Doug Polk Poker awesome vid as per usual, could you link to the other vid about constructing ranges with bluffs?

Us: “Hey Doug, I wish you’d make more poker vids!”
Doug: “Hold my super-fruit antioxidant infusion”.
Love the consistent content. I'm going to take your poker suggestions and buy UPSWING COURSES, when you take my suggestion about seeing a sports phsycologist, and find your fervor to play poker again!
I would like bigger screen of you when you talking.
Someone easily could have had 7/6 of hearts.
6:00 When you said "they can't even have ace deuce suited"... Wow, I never would have even had that thought! This type of stuff really helps me out man, thanks for your content!
lets see if andy has a live read, no he couldnt LOL.
ACES CRACKED FOR $118,900! is the title, so why even ask..
@@moonshine_blade8266 thats why it was funny he said that on the last line.
@@loan4cards not for me, because he spoiled that hand/question, but i can see you takin it sarcastic
that was gold
Let's be honest, is Andy ever folding here?
Lmao! "He couldn't." I'm done!
If you ever have Aces just hope ur opponent four bets with some trash like jack 7 offsuit
Vanessa...errrr.. .Doug used J7s in his sick 4b/6b shove range once xD
Hey man don’t be so critical! It was suited! And not just that, it was suited with DIAMONDS! And diamonds are valuable. She even flopped a flush draw on one of the run outs! I mean he, Doug polk.
OOOhooohjooooohhhh an inside joke!!! AAAHhwwwww YEAahhhhhh
Vanessa 101
j7o is way to weak but mabye j7 suited lol
Hmmm.... I particularly enjoyed the extensive exposition in live reads at the end of todays episode of Polker Hands.
the live read was there, "my first raise in 6 years", is he really gonna say that while bluffing?
Important observation
Not to mention Bill was stoic all hand, and the moment he raised and said that he was smiling and you could just sense the relief.
Its actually a sick reverse by Bill. "First raise in 6 years" is a strong hand statement, strong hand statements weaken your range. Smiling is a weak hand tell too. So its a great level by Bill.
Yeah I thought that was a critical mistake by Bill and expected Andy would fold.
@@mercilpb Yup, but as we know we always try to see such statements as reverse too, so we reverse the reverse statements of our opponent, which makes this statement a strong-hand one.
Easiest live read ever. Old guy in an American flag hat raises your 1 pair river bet. News flash: You're no good.
Captivating story. When are you going to play 100/200?
This maybe a huge bluff or a really good hand. When you bluff a pot side you hope to work the bluff at least the half time. This is why you should not bluff all day
Except when that guy is a Billionaire and the Money is like playing with Matchsticks to him.
@@garygwin1741 Even people with money want to win. Anyone who has watched Bill Klein play know he isn't splashing around like a rich fish.
Yea, he plays poker after dark and is capable of bluffing.
Bill has to understand that everything he does at the poker table conveys information.
Bill wasn't eating a sandwich thought thankfully
Ahaha, lol. Negranu would agree with you;)
Bill looked like he was celebrating after he raised. Clearly he felt very comfortable he had the best hand. If Andy was reading him at all he would have folded.
Doug, this is the best narrative I've ever seen you do in the analysis portion of each street. Thanks!
Another beautiful day! Lunch and Polker hands. Thanks Doug!
"Let's see if Andy can get a live read... he couldn't."
LOL. Yeah, just using math is the way to go here.
Hey Aces, River Card here.
Let's see if he can get a live - uh, he couldn't! Love it. Keep up the honesty Doug. Missed the drought awhile back, happy to see the daily vids!
What's up, Doug? Glad to see all the poker vids lately. Good havin you back, bruh.
The link you said would be there wasn't. Just links to the general LATB page, and the Upswing link
"Basically just don't be afraid to bet your aces for value because you're just not gonna be beat.......except for today."
As always, love the content. Watching these videos have really let me look at poker a whole different way.
Keep crankin em out doug i love it
@@UA-camNinga1 You enjoy watching "shill" produced videos?
My mom overheard this video as I watched it and asked, « is he talking about decorating? »
I have no idea how she got that but food for thought. Doug sounds like he’s giving interior decorator tips?
"What's up guys, Doug Polk here. Welcome back to another episode of interior design and decor. Today we're going to be analyzing how to balance hard wood flooring with modern furnishings, as well as a wide range of other optimal designing tips."
She heard "blinds" and that's what her mind associated.
Hahaha all i heard is bla bla bladebe blaahhh
@Dr Deuteron lots of people put blinds on their house boats.
Nice. The link to the large bet size bluffs?
Agree with you about the lower suited connectors having less value because of smaller pairs, flushes. However, 45 suited is actually the first suited connector that makes the same amount of straights as the rest of the suited connectors. 45 suited and 10 9 suited both make 4 possible straights.
