This is one of the reasons why poker isn't gaining new players. Who wants to sit at a table with this type of shit going on? It isn't fun. At least cash games still have a somewhat steady flow. Definitely still some tanking but no where at the level shown in this video. They should be ashamed for taking so long and calling themselves professionals.
When Kempe was tanking over whether to call the re-raise, I was brain-shouting, "What are you wasting everyone's time for? You can't raise, and if you call, you don't end the betting. Fold already, you maroon." Then he called.
Doug, for the love of all that is holy, EDIT. Someone tanks, cut it, put a graphic: "Two minutes fifteen second later." The commentators aren't being entertaining for that 2:15, so do us a favor and cut that shit out. This video should have been 7 minutes long.
What makes it completely torturous is that he shows the entire round of chip shuffling and poker filibustering THEN goes back over the whole thing for his commentary! Just put the 2 together (but I guess that makes for less ad time in the video).
I have never seen such a slow, thought out, horrendous pre-flop call with 10's, only to flop a set...and FOLD!!?? Maria Ho must have been Quad mining... ;)
with multiple players to act behind her, she has a tough decision, if she is up against a flush with 2 others remaining to act, she needs to board to pair or a 10 to come. Leaving her with 6-8 outs. If it would be heads up, she most likely makes the call. But with others to act behind, that can easily come over the top, her play is justified.
@@tyleryoung8255 The original 3 bettor shoves and over bets the pot, making a flopped flush unlikely, but a nut draw more probable. That being said, his percieved A of hearts would act as a blocker, so the 2 opponents behind her would probably not have a flush either. This was not a tough spot, but rather, tough to watch.
Yep, love the tanking, was hoping they could mug for the camera for another 20 minutes. Love playing poker, watching it is painful...it’s a frickin game, not negotiations to end WW2!
Her card was surrounded by a straight/flush draw type board. If its rainbow I bet she would have snapped it off but that was too connected of a board to call off her tournament with.
of course that's why she folded but it's still a bad fold. It's extremely rare to flop a flush and most who do are NOT going to JAM. Sure someone behind could have a flush but you can't play scared like that. Not every set mining situation is going to give you a picture perfect board and if it does it'll probably kill your action anyhow. Even if she WERE behind the board still pairs 30% of the time giving her a nice boat.
Not just that, the clock doesn't stop unless it's h4h. People need time to think sure and it's for a lot of money sometimes, but you gotta make decisions too lol
Chris 9792 actually there was icm pressure... 2 shortish stacks make her fold acceptable. Best case scenario she's 2:1 fav, worst case she's crushed by nutflush/midling flush or pocket jacks with 2 players behind to act. Doug is pushing his brand and he's ultra aggressive tourny player who doesn't consider lot of these things as seriously as he should. Math is math it's less flashy to make such tight folds but the best tourny players who have proven tourny track records over years do it all the time. Its more of a brand thing for doug.. Cash was his main game so he could afford this style though it's def not optimal. If you don't understand ICM please look it up its not as simple as if she thinks she's ahead she should jam being the point because laddering up has lot of value longterm though it might not sell as well to your casual audience.
In the super suuuuuuper unlikely scenario that she's crushed by a flopped flush, she's got a relatively decent chance to hit a boat. A stronger chance to hit that boat than the chance for a player to be holding the nut flush would've been. Admit it man, she just got scared and slipped up. That's all this was.
Gustavo Fiorentini That exact texture of flop is among the worst. You are doing a classic beginner mistake understand relative strength of your hand compared to other people's complete ranges in that spot rather than the absolute strength of your hand.
Yeah, that was brutal. Thank god the other two players snap folded after Maria folded the best hand. If they took as a long as the first two I'd still be watching or doing something else.
'It's not the best of sets. A hand like pocket jacks can be ahead of you, but it's not too likely especially because there's a jack on the board." Now there's a head scratcher...
i know players need to take time, but this has to be one of the main reasons poker dropped so much in tv / mainstream watchability. wayyyyyyyyyyy too much time banking on hands on an average makes for a borrrrrring game / sport?, to watch. there should be mandatory time bank limits added to all live tournies soon,
What's worse is that instead of analyzing the hand during the dead time, this video actually rewinds it and extends the pain with rewind analysis. 22 minutes to watch what we knew was going to happen via the title.
