      @@jake-br1db no, it doesn't. But it would make for a less messy/easier install.

    Great video. I’m a couple years late but for anyone needing to replace a pump or a tank, like me, this is very helpful. One tip that I figured out is that you can reach the electric clip and fuel line through driver side wheel well before dropping tank. Also, once your hoses are disconnected, drop the tank a couple inches and push to passenger side. The filler neck will clear frame and body just remember to cut the zip tie for your vent hose. This allowed me to drop the entire tank, swap everything over to new tank and reinstall. Just fyi I have a 1998 tj 4.0 76k miles. I had to modify my exhaust after 4 years of sitting up, cat was plugged. One of my exhaust clamps was loose allowing the tailpipe to rotate melting a hole in my tank which is why i replaced it. Silly mistake on my part but I’m a UA-cam mechanic and after many hours of work getting the Jeep to run and put back together I missed an exhaust clamp.. burning a hole in the tank on my first long trip. Other than that it ran great.

    I suffering from fuel injector failure about every 3 months or so and I'm wondering if my metal fuel tank could be the cause. Its a 1990 Jeep Cherokee. I had the fuel pump and filter changed when I bought it about a year ago. But this thing has been killing fuel injectors. At least that is what the mechanics keep saying because it bucks once I hit 35MPH. The plugs, spark wires have recently been changed and double checked. I'm not mechanic but I'm wondering since the Jeep sat for 2-3 years before I bought it that it has rust inside it and bits are making it to the fuel injectors and clogging them up. Regardless, dude your videos are amazing. I have been watching your electrical wiring videos. I love them. Thank you for taking the time to make good content.

      You could have rotten fuel in the tank that has coagulated if it has sat for 3 years and if you never flushed/cleaned the tank out. That will definitely clog injectors.

    Great video, will this remedy my check valve issue? If the TJ sits for more than say 10 minutes, it takes 3 cranks to get it started...if it's been running and off for a short time, starts RIGHT up.

      usually when it starts doing that you just change the fuel pump.. to start.. on my tj there is no way to check fuel pressure on the fuel rail easily.. i dont know what you mean by "check valve" issue

    Replacing your fuel pump is a pain...unless...While you have your tank out, cut you a trap door in the floor in the rear, be sure it's centered over the fuel pump and its big enough to get a hand (or two) to all connections.. weld a steel lip around the bottom of the trap door and if you want to hinge it or not..up to you...In the future just have have to roll your rear seat up and pull the trap door to replace your pump, I used 1/4" steel plate and cut it pretty snug for the trap door...no rattle at all as the 1/4 plate is heavy enough I did make a little slit so I could use a flat head screw driver to open the door and I hinged it toward the front since I have an LJ and put in 31.5 gallon tank when I didn't this.

      you might have to drop it full.. they aren’t that big so just use a jack of some sort and you should be good. I just got done doing an 80 gallon tank that was half full .. and I’ve dropped many tanks full of gas..

    1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ. Just had my fuel pump replaced and now my fuel gauge says tank is full at 15 gallons, even though it has a 19 gallon tank. Any thoughts on what needs to be fixed? My mechanic is a jerkhole with crazy attitude and is wanting to potentially charge me again to go back in and fix.

    • @chriscraft77022
      @chriscraft77022  9 місяців тому +1

      your concern should be where on the gauge the Jeep runs out of gas with the new sender

    • @grinchlette
      @grinchlette 9 місяців тому

      @@chriscraft77022Before this was an issue and the gauge worked perfectly, the second the red fuel warning light went on I would clear the tripometer and then I knew I had @ 40-45 more miles I could drive before I emptied the tank. Now, since the new fuel pump install, it reads empty prematurely, but I suspect I still have the usual 19 gallons of gas in the tank after filling. So the gauge tells me I’m on empty when really I still have 2-3 gallons left in there. I think. (Verses 1/2 gallon before, when I would drive it all the way to empty. I would just love it to work so I do t have to do math and worry about it every time I drive.
