I've always wanted a family compound with sister in laws and bro's and cousins all around, so I'd not have to worry about my place when I travel. I'd also have built in cat sitters! I want a huge greens garden ( I can't get enough turnips, collards 'n mustards! ) a catfish pond and big swings to get old and sit around and watch the world go by. I'd put 5 big 'n pretty mobile homes and let my relatives live there free as long as they wanted to. I cannot wait until Darlington Homes makes y'all affiliates! LOL. Why are these vids so relaxing? Bless.
Grew up my whole life in mobile homes . In mid 40' s husband and I purchased an older stick built home. Biggest thing I've learned....fixing and upgrading is easier in mobile. Currently needing foundation repair on 1 corner. ...would be pretty simple in mobile. ..stick built - looking at $18,000.
One thing I find consistent when it comes to mobile home layouts; efficient use of space, with a lot of built-ins; this is something you rarely see in site-built homes.
My wife and I have lived in our doublewide manufactured home for about a year and a half. Bought it new from Clayton. It’s got full Sheetrock throughout, even in the laundry room and bathrooms. It’s nice and definitely cost a pretty penny for what it is, about $150K for setup, block foundation and all. But there are a few areas you can see they cut corners, especially in the kitchen. I’m gonna have to seal the seems along the countertop where it joins the wall, especially behind our sink. It’s already starting to look like it will give us issues soon. Hopefully I haven’t waited too long to fix it. Things like that shouldn’t be an issue for what they cost. The Sheetrock has held up well though. We had some cracks at first while the house settled, but they came out and fixed them while our home was under warranty. Haven’t had any new issues since. Someone else here mentioned how they’re all white throughout now, and that’s exactly how ours is. Even though we’re pretty clean people, these walls get dirty easy. We’ll be painting some of them a different color soon. Paint is also chipping off some of our cabinets.
@ ours was half the cost of what it would have been to build a barndominium of the same size. And as quick as developments are going up in my area of Tennessee, I’d say the detail to craftsmanship wouldn’t have been any better. Our home is solid. 2x6 exterior walls. Definitely no regrets. It will do us for 5-10 years until we’re ready to buy or build our dream house.
I lived in two Trailers ... but I was under 5 for both. I find this series of videos fascinating. Knowing what yall know about these things and how they have changed over the years .. First trailer was in North Dakota 1972/3 Parents tell stories of snow up to the windows and frost on the walls. Second one was 1974/5 on an island called Kwajalein in the middle of the Pacific Ocean . Couldn't have been that comfortable by todays standards I would think :) Thanks for letting me ramble... you didn't have to do that ... not that you really had a choice :) (Dad worked for Raytheon.. worked on some funky stuff in funky places when I was young LOL )
Pretty nice mobile home❤. No frills on the outside, but the inside made up for it. Having a different color kitchen island is a trend, I guess the trend has now made it to the MH world. Great video, guys!!
We owned a Fleetwood single wide in 1971, it was a cheap tin can! We paid 6000$ wasn't even worth that! Wow glad they have standards now and much better!
The cabinets and islands being different or lower and higher being different is the "IN" thing to do. But you want your back splash to coordinate all your colors together.
Well, guys, you've shown us so many mobile homes that were rode hard and put up wet that today's video is a welcome change to dogs occupying the master bedroom. 😎 And as you just stated, you lived in mobile homes when you were young, and I've lived in older mobile homes when you weren't so young, but I guess the point I'm trying to get to is that mobile homes have come a long, long way. At $160K, with another (20K?) for set up, hell, it's hard to buy a stick built home these days for less than 250K. Places I've noticed big improvements over the models of yesteryear: windows-have you or your spouses ever tried to clean those double windows? Please. Ceilings. Much better. Doorstops on the walls. You know old MH didn't have that. A move to drywall. And between the 'pantry' and the laundry room, I was totally impressed with the storage. Master closet too, but not a fan of it being in the bathroom. Everything has gotten more expensive, but the mobile home still gives a good housing option to lower income families. The whole thing still boils down to whether they take care of it or not.
really like this double. my only problem is it has to much white in it. my double has oak cabinets in bathrooms, kitchen, utility room and oak molding thru out. I know most newer homes have white but sorry white gets to dirty and a person would have a lot of extra cleaning to do to keep it looking nice. Don' t like black appliance's but that could be changed out. I owned a fleetwood single wide MH once. It was built rather well. It was a 85 model and it had the sheetrock walls with the strips to hide the seams. Thanks for the tour. would like to upgrade to a newer home but still not finding what I want.
The new ones are nice, but the used ones have a story behind them. We may never know the story and sometimes it's a bad one but it adds entertainment value at least! My 'new' (used) modular surely has a story behind it, mostly about how people haven't got a clue when it comes to renovations. *LOL* I'll be fixing this place for years to come I'm sure.
I don’t know I’m not affiliated with them. They did not tell me I was looking for one to buy for myself and I did not want this one so I did not ask the price.
I have a stick-built home and all the windows are the same. I could have had a small window in the kitchen. Up high but I didn't want it. The basement with the foundation was an extra $10000.
I used to know all the tricks of Fleetwood...especially in the RVs... The number one question was how can you fit all this in a 40 foot RV??? The answer is we can't... We make up for that by adding four feet to all the RVs... They might have added a foot to the mobile homes...
As soon as you tell us where there's another local place with 50 different mobile homes you can look in at your leisure, on a Sunday, we'll go there Patricia. This is the only place around you can make videos like this.
My Fleetwood is a piece of shit. Came from the factory piece of shit, I did special ordered with 3/4 plywood floors tho, they got that part right.. but Ray Charles obviously put mine together.... 🤷 Mines the carriage manor 2 2011
@@kaohsiung99 idk man, I guess mine was built Friday around 430... Ah do t worry about those screws sticking up, and poke through the vinyl flooring, ah hell we won't seal around the bathroom fans, so the good first rain we get they can have their very own personal waterfall, I absolutely hate Fleetwood, they made right on somethings, some they didn't...