Spot on triming of the last joke. Lol
@Doug, does it make more sense to raise smaller in Klein's shoes if you're planning on not bluffing as often, as well as value-raising hands like A2s?
Remember that time Doug 6b shoved J7s for 400BB+? xD
The double fisted bet/raise on the river by Bill is a very accurate strength tell
So true about the $1/$2 games. I've played in wild ones where a $15 open still gets 2 or 3 calls. Raise that shit up!
Maybe I'm diving a little too deep into the thought process, but leaving for a while and coming back to make a bunch of videos is GTO. I appreciate the videos 200% more than I did before. Thanks again for the fresh content.
For all the wise guys saying "old man raising you on the river = ez fold", please watch the same old man bluff river bet for much more money vs Phil Galfond back in high stakes poker. Thank you for your time.
Exactly. LOL at the old man stereotypical player in reference to Bill Klein. I've seen him make a lot of other weird/spewy plays before too.
Hey Doug, thanks for these hand breakdowns, I love watching them. Keep them up please! Subscribed, and like each video I watch. Once I'm ready to commit cash to the game, before I put any on the felt, I'm heading to upswingpoker.com feel me.
Doug's hand analysis is so sick! they should get him on some broadcasts, he would be an instant hit.
he couldn't! the end. haha made me laugh
Doug, i disagree with betting the river with 1 pair inside on a paired board. At this point, AA is only a bluff catcher that sometimes needs to be mucked.
Thanks for another great video!👍
Great stuff, I think he's just building the pot with the small raises and if the flush hits he can then dump the hand and not lose too much
Love the polkerhands about live reads
I love the daily videos - thank you Doug!!
I already miss you doug please make more polker hands.
Thanks Doug. I’ve spent the morning pounding ....... the like button
I'd rather the title be clickbaity than spoilery :(
Yeah seriously. no suspense :(
“Except for today.”
“He couldn’t!”
Great upload. I wish I could afford upswing this month to take advantage of the discount but school is starting next month. Maybe I’ll get it for myself but if gift around Christmas.
I'm a little old school and 10 duce is still something I call with thanks to Doyle! So I feel like that's another duce combo to consider based on the age of bill
Absolutely loving the abrupt endings!
Breakdown the $500Kish pot hand between Jacky and Andy.
Mr polk. Would we ever have 89s at this spot? Like every preflop sim, every poker coach tells us to stay away from 89s in 3b/4b pots as the caller since the 3bettor has alot of ak in his range.
The player with the A's, HE WAS SURE OF WHAT TO DO. LOL
Why would the low suited connectors (starting at 4/5) "make less straights" than the larger ones? Am I missing something? Of course 2/3 will make fewer straights, as will 3/4, but 4/5 has as many straight possibilities as 9/10, does it not?
Doug you said low suited connected cards make less straights but doesn’t 54s have optimal straight potential?
"He couldnt" lmao
"He couldn't." That was really funny
Ironic I had to watch Dnegs Masterclass video twice before watching this video
And where is irony in that
Didn’t think he could lay it down on river peace to you to Doug ✌️
Nice analysis. The (to me) reverse idea that if I have a desirable heart (for example), it's less likely that my opponent is working on a heart flush draw, is beginning to make some sense. Also, it makes those looooong, drawn out pauses before a player takes action seem a little less like pure "Hollywooding", and more like the time actually needed to think things through. I'm learning.
Pretty sure this dealer is Live at the Bike more than any player. He is pretty good at table management.
Hey Doug If i have Ace Jack and the flop comes say J47, should I tell my opponent i have top/top?
Yes you should.. big raise it.. if Ace dealt on the flop. Go all in.. 🤣
Doug, I'm only about 2 years into playing and learning more, but it seems to me that AA is not very good, are you saying to be confident with value betting / semi bluffing from the beginning, by saying "there just not gonna lose"?
I agree that a jam at the end is the ideal move
Is there a polker video about terminology? I keep hearing cut-off, under the gun, under the gun + X, high jack, in position, etc. I get lost sometimes.
You should call it Polker hands! It's perfect!
I thought it would be better to 3 bet/ call lower suited connectors compared to then 9 because there 3 betting range/ 3 bet calling range will often heavily dominate u in terms of pairs and also blocking alot of your draws. Im pretty sure Piosolver rathers take them sort of aggressive line with the likes of 5/6 6/7 aswell over 9/10 and 8/9. id ussualy flat 9/10 pretty much most of the time and choice smaller suited connectors to 3 bet because your also more happy to take it down where as as u said u can make some nice top pairs with 10/9 not really the case with smaller suited connectors
Bill gave away the strength of his hand instantly after the raise. "I got it fella".
HE COULDN'T!
congrats on your success at the tables Doug
Is it possible to put a graphic that shows then the hand you are analyzing was played? In case you do this for many years and strategy changes subtlety. Thanks for all the content.