Doug, great video as usual. I'm wondering if you could make some videos in the future with having villains' hands hidden. So in this case, it would be nice to only show Maria Ho's hand only. I think it makes it hard to remain objective and make good decisions knowing opponents' holding. Either way, your content is extremely helpful and very enlightening. Much appreciated.
I count 11 semi-bluffs. AA, AK, AQ offsuit with Ace of hearts. I count 9 "value" JJ, AK, AQ, KQ, 89, A5, A4, suited hearts. every semi bluff maria is ahead about 65:35, and vice versa for behind the value except JJ and 89hh (Essentially dead to both). Odds of winning against this range: [(0.65 × 11) + (0.35 × 5) + (0.08 × 4)]/20 = 0.461. Oh, she definitely should have called; she only needed 36% equity to call given her stack. As for the people behind, they rarely have flushes as Doug said. With ICM it might be close
nuklearwinter there a reason y you are not a pro and she is. This was an easy fold, too many hearts and too many people still in play. People who falls in love with their hand and can't fold don't get far in tournaments.
The Instigator So pros never make mistakes? They make the right decision 100% of the time? I agree with you it's a clear fold with 3 other players in the pot. Heads-up though, its definitely not a clear fold. But the flat pre flop was a mistake. Not saying flatting 10s is bad in every situation, but flatting 10s after a very large re-raise with 2 more players to act is suicide. If she re raised pre flop, the other players would have folded making it heads up. But she didn't re raise because she wasn't willing to go all in pre flop with 10s but desperately wanted to see a flop. It's just a waste of 150k chips.
Always a call here. You have the winning hand more often than not and even when you dont you have great equity to hit the full house. On top of that your opponents have poket pairs a lot of the time which cant have hit a flush.
"James Woods", sure she could have hit a boat, but so could the guy with trip J's . . . which she was folding to. Good fold, should never have been in that hand with 10's though the way the betting went pre flop.
When you call preflop with pocket tens you're hoping to hit at least one ten or maybe even two for quads by hitting two tens. So when you hit that ten you have to raise or jam/call jam the flop. You're not worried about the all in that three bet before flip because he's protecting maybe AA KK or AK with A of heart. He's not doing that jam with a Q of hearts with pocket Queens so you have to assume your set of 10's is good on that flop. Yes you can get out drawn on but you can also fill up. If you're not calling a set on the flop you should have folded pre-flop and saved 150k. What were you hoping to hit? A nut straight ten high? Or nut straight flush? Neither one was going to hit the flop when you hold pocket tens so a set or quads is your best hope for the flop. So you have to call/jam. Yes she's way richer than I am but when you think of the outcome, she definitely made a bad fold. In fact not just bad, but horrible. That's like folding pocket AA pre-flop because you think he has KK but you feel like he will out flop you. So you throw the AA away. You just shouldn't be playing poker at that point IMO.
the real hero here is the dealer. for not screaming "come on already!" aggressive plays or not, ending your tournament on the hopes that a heart doesn't show would just be unbelievably stupid.
@@tmartin555 for THAT hand? wagering ALL of her chips? after THAT many blinds? and looking at THAT flop? ABSOLUTELY. i'm no player obviously, but i can see through her perspective of not having the benefit of seeing anyone elses cards. if you are holding a 3 of a kind and see 3 suited cards turn, it doesn't take a mensa member to know a flush beats your hand.
@@tiggstah "I'm no player" .... nevermind. If you were a player you would know the guy isn't open shoving the flop into 3 players after flopping a flush... you would also know that you don't call a massive preflop raise with 1010 only to fold on the flop after hitting a set...i understand it's not in black and white how exactly to play that hand but fold to an open shove? Idk... maybe after a bet and raise and/or the turn being a heart I could dump my set (when it's clear that I'm beat) but anything short of that, I'm sorry but this is jus a situation where you let the cards fly and the chips fall where they may
Tigglet Like Doug said in the video, you have to be willing to get your chips in there and fight for the huge pot when you have the best hand. It’s unlikely anyone has JJ or a flush on that board. It’s pretty clear that Maria is the favorite in the situation, so you should be happy getting your stack in there to fight for this pot when it’s very unlikely anyone’s ahead of you.
