  • Hope this video can help anybody who has the problem with the slow to fill on their gas tank or the erratic gas gauge that comes up with a check engine light. If you can find a shop or dealer that will remove the tank and remove the valve inside and make the repair at a reasonable price or replace the sending unit more power to you.

    I have the 2005 wrangler and had the same slow fuel add problem, as a temp fix i just pushed the valve in about 1/2 way so I can add fuel somewhat normally till it gets warmer and I can remove the tank and do it right. I don't have any problems "yet" so might go the extra bit and get the pump... Thanks for posting.

      How did you push the valve down? Through the filler neck?

    • @YobieTheQuestioner
      @YobieTheQuestioner 4 роки тому +1

      @@anthonyfine8914 yes, just a long screwdriver and tapped it down. i have a new one but don't want to replace it till I have time to mess with it.

      @@YobieTheQuestioner did you take the filler hose loose and do it right at the tank?

      @@anthonyfine8914 yes, sorry I should have mentioned that, took off the filler hose at the tank and the valve is 3"-4" in or so

      I was wondering if that would work. I'm going to try that.

    The valve he has in his hand at 4:39. I took a 2 foot steel rod and popped it loose back into the tank. Seems to have fixed my slow fill problem. I did put the GM hose on it so it has a roll over valve.

      I suppose as long as the valve you punched down in doesn't get caught up in your fuel pump float arm you'll be all right and avoid fixing the real problem.

    MY filler neck cracked right at the tank and the vent on the passenger side cracked at the elbow. I had to make a metal sleeve for the vent and make an ''Insert'' for the filler that the hose could attach to and used the ''Flex'' style radiator hose so it can move when the body and frame flex. I had to ditch that valve altogether but unless the gas cap flies off when I roll it should just dribble! I bought a genuine Bosch pump for $60 on E-Bay and replaced it because I NEVER want to do THIS again! 06 Unlimited Rubicon 6 speed.

      What happened to cause that much damage?

    Im trying to find the part number for the check valve. 06 LJ with exactly the same issues. Fuel gauge drops to zero and check engine light comes on.

      Good luck finding a part number for the valve if it's the one inside the tank you're talkin about. With my issue of showing empty was the sending unit on the fuel pump. Good luck and let us know what you find.

    My 05 Jeep TJ suddenly didn’t start. Crank but not start. I checked a few things and then decided to spray starter fluid in the intake. It started and then turned off after a few seconds. I have a few questions. That means spark plugs are good right? Cause I got it to start. Also, the truck doesn’t have a port on fuel line for a gauge. So I listened for the pump when turned on, nothing, then felt the relay when turned on and felt it click, fuse looks good. Do fuel pumps go bad all of a sudden? No warning. I haven’t seen any warnings.

      I would have to agree that if you used starting fluid and it started right up that the engine is fine. Does sound like a fuel pump issue .

    I have a question about the fuel emissions line at 8.18 of the video my plastic pice is busted on the drivers side do I need to replace the whole assembly or can you just replace the plastic connector?

      I'm not really sure what emission line plastic piece you're talking about but I think most of the outside piece Parts can be purchased.