When*
Entertaining as always Doug
Bill has made some bluffs on the river in the past, but overall he's tight and more often the not I'd give him credit for having the goods. I think Andy would have folded if he had Ah
You guys dont understand that by betting 10k into 40 andy could (and would raise kk and qq for value) so andy just has to call. If he bets 25-30k into 40 he can for sure just always fold to a shove against this particular oponnent
When Doug said, "Basically, just don't be afraid to bet your aces for value…" at 11:56, I thought, "Well, if Andy had tried to extract value with his aces, he probably wouldn't be about to get stacked."
Getting sucked out on is no fun, so charge 'em to take the chance.
Love the content. Would love to see some analysis of some PLO hands.
2 notes:
I'm pretty confident Andy should be betting extremely large(pot or bigger) with 100% of his range to leverage his massive equity and EV advantage on this board. What are you supposed to do with 99 if you're opponent bets 2x pot? If you call you could be putting in a ton of money with 2 outs and the potential of future barrels which force you to fold not only your equity but the large flop bet. Conversely if you fold 99 you're essentially folding your entire range making it a great bluff spot. That's why the big blind can bet 100% of his range and should overbet imo.
Secondly regarding Andy's river call strategy the mp player should be bluffing with pair blockers not hands that contain hearts. As such is having a heart really that important because mp shouldn't be bluffing with hearts (theoretically). If that's the case shouldn't he call linearly? Not sure about that one.
Why does Andy not raise bigger on the turn? Can a flush draw really call a big bet there, as there doesn't seem to be much he could be beaten by at that point as pocket 5's would likely fold on the flop? Is he trying to trap because of that fact (there's little that's likely beating him at that point)?
'He couldn't' pmsl
Could you go down the list as to why playing 54s is going to make you a losing player.. and why a skilled player should not be trying to play these types of hands... ty
Hi Doug. Off topic little, but what do you think about Lex?
2:28 54 makes exactly as many nut straights as T9. It's 43 and below (and QJ and up) that make fewer.
Rest of the point is sound.
I know what you’re trying to say, nit picking with the fact that he was one notch too high repping 54 as being less likely to make straights/nut straights; however, QJ definitely makes just as many nut straights as any holding, except J10. makes less straights, true... now I’m nit picking... the question is, in that spot what percentage of the time should you call with 4-3 suited, if it’s Zero, Doug, just let me know?! I’ll stop playing that trash if you say it isn’t so!
Dear Andy, The last time Bill made a river steal Truman was President.
Great vid... Funny as always 😂
When considering the bluff are we ignoring John? Or is this mostly when we are heads up.
The operative phrase in this commentary is "except for today"
Doug being car salesman like with his small talk and jokes
“He couldn’t” lol
such a brutal night for andy
Thanks Doug 👍🏾
Turn absolutely agree with Doug...way to small. I would go for a 10k bet minimum
Hahahaha ´´he couldn´t``
How do you know how many bluffs is proportionately correct? Is it always arpind 2 to 1 value to bluff or does it vary on dif circumstances and bet size?
Depends on bet size. The larger the bet the more u need to bluff
Depends on bet size. The larger the bet the more u need to bluff
Exactly... And by the way, very small turn bet, very small, I mean... Of course that was rely, really unlucky... But you have to consider protecting your equity against the flush.. Flush have something like 20%...so please consider making a 75%pot bet to lock your equity... When he bets 7k in a 17k pot... Or 40% pot... Of course the third guy has to call... 7k in a updated 38k pot... Which represents 18% of the pot, and of course he has more equity than that... Anyway... Very small turn bet man..so small that even the 9s thought were bluff
I liked the video Doug, now please stop yelling at me lol
Peace? I had to check and make sure this video wasn't from 1997.
I think you should mention the 25$ discount on the upswing courses more often! It almost slipped through my fingers watching the last few episodes...
I won big with the same hand vs aces I flop a set. Then got a full house at the end
Wow 11:00am already!
Would have liked a few more seconds of that video to see Andy's reaction.
Just a feedback Doug since we dont know all of these hands maybe u should leave a couple of second at the hand to see player´s reaction , instead cutting the video immediately.
Don't mind seeing Aces busted, cuz happens to me way too often lol! Great Vlog Doug! Keep doing them! ✌
@Xela Flow Alright Poker God lol!😂Mine generally get busted by crappy hands that catch that impossible card on rivers and that ahole crappy player chasing! It's all good,to each his own. ✌
@Niki Young Nice!
"Just get stacked, man."
Doug, you failed to mention the reverse tell Bill gave by saying that he hadn't raised in six years, which means he was trying to look strong, which usually means you are weak. But wouldn't Andy know that it was a trick? Evidently, not.
What is a HUD?
54s doesnt make less straights than T9s, they are both perfect connectors (unlike lets say KQs) so they make the same number of straights
Well we actually have 1 more value combo in bills shoes that is 67hh
Best ending of a video EVER
Imagine if the river was a 9 of ❤️. John would have been pressured all in