Bill Perkins all they gotta do is call the clock on person waiting, and they have certain amount of time to act or they will be folded. You should know this...Cmon
Poker is out of hand. The length of time it has taking to act just preflop is astounding I think the blinds went up 3 times since the start of the hand
15s clock preflop, 30s clock postflop. Aint rocket science. This was cancer to watch. Might have a time bank of some sort for when real decisions are needed.
I agree. But it could come back, it is just a coverage decision. The old days you are talking about, the action was recorded and the commentary scripted. The current trend is live streaming - and the result is watching GTO bots calculate range odds in their head for 5 minutes per decision. Dull as shit to watch for sure.

Worst fold ever.. honestly..This shit is disgusting - The only thing to be scared about is pocket Js cause that is the only hand I imagine someone going all-in into 3 other people as a value bet.. Reason is simple. The chance he has flush with KQ is slim.. sure he might want to protect against the Ace of harts in this situation but honestly with 3 people behind I'd imagine he would CHECK - Shove this hand almost always.. With the nut flush or straight-flush he would honestly trap I'm pretty sure always.. Reason for it? Well there is 3 people behind you with a 30BB+ pot and trying to balance your range in such an important hand for the sake of balancing is simply stupid. Conclusion - The only hands he would All-in like this is JJ, 77 ( Although very unlikely to have 77) and draws like AK with K or A of harts. Maybe KQ with K of harts (Also unlikely as I feel unsuited KQ wouldnt be a 3-bet hand) - Maybe the guy has TJs but missed his suit and got top two with a flush and straight draw coming.. Either way the only hand to be LOGICALLY afraid of is JJ - All other hands you beat with equity - If you can't risk it here you shouldn't be playing at all
They really are. I played exactly 1 live tournament a few years ago. Then went back to online. I saw no point in ever playing live when I can play tournaments online. Also the rake live in most casinos is horrendous compared to online.
Worst fold I've ever seen by a pro. It was a amateur that folded a set of 10s that was televised. Then he told Phil Ivey who was sitting next to him. Ivey looked at him like what!?
I think her position didnt help either , she was first to talk after the all in shove , and 2 player behind her.I think she was scared of if she call someone commited to call with a high flush draw King for exemple ,or K-Q one of them with a heart.Last to talk am sure she would have called and let the faith go on.But 4 handed you cant really blame her
I disagree and think her move was bold and smart. All the guy needed was a heart to gain Ace high flush. Chances of him getting a heart is slightly higher than her getting a full house.
Anyone with a made ace high flush is never going to jam in a 4-way pot. NEVER! Again, NEVER! 2 black Jacks - possible jam or check/call. More like KK, or AA with a flush draw possible. OR Ace King with the heart draw. Either way it's a call. Doug is right, you're playing a tournament to get stacked not lying in wait with fear of getting out drawn.
You really think JJ on THAT board is EVER going to check LOL. You talk about "Never evers" that's the most neverest everest ever there ever was a never ever. Any card above a 7 + any heart is a bad card for you.
I agree but I do think 30 secs is kind of short... maybe 60 or 90 secs I would be happier with... I'm all for faster play and I play really fast compared to most but 30 secs is not alot of time in a big situation
@@tmartin555 30 seconds is way too short but whatever time she took to make a decision was just getting plain unfair. Three minutes should be plenty. She took way over that post-flop after already taking a long time pre-flop.
I almost think she would have folded quads in that situation as well. If you are that afraid of a flush then you might as well be afraid of the straight flush. She should have just folded before the flop.
The fact she took so long pre-flop to make a decision, probably should have folded as two raises already tells you even pocket 10's might not be worth playing with for this price. To then take forever post flop after getting another 10 shows it probably would have been wise to fold earlier if you not willing to face these consequences of this guy being so attacking. I'm just annoyed how long she took after already taking so much time pre-flop. Once was fair enough. Taking up so much time after the flop when he already gone all in means there should be less to think about now and making your decision soon after. Took way too long to fold. Least if she had done it soon after, it would not have look so bad. He did a sensational job being so attacking. Knowing you've got the Ace of hearts and know one else does, and three hearts on table already, you can be playing the other players fear of not having the A of hearts in the hand. Great play by him. Totally out played the other three in that hand.
