It's very difficult to determine which US states are the most racist (and least racist), as most racist people aren't going to admit that they have hateful or discriminatory views. So a study analyzed anonymous social media listening data from twitter activity and google searches to see just how racist the people of each state are!
Of course, a majority of people in the following states aren't racist, and a lot racism comes from ignorance as many of these places are also the Whitest States! Some of them are also home to some of the best cities and small towns live in, in addition to beautiful nature though, so my biggest suggestion is to visit these states first to decide where you want to move to and live.

A couple of my relatives are racist. And after I did a dna test, and traced the family tree they were pretty upset. Because come to find out we have a variety of different ethnicities, with percentages of things they don't like. I was happy to share the information with them. Man I'm a white man who grew up in foster care. I was adopted at 5 years old by a black family. I had 3 brothers and 1 sister. I was the only child that was adopted. I grew up in Memphis TN. And when I joined the Army the white guys thought I was a "wannabe". The black soldiers and a few white were really cool. I've seen many sides of racism. But as a child it never crossed my mind till I was about 7 weeks went somewhere near Chatawa Mississippi and some white lady called the sheriff cause they thought I had been kidnapped by a black family. That was my introduction to racism. Questioned my mom and dad and me by myself for what seemed like forever. We never went further than Sardis after that. Mane I hate racism smh

I subscribe to just about everything, that was said here about Milwaukee, Wi and especially Brookfield. I am German and my company relocated me to WI, where I found a house in Brookfield, not knowing what I was getting myself into. Not only are they all racist to the max against people of color, they are racist against everything, that is not Wisconsinite. My neighbor came over on the day I moved in and greeted me with the phrase: "Just so that you know: We dont like foreigners around here and we stick to ourselves". I tried all I could to be nice to everybody, yet after 10 years they still treated me like vermin... I was so relieved when I could finally move away from there to another country

Yeah, I live a half hour NW of Appleton. It is fair to say Wisconsin is a very segregated state, although not necessarily that it was forced to be that way (although around Milwaukee, it sort of was engineered by underhanded means through various zoning tricks and Jim Crow laws), but even in other areas the various races aren't very well integrated.
I'd say Oshkosh, Appleton, and Green Bay are the friendlier areas of the state.

I am European and have visited many states in North America (California, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Colorado, Arkansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Alabama. Tennessee, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Georgia) and I didn't feel racism until I arrived in Georgia. There was not a black person who treated me well, or even reasonably, that led one to think that maybe that person would have had a bad day, no.
I was openly treated as if I was a known enemy for many years, I never understood. The employees at the airport, in the shops, the taxi drivers and in general everywhere while we were in the city of Atlanta, the experience was horrible.

@@mikevanriel7573 Since its founding in 1829, the Democratic Party has fought against every major civil rights initiative, and has a long history of discrimination.
The Democratic Party defended slavery, started the Civil War, opposed Reconstruction, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation, perpetrated lynchings, and fought against the civil rights acts of the 1950s and 1960s.
In contrast, the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an anti-slavery party. Its mission was to stop the spread of slavery into the new western territories with the aim of abolishing it entirely. This effort, however, was dealt a major blow by the Supreme Court. In the 1857 case Dred Scott v. Sandford, the court ruled that slaves aren’t citizens; they’re property. The seven justices who voted in favor of slavery? All Democrats. From my experience living in the US for 12 years (I also lived in UK, China, UAE, Japan)
Education has nothing to do with being racist or not, especially in the US.
Highly educated people with things to lose usually do not say racist things because they have things to lose, and also have the ability of self restraint, even if they are really racist. Less educated people are usually dumb, have nothing to lose and have no discipline, thus they will say and act as racists. That is all.

It's impossible to get away from in this country. All we can do is work to educate ourselves so that the racism that infects us all doesn't affect our behavior. & also work hard to start ridding our country, & our world of racism. But, how can we expect our country & it's institutions to admit to being racist, if we don't admit to our own racism? Admitting, we, ourselves, are infected by racism, is the (only) first step toward healing & moving forward.

You can not be raised not to be racist. Racism is a system of advantages and privileges that support the preferred race or group while disadvantaging and sabotaging the targeted group or race. You may not feel a way about the targeted group, but your white privileges and advantages still work for you.
For example, you and I can apply for the same loan at the same bank; and even though I may earn more than you, have a better credit score than you and qualify for better rates than you, I'm likely to get an over-priced, less than I requested loan, or be denied outright; while you shake hands with the loan officer who has agreed to take a chance on you for more than you requested, and at the lowest rate possible. That's just one example, but my point is that you can't turn off racism. It has to be dismantled out of society in order for you to not be racist. You may be a passive racist who doesn't behave unseemingly as active racist; but all white people benefit from racism in America just by being white and present in America.

My mother in law has told the story of how my brother in law reacted at 6 years old to seeing his first black person. It was his first day of school and he came home very excited. He said,"Mama, you are never going to believe what they have at school!! They have chocolate people!! I made a friend and he's chocolate!" To this day, my brother in law and his "chocolate friend " from 1st grade are best friends...they are in their 60s!!.
I grew up in northern Virginia, just outside Washington. My dad was a federal employee. By the time I started school, they were integrated. It never occurred to me to think any different about my friends of color. I guess it depends on the environment you are raised in. My parents didn't use the n word..ever and would have knocked our teeth out if any of us kids ever said it. Some of them their mouth even goes off when a Hawaii resident tell them put on your mask (when indoors). That was also on Hawaii local news . A big part of the reason Mississippi hasn't elected a PoC for a long time is that minorities are more likely to receive harsher sentences for the same crime. The state has a "no felons voting" law. So between that and a racist police force, a higher percentage of minorities can't vote.

