What Is a ‘Micro-Wedding?’
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2024
- As COVID-19 restrictions loosen around the country, the wedding business is booming again. But many still aren't ready to celebrate with large groups of family and friends. That hesitation has given rise to scaled back, micro-weddings. A typical micro-wedding costs much less than a large traditional wedding. The smaller-scale celebration includes far fewer guests, lighter food and drink options, and a shorter run-time. #InsideEdition
people have been doing this for years. and it wasn't even that small
Las vegas it's an example of that.
@@Velociraptor2000 that’s called eloping
I said the same thing. I remember back in the day, folks got married at home.
@@lei7417 but hey the event can be small but I don't think small.
look at indian weddings and then you'll think this is VERY small
Honestly this is pretty lavish compared to a lot of small weddings
But small, personal and probably people would find it more memorable or fun.
@@Velociraptor2000 yeah true,
Might do this kind of wedding for my wedding since I’m autistic (with a sensory issue) I think big weddings would be too chaotic (since I went to my dad’s brothers wedding once and it was way bigger since keep in mind this happened before the pandemic and it was so chaotic) for me and I bet smaller weddings like this one would have more memories than big ones
MoonBased good luck & congrats! Wishing you a blessed, safe, & happy future.
I don’t think 24 people is a big wedding though.
@@moonbased7796 Рогп + wеddіпg 2 in 1?
I thought things would be really tiny, this is a normal wedding with a decent amount of people
I am disappointed as well haha
🤣
This is a tiny wedding. Most weddings have 100-200 people. Indian weddings can have up to 2000 people
@@lexjohnson0803 small but not micro
It’s a decent sized wedding. My wedding only had 58 people, and that was during the pandemic.
What's up with Americans doing normal stuff and giving them weird names
Marketing con. Take an old thing, put lipstick on it, and sell it as a new thing. Very American.
Ha! It's just tabloid TV.
That's how you over charge
💀
Lmao
That was definitely an overpriced “micro” wedding. Did anyone notice the flowers were being used by the next wedding? So how many weddings were charged for the same flowers?
And same photographer. Someone is making money
Yep, thought the same thing... it was beautiful but that's expensive...and it's similar to a Cocktail Wedding minus the dancing.
What I said! My wedding cost less than $2k, we had 60+ guests, it was done at a lakehouse, and we had an amazing time. They spent way too much.
Ate they artificial flowers or real?
@@rojiroco yeah. 7K? That's still a lot for a small wedding.
$7,500 for 24 people? Even if you only paid $1,000 for the place for 1.5 hours (and that is a stretch), that must be some expensive wine and appetizers served!
I think her dress, makeup, and fee for planner and photographer is part of it.
Maybe it have something to do with covid19? Here in many places there's a limit on how many people can be in stores. Maybe it's to pay for an exception of that limit?
@@ESales0314 I think that's still a really high price for such a small wedding and such a short time.
@@VivPhotography yeah ikr
@@ESales0314 I agree with you but if they had a lot more people and it wasn’t just under two hours then I can say that but this seems something like off cheapskate that’s $1,200-$1800
I rather have a small wedding with really close family/friends and use the money we would have spend traveling across Europe
Same except I don't really like fancy weddings at all since they can be expensive and that money can be used for something better
@@damikey18 Elope at city hall.
Anyone else put off by the $7000 price tag? I'd like an itemized list of how the money was spent. Lol
Half of it for the dress I would guess
VERY MUCH SO!!!! $7,500 for what exactly??
Wasting money 👎
Yeah 7500 for that is ridiculous. Do they even have a meal? Or dessert... they basically just go down the isle lol
I agree..at least do the ceremony 1st..then appetizers and finally cake..who doesn't want cake at a wedding?
I wouldn't call that "micro"....small, but not micro
It’s subjective, In Asia and Africa, the whole village is invited so that would be 400+ people …. This would be consider a micro wedding
@@Yui789esss well not in America
I think it's micro because of the time allotment as well. It's small and compact in every way.
@@Yui789esss Boi, in India, expenses of all weddings in a day added together alone surpass the GDP of the country. Huuuuge amount of people, food for everyone, lots getting wasted honestly I feel a lot of energy, food etc. is being wasted like crazy
that's what she said. i was relieved.
I don’t see how this is cheap. Courthouse then after party in backyard or bbq at park with friends and family is way cheaper
Sounds good!
Too bad if there's an unexpected rainstorm though.