Never say never. If those 3 hearts didn't scare you, you have ice water in your veins. I think she made the correct decision not knowing any more than she knew. Trip 10s are strong but with a possible flush and an all-in??? Hell even the possible straight would have beat her. She did have 6 draws to a boat and 1 draw to 4 of a kind in the next two cards but the flush and straight would both be easier to draw. Sometimes, as I'm sure you know, you have to think not so much about what you can beat, but what can beat you. That's especially true in a tournament where you're putting a sizable amount of your stack on the line.
@@buckrogers4820 I hear ya, but you're only thinking of what she might have gotten. For one thing she doesn't know what the two people behind her might have, one was a raiser. He could have a pair of jacks in the hole already, he might have two hearts, he might have the the fill in for the straight. As far as she knows there are 11 hearts still out (counting the one she probably figures the all-in has) she doesn't know the Q's were burnt. She does know, if she calls and loses she'd but a serious dent in her chip stack and, if she doesn't, she plays deeper in a tourney that she has already invested 4 days in. I think she was playing smart to not risk it on the luck of the draw at this point in the tourney. Of course, that's only an opinion. If the hand played out we would know whether it was a good decision or not.
@@peterblood50 His 3 bet range from the SB should not include hands that give him a straight on this flop. It's more like JJ+, AKo and AQs+. So there's only 5 out of 56 combos in his range she should worry about, which are JJ, AKh and AQh. Against his possible jamming range JJ+, AKh, AQh she is still 70% favorite. So it is a call, imho.
Everyone tanking for a minute before acting preflop. Live games have become cancer with so many live players emulating these tournament players, tanking and re-tanking pre. FFS when the person ahead of you was tanking, you already had time to think about what your'e gonna do when it's your turn. Do you really need to tank when it's your turn to steal the spotlight?
Actually she made a good decision here JJ beats her and any suited hearts even if she makes the correct decision she can likely lose with a heart on the turn or river. Maybe she was just trying to survive and not bust out thia by far was not a bad move.
It wasn’t a poor decision at all. Pair Jacks beats her, and so does a fourth heart anywhere else. If her 10 of Diamonds and the 10 of Hearts were switched she’d definitely call all the way to the end. Farrell had 31% here, and the value was too high for a 54% chance
I hate that I like to watch poker videos on youtube but I can't tell which ones are Doug Polk before I click on them. He picks great scenes, I hate hearing him commentate.
Not certain who was affected more by viewing the coverage of this hand; Maria seeing how great her equity was here, or every viewer left to imagine how legendary & iconic this hand could/would have been to see played out..
I like Maria but this hand (which I’ve seen a bunch of times due to age) was sooo irritating! From chip stack annoying tower, to tank fold 2nd set....tough ICM spot but EASY “I want to win” spot. If ICM is so important where you’re laying 2nd set down, granted two to act behind on a straight/flush board, you’re not playing for the W and if not playing for the W, perhaps the buy in is too big for bankroll IMHO
My analysis: We will look at this from a post flop perspective. First , I think Maria can safely eliminate AA and KK from the cutoff and buttons holdings based on their flat call. I also think she can eliminate those holdings from the bet size of the small blind. Likely to be higher given pot size and number of players if the small blind wanted to pump it up he would look for heads up action with aces. So Maria can totally expect A K , some AQ suiteds, JJ and possible QQ out there. Let’s not forget the 89 flops a straight here and that is a possible holding of the button if she in fact called for the pot odds. SB shoves all in and he’s holding the key card , A of heart. Which means he knows nobody else has it. He’s in weak position to be checking this hand, but a bet would have to be large if he chooses to bet, so he goes all in instead. Also he has a gutshot draw. Maria has to fold unless she is willing to take the risk. Risks can also be considered opportunities
If you can’t call here you have no business being in the tournament. Most nut flushes will check it. The guy who raised you can’t really put him on a flush. Sure three jacks is possible hand he could hold but unlikely. Without knowing the cards I’d prob put him on two queens with one being queen of hearts or KK or AA. Maria has got to call!!
I've got so much respect for Maria, she's a high standard professional and she conducts herself so well on the table. One poor hand though, Doug, and the internet slates her! These are dark times lol.
