Jeep TJ Gas Tank Removal

- This is a how to video on removing your gas tank from a jeep wrangler tj. This is specifically on a 2004 tj. This was due to me cracking my gas tank in moab. So I replaced the tank and added a stronger skid. I chose the savvy skid plate for it's light weight and ease of install. I will have a video of that install up as well. This isn't that hard to do and you just need basic tools. The biggest issue you'll have is old rusty carriage bolts which are replaceable.

@@danbarosh2942 I know the feeling! I'm glad the video helped and thank you.
I feel your pain (bald head myself) and thanks for the informative video. Got drop mine soon because I am chasing a stupid evap leak code. Last thing in the long line of checked and replaced parts. thanks again.
Haha I'm glad that got recognized. I still flinch when I stand up around the jeep. I'm glad the video helped you!
Replace your gas cap if the code is a small evap leak before you drop your gas tank.
Got a 06 Rubicon that I am planning on upgrading the tank and skid plate soon. thanks for your video. This information helps a lot.
Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful. I also made a video about upgrading my gas tank skid plate if you want to check that out. I went with the savvy aluminum skid plate.
Yes it's all about the angle. You have to hit the right spot for it to come out I see you use protection like the rubber gloves. 😊 And eyeglasses don't want fluid in the eye.
"I'm also a little bitch." 😆 Thanks for the vid...and the laugh!
No problem lol. Hope it helped!
Working up to do the same thing with mine. Great video thanks for making it
No problem I hope it helps. By the time i was through i had to take it on and off about 4 times. It's not that bad just run your gas tank down until your fuel light comes on so it's easier to move around. That and be prepared to replaced carriage bolts and the retainer clips that hold them on. That will be your biggest hurdle. But once you have fresh hardware it's a piece of cake. Feel free to ask if you have any questions
My gas line from the pump to the metal gas line broke while the tank was about just under a half tank.
@@nordland2235 that's no fun at all. Maybe a transmission or motorcycle jack would be best to lower it then.
If its easy come do mine...I'm old and have 2 hernias....and do not have the money to pay the garage do it.
Your a young guy...why are you bald ?
@@nordland2235 It runs in the family I'm afraid lol