@@gregorioromero5809 Not quite! Let me explain some little known and understood facts. North and South America, including Caribbean from AD 1492 until today have been steadily immigrated to. Since Colombo, there have been many migrations and immigrations for various reasons by various nationalities. Not all Americans descend back to immigrants from 1492. Some do, but some also got here yesterday and had children. Between 1492 and today, it's been a continuum of people coming to the Americas - Whites, Blacks, and Browns (i.e. Mixed folks) from all over Eurasia, Africa, and Australasia.
Now, using this template, let's extrapolate backwards from 1492 all the way back to around 2000 or 2500 BC. Where do you think the modern day descendants of the Brown Pre-Colombians came from? Do you think they just popped up out of the ground like grass or weeds? Of course not! They are the descendants of immigrants from around 2000+ BC all the way up until 1492 as well. Whites, Blacks, and Browns (i.e. Mixed folks) from all over Eurasia, Africa, and Australasia migrated for many different reasons to the Americas. It sort of petered off around AD 200 to a mere trickle, but, it never completely stopped. Cristoforo Colombo was only one of possibly 1001 "Colombo's" throughout history to migrate to the Americas. These Brown Pre-Colombians are the Mixed descendants of Blacks, Whites, and already Mixed (i.e. Brown) folks. In other words, the Brown Pre-Colombians don't descend from one group of people who migrated millennia ago, then nothing, then Colombo, then us! No siree! Migration has been an up and down continuum of migration from millennia prior to Colombo until today. Colombo was only one of many. These are the historical facts. So, it's really impossible to determine who's bloodline was here first, even among the Brown Pre-Colombians. Sorry pal, but it ain't an "us" vs. "them". It's a migratory continuum, that Colombo was only one, small part of historically speaking.
Coupled with the facts that people have been invading each other, colonizing each other, conquering each other, and assimilating each other over the centuries and millennia, you can't point the finger at Post-Colombian Americans as if the Pre-Colombians never did any of these things to each other! Everybody has been doing this to everybody since forever! An American legally born anywhere in the Americas according to whatever country's laws is an American by continentality. An American born here today is no more or less than the descendant of an immigrant 4 millennia ago! As soon as you start using duration of lineage, you make it all subjective and arbitrary. Whether a 1st generation American or a 10,000th generation American or anyone in between - one is no more or less than the other! Even though my ancestors didn't arrive in the Americas until the mid to late 1800s, I'm no less American than Americans who descend all the way back to the Mayflower! Mayflower descendants are no less American than Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria descendants. Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria descendants are no less American than all the other vast numbers of people who came here over the several millennia prior to the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.
The descendants of the Lakotans claim the US government owes them the Black Hills back. Okay, fair enough. However, the Lakotans took the Black Hills from the Cheyennes, the Cheyennes took them from the Arikarans! Who knows how far this scenario goes back. My point is, if we owe Mount Rushmore back to the Lakotan descendants, then they owe it to the Cheyenne descendants, and they, in turn, owe it back to the descendants of the Arikarans!
All nations on Earth have been made this way or in similar ways. The US and the Americas as a whole are no different in this respect! Way too many people believe it's okay if it's Black/Brown on Black/Brown, or Black/Brown on White, just as long as Whites don't invade or colonize or take land! It's only wrong if Whitey does it! Whites and Black/Browns have been doing this to each other for millennia. It's a HUMAN problem, not a race/color problem.
Conclusion: I'm just as true an American as an Aztec, Mayan, Cherokee, or Choctaw descendant!

The Black people who moved to Virginia from Maryland probably weren't around a lot of White people or didn't feel any racist tension from them. I'm a Black American living in Baltimore, Maryland and I've received racism from foreigners (Pakistanis, Indians, Chinese, Hondurans, Mexicans) and I find it disgusting. Some of the White people in Baltimore are racist but I haven't experienced much from them, it's more from the foreigners. When you go out of Baltimore into other counties in Maryland, there you will see confederate flags and little statues that symbolize "N*gger go away" or "N*gger you are Welcome". 😐

I was born in North Alabama and, even as a child,, I knew racism wasn't something you had to search for. It was everywhere. I knew it was wrong but as a white kid, it seemed somewhat abstract. Fast forward several years and I'm working in Huntsville and decided it would be a good idea to continue my undergrad education at a local University. So I applied and began registration at Alabama A&M, an HBCU. Suddenly, for the first time in my life, I'm the minority. I was scared. Nervous. Didn't know who I could trust to give me a fair shake. I expected retaliation for a laundry list of grievances etc. I WAS WRONG. I was treated like an honored guest and I was ashamed that I expected the worst from my fellow students and professors. I LOVE MY A&M FAMILY.

I was intimidated, in 1990, moving from Detroit to Middle Tennessee because of the Southern reputation, the KKK was created in Pulaski, TN. I found the friendliest, most polite, relaxed culture that I had ever seen. Kids say, "Yes, sir." Strangers greet each other, and start small talk with anybody. Just don't ever be in a rush. You'll be the only one that is mad. I really miss great neighbors, friends there. As a POC, after 14 years there, I only had 1 apartment neighbor that refused to speak, and some guys in West End giving me the evil eye for dining with an attractive white woman.
When I travel throughout the country, I never worry about rudeness, or disapproval of my mixed race family. I'm here to see the attractions, not to see the people. They cannot take away my joy, I don't give access to my anger to strangers here or there. Trips cost too much to be getting upset during.