It is easy to analyze now that you can see the players cards but HO did the right decision. She is not only playing with the player that went "All in". There are two more player after her that might have a flush. I guess, I am not a good gambler, Lol
Why do they sit there before the flop and think for 10 minutes about what they're going to do when every person before them sat there and thought for 10 minutes, and yet none of them know anything about any cards except their own 2 hole cards?
Because they're thinking about how best to bet in order to get an idea of what hand everyone else has and also how to maximise profit in accordance to their own hand. It's important, especially when they're playing with this amount of money in the pot. Though I admit that taking this much time is really pushing it. Most tournaments have timers.
If you play poker and you never know anything other than your two cards the cards on the board, and the rules of the game you should quit or keep the stakes really small.
Yeah if Daniel didn’t have anything to do with Doug’s black eye I am disappointed in Doug he doesn’t have to make Maria look bad just to get a dig at Daniel that’s just sad.
That's the power of the 3 bet. She thought he would only 3 bet and then shove from the BB w AK suited (maybe KQ or AA). Tbf the guy took a big risk w 3 behind him. I have a hard time folding that hand as well especially in a tournament. Maybe she should have 4 bet shoved preflop, but then again he could have AA/KK.

I have never seen such a slow, thought out, horrendous pre-flop call with 10's, only to flop a set...and FOLD!!?? Maria Ho must have been Quad mining... ;)
Shes high
Shes won A LOT and took 6th here...must have a good reason for this strategy
with multiple players to act behind her, she has a tough decision, if she is up against a flush with 2 others remaining to act, she needs to board to pair or a 10 to come. Leaving her with 6-8 outs. If it would be heads up, she most likely makes the call. But with others to act behind, that can easily come over the top, her play is justified.
@Bob Yes it pairs the board, but i think i was implying it would give her quads, and the nuts
Holy sheit talk about the slowest hand ever played !
MrWilliamerickson if I were on that table I would call for a pillow and duvet😡😡😡😡😡
That's what keeps me out of the game, except for an occasional nickel-and-dime event.
Why on earth isnt there a time limit
For a long time I have been wondering what it feels like to watch paint dry or gras to grow, now I feel enlighted. Thanks man.
More tanking is better
Fold is ok but the long tank is even better!
He who Tank 30 minute arways find fold button...
Yep, love the tanking, was hoping they could mug for the camera for another 20 minutes. Love playing poker, watching it is painful...it’s a frickin game, not negotiations to end WW2!
It sure is!! You can get a 20+ minute UA-cam video out of a 2 street hand with standard play (except for folding a set after flat calling a 3 bet).
unbearable asswipes
why call a 3 bet with pocket 10s and hit your best card and fold??? if she's gonna play that tight/weak then she shouldve folded preflop.
jarofcandy exactly my point. Poor Maria so many years of experience and playing scare. There's hope for amateur players like me!
Her card was surrounded by a straight/flush draw type board. If its rainbow I bet she would have snapped it off but that was too connected of a board to call off her tournament with.
Yeah, I"m more of a gambler in poker and would have called. If he flopped a flush, so be it, you still have outs.
of course that's why she folded but it's still a bad fold.
I would think not many people are calling a three-bet pre-flop with a preponderance of middle connectors in their range.
They need to impose a time limit between betting and folding. Ten minutes of watching constant chip flipping is BORING!
Not just that, the clock doesn't stop unless it's h4h. People need time to think sure and it's for a lot of money sometimes, but you gotta make decisions too lol
If you're not willing to call there you may as well stop playing.
Agreed
The Anti Alternate Reality if u call 3 bet with 10s What do u spect to flop? Trips no? Lo donk fold.
Could we please speed through the first 6 mins or so of them posturing in future videos?
I get it’s important but you could easily fast forward and talk what they’re doing. 6 mins of the camera focusing on them thinking is ridiculous
Yeah it's fucking brutal and so awkward like I'm I supposed to find this person staring off into nothing interesting or something lol
It’s probably longer in reality!!! 😂
Yeah, that was brutal. Thank god the other two players snap folded after Maria folded the best hand. If they took as a long as the first two I'd still be watching or doing something else.
someone call a clock
Maybe buy improved editing software so we can turn the 22 minute video into the actual 3 minutes of action
Yeah why doesnt this guy just re upload copyrighted material to his youtube channel without adding anything of value to it?