I could see owning something like this - but I’d order it with plain white walls throughout. Nice layout, nice tape and textured walls.

See this one is nice I do love that pantry space.
Pretty nice compared to the older homes with crown molding and house doors. Enjoyed the tour guys.
Thanks

Nice cheap alternative housing quick to I lived in one for a few years. It was not bad

One of the nicer double wides I've seen. So happy to see this today! Thanks so much! I enjoy seeing the homes you show!❤

I lived in a 99 fleetwood celebration in the early 2000s.... Sure wish I could find one like that again!
I’ll keep looking

Different color cabinets and islands are the trend now in home decorating. Sometimes even different types of countertops on island.
That’ll make it nice on the next one I have to fix I don’t even have to find a match
Very nice. Thanks for the video. Catch you on Tuesday. Have a good weekend!
You too I will see you Tuesday

Good morning Donnie and brother! This is modern but in my opinion it's not spacious!
I passed your exit on I20 Monday morning. I was going to Florence from Newberry my Daddy was having surgery.
Hope all is well
@@mybrotherdonnie yes everything went well. He had back surgery due to drop foot to hopefully stop him from falling.
Hi guys good job videoing there making them just like stick built homes depending on how much you want to spend see you on the next one
Thanks
After watching the video I am hungry for a Frito Pie ! I enjoy the videos you put out. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving !
Thank you I hope you eat plenty of turkey. Happy Thanksgiving.

If the shit keeps going the way it’s going absolutely
10:34 It sure would be nice for a closet that large to have its own vent from the AC/Heat... I wonder if it had one.
I don’t remember seeing one
I like it all!
Ok
Me to
Surprised they didn't use rocker light switches, all that fancy drywall and then they used toggle switches that went out in the 1990s.

I have seen a lot of different videos you all made at this Southern Choice Homes. Is that your favorite location to look at mobile homes?
They’ve got more choices than anybody else around us
Camera caught Donnie grinning at 10:43
Yep
I could live in that. I would probably have to rent out a couple bedrooms to afford payment and insurance.
Yeah, that one would’ve probably been crazy moneywise

They used to do that vent under the vanity a long time ago, im 60
Cool
I use to own a Fleetwood, every outlet was crooked
That’s not good
First thing I'd do is go up under and seal the underside edge good of the counters.
That would probably help a lot
Good old Donny with his bed hair doo
Brushing your hair Shit it’s overrated
Why do we never see Ronnie?
He’s in the witness protection program
