughly cost you to 3d print and fiberglass your fenders?
Ngl, anyone who thinks that clusterfuck of a design that is the LC looks better than the Soarer needs to have their eyes checked. Most manufacturers have been on a increasingly desperate trend of overdesign for the last two decades due to the increasing pressure of good public transport, active mobility and EVs among other things. We will get back to sleek, clean design in the future, but this is the price we have to pay for now.
I love the LC500
@@DingDongDrift To each their own, but your car looks better in every way.
I agree totally
are you going to be makeing a custom front bar?!
Definitely
did you use pla or abs?
Is there a reason you fiberglassed instead of printing thicker?
Weight, strength, time, materials, cost, almost every reason
What headlights are those? They look cool
I made them, there's a video on the channel
What material did you use
PETG
what software did u use to make the widebody?
Maya
Hi thanks for share, ¿did you use any flexible paint?
No just regular paint
@@DingDongDrift thanks a lot for your response
What kind of epoxy did you use?
Composite envisions THIN 4:1 epoxy
Remove your under glow please
Why would i do that
🤢 🤮