I would have liked to see a sped up fast-forward with Benny Hill playing in the background
I want my 21 minutes back Doug, you can keep the 43 seconds.
Slow play kills poker.
I get these were big decisions but still, got to be faster.
It's an epidemic and it's unbearable, especially if you're in the tournament.
Couldn't agree more. The wait is so unbearable. Especially preflop by both Bicknell and Ho.
misomiso I mean at that rate, I guess they played 13 hands a day?
For real dude. I tried watching the final table that had Chris Ferguson at it and it was really painful.
misomiso damn right..getting sick of TV poker

Yeah. The head scratcher is, Who let her out of the insane asylum?
i know players need to take time, but this has to be one of the main reasons poker dropped so much in tv / mainstream watchability. wayyyyyyyyyyy too much time banking on hands on an average makes for a borrrrrring game / sport?, to watch. there should be mandatory time bank limits added to all live tournies soon,

I did a 12k puzzle pieces during this hand.
😂🙌
I don’t think many people would accuse Maria Ho of being a very good player.
Thank you for tournament clocks.... this was brutal to watch with no time clock.

Even though I don't agree with some of your views, watching your videos actually reignites my passion for poker. I appreciate you for that ✌🏽
Robert Aznar if you don't agree with everything that was said you're a ploppy
Fold preflop Maria, or if you are going to turn your hand face-up as TT-JJ by flatting the 3bet, don't fold when you flop a set!
nuklearwinter there a reason y you are not a pro and she is.
How do you know nuflearwinter isnt a pro? lol
You just shouldn't be playing poker at that point IMO.
the real hero here is the dealer. for not screaming "come on already!"
aggressive plays or not, ending your tournament on the hopes that a heart doesn't show would just be unbelievably stupid.
So do you think folding a made hand to a draw is correct?
@@tmartin555 for THAT hand? wagering ALL of her chips? after THAT many blinds? and looking at THAT flop? ABSOLUTELY.
i'm no player obviously, but i can see through her perspective of not having the benefit of seeing anyone elses cards. if you are holding a 3 of a kind and see 3 suited cards turn, it doesn't take a mensa member to know a flush beats your hand.
@@tiggstah nice troll
Is the hand over yet?
Not yet, I'm on it and I'll let you know... Need more coffee...

Need shot clocks in every tournament like this...absolutely ridiculous amount of tanking. Are they trying to do a PioSolver run in their head?
Looks like they were counting something. Does a pio solver run take that much time?
They can call a clock on anyone
#calltheclock
Bill Perkins all they gotta do is call the clock on person waiting, and they have certain amount of time to act or they will be folded. You should know this...Cmon
When you play on the Final Table of $10,000 buy-in tournament, you can have all the time you need. If you cannot wait, you can call the clock.
I took a two week holiday in the Maldives when Doug started talking and got back for the end of the video. It was nice.Bit warm.
LOL nice
Poker is out of hand. The length of time it has taking to act just preflop is astounding I think the blinds went up 3 times since the start of the hand
The moment she let go of those cards her face showed she knew it was the wrong decision
If you're not prepared to get it in on that flop, then what are you calling preflop for??
Not sure I've seen a player who was a favorite pre-flop and on the flop still fold.
These players are sitting there thinking, "I'm playing in a WSOP event, and a chess match breaks out!!"
Gzzz felt like I was watching a bunch of amateurs making decisions 12 minutes before flop 🤦🏻
15s clock preflop, 30s clock postflop. Aint rocket science. This was cancer to watch. Might have a time bank of some sort for when real decisions are needed.
EPT on some tournaments use a 1minute clock for every decision.

What was the point of calling pre with TT if not for the flop like this and insta-calling
Either way the only hand to be LOGICALLY afraid of is JJ - All other hands you beat with equity - If you can't risk it here you shouldn't be playing at all
God damn, live tournaments are so slow.
Agreed watching this shit was brutal.
Its just the "top pros" who do that.
Do that at my local casino and the clock will be called on you every hand before you have looked at your cards :D
Great. If I take a dump on the table it will tilt them even more. That's a solid strategy.
They really are. I played exactly 1 live tournament a few years ago. Then went back to online. I saw no point in ever playing live when I can play tournaments online. Also the rake live in most casinos is horrendous compared to online.