Lol! Makes sense.
If that's a micro wedding I wonder what my wedding would have been called. I only had my dad and sister attending. Married at the courthouse. Used my prom dress. Did my own hair and makeup, my husband picked out his best dress clothes. My sister made us a homemade cake that was my favorite color purple. And we only have one photo of us from that day. We'll be celebrating 9 yrs of marriage in alittle over a month from now

This is what I did, in a local coffee shop (that we reserved) I called it “saving money” 😂
It cost me around $500 in total. we had cake and sandwiches and sparkling water. I hand picked Wild lavender for all the bouquets and centerpieces. My dress was second hand and we booked a photographer for a two hour portrait session slot that she agreed to use to take a few simple shots during the ceremony and after. I made my wedding arch, my friend cued up the playlist I made for music at the appropriate times, I did my own hair and makeup and the bridesmaids dresses were $30 at a local boutique. it was perfect!
Honestly I think it’s the way to go! $500!!!!? That’s a steal!!!! & all that matters is that the person you marry is there! lol Sooooo much money spent for married couples to get divorced w/in the 5yrs of marriage….again yo each their own & $500 is such a great steal & deal! ☺️

So just a normal small wedding
That is 7500dollars? RIP OFF
My thoughts exactly.
A small wedding. what else what it be
a.k.a. conveyor belt wedding. The wedding planner is a Henry Ford of our times.
I mean, my parents got married ina courthouse with just their parents there soooo. Is that like a micro-extreme - negative wedding?!?!?!?
Same, my mum got married 3 times and she did it in a registry office, no wedding dress each time lool didn't even have a ring for 2 of them 😂
I had a micro wedding in May, and it was marvoulous!! Got married in a beautiful nature reserve with ONLY close family. The ceremony lasted 7min, we had no reception, just a nice dinner after. The longest and most expensive part of the day was our wedding pictures, which we DID NOT compromise on. I think everyone should have a micro wedding. It really allows you to enjoy the day and really take in everything. 😊
Congrats with the wedding! (even though it was like two months ago) Bet y’all had a good time!
I ain't spending a dime. We getting married in a courthouse.
How romantic. I'm saying that fully knowing I wanted that too. I hate being center of attention. But I went along with her idea because it made her happy. A few months later she went along with us having kids. It's all about compromises.
It is about compromising! I ain't going to spend a dime on a one day thing. We getting a home, and we set for our honeymoon.
Courthouse? I'm getting married in my living room, with the lights off! No eletricity bill going in marriage!
It’s about time to recognize that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a ceremony in order to love someone else
Why can't people just admit their poor like the rest of us instead of trying to re-label what is essentially a courthouse wedding. They always have to try to makeup new terminologies to hide their insecurities about their wealth.
Or they could be happy and call it whatever they want
That was not worth $7,500. Make the price more....micro.
7,500 dollar is still considered a major wedding party in some country
We had 12 people in our wedding only close family at a park area we rented. We bought all decorations at dollar tree, the cake was a beautiful, delicious and cheap Kroger cake. We made our own music CD. My wedding dress was only 20 dollars at a discount store. It was a beautiful day. Perfect weather as well. It's the memories that make the moment not the items.
Thank you, since I have no friends or family I really like.
Can i come and attend as your friend or family? I will bring my own food and drinks of course so you don't have to worry about an extra mouth 😆
If I told you what happened with the "friends" I had at my wedding you wouldn't even believe it. Let's just say sometimes no friends is better.
This is lovely! And cost effective. Can slice that budget even more by doing it in a nice free park with a gazebo. Then a intimate reception at a home or booking the banquet room in a regular restaurant.
Don't be wedding poor. Congratulations
I know a girl that got her church to pay for the entire wedding....she was smart !!
For that price, they ought to at least had dinner afterwards and dancing for 3 or 4 hours.
I have ALWAYS wanted a small wedding and of course now it’s a “trend” 😣
My best friends just had their wedding and it was small like this only 20 people. It was really really nice actually. They only invited people who they where close with friends and family. It was nice and intimate. It lasted longer than 90 mins with an actual meal and apps. But I personally loved it.
“Just 24 people” 24 people is still a lot of people lol. Probably more people than I’ll have at my wedding.
God can change anyone’s life. He took me out of the darkness into light. God bless
So no more drugs?
Amen, God took me out from the darkness of the world, darkness(sinful way of the world) and brought me to the light.
Good for you, I'm happy for you.
Amen
Amen. Me too
I got married at my church with 9 people there and then went home for the party with some family members who had cooked the food (thank god for them). I spent like $600. I'm too broke to spend $7,500 on the wedding 😅 and my wedding dress was $99 and I did my own hair and make-up.
Now THIS is a micro wedding! Bravo, make a video or detail how you did it?! Flowers, dealing with family, etc!?
@@mamat1213 lol a micro wedding does not mean a cheap wedding. It is the amount of people and it can still be expensive. This wedding is what you call an elopement wedding - under 30 people with no reception and dance party.
I did my wedding in my backyard not long after we bought our house and it was a great day! We didn't have alot of people and we planned out everything.
A micro wedding = a millennial wedding of who spent their money living their best life in their 20's.