Not always some tournament have a timer when it's the players turn
Phil Laak is correct, I’d rather loose than fold the winning hand! Maria had to take that chance
Lose*
takes them 7 minutes each to figure out if they have a pair or not.
Worst fold I've ever seen by a pro. It was a amateur that folded a set of 10s that was televised. Then he told Phil Ivey who was sitting next to him. Ivey looked at him like what!?
Her entire plan with a pocket pair is to flop a set. It's a 1.5 percent chance of flopping a flush. Weak fold, sometimes you just have to go broke.
66justariot Exactly! she was def afraid of the flushes. but if she fold that hand, then might as well stop playing poker.
I think her position didnt help either , she was first to talk after the all in shove , and 2 player behind her.I think she was scared of if she call someone commited to call with a high flush draw King for exemple ,or K-Q one of them with a heart.Last to talk am sure she would have called and let the faith go on.But 4 handed you cant really blame her
Duh, he has a 39 percent chance of hitting his flush, not a 1.5
I disagree and think her move was bold and smart.
It's like watching grass grow. So glad that tournaments are going to the 30 second clock. No wonder The Ho is announcing instead of playing.
I agree but I do think 30 secs is kind of short... maybe 60 or 90 secs I would be happier with... I'm all for faster play and I play really fast compared to most but 30 secs is not alot of time in a big situation
You can use additional time credits in tough spots. You only get a few of them though, I believe.
@@supremeamine2382 That's basic casino rules, these guys are sloths... I wish I got 10 minutes to make a decision doing anything
How HO managed to fold set of 10 is a big mistake. Why call if you gona fold a set
If you call with TT there, then you're NEVER folding a set!!
@@peterblood50 also a pocket J's will be dangerous too
peter blood any jack ten or seven and she has a full house. Even runner matching cards.. she messed up imo
@@buckrogers4820
I hear ya, but you're only thinking of what she might have gotten.
I swear every single video you make you always say “I would sometimes advocate for a raise here” 😂😂😂
The fold was a poor decision and fortunately we now have Stop Clocks to speed up the decision process.
By god I hear you
Why’d it take this mick like 9 hours to make a decision with AK in the small? Mandatory three bet get a move on

You can't be all loosey-goosey eating a sandwich...
Why don't you use the names of the players in the video as it says in the video i don't know these peoples first names.
This is a problem with most UA-cam poker commentary, AND most of the commentators on the original TV footage. Very annoying, I agree with you.
Why not edit out the tanking, or fast forward through it?
"This is how you win tournaments. You bet and raise against the weakest player at the table who happens to lay down the only hand that can beat you."
I dunno... far too many draws out there post flop. While I have great respect for Doug's opinions, I think the fold was justifiable
Idk...i can't convince myself that folding a made hand to a draw is correct
My analysis:
We will look at this from a post flop perspective.
I love Niall sticking it to all the beautiful people😅

Why do they sit there before the flop and think for 10 minutes about what they're going to do when every person before them sat there and thought for 10 minutes, and yet none of them know anything about any cards except their own 2 hole cards?
pyrobryan Camera Time
Because they're thinking about how best to bet in order to get an idea of what hand everyone else has and also how to maximise profit in accordance to their own hand. It's important, especially when they're playing with this amount of money in the pot.
Though I admit that taking this much time is really pushing it. Most tournaments have timers.
If you play poker and you never know anything other than your two cards the cards on the board, and the rules of the game you should quit or keep the stakes really small.
Would they be scared of anyone having 8, 9 of hearts in this situation? Would that be likely here?

That's the power of the 3 bet. She thought he would only 3 bet and then shove from the BB w AK suited (maybe KQ or AA). Tbf the guy took a big risk w 3 behind him. I have a hard time folding that hand as well especially in a tournament. Maybe she should have 4 bet shoved preflop, but then again he could have AA/KK.

I'm super fu'king smart and even I just figured it out myself, so don't feel embarrassed
its so bad because its a insta call theres nothing to even think about and the fact that she took so long is actually mind boggling.
Thankfully shot clocks are taking over and we won't have to watch 20 minute videos like these in the future with people tanking 60% of the duration.
If you have folded your poker hand, can you still call the clock on another player or is it only allowed for people that are still in the hand?