$7,500 for that? Hahahah 🤣😂 I’m going to have a micro wedding and watch me do it for under $2,500. And it will be fabulous.
Having one for my wedding on August 20th spent 200 on decorations, 300 on ceremony, 80 on license and going to a Mexican restaurant close by to celebrate. Bought my dress for 60, have 200 aside for clothes for the fiancée and girls and only invited 32 people. 2 bridesmaids, 1 flower girl and 1 ring bearer. Just need to build the arch and do the portrait for the wedding and done. Excited and know that it will be quick and beautiful, can't wait
My husband and I had a wonderful wedding with plenty of food, 18-20 people, local flowers, a $40 wedding dress, complete with a DJ, at my home church all for a budget less than $900. That’s a microwedding. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. This is small and intimate, but not really “micro.”
Side note: My hubby is a two-time cancer survivor. His treatment was testicular and we were told we wouldn’t have children, or it would take years for us to conceive. 3 weeks after our wedding, we got pregnant and we’ll be welcoming our firstborn son in 2 weeks :)
You should have adopted a kitten instead!! Bye 🖐
I like this. The savings & the 1 hour is more than enough for a good time.
DIY Weddings: Am I a joke to you?
This is a great idea, especially in the age of Covid. The focus Should be on the marriage not the wedding.
A better idea is to not let 24 people be in the same room so close together. They could have done it at the courthouse and lived streamed it to those people instead.
A bride can't have 1 nice party in a pretty dress before she goes back to having her everyday clothes, raising babies, working full time still, trying to stay fit, keeping house clean, and after a few year more than likely being ignored by the husband?
If this is a micro wedding then I must have had a nano wedding.
This is an elopement wedding. A micro wedding is 30 to 50 people including having a full reception.
What’s outside of a micro wedding? A 55% chance at divorce.
That is a myth and it was 50% not 55%. In reality, 14 out of 1000 marriages end in divorce. So it is 7.6%.
I think of micro weddings as showing up at the court house 🤣
That was the most awkward dip kiss end the end I've ever seen.
My wedding dream is just a simple ceremony, intimate and only closest family guests. And save my money for my family's future.
So my wedding was small? I only had 50 people lol and it was stressful
Isn't that what alcohol and cannabis is for? A bottle of red wine and you're good to go.
@@rowenkylee5627 right I forgot alcohol resolved all the problems lol 😂 being drunk and high during the ceremony has to be awsome.
@@noesaphira1410 More like wishful thinking. We had wedding pictures to be taken so we didn't drink or smoke anything.
Personally I couldn't keep anything down before the wedding. Lost count on how many times I brushed my teeth. A friend of mine as a joke brought a bucket into the wedding. She can be seen holding the bucket and trying to hid it behind her and grinning ear to ear. It was also captured me giving her a dirty look. I can laugh about it now but at the time I wasn't in the mood.

Mom wasn't happy about that micro-wedding... arriving late was her low-key protest.😉🙃🤣
Okay, now say “Woooooo” louder with a toast looking at the couple. Next, say “Woooo” when they leave the venue. NEXT. Haha
This was like my wedding. My husband and I got married in a public rose garden for free under a gazebo with only 20 guests. A lot less stress and very sweet and intimate 🥰💕❤️
I’ve always found most weddings to be very “extra”. This is an awesome idea!
I had 30 people, a small wedding, and only paid 3k. It was so much nicer then most big weddings. I made my decor and my parents in-laws cooked. Got married at a state park. Easy, beautiful and didnt cost an arm and a leg ❤🤵👰
If there is one thing I've learned in the many weddings I have attended in my life, it is that bigger does not mean better. I have had more fun at small weddings and have been bored at larger weddings. Don't get me wrong, I have had fun at larger weddings, it's just that small weddings can be just as much fun if not more.
Who else thought the answer was “A Wedding in a Microwave*
I knew a couple who paid $90,000 for a wedding with 17 guests. You can make any sized wedding expensive, it’s not about the size it’s strictly about what you want.
Yes you can make any size wedding expensive, that is for sure. It is called an expensive micro wedding. With that said, 90k is hard to believe though for 17 guest, was it at Buckingham Palace?
Our wedding in 2003 cost us $5000(including honeymoon). We had 20 guests, made all the food, decorations, wedding and bridesmaid dresses ourselves. We hired all the cutlery, crockery and glassware plus a marquee, chairs and tables and had it in our backyard. Best day of our lives!! And didn't break the bank either
Do you live down south? Just curious because it sounds like most southern weddings.
this is great for introvert peoples
24 people is way too many for an introvert. 5 people is more their comfort zone and even that is pushing it.
Best advice of the year! This should be the trend to save money, time, hassle and friendship!
So you mean a normal wedding? Not everyone who gets married wastes over $10k on it…..
Everything works on clock and we ask our guests to shout Woooo between intervals only for 4.5 seconds!
If this is micro, what was mine? I had less than 10 people

It's traditional that you need to have one or two witnesses. Not sure if that's a legal thing.
That's even better. It's the craziness of the event, the expense of fancy and big, and the family stress that in the long run isn't worth it.

How bout 90min wedding then 90 hrs couple stays and then 9mins divorce.
Pastor, bride, groom, 2 guests (I was one of them)… would you call that a nano-wedding?!

Having mine in a couple of months! Had to get scrappy during COVID. I can tell you that ours is a lot smaller than this and more casual, but have selected a beautiful place we both love. I’ll still get to wear a dress and eat great food and have photos, oh, and marry my best friend, but for thousands less than the average wedding. I don’t see this trend going anywhere.
